Sydelle West

You're not a hero, you're a liar...

Sydelle watched her companions fight, saying nothing but observing closely. They were strong fighters, more so than the usual lethargic crowd. A regular army in fact. She called Grr so he wouldn't get too caught up in the fray and end up surrounded by zombies. She fought the few stragglers that managed to get to her. She wasn't as vicious as the others, leaving headless walking corpses and holes in their chests. But they fell just the same.

...you're not a savior, you're a vampire.

Kary made her way down the street, Desirae following behind. It would take a while to get there, and Kary wasn't exactly going to try and pass the time with a conversation, especially with the way she was feeling at the moment. Awkward silence it was, then.
Kary took a sniff of the air, and immediately recognized it. Though it was slightly different, she could tell the park was nearby. Soon enough, they entered an open area, which brought back a lot of memories. There was a swingset, albeit dented and rusting, not to mention one of the swings was partially loose. There was also a merr-go-round that was knocked off the small turntable underneath, and a few springy rockers, one of which was completely severed and lying on the ground, beaten and battered. There was little grass here, as it was mostly dirt, which would make the burial a little easier. Kary walked over to the center, and looked around. Giving a little sigh of nostalgia, she said, "Let's bury him right here." she looked at the ground as a gesture. She just didn't know how they were going to bury Kyle, since they didn't have any shovels on them. "It's as good a spot as any. We never had a preference in area when we came here."

Icarius looked around at the street layout, now completely assured that they
were safe for the moment. He observed the street numbers through his
helmet and was able to call up the map from memory on the inside of his
helmet and pinpointed where they had been heading. He saved that particular
image by uttering a few small would-be-meaningless-to-Coraline-and-Xavier
phrases, and looked to the two of them again before he took off his helmet to
address them more personally.

"We shouldn't give up on our main mission. If we jump across this next
rooftop, and climb down, we should be able to avoid the sight of the zombies
and by taking the next street over and proceeding across the avenue, we
should also be able to make the supermarket in time to scout out the area
before moving in,"
he said with determination and as if he had lead team
oriented scouting missions before, though perhaps never to a so-called
supermarket before. Either way his leadership skills were quite good.

Icarius explained the best way to the supermarket. And best, it was clear of
infected. Xavier gave Icarius a firm pat on the shoulder, saying "Well then,
what are we waiting for?"

With a smirk, Xavier vaulted over the rooftop, landing on the building
next to them. It was a smaller gap than the last one; easy.
He wondered if Icarius knew he was testing him.
"Coming?" He called over to the pair,
then disappeared out of sight, as he climbed down the fire escape.

The Cycle brings Pain,
Pain brings life,
Life brings joy,
Joy brings hope…

Fourteen days. It had been fourteen days since she first arrived on this form of Earth, and she didn’t like this place at all. She still hadn’t managed to figure out how to control her new abilities, and trying what had worked before didn’t now, but she was making some progress. But despite all of that, she had an idea why her old abilities had decided not to work anymore. She’d found a small pond the day after she’d arrived and she’d seen her eyes. She was a white. She didn’t know why, or how it’d happened, but blue had bled into the whites of her eyes., and it was the same tint as the blue she’d drafted before. Miza stood on top of the very same building she’d been on her first night here, attempting to meditate; hoping to find a way to channel her newfound abilities. It had worked once before, but that time it’d had yet another new effect. Rather than forming a blade or knocking down a zombie, this time it had made a ball, and when she tried to throw it forward, the zombie it hit had begun to disintegrate.

