Well of course if we do play then we'll do some training first, just hitting it back and forth without having any points or rules. That's what myself and my mates do to warm ourselves up. Do that for 10-15 minutes, then onto a game is the norm. 3nodding
Perhaps you're just not a very competitive person when you're playing by yourself. Maybe the addition of another team mate makes you feel you have to play your best or you'll let that team mate down.
