"Well, with that matter dealt with, there's another problem," Dmitri sighed. "Tyrg has bought off the Necroguild and offered protection to the Illuminati, by all accounts. We're not sure where the third communication line in the group we intercepted went. We lost it fairly quickly."

Joe perked up. "Whoa whoa whoa, hold on. Did you say bought off the Necroguild? Good Christ, how would they pay for that? We had to pay an arm, a leg, and a pint of virgin blood just to stop one from trying to kill us."
Marco shushed Joe and said, "Carry on about the tap, if you would. I still don't quite follow."

Marco nodded, though slower. "I see. So we don't know what caused it, which leaves us with a measure of uncertainty on if we've been discovered or not. Am I right so far?"

"Tyrg knows most of their lines are tapped. They don't know who does it, though. And they don't know we do it as well as we do," Dmitri replied, shrugging. "They can probably ID the magic as being either Cabal or Coven, though.
