And before she moved, she took her emergency flare back from the creature with a nod. "I know. I didn't light this one for a reason... just what are you, anyways?" Then, she saw Ruuvan move, and shook her head.
"Never mind- try and keep up, if you want to follow."
With that, she quickly walked after him, looking ahead... and yet, looking down at the same time. The steps had to be careful, and yet they had to move quickly at the same time. She hadn't figured out the trap yet, but she didn't want to find out what it did right now.
Indeed, the trap was simple- one of these stones was loose. It acted as a trigger. If the stone was stepped on, the trap would activate, though what exactly the walls would do was unknown at this time. As for terms of speed... the trap was also timed. If one stayed in one spot for more than three seconds, the runes would light up, and the trap would activate anyway.
However, each stone looked the same... same weight, same width, as if those who built this place had some sense of order. Unfortunately, pondering what civilization built this place would have to come later. At the moment, the travelers had to focus on crossing a trap that expanded for the next twenty feet, with any one of the stones being the trigger.

The thing, frankly was going to be an a**. The way to trigger the trap was the floor, no? Then why bother with the floor? Delicately taking a few steps back, He began running, right at Claire's back. Footsteps with a soft, delicate 'thip thip thip thip', quickly followed by a launch, and a loud 'POOF!' Dust blew past them, carried on the wind of the creature's momentum... But that was the problem, wasn't it? The creature wasn't behind them.... or infront of them. After the dust passed Ruuvan, and reached the other side, the sound of vaccuum could be heard, ending with a small 'Thwip,' as the creature landed, dust gone. He turns on heel, and watches quietly. "Light of foot would be wise. Test your toes, and never flatfoot." He suggests.

Random Stranger #36 The thing, frankly was going to be an a**. The way to trigger the trap was the floor, no? Then why bother with the floor? Delicately taking a few steps back, He began running, right at Claire's back. Footsteps with a soft, delicate 'thip thip thip thip', quickly followed by a launch, and a loud 'POOF!' ::The memory echoed in the boys head. A conversation with a young man, the boy stood in silence with his eyes wandering off. He had yet to touch the trap, or take a step forward since he was warned of the traps existance. "Well, what if dey just appear behind me and cuts me?! I dont want to gets cuts!"
A young mans voices, about in his late 30's responded with a chuckle.
"Dont worry little one...someone is always watching your back..."The moment the man vanished, the eyes and mouth of the skull insignia on the boys back would glow a rich purple. Having already taken off running he was ahead of Mr.Darky Dark when the man chose to vanish. Almost instantly the counterspell was cast. Teleportation is a skill that has cost many their lives, it has caused some to vanish into walls and die. It has caused others who were merely standing in the wrong place to be smooshed by the wieght of another piece of matter attempting to occupy the same space as them. Worse, some people have been victim of sly and sneaky assassins who cant be bothered with actually sneaking and so simply teleport in, slash, and vanish. This boy was meant to be protected from such things. Instinctivey as he ran forward, the boy extended his left hand and a bit of the darker corners of the room seeped and gathered in the palm of his hand. In the span of a heartbeat it formed into the shape of a vase, the vase was only about 12 inches tall and was eteched with shades of grey and black. The child was too enraptured in his running to even see what happened next. As the sand drifted it would seem like a powerful wind picked up around it. Yet only the sandy particles would feel it. It was a black wind, as dashes of black were seen in the counter-storm. This storm served the sole purpose of funnelling the sand into the vase, and sealing the vase tight. The split second it sealed the secondary defenses were activated. Several dozen circular runes looking like a series of O's connected in a complex web, appeared around the vase. This served to magically, hermetically, and dimensionally seal the vase. All teleportation spells would be caught by the rune and reflected back inside the vase. Air, and wind, were nothing but memories. Any cracks were immediately healed, even as they were being made. In truth the storm was just a show, an anti-magic field inverted is what caused the particles to be stirred inwards. The anti-magic serving to negate any magic and or supernatural effects present in the sand. Thusly stopping any attempts to superspeed the sand, or teleport it further, or any attempts the creature may make to immediately re-form before the spell was complete. And the sucking feeling? That would be the feeling of a rift tearing open in this plane in order to create the pocket dimension in the vase. Such things lead to a very very powerful void and pull. Thankfully the pre-set spell was able to focus the suction at its intended target...the creature. In a bright room this wouldnt have worked, but the outside world where the boy was...was not certainly not very bright. Inside the vase, the room seemed just big enough to be extremely cramp for whoever was unlucky enough to be stuck inside. They wouldnt feel like they were stuck in a 1ft tall vase, because the pocket dimension was much larger, but on the outside they infact were. The world around the target would be like a giant visor. One could see out of the bottle very clearly, even though it wasnt infact clear. He could see for instance, the boys hand, and the path, they were taking. It seemed like it was a bit much of a prison for one freaky creature exploding into sand...but the prison wasnt made for him. It was made for those who would try to teleport, superspeed, or otherwise magically transfer themselves behind the child. And while the ability of Mr.Darky Dark was not targeting the area behind the boy, it was infact activating behind him, and moving into the area behind him...thusly trapping him. Such powers were way beyond the level of the boy himself, or his comprehension, but infact were far beneath those that sent him. All the creature would know, was that one moment everything was going normal, but when he tried to land, he landed here. Thusly, confusion would probably reign. For now, all D knew was that he had a very fancy new bottle to play with. And that he was to be very careful, he was sure never to stay in one place, and his feet were light enough to be on and off any time before it ever fell.:: ((Sorry, the trap was there way before you actually showed up. I was hoping to use it on the Valkrye, but you triggered it first. sweatdrop ))

