Miu couldn’t sleep the entire trip to Shimagakure. Her heart was pounding too hard to calm down long enough to fall asleep anyway. When the island was slowly coming into view, she moved so she could see it clearly. It looked beautiful from the sea. She couldn’t wait to finally step on the shores so she can really feel safe. At this point she was still considering the possibility of her father following her and doing the same thing that he’d done to her mother. At least back then she was too young to remember anything about the woman or the man that gave her life. She moved her light brown hair in front of her left shoulder, letting her fingers run through it as a wrinkle formed in between her eye brows, giving her a look of worry and troubles. When the boat had docked and she was able to step off the boat, she took in a deep breath. She’d be safe here. Her grandmother wouldn’t have to be worried about her any longer. Miu’s father could never reach her now. It was when the Yamanaka looked around and spotted a younger, blonde boy. His eyes were the same color as her own. The color his hair happened to be was yet again the same color her natural hair color was before she decided to dye it. He was undeniably a member of the Yamanaka clan, just as she was.

Eiji looked around once more as he searched for any sign of someone who would direct him through the village. As he did so, his eyes caught the sight of a girl with brown hair who had eyes as beautiful as his. Eiji smiled at her. "Yo," he greeted her not knowing what else could be said between a pair of strangers... oh right, introductions. "I'm Yamanaka Eiji, I've just arrived here from the mainland," he said to the girl who had just stepped off the boat. "Do you happen to know your way around here?" he asked, hoping that she might have just been someone who lived there in the small island and had just come back from a vacation or something along those lines. He got up from the rock and approached the girl to get a better view of her. She was very pretty... and a little taller than him, so he just guessed that she might be older. Yet, he was unable to make any connection of her being from the same clan as him. He moved one of his bangs out of the way of his eyes as he awaited for the girl's response.

When she boy approached her and declared his name, she smiled to him, her pearl teeth shining even though the sky was quickly becoming dark. “Hello, my name is Yamanaka, Miu. It’s nice to meet you Eiji. No, I don’t know my way around here, I’ve only just arrived from the mainland as well.” Miu looked towards the village, wondering when she would be meeting the one boy she was told of by her grandmother. This wasn’t the boy, he just arrived as well, not to mention he was much too young to match the description her grandmother gave her. Miu returned her shining blue eyes towards the younger boy, smile still on her lips. “Do you happen to have any plans on where to stay here?” she questioned. She may not know the boy but it would be wrong if a younger child was left homeless in a new home. It would be more responsible to make sure that the boy had plans on where to stay. As far as Miu knew she was to stay with the one named Kane and his younger sister. She wasn’t aware of her name though, seeing as how the older Yamanaka was the main priority of her grandmother at the time of explanation.

"Oh uhm.. nice to meet you Yamanaka-san," he said shocked that he would meet someone with the same last name. The sudden question of where he was staying took him by surprise since, truthfully, he hadn't made any arrangements with Kane since he wanted to surprise him. "Well, uh... my cousin, Yamanaka Kane, lives in this island and I was planning to surprise him... I have yet to make arrangements with him about whether or not I can stay at his home, but I am pretty sure he won't leave his dear cousin out in the streets. But if he has no room, then I'm sure I'll be able to manage," he explained. As he said this, Eiji was eying the girl, finally coming to the conclusion that the good looks and the same surname must have meant that they were from the same plan. The fact that they both came from the mainland yet they had never met being from the same clan struck Eiji as odd. "So Yamanaka... how come I've never seen you around the mainland before? I mean, I know almost every Yamanaka since my mom is the younger sister of the head of the family," he decided to ask. And what was with the light brown hair? He guessed that it must have been the genes of a Yamanaka mixed with someone who had the dominant gene for brown hair.

