She was actually out of reverie this morning...she had been thinking for a good portion of the night. A look over of clouded eyes at the familiar fall of footsteps she knew were Shyrae's and then the subesequent smell of pancakes. "You're playing room service already? You're just handy to take anywhere aren't you. Are you feeling better?"
Lycear had come down not long after Shyrae has vacated the kitchen, having his own breakfast and such. And he had been just getting ready to head off himself when Bell slammed into him, knocking herself to the floor. "My my, you are a clumsy little dragon." Reaching a hand down to help her up.
"Sorry. Oh did those maps help?" Looking around a moment in the kitchen. "Kaz isn't up yet?" Pity. Causal time with him was so hard to get these days.
"Yes, they helped. Things have changed a little bit. Which means I want you to combine things, make changes and copies. You need your own copies, I would like a set and Kaznec needs a set." A smile. "And he sleeps as he pleases...he may already be up. Why don't you grab some breakfast."

"I try to keep myself useful." She set down the tray and took a glass of orange juice off of it, standing and walking to the window. "Yes and no." A shake of her head. "No ill effects from the runing and healing or anything like that. I just...to tell the truth, I miss my parents and my animals. and I'm not sure I'm going to be able to find any work here. I've seen dogs running about but they are all strays. They like me though, I met them all last night while you were in reverie." Yes, she had gone out the night before to get really acquainted with the place.

Kaz was up a good 15 minutes before the rest of the bustling household but chose to sit in bed and try to finish his book. Good conceptual philosophy was hard to come by since scholars in this land were scarce and most treasured their books like their own children. But as he flipped to the last chapter, he felt his stomach grumble and replaced the book on his shelf. It was time to eat and start a day anew. With any luck, there would be no more drama for a long time. Making his way through the house, he stepped into the kitchen in time to catch the last of their conversation. "I'm up. Did you need me?"

After being accused of cheating, and getting out of a brawl with a little bloodshed, Hunter was on the streets again with more gold. one of the 'strays' as a certain elf reffered to them as, ran to him and sat wagging his tail. hunter reached over, petting the dog lightly and removing a piece of paper from a near invisible holder around it's neck. the same size and type a carrier pigeon might use.
Idly continuing his walk and letting the dog go with two pats on his head, he looked at the note. thirty minutes and the Chimera would be fully functional again...so he started his way idly avoiding city eyes to Lycear's home. now just to wait a bit. one of those elves was bound to present themselves.

"That's good." Taking her plate and some silverware from the tray that was brought up, settling things into her lap. But her attention turned over to Shyrae once more, or at least to where she thought she was. "Are you sure you want to keep going? You can always go back home without trouble." A slight shrug. "We'll find work here. There's always someone who needs help, even if it isn't something we want to do. Gotta work your way up sometimes. And strays turned fine trained are always good."
They both looked over, Lycear giving his son a smile and nod. "Morning. I see you're not out yet." A look to Bell. "Aren't you lucky." Giving another chuckle before passing a look between the both of them. "You're free from my ordering around for a while yet son, but I'm heading to the tower already. If you're planning on heading out with the Laerethe, then do tell me I would like to know. The elves are probably fine, but you can do with them what you will. I trust you." Clapping the boy on the shoulder before starting out the room. "And Jaebelltiah...do try to not cause trouble today. I worried enough last night." Thus off with him leaving his place and heading to the tower.
She blushed, turning face scaling slight pink as always as seh scratched at her horns in embarassed fashion at Lycear's words as he was prompt and then walked off to get to his own work. And then her look turned to Kaznec. "Well...kinda yes and kinda know? And no I didn't come here absurdly early, I stayed the night because I got back so late. But you know...it's just, nice to see you before you put on the Commander boots and such." Giving him a smile. "And I'll have maps for you later. Want breakfast?" For dragons, it was usually something meat. Clumsy she may be but she could cook actually.

She shook her head. "No, I don't. I just wish I could hear from them and know that everything is okay with all of us. I know they worry and I'm half afraid my father is going to pop up and drag me home every time I turn around." Taking a sip, she clinked her fingers on the glass and nodded. "I was thinking of perhaps signing on at the inn as a cook if I could find nothing else. Then at the very least I'd be doing something I can enjoy even if it's not my first love." Glancing out the rather large window, she pressed a hand to the pane. "Indeed. Would you like to meet them? They're very sweet."

Giving a nod to them both, he took a seat at the table across from them. "Yes, I was reading and I decided to wait and see if she would contact me after I gave her those lists to read over yesterday." He gave a solemn nod to his father as he walked out. "Thank you." And then turning back to Jae, noting the flush on her face. Always clumsy Jaebelltiah. He knew she was comic relief for some of the guards but Gods help them if he caught them snickering on duty. "I never asked, you don't have to explain to me." Though a glance down at his regular boots in confusion before he understood. "Maps of the previous searches? That's good, thank you. And breakfast would be nice too, what do I have to do this time to be graced with your cooking?" Not a joke, she had actually given him terms the last time...

