Kel quietly continued inspecting the sword his daughter had apparently found, first tracing his eye down the center of the blade, through the fuller, and down to the hilt. Truesilver blade... The fuller tapers with the width of the blade. What is this gem? Looks like materite."
"That's what I thought too, " Seth interrupted, pointing to the gemstone.
Kel gave his daughter a brief look then poked the stone with his index finger, popping it out of the socket it had rested in, and leaving a round hole in the blade. "I suppose it doesn't matter. This one is deteriorated. It's just a lusterless gem now." He said as he held the solitary jewel in the light. It was a very dull blue green with no shine. After placing the gem then the sword on the tabletop, Kel re-pocketed his magnifier and stood up. "Well, I'll give it another look later. It was likely just a relic from a historic paladin.", Kel suggested as he started walking toward the front gate, "I think they left. You should be clear to fly."
Remembering immediately that she was supposed to be going out for the day, Seth nodded, "R-Right. Bye dad!" With a bit of hurry, she collected her bag and tool box then jogged over to the gate and exited the workshop, giving a very brief glance around before moving around the side of the house and springing into the air.

Luckily Kel didn't have to wait very long for that supply delivery. After signing for two small crates of adamantite bars and a large vial of mercury, Kel set out to work smelting the adamantite. The remainder of his morning became fairly sedate. The long wait for the furnace to reach the right temperature, then the wait to melt down the adamantite. During the wait, Kel managed to finish up his previously disrupted training regiment outside. His meditative exercises and movements only lasted the better part of an hour before he was ready to return to his next commission. The early afternoon was a portion of pouring and forging the fresh metal into shape. From the anvil closest to the forge where Kel worked, a slightly larger sketch of the schematic the prince provided hung from a chalkboard. The constant and rhythmic tinkling of hammer against metal rang out from the open doors of the workshop.

Maryl slowly opened the door to the workshop area and stood in the doorway. She had remembered the ground rules set for entering the area as they were still posted on the door, since she didn't have suitable footwear, or any footwear at all for that matter she decided staying at the door was safer. Seeking to be heard over the hammering, Maryl took a deep breath before calling out, "DAD!" All that came afterward was a brief wheeze as she had to recover her breath.

Hearing a shrill but familiar scream over the ringing noise of his forging, Kel tilted his head back and looked toward the door. "Ma-Maryl? What are you still doing here?" Kel asked sort of surprised though muffled by his visor. He set his hammer down and let go of the slab of metal he was working on leaving them at the anvil before he approached the door. After lifting his visor he continued, "I thought you were supposed to be at the library."

Holding up one hand to signify that she was okay, Maryl patted her chest and nodded. "Well, no. I got a message earlier. The castle library is going to be closed for a few days during the coronation. I don't think it's going to be open to the public like the meeting was." Shaking her head, Maryl returned to what she had originally came to the forge for. "Dad, there's a fire in town," She said with surprising calm, "It's an inn in the marketplace. It's really going up."

"Again?" was the first thing out of Kel's mouth. He shook his head, dismissing the comment, "Never mind. If you really want the story, ask your sister." He shrugged and took a turn to return to his workpiece. "Well just don't go running down there. Hopefully someone established a fire department by now. Any other element can extinguish flames but it seems like none of them actually try to when it's a good time to do it."

Maryl sighed, a bit disappointed at being forbidden to do something about it. "Oh, okay dad.", she replied with some understanding about his concern. As she left the doorway and entered the hall, she immediately began to wonder about what this other fire event was since he did mention Seth having some involvement in it. Quietly, she paced back up the stairs and down the second floor hall to her room, wondering what Seth would have to say on the subject.

