((Hey, c'mon, where are you guys?...))
PostPosted: Sat Oct 17, 2009 8:47 am

((*Raises hand feebly* I'm not dead yet.))

Yazira leaned back and patted Shoba, who was lying comfortably in a leather brace attached to the saddle. It cupped his body perfectly and would keep him in one place no matter where or how fast the horse went.
"Well, if we're tarvleing slowly for a bit I'll let Shoba run beside us." She undid several straps and stopped to let the dog jump down.
He was much happier after this and bounded beside them on the side of the road, sometimes lagging behind, sometimes running ahead.
Yazira smiled as she watched him.
"So do you know the details of the fiend we are supposed to fight?" She knew roughly what type it was but wanted to know if anyone else knew more than that.

((School...*mumbles out and dies.*))

Malkin moved his horse away when Yazira came around. Malkin didn't hate her, he just didn't like her. She was everything he was once. Stupid and foolhardy, ready to jump in an save people at a moment's notice. Watching her set the dog down, Malkin sighed, and shrunk closer into his hooded coat. It was nice and warm. And safe. Hearing her question, he leaned in a bit. Turtle fiends don't die easy. And his sword was new to him. Any advice on how to kill it would be useful.

"Well, all I know is it's some kind of tortoise fiend. In my experience that probably means something huge with fangs or a serrated beak, spikes or plates, or both, vicious claws, and maybe some kind of weird ability, like spitting water or poison or something. Most missions we get come in as a request from some village or homestead or something. So that's where we're headed. Once we find whoever sent the request they'll probably have more detailed information. For now we can just relax. No sense worrying about it till we get there. Especially since we've got no idea what we're dealing with yet." Matt said as he continued riding his horse toward the first province, north-north-east.

((If nobody has a problem with it how about we finish up our conversations and we can fast forward to our respective arrivals. Probably somewhere between a few days to a week later.))

((If this seems kind weird, I blame the 16th century poetry I was reading prior to this. I most likely will not be writing like this alot...this will probably be the only time.))

A figure stood in the middle of the complex. Clothed in a brown hooded cape and dress, one could see the swell of hips even from the back of the figure. If one was standing infront of the girl, one could see she was young, though definately out of childhood. The girl's fair features of a button nose, rosebud shaped lips of the same color, and rosy cheeks were marred by three scars along the right. Grey eyes with hues of blue and green were fixed upon a round building in the middle of the complex.

The girl had in her hands a dagger, made of silver. The wooden handle was like fine silk in her hands, so used to handling the rough tools of poor farmer's wives. A sheath of the same wood was still enclosed around it, for she was too scarred of her own lack of prowess to unleash the deadly blade.

A gentle breeze brushed the maiden's bare skin, causing a shiver to run through. A delicate hand attached to barest of arms was brought up to rosehip lips, as light cough found its way out. The youth's tongue danced across her skin, as orbs of grey flickered about. No visage was in sight to guide her way. Teeth grazed rosy flesh, as she hopped from foot to foot.

"Excuse me, Miss Heart." Said a Guard in his full regalia. He stopped before the young woman and snapped to attention, offering a salute. "I was told to inform you that you have been temporarily assigned to Team 4 and are to join them immediately. They have already set out, but only just. If you hurry, you can get yourself a horse and catch up to them shortly. They are headed to the East North East province. The stables are right next to the Southern Gate. You should go there now." The guard saluted again and then marched away.

((btw, Rai, since you are now assigned to team 4 you should make your posts in indigo for as long as you are part of that team. Each team has a corresponding color. Once your character returns to the Corps you can resume posting in plain black.))

((Thanks, SN. Seriously, for letting me join and all that. Hope we have fun. BTW, I play D&D too. Gotta love those d4s.))

The girl, a Miss Aretha Heart, jumped slightly in surprise, and turned quickly to face whoever had addressed her. Her head dipped low and to the right, cause her cheek to be hidden by hood and hair and shoulder.

"Thank you!" she called out to the soldier as he marched away.

The girl followed her nose to the stables. She entered cautiously. Aretha never had much experience with horses, even though she grew up on a farm. Horses were expensive, and few in her village managed to actually even own one. Here, there her dozens, maybe hundreds!

Aretha approached the nearest horse softly. The horse of the deepest chestnut color was in its stall, all saddled like it was awaiting her arrival. She knew enough to open the door, and grab the reins, gently leading the horse outside like she would oxen. While holding the reins, she placed her right foot in the stirrup, and lifted herself off the ground.

Surprising, the horse hadn't bolted. Aretha shifted in the saddle, trying to get comfortable. Gently, she nudged it with her heels like she had seen others who rode horses do. The horse started to walk forward.

