Amaya Vaughan

PostPosted: Thu Jul 20, 2006 8:23 pm

Amaya screamed inside her head, her long tail swinging into the table by her bed on reflex. The lamp on it wobbled before falling over and rolling to the carpetted floor. She backed up even farther, eyes wide and every inch of her body shaking.

They were going to take her away! They were going to kill her! They were going to perform some deranged experiment on her!

Sabin gave an undisguised, belabored sigh. "Look, Miss Vaughn. We can do this the easy way... or the hard way. You can join me in the jeep like a good girl, or I can knock you out and haul you off. Thre is nothing to be afraid of." He spoke the encouraging words like he had read them off a script.

The girl continued to shake, scooting back until her bare legs and tail touched the wall. She wanted to hiss at him again, but couldn't seem to force herself to do it. Her mouth opened, as if she was going to say something... but nothing passed her scaley snout. She couldn't form anything she wanted to say to him even though her mind was screaming.

Go away! Leave me alone! You've done enough!

Ambrose didn't know what to do. He couldn't just leave, abandon Amaya, but he was scared of crossing the staff (as much as he didn't want to admit it). It couldn't be as bad as she feared, right? Maybe he could calm her down, get her to go with him willligly... but what if she was right? He'd hate himself forever for escorting her off to her demise.

"What are you going to do with her?" Ambrose spoke up in a scared whisper.

Sabin stared the wolfman down, "I told you already that this was none of your concern. Now beat it or I'm just going to make this easier for all of us and knock the both of you out."

Amaya started to hyperventalate, slowly her senses coming back to her. "Ambrose..." She was scared. She didn't want to move. She didn't want to get knocked out. In a deseperate attempt, she shut her eyes tight.

"If you just close your eyes, then the monsters won't get you... They'll think you're asleep."

Oh god... Mom... Dad... She gripped the carpet underneath her, unable to cry.

"Oh for chrissakes. " He exasperated. "Don't say I didn't warn you."

He mumbled under his breath. "Why do I always get to s**t jobs" Before speaking in a louder, clearer voice, "Subjects Vaughan, Maurlias, Sleep!"

Sabin waited as they fell unconscious and proceeded to drag the pair of them to the jeep, and rumbled off towards the labs.

**

Amaya woke who knew how many hours later, strapped to a chair in a sterile labroom. The white-haired doctor, the only other individual in the room, was bustling nearby, glancing at some x-rays that were affixed to a light box on the wall.

The green iguana's eyes twitched before finally opening halfway. Slowly her head rose, grogily looking around the room. The smell of chemicals and general cleanliness was nauseating.

Wha...? Where...? She tried to move her arms, but looked down to find them strapped down. Yellow eyes snapped open as she tried to move her feet, her tail... all were strapped.

No... NO! Amaya's chest rose and fell as she breathed heavily and quickly, struggling under the restraints. NO! NO! NO! AHHHHHH! The nightmare she held of being experimented on was finally coming true?

The doctor turned as Amaya began to lash about against her restraints, grabbed one of the x-ray papers and closed the distance to where she was held.

"Oh now don't go through all of this again. I haven't even done anything for God's sake. Has my reputation proceeded me that much?" He gave a private smile, finding the concept more flattering than he ought to.

"Now... Amaya Vaughan, yes? This will go much more smoothly if you cooperate. I've already had to put you out once. I have some questions I need to ask you."

The girl's struggling stopped gradually as the strange doctor walked towards her. She shook, cowering under his gaze.

Questions? What questions? Though she had yet to say anything vocally to him.

Sabin eyed her warily as she settled down and rolled his shoulders. "Very well... as I'm sure you've figured out, your changes have reached their completion... and so therefore we are acessing the ... measure of success." He flashed her a wide, creepily enthusiastic grin.

"So! Where to begin." He clapped his hands together. "We waited the two weeks to allow the post-transition pain to subside. So now... and be honest, how do you feel." He leaned forward.

Amaya watched him with her eyes as he moved about, pulling away when he leaned foreward.

... What? They strapped her in a chair and went through all of this to ask how she was feeling?! There were a number of things she could tell him. Scared shitless, depressed, inhuman, but she chose to narrow his question down more. "Physically or mentally?" Her distinctly young and feminine voice asked quietly.

"Either." Sabin answered with raised eyebrow and a poised pen.

"And glad that you decided to speak up, if I didn't know better I would have assumed you might have been robbed of your voice."

The lizard frowned and pulled a little more on her restraints, trying to choose what she said wisely. Afterall, as far as she knew this man was her only ticket out of this hellhole and back to her duplex.

"Physically; awkward. Mentally; depressed." Eh, why ******** around the bush?

"Awkward..." Sabin mused. "But no additional physical discomfort? That is good. And you feel coherent mentally. Excellent."

He regarded her again. "Your x-rays show bone stability, and your blood tests.." He nodded towards a stack of computer sheets. "Show that the DNA stabilization seems to be going well now that you are complete."

He smiled, looking proud and looked back to her, looking with fascination over her scaly skin and her lizard-like muzzle. "And it is, I must say, intriguing and amazing to see the final product. I have been looking forward to this day for some time now!" Sabin chatted in undisguised awe.