(If you want, just makes it easier to tell they're talking)
Miu couldn’t help but giggle as the younger Yamanaka held a strange tone in his voice when she told him her last name. He must not have expected it due to her hair color. Other than that one particular trait of hers, she would look like just a normal Yamanaka female. It was when he continued on about Kane, the one she was sent to, when it was her turn to hold a surprised look on her face. So this young boy was his cousin? How odd and strangely perfect for her. If she stayed with Eiji, the two would be able to find where it was that they would be staying, seeing as how they would be needing to see the same man to figure it out. “Oh, please, call me Miu. I’m really tired of being called Yamanaka.” It was true, at the Lady’s Academy back on the mainland the teachers and students were only allowed to call each other by their last names. It really took a toll on the girl’s thoughts on last names. Not to mention that if she were called Yamanaka, it would only be another way for people to group her together with the people who all seemed to look the same. Blonde hair, blue eyes, good looks. No sort of variation at all! “Oh, um, well, I never really stayed with any of the Yamanaka families. I lived with my grandmother, and she lived with one of her daughters. I was only with the main Yamanaka family for a year or two before we moved. So I never really got to know anyone at the main house, and I’m guessing it was long before you were born that I left the main house and family grounds.”

It was weird for Eiji to call someone else by his own last name, too, so he was glad that they were getting acquainted quite quickly. So that explained it; she wasn't brought up with the main branch of the Yamanaka back in the mainland. Eiji's curiosity had no bounds and many questions popped into his mind. Why was she tired of being called Yamanaka? Why was she taken away from the main branch at such a young age? Why is her hair brown instead of the usual blonde? How old was she? He thought that if they were both to live in this island and they were somehow connected, he would, in due time, have his questions about this girl answered. To not seem so nosy and to be polite to the girl, Eiji refrained from bombarding her with his many questions, but instead he would little by little ask her as they got to know each other better. "So, uhm.. Miu-san, you asked where I would be staying earlier, so I must ask the same question, where are you going to stay? I'm pretty sure Kane would take you in if you don't have somewhere else to stay, too; since we're from the same clan and all," Eiji said.

Miu wasn’t used to being with another young person other than her cousin, but she wasn’t exactly young. She’d just turned twenty-one before Miu left. But still, she was the only person even close to her age that she was used to. She could tell that Eiji was a curious one when he asked her in return, where she was staying. Miu didn’t mind. It was nice to see that he was curious. She was curious of him herself, to see what being in the normal Yamanaka society was like. “Actually, I was sent here to see Kane. But, I’ve never met him before, and I don’t believe he knows I’ve come. It was sort of a spur of the moment thing, my leaving home and all. So to answer your question, I’m not sure where I am to stay. I was thinking of asking Kane when I met him, but I found you instead.” Miu laughed once more, her voice sounding like a gentle chime as she did so. The whole boat ride here she was quiet, waiting. It felt good to laugh again. She’d been so worried as of late that she found herself stuck in her books rather than socializing like she usually had. Miu looked around, seeing if there was somewhere to sit down, but, not finding anything close she decided to move out of the way of the docks and sit down in the sand. As for whether Eiji would join her on the ground was his own choice, but she was getting to like his company in the few moments they’d been talking.

"Hahaha, so we're in the same situation, we could say... although my escape from the mainland was a more planned out event, hahaha, but we were both looking for the same person and instead we found someone else but it wasn't a totally useless finding since we've found out that we are better acquainted than we would have expected... which brings me to think that everything happens for a reason and our meeting here means that we were meant to meet, maybe in order to find Kane and explore this village...hahaha... or maybe we should just wait so we don't get in trouble since I'm sure our arrival at least has been taking notice of... hahaha... " said Eiji, laughing slightly and in a stream of consciousness style, to the female Yamanaka. As he rearranged his thoughts, Miu had already moved and sat down on the sand. Seeing as Eiji preferred company to solitud, he joined her by sitting next to her, crossed-legs, on the sand. He started to play with it before thinking of one of the not-so-personal questions he had formulated while speaking to this young girl. "I'm here to join the ninja academy and follow on Kane's footsteps. What brings you here?" he asked first stating his purpose in the village to make her feel more comfortable. It wasn't unusual for Eiji to talk so much with a stranger due to his love for finding out stuff whether it be gossip or current world affairs that he learned about. 'Any type of knowledge will be useful some day' was something that his parents, being good at the information business, always told him.