And the trap was cleared.
They moved on until they reached a t-junction at the end of the hallway, with the gem gleaming brightly as they headed to the right. The sounds of their footsteps echoed through the hallways, along with another set. A heavier set. A few pebbles fell from the ceiling as they moved forward...
And something fell in front of them! A figure... three of them. More noises behind them... and then more of them, back where the last hallway ended. Nine in all.
Lizard Men. How else could one explain them crawling up the walls; on the ceiling? It also explained what those noises were earlier. Right- that's all fine and dandy, but here was the question. What now?
This wasn't a trap or a trial, but a scouting party. They were lightly armed- if one could call 27" long scimitars that were 4" wide light. Each blade weighed around 35 pounds and had a considerably thin edge. Thin and sharp, at that. In any event, they eyed them with malevolence, their black eyes shining cruelly... But did not move.
One of them spoke.
"Leave.... now."

With D's little teleportation countermeasure stopping the mysterious person before he could pass by him, Ruuvan was oblivious to the fact he had even tried to come with them. Aside from the voices he had heard, which he did assume came from the dark figure, there was no longer something materialising ahead of him, so he had to assume said figure took a detour or decided to leave them.
Smiling due to the fact they had avoided one of the traps, the group continued on until the next bout of monsters decided to show up. Needless to say Ruuvan drew one of his blades, but he made no attempt to attack this time, wanting to try the diplomatic approach instead of going in sword-happy. "I don't have any quarrel with you, Lizardman." It was the only way he could say it, "I seek out the Valkyre, not to destroy what you possibly call home." They obviously knew what godlike being lived below and maybe they would respect his wishes, but he was ready to fight should they have said no.

"Hn. I know not of this... Valkyrie you speak of. All I know is that you are tresspassing on our grounds. Once again..."
The cold-blooded reptiles approached silently from behind, closing the gap while the one who was apparently the leader spoke. They weren't planning on lettting them leave with their limbs intact if he said no again.
"Leave."

Brass stayed silent with his hood up for most of the trip through the desert. Though he trusted the man to lead him the right way, he constantly kept his earth magic running through his fingertips. Which were hidden inside of his cloak pockets.
When they came upon the sign, he snorted at the cryptic warning, he had seen that many times before around Gaia, and up to this day he had yet to become the dead man they spoke of.
As they entered the cave, Brass' mouth dropped abit in amazement. His couple of hidden places were nice, but not made of glass. That added a sort of rich taste to the whole look of the place, but he refused to be jealous, there was no reason for it. So he simply leaded against one of the walls and nodded his head.
"That'd be great."

Sunstrike Something exploded within Sun as the creatures head came into view. He had to struggle to maintain a grip on himself as the voice boomed in his mind. So even though his face was still human, barely, it was a clawed, black hand that slipped around Vahn's upper bicept, the other arm holding Tellus comfortably in place. " Antharas?!" He whispered to the other man in a bit of a panic. " Isn't he...I mean...weren't you supposed to have... He collected himself, shaking. "Vahn...why is the demon god of lizards stuck in the floor and not dead?"Vahn felt Sun's voice tug on him, and even the claws. It was half a second of realization... before he turned his attention back on the surprise guest. "Teh! Old bastards like you should just learn to die already!" That familiar scowl, with knitted eyebrows, and the loud mouth... even in the face of such a ancient, Vahn still mouthed off. Antharas' head was the only thing that protruded from the main chamber's floor, hundreds upon hudreds of chains lashed over it and staked into the ground. Even from here... the sight looked almost pitiful. Your lack of respect will be the death of you... Son of Fah.The guttural laughter sounded out in all their heads, the dragon's mouth obviously never moving as he spoke. This is bad...! Who knew such a thing was kept here... of all places!"I always wondered where you got off too... Looks like you didn't fare any better than I did." ((For size refrence.))