Okay, enough waiting. and around the house up a bit, through a window with his trusty lockpicks, and then just follow his instincts. didn't take long to find the right room, and open the door, close it and brandish his weapon at the more open one.
"Not a sound. I'm not here to fight, I'm here on the basis of magical inquiry."
keeping his cutlass out though.
"Now, lady necromancer, I have questions. I need to know what this.." picking the shard out of his pocket, "...can do. and how to operate it. after that, I'm out of your hair for the time being, and I'll pay for the service, savvy?"

"If your father was going to come after you, he would of done so by now. I'm sure that all the parents talked and made decisions and maybe figured that you are going to get this chance. Look at it this way...my parent's let me go and I'm at a far greater disadvantage than you." Giving a light chuckle or sorts. "So stop with the paranoia and just relax. And that sounds like a fine idea...you may have to make the money for a bit, it's going to be a little harder for me. Anyone else up?" A considering look adn then a nod. "Sure, why not. Chy needs to hunt anyway."
But her attention was turned then at sounds and she frowned as she recognized the voice, dipping her head so he couldn't see her eyes, and throwing an arm up in front of SHyrae as well to tell her to keep still for the moment. "You again..." Crap he was asking about something, quick sight jack the pirate...wasn't like he would know. Smirk at the deal. "Savvy, Captain."
Thusly doing so, she looked through his eyes at the thing she was being handed. Wasn't it amusing that he was eager enough to play by her rules? And paranoia spiking as well. Reaching out, she took the shard. "There's immense magic coming from this. It's...alteration magics...as for operating it, well I'd have to run a few trials." Clutching it in her palm and stepping back from him. "I want my gold back in double.
A blink and that 'oops made a mistake' look. "Well...just thought you may be wondering...not everyday you wake up to find me in your kitchen. But yes that's what your father had me doing last evening. So whatever it is you're going to do...you should be good. Not as well off as you would be if you had the actual cartographer, but well enough." Smiling before turning to get to breakfast. Some ham steaks and eggs, simple yet filling and soon enough she was sitting a plate in front of him, and plopping down across from him with her own plate. Aw he remembered. "How about just give me a bit of time with Kaznec? I miss him."

And in return, he gave her that 'it's ok' look. "My father and I entertain many guests, sometimes my home feels more like a tavern. I think I would rather wake up seeing you in the kitchen than a complete stranger." Besides, she'd stayed here more than once. He was used to it. More of a friend to the family than a mere member of the Guard now. "I trust in your abilities, J- Bell." Right, had to constantly remind himself of that. But he pulled the plate of food towards himself and picked up a fork, looked delicious indeed. "Thank you." Then a puzzled look up at her. "I'm here..." Odd girl, spoke in riddles sometimes...

"If I found a complete stranger in my kitchen, I'd be worried." Not that she had a kitchen...she really didn't have a place to herself. Either stayed in guard housing or with the current Guard Strategist. He was not a pleasant fellow. A smile at him across the table though as he corrected himself. "It's okay to call me what you want Kaznec, I just like giving you a hard time is all." Was it cute or frustrating that that went over his head. Then again it was always best to be direct with him.
"I mean just us. You know, you're not by boss and we're not playing guard. Remember how we used to just spend time together? Just talking, going flying and such, and then I'd trip over my own tail or something and so on..." Shrugging her shoulders lightly. She'd always been rather attached to him, but he wasn't attached to anyone ever it seemed. Man of duty, or had been since his mishap. "But I know, you have the city to look out for and you're about to go somewhere. I probably shouldn't be sucking up your time. Guess breakfast is condition free this time."

Shyrae spun the moment she heard something at the window and she had her dagger out in a moment, her other hand used to rune him to the spot. She was none too happy to see him and her face told him that quite clearly. Savvy's reaction caused her to lose her concentration and the runic hold broke and she merely held the dagger and waited. Cocky human thinking he could take on two elves but those who were so frail often were that cocky. She studied the shard and quirked an eyebrow. Thievery again... "No tricks and no cheating her this time pirate or I'll rip your arm off and beat you with it."

"and what praytell are alteration magics. you know for those of us that don't dabble in magic. though as to your gold. I'll grant you one and a half your former purse. that's still a considerable jump in your income seeing as you had virtually none after I relieved you of it for the damage you caused. Not to mention that I'm in a bit of a hurry, and that's as much as I have on my person at the present time."
lying but hey, she didn't know that. probably had triple what he'd taken from her, if you count the gambling and the impulsive pickpocketing on the way.
"Not to mention I'd prefer certain city officals and thier child-like guest didn't get thier paws on that." ((Jason wait your turn! Now edit to me.))

Because for one thing, he'd felt somewhat of a duty to protect her ever since he knew about her past and also, he knew where she stayed when she wasn't here... Guard bunkers was not top choice in housing. For one thing, they had not been built to comfortably accommodate the dragon-folk since most had their own lodgings in the city. He took another bite of the ham, chewed and swallowed in time. Then looked up at her reminiscence and gave a soft smile. She was rarely this pessimistic. "Good breakfast deserves some kind of payment. Besides, did you not see? I'm not scheduled for shifts today." Thus lay the open invitation for her.