She couldn’t even seem to identify a specific feeling associated with these abilities other than the tingling sensation she felt while she held the drafted blue in her hand. Miza had been focused on that single sensation for what felt like an eternity, but when she’d looked up at the sun only moments ago it didn’t seem to have moved at all. She was on her knees, her legs tucked under her and he hands closed fists, knuckle pressing against knuckle, her tail flicking back and forth as if of its own free will. The method and form she was in now she’d used the first time she’d learned to use black luxin to slow down time, and she hoped that it would prove equally effective in helping her channel these abilities. She controlled her breathing, taking slow, shallow breaths; her head bowed and her eyes closed. It took a while, but she finally felt relaxed, then she took a breath and began reciting the one thing that had always helped her focus when she was learning to draft. “The cycle brings pain, pain brings life, life brings joy, joy brings hope, hope beings disappointment, disappointment brings failure, failure brings death, and death brings the cycle. The cycle will give me strength.” She repeated it for a while, then suddenly she felt a tingling sensation o n her right hand. Her eyes shot open… to see a bug on her hand.

Miza sighed, “This is gonna take a while…”

…Hope brings disappointment,
Disappointment brings failure,
Failure brings death,
Death brings the cycle.

Coraline gripped her shotgun and jumped to the next building then started climbing down the fire escape. She got to the ground with Xavier. She sneakly looked down the street seeing no infected.

She looks at her shotgun checking the bullets, there was 5 but she had more in her back pocket so it didnt really worry her. She looks down the street again seeing the supermarket, the doors were open. She looks back at Xavier"The doors are open in the supermarket."

Natalie sluggishly came to. Her head felt thick, her muscles weak, and it was almost like she was moving and seeing and hearing through jello. Groggily, she blinked open her eyes.

It took her several minutes, but she eventually realized that she was haphazardly propped up in a wheelchair. Behind her was a closed door, and through the wood, she could hear breaking glass and the rhythmic thumping of meaty, bleeding fists on the room's walls. There was a throaty, lifeless moan that sent a shiver down her spine; it was a sound she had grown to recognize and fear.

When she stumbled to her feet, she collapsed forward and onto her knees. The shock to her knees was painful, and when she finally struggled upright, her legs were sore from the impact. Putting her hand on the wall to both stabilize and guide her, Natalie slowly worked her way down the hall and around the corner.

The scene she came across jolted her awake. The doctor was moving in a way that was not entirely human, and the expression on his face made Natalie want to cower. Jasmine was frantically feeling up the walls, and the nurse...

Well, she didn't seem quite all there.

Meanwhile, there was a practically naked woman who seemed completely out of sorts and the warrior woman who Natalie vaguely remembered from before she—

Oh, right, she'd passed out. She was drugged. Had it been minutes? Hours? Days?

Clumsily, she picked up an unlabeled can of food from a nearby table and hurled it at the doctor. She'd been aiming for his head, but her arms were weak, so it collided with the small of his back instead.

"Jasmine! What's—" She broke off and coughed, her throat dry and voice hoarse. "What's the plan?" As she asked this, she stooped down and scooped up the walkie talkie—which seemed a little battered—and reached into her backpack for the sweatshirt she'd stuffed in with other supplies. As she passed by the newest arrival, she hastily draped the clothing around the woman's shoulders to cover her almost-nude body.

The Cycle brings Pain,
Pain brings life,
Life brings joy,
Joy brings hope…

It had been what felt like hours, and Miza still sat in the same position, still meditating and still reciting the Mantra. Despite her attempts she couldn’t help but be aggravated. When she’d been learning to draft for the first time she’d spent two days learning how to draft basic blue. She’d always been a quick study, but with drafting in particular she’d learned much quicker than most. It had taken her a week to master blue, and here she was, two weeks into trying to even figure out how to make this new form of blue even react to her will, and she’d gotten nowhere. She’d become so used to drafting it had been second nature to her, but now she couldn’t even draft a simple ball… In the span of a few seconds her aggravation turned to fury and rage. “Why won’t this ******** work!” She shouted, flinging her arms back, her tiny voice probably barely echoing more than two buildings away to human ears. Suddenly the tingling sensation enveloped her entire body and her eyes snapped open just in time to see a fluxing and unstable blue field erupt from her and explode outward, creating a small creator in the roof where she sat. A sound like a sonic boom wafted past her ears, causing her ears to pop and making her wince.

