Technology Name: Blank Book
Technology Power Rank: E
Price: 20 Silver
Description: A blank book that can be used for notes, seal storage, or even carved out for a hidden storage spot. Admittedly, there are better books out there with fancy bonuses, but this book can store stuff just fine. It does have one unique point, a built-in belt that holds the book closed when not in use. It's dimensions are 7"x5"x1" with 300 pages. If the interior is carved out, then obviously, not as much can be written in the book. In exchange, it becomes a nifty hidden storage area with about enough space to fit a small scroll.
Weakness: Fire, water, and whatever else books are usually weak to.

As a medium specifically stated to be usable for seals, this has to follow the established standard for sealing material pricing. That's 50 copper per ink charge. (One charge equates to 3x3 inches or less.) Assuming your 300 pages is in book terms, with each side counting as a page, that's 600 charges, two per page. If you're counting each sheet of paper as a page however, that's 1,200 charges. That would make the required price of the book as written now either 3 gold (30,000 Copper), or 6 gold (60,000 Copper). Considering that the book would be capable, at minimum, of holding 300 intermediate level seals, that's not as extreme a price as it sounds.

Personally, I'd recommend drastically reducing the number of pages, or even changing the design to allow for custom page counts with a price per page (Following the standard pricing.), and making the "Storage book" as a separate item, since it's already a bit difficult to determine how many pages would still be allowed to be usable after carving it out anyways. Not to mention the price of a sealing book is a bit high to just carve out and turn into a mediocre storage space.

If it wasn't obvious you wanted to use the book for seals (Since that's right in the description.), I'd say to just come up with some reason the paper in the book won't work for sealing to keep your lower price, and still have a nice journal for background usage. But with it being usable for seals, it has to follow sealing rules.

Huuuuh. Completely forgot to check the prices for sealing paper gonk . Okay, in that case, I'll go with your custom page suggestion because I actually don't know what I want to use this book for sweatdrop .

Technology Name: Storage Book
Technology Power Rank: E
Price: 1 Silver
Description: A book with normal pages carved out to create a small storage space. A cross-belt built into the book holds the book closed. The book contains 30 untouched pages in front of and behind the carved out space. The carved out space itself is 5"x4"x.8". The entire book is 7"x5"x1". The book and all its pages are coated with a chakra repellent that hides the presence of any chakra in the book and mildly protects the book from chakra-based attacks. This same chakra repellent, though, prevents the pages from being used as sealing paper
Weakness: Natural fire, water, and whatever else books are usually weak to. Jutsu-wise, it can't withstand anything more than E-rank.

Technology Name: Empty Book
Technology Power Rank: E
Price: 1 Silver
Description: An empty frame of a hard-cover book--front cover, spine, and back cover--with an attached cross-belt that holds the book closed when not in use. The inside of the spine is inscribed with a seal that can (1) identify the owner's chakra and (2) binds to paper upon being fed a negligible amount of chakra from the owner. The seal allows the owner of the book to easily add pages to and cleanly remove pages from the book for a negligible amount of chakra. Regrettably, paper that has been bound to the spine seal forever lose their ability to be used as a sealing medium unless it has been specially primed, creating two distinct types of pages for the book. Any shape, size, and type of paper can become a page for the book. Although, the dimensions of the frame, 7"x5"x1", must be taken into account. At a thickness of 1", the book can hold ~300 pages at most. The pages added to the book should not be carved out to create a mediocre storage space because there is another book specifically for that (it's also difficult to determine the page:storage space ratio).
Weakness: Fire, water, and whatever else books are usually weak to.

I wasn't sure if I should make it an E-rank amount of chakra to add/remove pages to/from the book or if I could get away without a chakra cost.

Technology Name: Durable Empty Book
Technology Power Rank: D
Price: 1 Silver
Description: An empty book that's more durable thanks to better materials and nifty jutsus. It can take a little beating, but anything close to C-rank power and beyond is going to leave it battered.
Weakness: Anything close to C-rank and above. Fire does 1/2 rank more damage.