While dealing with a fit of coughing, Seth dropped in from the sky, landing near the entrance to the forge. She took a few deep breaths to clear her lungs before opening the gate and entering the outside area of the workshop. Since the inside work area was open, Seth paced over to the shelves nearest the door and placed her toolbox and travel bag on a low shelf.
"That cough didn't sound good", Kel voiced to Seth as he briefly interrupted his forging, bringing the rhythmic tinking noise to a halt. he set down his hammer and released the partially formed sword he was holding onto letting it rest on the anvil.
Turning to face her father from across the large work table, Seth replied,"It's fine, there was a lot of smoke in the air today. Someone burned down the Black Ghost Inn. There's nothing but rubble and ash there now."
Scratching his head, Kel sighed. Maryl wasn't kidding about that fire. It wasn't that Kel doubted her clairvoyance but that so little was actually done to save the place in the end. "You'd think someone would organize a fire department in this town." He picked up his hammer again and readied it before saying one more thing, "I'll start dinner as soon as I'm finished with this. It won't be long."
"Okay, dad," Seth replied before stepping into the doorway to the house interior. She removed her workboots and carried them into the hall, leaving them at the landing by the front door. Having done that, Seth made a few paces back to the couch and dropped down on it, laying across the cushions and resting one arm over her forehead.

Since Maryl heard movement from below, she quietly left her room and sneaked down stairs to find out what was going on. Though previously oblivious, as soon as she reached the bottom of the staircase, she noticed familiar streams of dark hair on the corner of the couch. It had to be her sister. Jogging over to the front of the couch, Maryl nudged Seth gently on the shoulder, "Sis, how was the camp today?", she asked concernedly.

A bit surprised at the sudden sound of Maryl's voice, Seth stirred a bit before sitting up. "Hey, you're home early. The Refuge is doing well, Mr. Lane said that repairs are going well in Terra Tanta, now that they've cleared out the flood wreckage. Thanks to some of the donations they received they might even turn the refuge into a full fledged town too." Seth nodded cheerfully. Though due to being so short she didn't take up very much of the couch anyway, Seth shifted to a more natural seated position and offered the cushion next to her for Maryl to sit on instead of having to stand at the end of the couch like that.

"That's good. It hasn't been very long since Terra Tanta was destroyed, but hopefully life can return somewhat to normal for them." Since it was offered, Maryl hopped up on the couch to sit next to her sister. "By the way," She started to ask, looking down at her toes bashfully, "When I told dad there was an inn on fire today, he said 'again' in surprise, then told me you knew something about a previous inn fire."

A bit annoyed at the memory rather than the question, Seth took a deep breath. "Me? He was there. Apparently that giant from the earth nation tried to burn down the Mermaid's Tavern with a hot rock. Thanks to dad and a few fire elementalists that didn't happen. Still, the place was ultimately abandoned since its owner died anyway." Seth shook her head and shrugged, "I guess it wasn't anything big, it's just that dad seems to hate talking about himself."

"Hmm..." Maryl nodded somewhat able to understand, but not very sure. Rather than pursue that subject more, Maryl shook her head, "Well, we're about to have a much more compassionate and understanding king. Maybe things are finally looking up." Thinking of that, she remembered something incredibly important. She lowered her head rather embarassed to have forgotten about this earlier and not told anybody. "We have to warn the king about Ardere Isola. I don't know when it's going to happen, but They will definitely attack it."

Seth scratched her head for a moment in confusion as she tried to recall a recent political map. "Hmm... Well it does seem like the easiest target to get to from anywhere in the Fire nation. ...unless we're talking about a different 'they'." Seth suggested, somewhat confused by Maryl's vagueness. Thinking about it for a moment, it was difficult to wonder why Fire wouldn't just take Omgitt Jord. The area was already war torn, it was easy for them to get to from previously conquered territories, and likely difficult for Water to hold onto. "Either way, this would mean one of us would have to go to the crowning ceremony, if we're allowed."
Poking in from around the doorway leading to the Kitchen, Kel called over to his children whom he could clearly hear chatting in the living room. "Kids, Dinner," he stated bluntly before disappearing back into the hall.
Sliding off the couch, Seth quietly and limply followed toward the kitchen, mostly silenced by fatigue and hunger taking over.

"Well, the images are still hazy, but i'm sure it's fire." Maryl nodded somewhat more confidently. She didn't mention seeing the giant at that location or his new war band, which might have been a very important detail. As much as she wanted to follow up on Seth's last statement, her stomach rumbled at the mention of food. She felt a bit embarrassed at the obvious sound but wasn't about to resist the lure of a hot meal. Her sister didn't seem to notice anyway. After sliding off the couch, Maryl followed after Seth toward the kitchen.
