Emaciated Puppet M u s i c O r i g n ravenkitty776 Right now we're sight-reading harder music--it's just people who want to play who were/are/going to be high school students--and I need to practice. gonk Practice makes permenant so practice right! Here is some tips from a 6-7 year flautist! 1-posture! 2-Don't bob..But swaying is okay, It helps your tone. Trust me!~ 3-BREATH LIKE A VACUMN BABY! > biggrin 4-Keep your flute straight, it helps alot. But your arms get tired after a while.. 5-NEVER,EVER...EEVVEERR, Eat before you play your instrument. 6- Also...If you get sight reading down, you will have no problem. 7- Scan first, read later. 8- Finger as you scan, if you come across some problems as you finger, thats a problem spot. Hope those help. ^ -^ its also a VERY bad idea to wear chapstick/lipgloss b4 you play a flute. DONT EVER DO THAT!!!!! stressed totally agree, unless it's like "softlips" or "chop savers" then a thin coat is okay if you need it. normaly you'll only need it during cold outdoor stuff such as marching band, where i always keep some on me. nothing feels worse than lips chapped so bad they're cracked, on a flute. keep your lips in good health in the first place and you shouldn't have a problem.

I've been playing flute for seven years, and this is my first year marching it! I've had the same one for all these years... someone else besides me think it's time for a new one? XD
I would kill for an open-holed one with the B-flat foot joint. Right now, I just have the standard close-holed one with a range from low C to as high as I can battle out the notes.
My best friend is also a guy flute player.

Yes, i've noticed, only because flutes are awesome, and the only reason everyone else doesnt play flute is because some people cant be blessed enough to get a sound out of it. Lol And Yes i love guy Flute players too! Sadly i have no guy flute players in my band crying

TheDrunkTank yo i need some advice for playing the piccolo because i can only sometimes play D and up I had problems when I first started playing. It could be the kind of piccolo you have? I find it easier to play the low B with both index fingers down. Although I could be wrong. sweatdrop Dont blow your brains out when your playing a low note or it will turn into a high note