Technology Name: Simple Page
Technology Power Rank: E
Price: 1 Copper
Description: A simple piece of paper. It hasn't gone through the additional procedure needed for sealing, so it can't be used as a medium for sealing jutsu.
Weakness: Fire, water, and whatever else paper is usually weak to.

Technology Name: Sealing Page
Technology Power Rank: E
Price: 1 Silver
Description: A page that has been primed to be be able to be used as sealing paper while and after being added to an empty book. Each side of each page can hold two charges, but since normal ink will seep through one side of the page to another, only one side of each page can be used as a sealing surface.
Weakness: Fire, water, and whatever else books are usually weak to.

Technology Name: Thick Sealing Page
Technology Power Rank: E
Price: 2 Silver
Description: The thick sealing page isn't actually thicker than the regular sealing page. Rather, it's simply been further prepared so that ink doesn't seep from one side to another, allowing both sides to be used as a surface to draw seals. This doubles the charges per page from two to four.
Weakness: Fire, water, and whatever else books are usually weak to.

Checked back here to reference the holsters you made, discovered I'd forgotten all about the book thingy.

Storage Book: I'd say widen the dimensions of the book itself enough to make the storage slot a full 5x4x1, just because very few items are small enough to fit in a space smaller than that. Heck, I'd make the space 6x4x1 following your current design, since a lot of current items are about six inches long. (Haven't actually added the dimensions to any lists, but I have them calculated for my own use.) Honestly I'd drop the weakness section on this entirely and leave it to common sense.

Empty Book: You can probably remove everything on this after it says the max pages. Considering what it's doing, the seal in it is probably a Hiku seal targeted to paper, so you could specify that if you wanted. Though personally I'd just put in a normal book binder. Those don't cost chakra to use. Since a Hiku seal has a range of five feet (AKA way too much for this book) when charged at E rank, I'd say if you want the seal you should make it a one point cost. Still recommend a normal binder instead though.

Durable Empty Book: Honestly I don't see the point, and a book being resistant to jutsu at all doesn't make entirely much sense. Especially when you could quite easily etch a kyouka seal into your normal book.

Simple Page: Approved.

Sealing Page: Approved.

Thick Sealing Page: Seeing as it's described as not being thicker, I'd change the name to dense, or advanced, or something... Still, Approved.

As I said earlier, I wouldn't bother mentioning the paper at all in the empty book. Referring to "Regrettably, pages must be specially primed to be used as a sealing medium, creating two distinct types of pages for the book.". It doesn't really make all that much sense for the book itself.

Besides that detail,

Technology Name: Kunai Launcher MK I
Technology Power Rank: E
Price: 3 Silver
Description: An intricate assortment of nuts and bolts that is connected to an ammunition belt which allows for the launching of kunai. This small launcher is mainly made of iron and can fire up to 45 kunai per minute, meaning the RPM [revolution per minute] of the launcher rests at 95 RPM, one to revolution to place the kunai in the firing mechanism, one to go back and get the next. The firing mechanism itself is spring powered by a spring, making the range of the projectiles be no more than 15 feet. The launcher is six inches long, although, the launcher cannot be activated by hand due to its size so it costs 1 CP to activate, unless the user has another way to trigger the firing mechanism. It It has three firing mechanism which can be controlled at will:

  • Single Fire: More precise way of fire, only a single kunai can be fired by activation of the launcher. Because of the limitations of the launcher, it may only fire a single kunai every ten seconds. The firing potential is 6 kunai a minute.

  • Burst Fire: Not as precise as the single fire option but it has more fire power than the single fire. The user is able to fire bursts of kunai ranging from 2 - 3 for every pull of the trigger. Because of the limitations of the launcher it fires the burst in a span of five seconds, being able to send anywhere from 24 - 36 kunai a minute

  • Full Auto: As the name suggests, in this firing more the kunai knives go out so long as the trigger is pulled and there is ammo to be fed to the launcher. Because of the limitations of the launcher. only a single kunai may be fired every second, being able to fire 45 kunai per minute

There's a newly updated format for tech, which I'd like you to use instead of the old one.