"Leave." : biggrin id he read an encyclopedia at home or something?:: Now wook. :: D spoke up, with his hands placed firmly on his hips. Oh he planned to be heard, one way or another.:: You are all wizard-peoples, and dis is a cold cold cave. Dheres no sun, no light, ish bad for something cold bwooded. ::He lifted up the red ruby.:: Dis can give you de power to make it vewy hot, all the time. We just want to gets this turned on, den we will weave, and neva eva come back. K? ::As his spoke, the boys right hand twitched slightly. It was the sort of twitch you see a cowboy make while his hands rests over the holset, of course the boy had no holster, and from the plan look of him, the only things he had were a loli-pop in his mouth. A sealed vase with strange purple symbols in his left, and the ruby in his right. Nothing else. And in this case looks were not decieving.::

More talking... no walking. Okay then.
Diplomacy was over as the child finished his speech. The leader's eyes narrowed- apparently these humans before them did not know the meaning of the word 'leave'. This was their territory, sunlight or no; heat or no. It was the last one they had left. The volcano underneath which they lived- which wasn't that far from the travellers' current position- gave them enough warmth. At least, until it was silenced. That wouldn't be for a long time, and they pretty much knew this.
Indeed, the air temperature had been slowly rising ever since they had entered these expansive caves, and as they went further, the heat became more oppressive. It was still notably cooler than the desert above, but once they got in proximity of the mountain of fire...
...They would see why the lizards have survived down here for so long. In fact, they had entered the fringes of their territory now, and would meet challenge just about everywhere they went, unless they avoided the patrols. Which surprisingly, was easier than it sounded.
But for now...
"So be it."
Three of the six from behind raised their weapons and made an attempt to slice Ruuvan in two, while the other three made to stab the boy through his chest in one simple movement... before Claire stepped forward and swung her much longer and wider machete from her left to her right with the edge parallel to the ground, quickly moving in front of D before she did so.
The weapons were knocked aside by the flat of the blade and she charged forward, her shoulder lowered towards the scouts. Now, it would take considerable strength, even with adrenaline added on top of the body's natural response to threats, in order to actually push these guys back.
Claire had taken them by surprise and knocked their weapons off balance, but they still had a strong stance... meaning that none moved when she plowed into them. She stumbled a ways back, but regained her footing and took a stance.
Once their surprise wore off, they were angry. Their voices were no longer voices anymore, just roars and growls of ire. No... diplomacy was over.

Halycanos went on with his business as he came inside, grabbed Brass' Dr. Pepper, and then went off to the bedroom, talking the whole time.
"Alright. It's only 1:32 right now, so if we lay down to sleep now, we'll wake up just at seven, I think. Eight maybe. From here it's a twelve hour walk to Strata. If we leave at 9 we can beat the heatwave. Or, we can set up camp at sun up, and chill out so we can make the remaining treck the enxt night. It's up to you really..."
When his little speach was over, he had changed clothes entirely... --->

Lizard people, being the stubborn type they were, had a habit of standing by what they had said. As such, as soon as D opened his mouth to show the Lizards they were being defied, Ruuvan already drew his second blade and lowered his stance ever so slightly in preparation of the attack.
With both swords drawn as the scouts came from behind him, he was definitely in a better position than if he was unprepared and had only one blade, so success of his move would be increased. As soon as the claws tapping against the ground sounded behind him he turned, facing the three that were coming at him with their weapons ready. Even with the sword ratio and 3:2 against him, Ruuvan was confident in what he could pull off. Without waiting for the swords to get closer, Ruuvan swung out with his right blade and deflected one of the Lizardman's swords into the one in the centre of the group, thus putting two of them out of harms way. Then, using his left, Ruu performed much the same motion in the opposite direction to knock the final sword off its course. Alongside this second deflection, he continued to press his sword against the scimitar, pushing it towards one of the other attacker's chest, using the swords momentum and Lizardman's strength to take down one of his friends.
With his left now being used in a counter, he pushed his right sword off the first scimitar he deflected and used it as a springboard to come back at the first Lizardman (i.e. the first attacker's sword he deflected) in an attempt to cut the monsters head off. If this was successful, two of the first three would be down and he would be left in a perfect position to kill the other.