Aretha and Chestnut, the horse she was riding, made their way through the complex, and out into the city. She followed signs to the East Northeast Gate, and from there, continued to ride along the road, hoping they weren't travelling off the road or too fast. She didn't feel comfortable going much fast than a walk, though a few time she suffered the horrible feeling of trotting.

The lone figure trotted his horse towards the Guardian Citadel, a lop-sided grin on his youthful features. Mathias Valenti heaved a sigh of relief as he pulled his horse to a stop before the gates, and looked up at the impressive height of the structure. Still smiling, he swung down from the horse and settled his sword on his hip before removing the shield and strapped it to his back. He led the horse towards the stables and handed the faithful animal into the care of the grooms. Mathias looked around him then, and sighed before heading toward a side door to enter the facility. His leave that was imposed upon him by his father, Geofram, was finally ended, and he would be assigned to his team quite soon. Mathias again smiled as he thought of the road ahead. At last he would be able to prove his worth and make his father proud of him...

"Maybe your Kyto is something that Isaac shouldn't experience, at least not on a mission." William said to Kiro. "No worries Isaac, just once the fighting gets heavy don't look Kiro in the eyes. Afterwards you should be fine."
William twisted and reached up to adjust the lay of his broadsword, which never sat well in a saddle. While twisted about he could see a figure on horseback closing on him and his partners.
"Huh? I wonder what this is about?" He thought out loud as the figure came close enough for him to tell that it was a young woman.

A guard of the Corps., the same one that had spoken to Aretha, approached Mathias. He performed the same snap to attention and salute as he had for her.
"Mr. Valenti. I was told you were returning. I was given orders to inform you that you have been re-assigned to Team 1. They have already mobilized and you are to remount and catch up to them asap. They are headed into the West South West province. If you hurry you'll be able to catch them shortly." The guard offered another salute and them marched away.

((Raolain, you may post in Red now, as it is Team 1's designated color.))

Aretha noticed a group of men ahead, also on horseback. "Maybe that's them?" she thought, turning her face to the right, and flipping her hair so it would cover her right cheek. She walked the horse up to them, a faint blush on her cheek as she noticed one was looking at her.

"H-hi. Um...are you guys...ah...um...part of the...ahhh...Calivert Corp?" she asked, not looking any of them in the eyes. Aretha's teeth bit her lower lip, and her hands tighten on the reins. The horse flicked its head in discomfort, and the flush on her cheeks paled quickly, eyes locking onto the horse.

Yahzira nodded, but said nothing more. She hated not knowing what she was up against. I should remind the corps heads to hire some trained scouts. Ones who could tell us a little more at least.

((Ima fast forward if no one minds. If ye do, well don't count this next bit.))

"I should also remind them to keep fresh mounts in every town." She grumbled as she loosened her horse's saddle. They had been riding for days and though they had not ridden far that morning thier horses were tired.
Thier target village at last was in sight however and she decided to walk her horse the rest of the way. Shoba sat in his harness, head tucked tightly at his side. He too had walked most of the way.
"The horses might have been useful in this battle, we could have used thier strength."
In the distance Yahzira spotted fallen trees and fields that had been raked it seemed by giant claws. A faint and alien smell wafted to them on the breeze. It made her horse lay his ears back and Shoba began to growl as he looked up.
Yahzira moved to Matt's side, raised a hand and pointed it towards the destruction. "Be on your guard. I don't think it's far off."

"Aww, where's the fun in not experiencing it?" Kiro said sarcastically, smirking.

"Hmm?" Kiro turned as William mentioned an approaching figure. He then turned his body more as she approached and once she had reached them, he studied her. Who is this girl? I don't recognize her at all. Kiro questioned himself. Kiro road up close to Issac's horse. "Is she with you? Dating her? Are you married or something? I've never seen her." Kiro asked Issac teasingly, his questions escalating in embarrassment for Issac every second.

Kiro wasn't one to usually be good with relationships and women so he most of the time played things off as a joke towards other people and try not to get involved himself since he often felt uncomfortable around beautiful women since he didn't know much how to act towards them due to the way he was raised.

(( I don't think anything is going on with Team 2 so they are free to skip ahead. ))

Emma chuckled again, "See, he speaks. Thank you Gene. Unless it's giant, your bows aren't going to cut it. Tia? How much experience do you have?" The woman asked as she giggled as she started to bounce up and down on Mendoza. It was hard riding a horse when you really wanted to run.

Isaac smirked, though still nervous with the horse. "Hey, he said on a mission. Don't forget, I still want to fight you." Isaac said. "Okay, don't look Kiro in the- What!?" Isaac screamed in his head. "What girl? What are you talking about!? Married? How old do you think I am!?" Isaac shouted back at him before scrambling to hug the neck of his horse. The shouting nearly made him lose his balance.

"Yes! Yes we're with the corps..." Isaac said, he considered William the leader of their little group, so he would let him handle it.