I'm not sure on these, mainly because as they're written they're basically a gun. Machine gun even. The tech level involved is something I'm not sure we're quite up to yet, and if we were, it'd be much higher than E rank.

All that said, to make it more likely to be approved, you'll need to list the strength and speed of the projectiles in flight. And since i assume it's meant to be used with a puppet, perhaps something to specify that, so it doesn't become something you can just pick up and use by hand. Also, if it's going to use that much ammo, you need to specify that it needs storage space in the puppet housing. It's not just a tiny box infinitely spawning kunai, it has to get them from somewhere.

You might be able to lower the tech level some by making it as a crossbow launcher of sorts. Perhaps use a chakra string to pull the string. That would of course lower your firing speed significantly.

As I said, I'm not sure on this as written, so I'm going to ask Hikaro for input.

I'll update the format soon enough.

I wrote them like a gun to make it easier to describe, it was really tedious to think of another way to do it.

Strength and speed of the projectile was something I didn't really think about, thank you for pointing that out, being the first model I'm thinking D or C rank strength would be good enough, as for speed, I don't have the slightest idea. It doesn't need to be solely used for puppets, Alise will eventually have the second Model, if not this same one, strapped around her wrists to allow her to move freely and more dynamically (it would have ninja wire with it to let her move around easier) As for puppets, whenever I post the first one, you'll notice that they have a set amount of ammo, meaning they can only carry x amount in x part of the body; but if you feel like that should be added in I'll add it.

And to be fair, unless you know what you're doing with it, you'll never be able to use it because the triggering mechanism is too small to be used by hand and it was made that way specifically so that unless you grab it and know how it works you won't be able to use it. This of course being the first model would have to have some significant hindrance, so I think your crossbow idea can work.

I'll go ahead and say this should not be allowed. The only reason I allowed Hinote's crossbow was because it was very slow (as in hand throwing would be faster). Also realize that was in a more technologically advanced time, and would be more difficult to pass in the current world. A kunai gun which works as fast as you can pull the trigger? no way. a fully automatic machine gun? Not happening.

A firing mechanism might be doable, but a rapid fire mechanism cannot.
PostPosted: Thu Apr 24, 2014 3:34 pm

Hikaro_rin

Putting the rapid fire/full auto one out of the question, what about the single fire, which can only fire once every 10 seconds? That's much slower than a shinobi ever could fire; even once every five seconds would still be slower.

  • Why two slots? Multiple slots is for items too big to fit in one. The only item so far that I've got using multiple slots yet still stacking like that is arrows.

Storage space would either be the number of slots it holds, or, in cases like this, what single item it's designed to hold. In this case, "1 pellet".

Since this is really just the container to hold the pellet, you shouldn't really need range on it. (Not to mention throwing range is highly subjective.) Also the pellets are defined as having a range of five feet in diameter.

Again, since it's just a container, I'd personally recommend not making the stud itself disposable. Especially considering you're making them from silver. Just having the pellet easily removed and replaced should be fine.

Just a note, but the description should probably focus more on the item itself than on the character using it.

  • I just noticed you named it steel, but described it as silver, lol.

The "1 Slot" segment there isn't necessary since you have "10 Per Slot" as well.

Range isn't necessary at all if the item itself isn't doing anything. (Not to mention you could probably use these to hold other pellets later once they're made, like soldier pills, and range might make no sense with those.)

As an E rank, a weakness isn't really necessary, and the one you have is a bit confusing anyways. I'd just take it out, and add "Pellets not included" to the description.

Being made of silver, but also fairly tiny, if a bit intricate, I'd set price at either 25 or 50 copper each. Leaning towards 50, just because.
