Rebecca relaxed a bit as she walked inside. She was glad that Julianne was hear. She'd be a bit of a wreck right now trying to figure out how to say all of this.

Inside, her father was still sitting in his chair in front of the TV. Mother was in the kitchen, and it sounded as though the children were rattling on in the hallway to whoever was tucking them in for bed.

Julianne stopped in the living room, and looked around for Julianne's brother, who, to her slight disappointment, was not to be seen. Sexiness obviously ran in Rebecca's generation of family. She decided that he was probably tucking the kids in, and remained hopeful that she'd see him before she left. She wasn't going to do anything with him, anyways. Maybe. She waited for Rebecca to get everyone she wanted to tell together.

Nervously, Rebecca walked up to her mother in the kitchen first. "Hey, we're back."

"So I see... Had fun I heard."

"Yeah. So... um... are the kids being tucked in?"

"Yes, your bother's tucking them in now." the mother replied.

"Alright. Good. I.... we have some things to talk about. Mind meeting us all in the livingroom?"

"I suppose so. Right after the kids are in bed for good."

"Alright" Rebecca said as she slowly moved back into the room. Alright. One down. Brother should just walk in and sit down. Dad was already there. Alright. Just... a few more minutes.

Julianne listened, and could hear Rebecca's nervousness. She smiled lightly; Rebecca was just so innocent. Julie waved for her to come closer, so she could try to calm her a bit, even if it was just by her presence.

Rebecca looked over and seen Julianne wave her over. She took another deep breath, and headed over to her. "I don't know how I managed to get myself so nervous again..." she muttered quietly to her.

Julianne nodded. "It's okay," she whispered, trying to not draw Rebecca's father's attention, "Just breathe, and tell them. Yeah, they'll be surprised, but between the two of us, we can handle it." Julie looked to make sure her dad was still looking at the television, then kissed Rebecca again, but this time on the lips. It wasn't sensual, like when she did it in the hotel, but more reassuring in its calmness. Julie really didn't think too much about it before she did it, but was a little surprised at herself afterwards.

Rebecca, to her surprise, relaxed a bit more after the kiss. Maybe it was simply because it got her mind off of the whole little chat they were about to have. she wasn't sure, and it really didn't matter much at the moment. It wasn't like it was a new thing, anyway. She'd gotten over her nerves with a kiss from Julianne before they left Vandal's hotel.

It wasn't long before her brother reentered the room. A teddy bear tucked under his arm, and a blanket slung over his shoulder. "Alright, the brats are in bed." he said as he entered the living room.

Julianne looked at Rebecca's brother and whispered to her, "If I told you your brother is a hunk, would you be mad?" It was more to distract Rebecca from her nerves than anything else, but it also gave her an excuse to look at him, which was a bonus.

Rebecca looked back at her brother and blinked a few times before looking back at Julianne. "No... but I'd be careful to let him hear you say that. He might try to show off." she said with a small grin.

"Hm. Maybe I'll bring it up after this conversation," Julie said, still whispering, "Might take some of the heat away from you if he's trying to impress a lady." She stepped away from Rebecca and walked a little closer to him, saying "I hope we didn't wind them up too much for you."

The young dark-haired man stopped walking and turned towards Julianna as she spoke to him. He flashed her a little grin. "Nah. They went to bed alright. They're good about that. They'll just... be lying awake staring at the ceiling for the next two hours, is all." he replied.

"That's good," Julie said, flashing her own smile at him. He was even cuter when he smiled. This might be interesting. However, she had a job to do.

She turned to Rebecca and asked, "You ready?"

Rebecca frowned lightly and nodded. "I.... suppose so." she replied, then turned to look at her brother. "You all might want to sit down. This could take a bit to try and explain."

"You... mean the thing you mentioned about us not owing Cobblepot any money any more?" he asked.

"Yeah, that..." she replied, then waited a moment for everyone to sit down.

"HOW do we not owe him any money? The way things were, the little ones would have to work to pay off all of the debt."

"Well... it's all been paid off. We don't owe him any money now, and we don't have to work for him any more." Rebecca began. "It's... been taken care of."

"What do you mean? Unless Batman came in and did something, I doubt Penguin would let us get off with what we've been able to give him."

"Sweetie... you haven't been doing, "other" work to try and pay it off... have you?" the mother asked.

"No, no. I.... I met someone at work the other day" she began, avoiding being specific and saying "last night". "... and after finding out about my situation... OUR situation... he went to see Cobblepot and straightened the whole thing out."

"What do you mean straightened everything out? Who is this man? How did he pay off our debts? No one has that much money to just throw away like that. Not without wanting something in return." the father said. The overprotective and distrusting reaction Rebecca had been expecting beginning to take hold.

Julianne, not waiting to be invited into the conversation, instead stepped forward a little and said, "That's actually why I'm here. This gentleman is someone I've had the good fortune of knowing for quite a few years. When he's in town, he does prefer the Iceberg Lounge, mostly because it both caters to his wealth and protects his anonymity, and that's how he met Rebecca. As he told me, and I'm sure Rebecca will confirm this, at some point, he asked why she was working there, and rather than lie, she told him the truth. In his mind, it was comparable to slavery, so he made arrangements to meet with Mr. Cobblepot about it. Fast forward to last night, and he goes and pays the debt in full, just to free her, and you." She focused directly in her father, which she figured was going to be the toughest sell, and added, "Yes, he really does have that much money, and no, he didn't have some grand scheme. He just happens to have this crazy notion that slavery is wrong. I know, it sounds insane to anyone who doesn't know him, and probably doubly so to someone who's been screwed over as badly as you have. The thing is..." She moved to the couch and sat down, showing herself to be as relaxed as possible, and with as much conviction as she could muster in her voice, she continued. "He believes that people with money should be willing to use it for the good. He wants to make the world better. Just, instead of grandiose gestures of halfhearted generosity combined with wholehearted self-propaganda, he prefers wholehearted generosity, on such a small stage that his own image doesn't even factor in." She looked Rebecca's father directly in the eye and asked, "Is there anything else you need to know?"

"Well... I suppose I'd need to know just who this man is. You're right that it's... a little hard to believe that someone could just pay off that much money for a stranger and not expect anything in return." the father replied.

"I'm... sure that if you feel better about meeting with him, we could arrange for him to meet with us." Rebecca offered. If Vandal could come down and talk to them, he might be able to make them feel... a little better about things. And if he didn't want to come down, that was fine as well. Could say that he was busy with work related things.

Not sure how she was going to explain being gone this weekend. If she mentioned going away with him for the weekend, that would squash any ease her family was feeling. Especially with her older sister who ran off with half the money Cobblepot had loaned them. Should she say he was giving her a job offer? That... it was out of town and she might be very much gone some days?
