Joe, who had sat near Cyrus and Rose, looked around. "Not to sound ignorant, but...that's bad, clearly. Just how bad are we talking?"

Paul took his seat. This sounded disturbing, but hey, what did he know? Fyrin took his seat too; the other eight took the cards and kept playing. Fyrin let off the impression of a grin at the Gertrude statement. At the human soul and demon soul news, Paul leaned back in surprise and Fyrin became very focused, but they said nothing.

"That's why Demon Hunters always pursue demonic mages if we can find them," Cyrus explained. "Demons are limited in their capacity for Arts-Demonic by relatively low free-use mana reserves, as they need most of it for maintaining their earthly body. Without that need, though..."
"Exactly, and one worse," the Countess added. "The demon's reserves are freed by having a human body, and the human's mana is added to the equation as well."

"Oh, that's obvious enough," Fyrin replied. "Think about it. If we refused anyone entrance just because another member of their party held ill will to us, we'd never get anywhere. You can assume a lot of things but half the time you'll be wrong, and I'm going to take a guess and say we're safe with these people." Joe had a point, though, and Fyrin gave both a quick sweep with the third eye, looking to find any deformations of the soul that would indicate anything sinister. If they held ill will, it would show, no questions about it.

Their souls seemed no different from those of any other vampire or Sage.
"Simple," Dmitri replied. "We're part of Zero-Sum. Which, of course, you're going to never speak of. We're composed mainly of sleeper agents, spies, and other sneaky bastards in most other Council groups and a couple of non-Council ones. We report straight to the Director of Ops down here."

Dmitri grimaced. "The Sages, Werebeasts, Vampires, and the Cabal - and some demonic patsy of Legion's, Harron I think, are on-board with him. They call themselves the Cabal Coalition - secretly, of course. They're trying to keep it quiet for now."
