Lillian's goods were given a rather big, broad smile.

"This is excellent, trainee. A rabbit and a fish. Both great sources of protein. The garlic is also edible - and all this drinkable water is wonderful. You've done very good today, very, very good. I applaud your snarework and your fishing."

Ervette gave a nod.

"Fantastic work."

Ervette glanced down at the flower before she plucked it from the trainee's hand and shoved it into her mouth. She chewed thoughtfully and gave Alister a long look.

"Aside from that muddy water, trainee, you'll survive. So long as you aren't wandering around wasting flowers in your hair," she gave him A Look, "instead of eating them. The mushrooms are good. The flowers, as you've seen, are edible. That potato is quite edible, as well - and so are those berries."

She chuckled.

"Nicely done. I think you'll do just fine."

At least she had been correct in being able to filter the water, that was a relief to her. Rennati listened intently at the instructor's instructions and then watched closely as she explained the conical contraption. With a quick nod, she took the water purifier. "Thank you! I will!" She said before wandering off again, glad she had, hopefully, passed that part of the course.

Alec had gone out with the intention that water, first and foremost was important. Wandering into the woods, he found a stream, crouching down nearly tripping into the running water as he collected his first sample. Unfortunately the next canteen he filled was not as good as the first, the other water samples were a bit dirty. Only some of it boiled well, the ladder he wasn't so sure about.

Along his way back to camp, he found some wild growing brown spotted mushrooms that he believed were perhaps edible based on meals he'd had in the past. Although, it was hard to tell with such things. He also managed to find a wild growing vegetable around the same time that he was half certain was an onion. Once done with his scavenger hunt her returned to Erevette handing over what he'd collected for her inspection.

"Here you go ma'm!" He smiled at her warmly, feeling none to guilty he hadn't trapped the rabbit he tried for earlier..having purposely let the little guy go even if he would have likely tasted good.

October Survival Training

While Ervette was the training compounds survival basics instructor, she frequently would take off into the forest, or mountains that surrounded the area. Yet for her absence she always made up for it in her pleasant demeanor. Rain nor shine, there was never a better time to be able bodied and alive. After the morning meal, the green haired woman entered the mess hall; several minutes before the bell would have rang as per usual. Her wild green hair did nothing to hide the excitement, nor vigor in her step. Her appearance must have seemed a little strange, but she took no notice. Within the mess hall, she began calling out to the new trainees, looking for those whom were meant to spend the day with her as scheduled.

“Alright! Trainees, listen up!” Her voice cut above the chatter, commanding their attention. “I want to see the following trainees on the field pronto.” Ervette cleared her throat, and without fail began blasting off last names. She held no list in hand, as if she’d memorized them all. Even her pronunciation was spot on. With her roll call complete, she paused, making sure she'd caught the twenty new faces attentions respectively.

“Instead of morning class, you’ll be training with a partner of my choosing with your hand to hand combat skills! Exciting right?” She sounded confident, even chuckling a little. “I just want to see some basic moves demonstrated, each of you will practice your skills on one another." With that, she stood at attention, saluting smartly and departing from the doors she'd so boldly marched in, presumably to the field.

As those trainees whom had been called out approached the training field, Ervette began pointing, calling out their last names, and assigning them at random to work with one another. She stands back, waiting for the last few stragglers to catch up. A quick head count, meant she could begin her demonstration. Showing them proper fighting stance poses to start, she moved herself into a strong fist strike. For several minutes, she also explained the proper method to grapple, and to avoid running from punches. The woman's demo ended on a high note, about proper breathing, and paying special attention to address the fact not everyone necessarily was as good as the other.

"I want to stress to everyone, I know a lot of you might have zero experience. If you do not feel comfortable, stick around we'll get you up to speed. Once you are done with your initial partner, you may choose to pair up with another. Regardless, after you are done and satisfied with your practice, I will be around if you wish for additional sparring lessons. Otherwise you are free to go. We'll be spending the next month together, so get comfy," she concluded, leaning against the fence just behind her before making a motion for everyone to begin.

The mess hall was full of the normal chatter and laughter that occurred while the recruits where eating, and Saoirse had just finished her food when the instructor walked in. The ginger was getting used to people having a hard time with her name so it came as a great surprise to the girl when her name was called correctly.

Seers could tell that this was going to be an awesome month. The trainee listened carefully to Ervette's words and quickly followed the instructor to training field. "Hey" She chirped back to her partner before the other strode off to show one of the other trainees who they were supposed to fight. "It's fine." Saoirse got into the stance that had been shown to them and watched the other girl carefully.

As Ervette issued instructions and demonstrated basic combat technique, Jaime heaved a sigh, blowing a stray strand of hair out of his face. Practise fights. Great. He was not really sure how one on one combat was relevant. Out in the field their opponents would be, at the very least, double their size. Many would be larger. Much larger. Bigger-than-houses larger. A more realistic training exercise would pit them against a tree. But maybe this exercise was not about fighting Titans. Maybe it was just a way of honing their reflexes. Sure. That seemed about right.

When the demonstration finished, Ervette began to pair up trainees. Following Jaime's name was a name best described as unrecognisable. Yesenia what? It was someone he didn't know. That came as no surprise. Jaime hardly knew anyone. He had a tendency to keep to himself. Scanning the crowd, Jaime searched for anyone who might look like a... Yesenia. By the walls, he sure hoped he was pronouncing that correctly.

A moment later, he heard someone else call his name: a taller, silver-haired girl wearing an inane grin. Another girl, one with green hair, stood beside her, whispering frantically into her friend's ear. As she did, she pointed at Jaime. He felt the familiar heat of irritation burning in his chest. Were they talking s**t about him?

The green haired girl left and the silver haired girl approached him. Jaime swallowed his budding annoyance and looked up to meet her eyes.. "Yesenia?" he guessed, trying to imitate how he thought Ervette had pronounced it. "I'm Jaime. Nice to meet you." There was a pause, where he considered what to say next. Small talk was not his forte. "I'm ready whenever you are. If you want you can come at me first, practise a few punches." He kept his voice level. He did not seem particularly enthused about the exercise.

Raising his fists, Jaime slipped into the stance that Ervette had earlier demonstrated. It felt weird and admittedly a little bit silly. Usually when he brawled, there was no technique. Just swinging and ducking and hoping that he was faster than his opponent. Still, he could see the benefit. His arms provided a ready shield.
