There was a knock on Rhea's and Adonai's door, standing outside the door. The holidays had kept her longer than she had wanted from doing her delivery. Of course when she announced she was going for another Christmas run, well her family gave her what was supposed to go to Cindy and her mother had gave her something extra.
Rhea shoudl like it... Lin mused thoughtfully.

It was Adonai who opened the door, wearing his usual robes but without the cloak. It was beyond warm enough not to need it - Shael had already begun telling him to dress lighter so that he wouldn't overheat. The Spring was a warm one, and promised a hot Summer to come.
"Lin," he grinned, holding the door wide. "Welcome back. What brings you here?"

"It's a bit after Christmas back home," Lin explained, "So I'm delivering snowflake cookies, even though it's not Winter anymore. I have some things for Cindy as well from everyone back home, and I have something for Rhea from Mom. She thought Rhea might like to raise it... err.. her. She said it might help keep Rhea busy."
Or out of trouble, Fluffy Cats like Wish were useful as they were intelligent and the angelic variety tended to be good guardians.

Adonai smiled warmly. "Well, that's very thoughtful of both of you," he said happily. "Thank you very much. Rhea is out back with Cindy at the moment, they're practicing channeling her magic using her staff, and Shael is with them, watching them. Come on, we can go see them together."
He stepped outside and closed the door behind himself, then offered his arm to Lin as if he were going to escort her. "Shall we?" he grinned with a wink.

Lin grinned back taking Adonai's arm, though it was a bit strange since well... Lin was quite short as it was and Adonai as she had noted once was unusally tall even for an elf.
"Well last year.. well last year Gaia time it was candy canes," Lin told Adonai, "And it was actually in winter, which it was a good thing I brought Wish along because I would have been buried otherwise."

"That was a long time ago," Adonai mused as they headed around the house. "Before Adanedhel was born, as I recall." He chuckled softly. "And now here he is, about to begin a family of his own. How time flies ... and yet it was only one year ago for you, you say? That is interesting ..."
Adanedhel was already twenty two years old, nearly twenty three ... that made for quite the time difference between the worlds, indeed.

"It was...." Lin agreed thinking it over, "Ahren was just a baby, I know because he was sleeping on Wish when I finished. You know... I think that's one of the things I liked about growing up between both worlds. I didn't have the problem of feeling awkward of growing up physically older than my friends, because with the time difference they kind of grew up with me. Even though technically they're all older than me."
That had been a problem for Triton she knew, Were-ah was just a teenager.. barely. To most people who didn't know the two it was plain odd for a grown man to take interest in a child (or a bit creepy for that matter), but Were-ah was older than Triton.

Adonai laughed. "I hadn't thought of that, actually," he grinned down at Lin. "Of course ... by our passage of time, you did grow just like we do. So no, it hadn't occurred to me to think that strange with the time difference."
They arrived finally at the back of the house, where Cindy and Rhea were busy with a lesson. Rhea was sitting in the grass, her staff in her lap, her eyes closed - a picture of meditation. Nearby, Shael sat on a wooden swing that hung from a tree, rocking slowly back and forth and watching the lesson intently.

It was practicing aura sensing, something that was somewhat difficult Cindy had learnt when you lived surrounded by elves. Everyone was giving off a magic aura, the trick was trying to pick apart which one belonged to which. Now that they had gotten sheilding in a good place (though she knew there would be always be work to make it natural to the user) they could now focus on other things.
Like aura sensing, and being away from the Ranch helped, there were only Rhea's close relatives that lived here. So to sense them out wtihout taking anything from them, just sense.. to know they were there. She murmured the instructions softly to not break Rhea's focus.

Sensing other peoples' magic had always been something that she could do, though she had not realized it for a long time, and had not been able to make sense out of what she had been feeling. But now, with Cindy's help, she was able to sort out what magics she was sensing around her, and thus able to guess, more or less, who it was who was near.
Though Shael had been outside with them only a short while, she had sensed her presence immediately. Now, nearly an hour later, she was sensing more magic approaching ... but it was a little confusing.
"It feels like Papa," she murmured to Cindy, her brow furrowing in confusion, "but for some reason ... I feel ... butterflies."
Not in the sense that she felt nervous, for that meaning did not exist in their world, but she kept seeing butterflies fluttering in her mind, or rather, fluttering in the shadow of a person ... but she didn't know anyone with butterfly magic.

Cindy blinked for a moment and realized that indeed there were other people there. She looked over her shoulder to see indeed the person who was feeling like butterflies standing there with her bag over her shoulder.
"They haven't mobbed you yet?" Cindy asked amused, knowing it had been a while since Lin had been there in this season.
"Give me another hour or so, and then ask me that," came the dry reply, Lin resisted to sigh at that, "I still haven't managed to get them to leave me alone."
Cindy laughed at that and gently placed a hand on Rhea's shoulders, "I think we're done for the day, you can open your eyes and see who was the other person you sensed."

Adonai chuckled at Lin's response to her sister. "Well, the butterflies won't be around for another few weeks at least," he assured her, "so no need to panic quite yet."
Rhea opened her eyes and blinked at Cindy. So there had been another person! She was wondering, since she hadn't sensed that magic before. She looked over to see Lin standing with her father, and she waved cheerfully.
"Hi, Lin!" she called out, climbing to her feet. "Look what Aragost brought me!"
She held her staff in her arms, already more easily than she had held it when she had first received it. Ulani mostly worked with her in the mornings before the sun was even up, so that it wouldn't be too warm for her, and also so that it wouldn't run into her lessons with Cindy and her mother, and so that she would still have her evenings free.

Unlike Cindy, Lin was more familiar with the metal. She had seen it of course during her stays at the palace, knew it on site from Yukito staff and even had once noted that sometimes her mother wore a small butterfly pin made of the stuff (she bet Aranhil made that).
"Wow... I wonder how he got a hold of that," Lin murmured.
Actually it wouldn't surprise her... Aragost had to have sources after all these centuries. Though for all she knew he made it himself. Which reminded her... she had to still aplogize to Aragost as well.
That was not going to be fun."What is something that Aragost would have to be asked.. if he's willing to say," Cindy replied rising from her seat, "Good to see you again, I take it father is here?" "Err.. no, it's after Christmas which means," Lin patted her bag, "Gifts.. and cookies, which are also gifts."

"Gifts?" Rhea asked, dropping her staff and hurrying over to Lin. "What kind of gifts?"
She wanted to root through Lin's bag, but she knew that that would be rude, so she stayed a few paces away and clasped her hands to battle the temptation.
Shael laughed and rose from her swing. "Rhea, have patience," she smiled. "The gifts might not even be for you, anyways."
Rhea pouted. "But my birthday is next week!"

Lin giggled at that, she knew that feeling well.
"We just celebrated Christmas a few days ago back home, so I have gifts for Cindy, cookies for everyone... and...." she trailed off looking a bit impish.
It looks like the timing was perfect.
"Mom did send one thing along to you, but you have to take very good care of it."
Well it wasn't an it, it was a her, for some reason her mother preferred female cats.