And thus, two of the lizards on Ruuvan's end were killed- the one in the center, and the one to the right. However, they were waiting for this. Note that there were nine of them... and the three that were at the end of the hallway where the junction began were approaching. So as soon as they saw their brethren locking swords with the invader, they advanced... via the walls.
Two of them scaled the walls, moving quite quickly towards Ruuvan's position, while the other one advanced from behind and shoved the still-warm corpse that used to be the attacker in the center at him with a shoulder charge. A bristle of weapons and bodies would come at him all at once, and while that was happenning, the two at his sides slashed at the elven warrior's temples, aiming to cut into the sides of his head.
Meanwhile, the battle at the other end was raging onward, Claire holding her own with her scimitar... though she was hard-pressed to do so. One fast stroke after another came at her, their attacks coming forth one at a time in order to prevent them from cuttting each other.
At least this group was less bloodthirsty... and much less prone to use each other for shields, though that was not beyond them. The reason? This was the leader's team. But though their strikes came swiftly and in organized strokes, her longer reach beat them eventually.
Not to mention that with one sword, she had more freedom of movement, and dodged more attacks than she parried or blocked. Thus, she slowly began to push the three of them back all by herself...
But this advantage would not last for long.

With two of his six beaten, Ruuvan was still in a pretty good position to defend himself against the next attacks as two more scaled the walls towards him and another pushed the corpse towards him. Having brought both his swords in since the first bout of deflections, Ruuvan had full use of his arms and quickly moved himself to push the corpse into the wall climber towards his right. Using this push to give him some momentum in the other direction, he lowered his stance to avoid the left attacker's blade and performed an upwards slash with his left sword in order to slice said attacker in half, or knock him off the wall at best.
Once the walls were clear, or at least avoided, Ruuvan used his right sword in a powerful slash to knock the two frontal attacker's swords to the side, allowing him to perform and quick yet powerful charge into both of them. With this knocking them off balance, he'd be able to swing the left sword around in a powerful strike to take down the left one of the two frontal people. Then, with his right sword extended to his far right, and hopefully with the right attacker still dazed, he could bring it back to his left, also moving his left sword to the right, in a scissor move to decapitate the remaining lizard. All of this would require extreme speed and agility, which Elves had in abundance, but it would clear the last four and leave him available to help D and Claire.

Ruuvan Having brought both his swords in since the first bout of deflections, Ruuvan had full use of his arms and quickly moved himself to push the corpse into the wall climber towards his right. The lizard on the wall was quite frustrated when his blade dug into his dead comrade's skull instead of the intruder's. But it wasn't because he was worried about his partner- it was because he had missed his intended target. He hopped from the wall to the ground, snarling at Ruuvan and coming towards him, now much more cautious. Ruuvan Using this push to give him some momentum in the other direction, he lowered his stance to avoid the left attacker's blade and performed an upwards slash with his left sword in order to slice said attacker in half, or knock him off the wall at best. The attack missed and Ruuvan's attack landed, cutting across and through the lower back of the assailant, making him fall off the wall in two pieces. Ruuvan Once the walls were clear, or at least avoided, Ruuvan used his right sword in a powerful slash to knock the two frontal attacker's swords to the side, allowing him to perform and quick yet powerful charge into both of them. CLANG SHING CHING The other two went down hard, Ruuvan's blades flashing in the torch light as he mowed through his opponents like wheat. Left in his wake were a trail of dead bodies, some still warm. Of course, just when he thought it was over, the sound of a blade being dislodged from flesh was heard. Remember the other one? It had been watching the battle... and now had two scimitars at the ready, whirling them around expertly before assuming a stance. _____________________________________________________________ "Dammit!" Claire in the meantime, had her blade locked with the other three swords, trying to find a way out of her current situation. One of them could have had the mind to kick out at her, if they had much of one that was not slightly mad in the first place. They pressed against her machete, putting most of their weight into the weapon lock. Of course, this gave her enough insight to know that their legs were a viable target, and she turned her hips and waist while she was crouched, twisting her blade and pulling their weight, along with the scimitars, forwards. Thus unbalanced, she lashed out with her right leg in a sweep, taking their feet out from underneath them. With that, she rolled to her right, took two steps up the wall to her left, and twisted once in the air in order to give force and weight to her next strike... A guillotine chop to the neck of the nearest lizard, sending his head rolling from his body. The other two got back up and glared at her menacingly as she deprived the dead scout of his weapon, brandishing both of them with skill and precision. "Come on, then. Try me."