Her eyes wide, Miza just sat there, struggling to understand how she’d done that. “It can’t be related to rage can it? That part of me died off with Mar-“ She cut herself off. Marduk had been the physical manifestation of all the darkness within her, from her anger and tendency to be infuriated into a rage easily to the time she’d actually wished harm on people. She’d stopped herself because she’d though that part of her had been purged, but she just remembered that the Oracles had reunited them, saying she could never be herself without him. The Irony that that very part of her is what seemed to allow her to control these new abilities was not lost on her. Miza was glad she hadn’t stood up though, because a sudden fatigue rushed over her, and the realization that she hadn’t eaten in three days dawned on her. The last time she’d tried to get food she’d been attacked by one of the zombies, and without her abilities she was hardly a match for them, as she barely came up to their knees. But now, zombies or no, she needed food. She remembered a store, something similar to a supermarket, wasn’t far from where she was now, in fact it was only about a block away.

Miza quickly shook her head from side to side, like a cat, yawning since a lack of food always made her tired, then took a running leap off of the building she was on top of now, using her tiny wings to fly the distance. Last time she’d tried to get something form the supermarket she’d never made it inside, so she was clueless as to whether or not it even had power, but power or not, there had to be something edible left. As she was nearing the building, Miza noticed some bodies moving in that direction as well. She hadn’t known the zombies here could run, but in the end it didn’t matter; she needed food and that was that. Arcing her wings upward to force her into a decent she made a dive, lowering her wings and twisting her tail just in time to curve her away from the ground and back upward again. Of course, she’d forgot to mind her opening, and she smacked right into a wall less than a foot away from the open door. Miza curled up, grabbing the top of her head and biting her furry bottom lip, trying to hold back the tears, but an impact like that hurt. A lot. She knew she wouldn’t be moving much for a little while, and with those things coming this way, she was likely a goner. “s**t…”

Disappointment brings failure,
Failure brings death,
Death brings the cycle.

Icarius jumped across with the other two and made his way to the ground
after Coraline. He rollwed his shoulders back and zipped up the front of his
hoodie before he replied, "I don't think I need to tell you guys to proceed with
caution..."
He smirked towards Xavier and put on his helmet once again
before he took the gun out from his belt.

"Stick to the shadows," he said quietly in his mechnical voice. He started to
approach the supermarket and did as he had instructed; keeping to the
shadows. He made quick movement across the alleyways and slow sure
steps beside the buildings. He still had the hockey stick in his left hand, and
with the helmet and sweater he looked more like he'd just ridden into town on
a motorcycle rather than a spaceship from the future.

He got to the open doors and paused a moment to let the helmet scan a
portion of the area, though the fighter's helmet was only programmed to pick
up certain things, and most of those things didn't yet exist in this timeline,
so it wasn't any surprise that it didn't read much. It did however pick up on a
sign of life near the open doors themselves. He stepped away cautiously, but
he didn't recognise just what this thing was. It didn't look human, and Icarius
was fairly ready to fire at will against this thing. He frowned and proceeded
with caution, his helmet allowing him to see in the dark more than the
average person. "What are you?" Icarius' mechanical voice called out softly
to the creature, unwilling to risk alerting zombies in the supermarket (if there
were any) to his presence.

The Cycle brings Pain,
Pain brings life,
Life brings joy,
Joy brings hope…

Miza counted the seconds, waiting for whatever they were, whether they were actual people or zombies, to get closer. ’two-hundred and seven, two-hundred and eight, two-hundred and nine…’ It was shorter than she’d expected, but she’d recovered from the hit enough to stand, but the whole world seemed like it was spinning, which wasn’t exactly surprising with the hit on the head she’d just taken. She could see some forms lurking in the shadows, but she couldn’t really see any of their faces, not that it would matter much. To her left was a stick, though it was likely little more than a twig, and picked it up, acting as if she was even capable of defending herself with it. Miza tried to get angry, enraged, infuriated, mainly with herself for being such an idiot as to not check her openings, but she couldn’t; her head simply hurt too much for her to much care about getting angry.

