Pirate Dirge ;] Morals are subjective so I'm not going to touch that one. I'm not a romantic about the past at all, so I have a feeling it wasn't as nice as people like to paint it to be.And I wasn't saying it was as nice. Truly, there is no time I'd rather live in than now. And I was mostly getting at the fact that people were taught (right or wrong) a value system, and were taught to stand for something and to work for what they got. Today we are taught that convenience is the most important thing of all, and that work is for suckers.

Woodlock And I was mostly getting at the fact that people were taught (right or wrong) a value system, and were taught to stand for something and to work for what they got. Today we are taught that convenience is the most important thing of all, and that work is for suckers. Although I do agree, I'd like to politely point out that not everyone is like this. Me, I do my work and I do what it takes to protect myself, my body, and my boyfriend. I put myself on birth control, I've been tested for STD's, and if I have a coldsore, I'm overly-cautious so that I don't spread it to my boyfriend or anybody else. When it comes to work, I'm a janitor in a local mall. I hate cleaning up after people, especially women in some cases (some of them are THE biggest pigs when it comes to the washrooms! gonk ), but when it comes to actually doing my job, I give it 100%. Why? Because I understand that my boss did not have to hire me, and he chose to. That deserves my respect and my effort. I like my co-workers, and my wage isn't bad. So yes, I am a lazy a** sometimes, and I don't always try my best, but 9 times out of 10 when I'm working, I will be doing my best to earn my paycheck and do my job correctly. Especially now that I'm moving out of the house, and I understand that Mom and Dad won't pay for everything for me forever, so I might as well start working and do my best to hold down a job, so I can show people how mature and responsible I am. 3nodding (Although in regards to your comment, I have heard some of the whiniest teenagers ever while I've been at work. eek I heard one girl talking to a parent on her cellphone once, when I was upstairs cleaning the washroom... she stood in the middle of the floor, yelling into the phone. I remember her saying something like, "I don't care! I want you to get it for me NOW!" ...Spoiled brat. stare )

I tend to think times were the same as now, we just have more time to gripe about how bad things are and more communication means.

I need a place to rant and therefore my rant will go -here-.
I hate it so frickin' much when you have a friend who is a really good friend in real life and when they gt on Gaia they get frustrated that you have like 50x the gold they do (if not more) or you have some nifty donation item they want. stare
So because they're your friend(s) and you love them; not to mentin they won't stop nagging you in real life. You decide to be nice at Christmas and wrap up this donation item they keep begging you to borrow (and you don't use it anymore). And you give it to them.
Then lo' and behold; just a few weeks later yoiu find their store in the Market Place and they're selling your gift they begged you for weeks/months for just so they can get a donation item they like more!!! scream
[/end rant]

-random rant of rantiness-
ROAD RAGE I swear, is the whole "slower traffic keep to the right" thing just an old archaic tradition now? Is this just not taught anymore? What happened to decent drivers?!
THREE times today I was almost involved in an accident due to idiots in other cars. Now, I'm not saying I'm a perfect driver, but I think I'm pretty good. I do NOT talk on cell phones while driving (I don't even own a cell phone anymore). I do NOT apply makeup or other such trivial stupid things while driving (I don't even like makeup). I do NOT fiddle obcessively with the radio while driving. I use my ******** blinkers. I check my blind spots when switching lanes. And, when in doubt, I drive like a paranoid person because my children are most likely in the car with me at any given time, so I drive as safely as possible as to not endanger them, obviously.
So WHY can't other people do that?! Everyday some fantastic moron chooses to single me out of all cars on the road and try to swerve into me or cut me off or pull out in front of me. Luckily I have always had enough time to slam on my brakes and prevent anything bad from happening, but who's to say my luck will continue? Where do these assholes learn to drive? Am I the ONLY person who RESPECTS the fact that you're basically driving around in a 1 to 2 ton weapon? Cars have the capacity to kill people and yet these 'tards just bebop around like they're driving nice, soft, fluffy clouds of love.
And GAWD FORBID you honk at the moron! Oh hellz no. You get cussed at or flipped off, or at worst, chased down and followed.
Funny story, I honked at a moron one time for cutting me off when we were stationed up in Delaware. This guy actually proceeded to follow me all the way home (I guess to cuss me out in person or something else crazy)..... until I pulled up at the gate outside of base housing where the guard holding the shiney M-16 was standing. a*****e then promptly turned around and left. HARHAR!!
But srsly, LEARN HOW TO ******** DRIVE, AMERICA!! If you can't drive, then stop being in denial about it and remain a shut-in for the rest of your days before you KILL someone.
Aaaahhhh... I feel better now.

Hehe, I get really worked up over this stuff too and I think that societal attitudes and changing standards are the main culprits. People are a lot more careless and discourteous in general.

Driving makes me nervous because I know I'm still a learning driver (when I get my licence again), but because I've seen how poorly other people drive.

Nikolita Yep. 3nodding I liked your original post btw. Thanks smile On the current driver-related rant, I thought of this as I was wandering the meandering halls of the internet: http://www.vgcats.com/comics/?strip_id=77and I know exactly how you feel. Just remember that there's no difference in ratio of stupid drivers to good drivers in urban vs city areas, just the concentration. There's just alot more of 'em in some places.
