The girl giggled a bit, then moved in to give Julianne a quick hug.
"Alright you two, inside. It's about time for bed." Rebecca said as she motioned the two to start up the steps. "Grandpa and Grandma will be waiting for you. We were supposed to have been home an hour ago."

Julianne returned the hug, and then let her get upstairs. Standing up, she asked Rebecca, "You plan on explaining everything tonight?"

Rebecca frowned lightly and gave an uneasy glance up at the windows above them. "I....I don't know. I suppose I'll have to. They'll be wanting to know why and HOW we no longer owe Cobblepot a debt." she replied.

Julianne nodded. "Fair point. You want me with you when you do, to help field the inevitable questions?" She looked at Rebecca, adding "I make a good character witness of Mr. Savage, having known him for some time."

Rebecca let out a long sigh before looking over at Julianne. "Yes... actually. I'd feel better not having to explain that a man I just met the other night has paid off all our debts and is taking me to Ireland for the weekend. That will go over well..." she said, looking back up at the stairs. She was not looking forward to this, but it had to be done.

"You wouldn't be expected to know that Mr. Savage has a profound distaste for what is effectively slavery," Julianne immediately quipped, already slipping into her role as character witness, "Neither would your family. He had the means to break that cycle, so he did. As for the trip, he might have decided that it would be a waste to give you your life back, and not also give you something to take advantage of that freedom with. I'm not a mind reader, but that would be par for the course for him." She looked directly at Rebecca, and said, "Something like that work?"

Rebecca looked at Julianne a moment, then smiled. "Well, if you make it sound as though he was just being a compassionate man with an insane amount of money... they might be a bit better about accepting the news." she said with a smile. Then she looked over to the car as a flash of red and white caught her attention. It was small, and there wasn't anything near the front of the car... so she dismissed it as just a reflection off the car or something similar.

Julianne was too busy looking at Rebecca (not hard work at all, because she was gorgeous) to notice the streak. "That's not entirely false, either. He DOES have an insane amount of money." She held her hand out towards the entrance to the apartment building. "After you."

Rebecca smiled lightly and started up the steps to the front door. At least they still had a few floors before they were to the room they needed. The kids were likely already in the house and bragging about what all they got to do today. "Alright... just a few flights of stairs and we'll be there. Plenty of time for us both to think about what to say..." she said with a small smirk as she moved through the front door.

"Don't think too much," Julianne warned, following Rebecca, and thoroughly enjoying the view that following her provided. Vandal Savage certainly had good taste, that much was not up for debate. She added, "Too much planning makes things sound rehearsed."

Rebecca smiled a bit and looked back at Julianne as she continued up the stairs. "Definately don't want that. Guess I'll have to think of something else then..." she said as she turned back towards the stairs. Didn't want to trip.
What to think about though? Ireland? Castles? The beach?
... the hot tub maybe?

Outside, a tiny figure in red and white was peering around the nice, shiny red car that was just sitting out on the street. She couldn't help it that this was the newest looking car on the block. Or that it was red. She loved red. She wasn't sure what she was going to do with the car, but it was a nice place to stop for a bit.

Julianne had obviously come up with the framework of her position, so she remained solely focused on Rebecca, and what she'd like to do with her in Mr. Savage's hot tub. As they drew closer to Rebecca's apartment, she drew back from her daydream enough to make sure she would notice Rebecca stopping. walking awkwardly into the subject of your daydream would be pretty, well, awkward.

Rebecca reached the door they needed, and stood in front of it for a few long minutes. Trying to work up the courage to open the door and go inside. This... this wasn't going to be fun. Hopefully she was just dramatizing everything that she thought could happen in her mind. It... wasn't like she was sixteen or anything anymore. She was an adult, she didn't need her parents approval. Thought... they had more than just a little right to be concerned about her running off with a man she'd just met the other night.
..... hoo boy.
Taking a deep breath, she looked back to Julianne and opened the door to go inside.

Before she walked in, she took a quick glance to make sure no one was looking directly at them (no need to make it more awkward for Rebecca than it already was going to be). Then, satisfied that no one was, she quickly kissed Rebecca's cheek, whispering, "It'll be alright. Trust me." Then, she walked in, looking more actively for the kids. She was pretty sure they were going to be at least halfway ready for bed, but they were fun.