(Lol, nice. XD )
Miu felt a bit awkward as the boy went on about being meant to meet and everything seemed to happen for a reason. In her opinion, it was merely a coincidence. But, she wouldn’t allow her mind to dampen that of a child. Not that they were many years apart, but still, to her, he was a child. When he came to join her in the sand she dug her slender fingers into the sand, bringing her hand upwards and watching as the sand sifted through the openings between her fingers. It made her smile. It felt good to be in a new place, but she truly wished her grandmother had come with her. But, the woman said that she had things to do back home and would join her when the time was right. Hopefully that wouldn’t be too long from now. Her eyes opened slightly wider than they normally where when he asked her what she was doing on Shimagakure. “I…” she started, thinking of whether to tell the younger boy or not. “Well, it’s part of why I wasn’t in the Yamanaka family grounds. Something very important happed within my family, causing my grandmother to take me with her to my aunts house. My father came to retrieve me, and my grandmother felt it would be best for me to leave her. So, she came to know of a Yamanaka family stationed here. She knew the name of the boy in which I was supposed to find, Kane, and sent me off. That’s it.” Miu held a tiny, sad smile on her face as she looked down towards the sand she had begun to play with.

"Oh, is that so..." said Eiji, realizing that what he thought was a not-so-personal turned out to be uncomfortable for her to answer. He didn't push it any more, but more questions came to mind.Changing the subject... "Will you be enrolling in the ninja academy? If you do, we can train together at home if Kane lets us stay with him!" thought Eiji. He really didn't know what to expect of the academy or what kind of children he would meet. Well, it didn't matter much, he would dedicate himself to be like Kane and how Hide was, but have fun at the same time. As he thought of all the things that could be accomplished after the academy, a smile appeared on the boy's face. "I can't wait to start learning the ways of the ninja. I mean I've read few books and whatnot, but getting to experience all this stuff I read first hand is so exciting!" exclaimed Eiji as he leaned back and lied down on the sand. He looked up at the night sky and wondered if he would start his training immediately the following day. Moving on to finding more about the other Yamanaka, he decided to go back and restart from the basics, "I'm eleven years old by the way," he casually mentioned attempting to find out how much older the girl was.

Miu nodded, keeping her eyes to the ground as she listened to the boy speak. It only took him a moment to realize it was more of a personal matter for her. Perhaps when she was more acquainted with the him she could tell him exactly what happened. Her blue eyes turned upwards towards him as he spoke of something quite interesting. “Ninja Academy? I’ve never heard of that. When I was of age to attend school I went to a Lady’s Academy. It was so boring! Just a bunch of grey ugly dresses that had puffy sleeves and went down to the ground with this black tiny little belt thing that went right here.” Miu was sitting up straight, as she was always taught to in the Academy she attended, and put both of her hands right on her waist line, showing how defined it was compared to her budding chest and full hips. “It was horrible, you couldn’t even add anything of your own. It was so sad to have to wear something that had absolutely no blue!” Miu sighed, listening to what else the boy had to say as she sat and played with the sands. “I see. You’ve had a lot of thinking put towards attending the Academy haven’t you? I am not sure what I would like to do. Perhaps I should join you in this Academy. But, I must say, I’d rather spend my time gardening. It’s one of the few pleasures in life.” the Yamanaka boy seemed to be quite excited about attending the Ninja Academy here, and seemed to envy this Kane boy greatly. Her lips held yet another shining smiled as she looked at him. “I’m fourteen, but my birthday is in two days.”

The two new arrivals were the only thing on the petite teenager's mind as she barrelled towards the shoreline like her life depended on it. It probably didn't, and neither did her job, but then again Kushina didn't want to disappoint and sadden Kane. He already had enough on him plate, not that she exactly had time to reflect on that as her number one and only priority was to welcome the new Yamanakas. Eventually she was in front of Miu and Eiji, bent over, hands on her knees, gasping for breath, her trail clearly marked by clumps of sand on the side that she'd kicked up, creating a sort of pathway. "Sorry!" she apologised profusely. Her face was red, but it didn't seem like it was only from exertion. But she quickly regained her composure and when she stood up, her face was back to normal.
"You must be Yamanaka Eiji-san and Yamanaka Miu-san," she said, holding her hand out for both of them to shake. "My name is Kushina. I work at the Yamanaka Flower Shop here. Kane-san's asked me to pick you up and has made arrangements for you to stay in the shop." She smiled brightly at both of them and held out an arm. "You must be tired," she said, and offered, "Let me carry these for you. I'll take you to the store."