Then some metallic voice, which she assumed was male, asked what she was. She sighed, “What do I look like?” then she thought about her own question, and she was seeing a Moogle in real life for the first time as a human, she’d probably say she looked like a rabbit with wings. “Don’t answer that.” She knew her voice more than likely made her sound absolutely pathetic and tiny, in other words, exactly what she was. In her current state a fully grown adult human male could probably step on her and kill her in her current state. “I’m a Moogle. Haven’t you people ever seen one before?”

Miza clutched her head, her ears constantly turning, trying to get a sense of anything coming her way, but with how her heads was hurting she couldn’t seem to focus enough for it to matter.

Disappointment brings failure,
Failure brings death,

Xavier let Icarius go first, making their way slowly down the alleyway, and towards the supermarket, which was on the other end of the street. They stuck close to the shadows, Icarius in the lead and Coraline bringing up the rear.

Xavier kept his eyes peeled, scanning the dark street for any sign of movement. Finally, they reached the supermarket. The front doors were open, and Icarius seemed to be doing something with his helmet. Suddenly, he heard Icarius' voice break the silence. "What are you?"

Xavier peered down on the floor, and did a double-take. Kneeled on the ground, was what appeared to be a small rabbit of some sort. But it had wings. What the hell was it? Xavier gasped when he heard it speak.

Okay, zombies he could handle. Spacemen from the future, sure why not? But talking, flying rabbits? This was beginning to be too much. Xavier decided to be the first to respond to the thing, which had asked if they'd ever seen one before.

"Rabbits.. Of course. Talking rabbits.. with wings? Sorry, no." Xavier said to the little creature. "What exactly are you, I mean? And.. how can you speak? Where are you from?" Xavier asked.

Coraline gripped her shotgun and looked back at Xavier "lets go.."
she walked behind Xavier, keeping a good far distance. She sticked to the shadows trying not to be seen.

They entered the supermarket, it seemed dark. Then Icarius stoped walking. He said something, like if he was talking to a person. seems someone was in there. Coraline put her finger close to the trigger, ready to fire if it was an infected.

But she didnt hear hard breathing or growling. So it didnt seem like someone who was infected. But she still kept her guard up.But soon figured out it was a rabbit with wings. Coraline put her finger away from the trigger. As Xavier asked her a question she looks at the rabbit. She has never seen a rabbit with wings before.

If Miza were in an anime, she could swear she’d have a vein sticking out of her forehead. She couldn’t exactly blame him, she herself had figured the response a rabbit with wings, but she couldn’t help that it irked her. The unstable blue luxin began to course around her right paw, but as she focused on controlling her emotions if vaporized, collapsing back into the nothing whence it came. “I just said I was a Moogle didn’t I?” Miza sighed and shook her head, her left hand still on it and muttered the word ‘humans’ under her breath. She made eye contact once again and took a deep breath to help calm herself. “If I’m not mistaken, I’m in some parallel universe,” Miza began, “I don’t know how advanced this universe got before the damn zombies came around, or how wide spread the outbreak is;, granted if this outbreak is anything like Hebrodan’s then it’s likely a form of parasitic virus, so probably wide spread.” With how high pitched her voice was, sounding something like a five or six year old girl, she doubted they took her as seriously as the people in Aliji had in her time there.

Miza turned and looked inside the dark store, longing for her old drafting abilities back. If she could draft yellow in a super-violet phial she’d have no trouble seeing, and drafting weapons was so much simpler than trying to learn how to control this new unstable blue. Not two seconds later, her stomach growled. Her head still throbbing, and while still being dizzy, she tried to walk toward the opening of the store, only to trip and fall to her right, barely catching herself with her right paw before she hit her head once again. Miza hated asking for help with anything… but at this point she wouldn’t be eating tonight if she didn’t ask for some. “I, uhh…” she paused, “don’t suppose you’d help me find some food…?”