Miu was a quite interesting Yamanaka since she wasn't brought up like every other Yamanaka that Eiji had met in the past. He listened quietly as she spoke trying to learn everything he could about her. "Yeah, I had been thinking about this since Kane and I write to each other quite frequently, and it sounded so cool to be part of something such as this academy," explained Eiji. Gardening was really not something Eiji enjoyed, so he kind of pushed away the thought of him helping her with such chore. Suddenly, a girl, very out of breath, approached the young Yamanaka and introduced herself as Kushina. When she mentioned a flower shop, Eiji managed a quick look at Miu to see if she would be delighted about being able to garden; he smiled at the thought. When the woman mentioned that Kane had asked them to pick them up, Eiji kind of frowned at the thought that his parents had told Kane of his arrival, well whatever. Eiji gave her his bag and smiled, "Thank you very much!" he said following the woman and leaving for the place where he would be staying.

Miu’s eyes swept over the surrounding area when the sound of feet digging into sand caught her attention. It didn’t keep her from hearing the last of what Eiji was speaking of though. Miu would make sure to check into this whole Ninja Academy thing as soon as she could. It would be quite interesting to see how it all worked. When the woman who had come began to speak and said Miu’s name aloud, she looked at the woman questioningly. Nobody knew she was coming here, unless her grandmother sent word ahead. Which was extremely unlikely seeing a show when the old woman knew of how to get to Shimagakure she immediately sent Miu away. Miu wasn’t going to mention anything about the oddity of how the woman knew her name, and would only follow as instructed. When the mention of a Flower Shop came up, Miu’s ears keyed in on them. Flowers? This wouldn’t be such a bad place at all! Maybe she would be getting her little garden quicker than she imagined. Though, she pulled her light blue backpack closer to her as the woman held her hand out to take it. “No thank you. I can carry my own things.” It wasn’t that she didn’t want the woman to touch her stuff, it was just imbedded in her mind to always care for her own things rather than have someone else do it. Or at least, that’s what she was taught at the Lady’s School. Except of course when a man was to offer, then it was the ‘lady-like’ thing to do to let them take it and allow them to be a gentleman. But she didn’t want to burden this woman by having her take her things.

[@#%$#@$!! and that's why i should never post at night. I somehow managed to forget about the surprise, about the training exercise and lose my common sense to boot!!! gonk Er. We can edit it through and stuff. Or eh. Whatever, idk.
...... seriously. !@#$!@#~#!#@$!#$!#@$#%@ sorry lol >.>]
Kushina nodded happily, and was just about to turn off and bring the Yamanakas back to the flower shop when her hand just happened to brush across her chest. And froze. Looking down, Kushina was greeted with a faceful of cleavage, but that wasn't exactly what she was worried about.
"Please wait," she said, ever-polite though something that was obviously shocking to her had happened. Her voice sounded totally different from her normal self that Eiji and Miu had met just now. "It's gone..." she mused, looking around her and patting her body and clothes to make sure that she didn't still have it somewhere. Turning worried eyes to Eiji and Miu, she asked apologetically, "Is it okay if we stay here for a while? My necklace seems to have broken somewhere around here." Kushina could clearly remember the large pendant banging against her chest as she ran here, so she was sure that it was after she'd stopped running that it happened. "Could you help me find it?" she added, a little sheepishly. "I'll look here, and if you two could look around it would make the process so much faster. I'm so sorry!" she suddenly bowed. "I'll try not to be so careless next time! It's just that my mum gave it to me, so I really don't want to lose it..." The girl was as distraught as she looked.
Eiji&Miu - Tutorial Training Exercise - Looking for Kushina's Pendant In Shimagakure, we roll dice to help us train and determine certain actions. For this training, Eiji & Miu will help Kushina look for her pendant buried in the sand. It's slipped from the string so two successful trainings are needed, 1 each per lost item. DC: 10 (A DC is the number you have to beat in order to successfully do something.) 1d20 + Detect [0] = (This is your roll. For this exercise you'll use your Detect skill to determine your character's success or failure in behavior and actions. You'll add your skill points onto your roll in order to try and beat the DC.) Train: 0/3 (This is the 'Train' amount. For every successful beat of the DC, you gain a point towards completion of the exercise. Once you have 3/3, you have completed the exercise and will be rewarded points to add to your profile.)
[+1 help to Eiji/Miu's first roll~ because Kushina pointed out the area~] (Characters can help one another in training. Depending on the rank of your character, you can give +# or -# to a person's roll. Make sure you add: +1 Kushina onto the roll section of your training.
Note: Since Eiji/Miu are level 1 and rank: student, they can only give +1/-1 to a character's training roll.)
