Ambrose had been spending many hours each day surreptiously on the beach or within the confines of the work area when there were people out there with a sander... or a knife... or a burning tool and blocks of wood. Ambrose's mind was set - and it gave him a kind of happiness. While this was much different than any Christmas 'shopping' he had done in the past, he felt strangely fulfilled. He was really pouring his heart and creatitivity into them, and he hoped they would be appreaciated - despite the absence of a large pricetag that usually was his mark of pride on his gifts. But... really working for them... cuts on his hands, the frequent smell of burned fur as the woodburner singed him, and the roughening of his pads... it was a badge of pride.

So, when Ambrose headed back to his duplex, after having surreptiously burried the gifts in a large sack in an out of the way place as he had been making a habit of the past few days, he stopped as he saw a small thing on his doorstep.

With a surprised expression, he bent down and scooped up the plushie, he felt like his heart was melting. Apparently... he was not the only one who had been feeling in the Christmas spirit.... and more than that... it was another heartfelt gift - hand stiched (which, he almsot felt bad about thinking - must have been very difficult for Amaya.)

His ears lowered in the sentiment, and his tail was wagging happily as he ran a finger over the soft material of the wolf toy and over the button eyes.

He carried it reverently inside and sat it down on the pillow.

Now he was even more eager to play 'Santa' with his own gifts.... to wait... or not to wait....

The delimma was killing him....

Joliette walked up the last door of her deliveries, Ambrose's She looked at hte envelope in her hand it like so many others had a claw hole in it, she had a feeling she managed to do it to all of them. Oh well, it couldn't be helped... and with that she leaned down and pushed the envelope under his door...

Ambrose stirred when he heard the shuffling of something under his door, but didn't rise. He had been up laaate the night before working on the finishing touches of his gifts. His hands were sore, and he was more than content lying by Angelina's side in bed, warm and comfortable.

~~

When he did finally rise, he trotted over to the door and stooped down, picking up the card, a smile on his face. From Joliette.... why that was certainly thoughtful. At least some people were doing their damndest to keep the holiday spirit alive. He was virtually aquiver with excitement to execute his plans that night.

He carefully placed the card on his nightstand, promising himself that he would follow the directions and not open the card until the following morning.

Late on Christmas eve night, a grey-furred figure slips stealthily out of his duplex, careful to avoid waking Angelina.
He pads softly out to the beach, where he gets a spade from the corner of the construction area and then unearths a large bag of goodies. Thinking mirthfully to himself that perhaps he should have adorned himself with a red stocking cap, he heads quietly back to the village, where he proceeds to stop by several of the duplexes.

~~

When Ambrose finally finishes for the night, making his last stop, he sleepily returns to his own duplex, where he wips his feet from the sand that clings to the fur on his feet, and stashes one more cloth-wrapped package under the bed, and slips back into bed next to his love, a content smile on his face and eager for morning.

Hargun made her way out of her duplex quickly, irritated with herself for not doing this sooner. In one of her arms was a few pieces of paper with scribbly writing, and several, tiny little clay figures, each wrapped in a makeshift red ribbon for a tag. Each also had a label to whom it was for. Most of them were hearts, but a few were animal shapes.

She pulled out one shaped like a little wolf pup .

Then she placed it down near the door, on top of a letter that read (In terrible handwritting):

Quote:
Dear Ambrose,

Thank you SO much for the clay! I feel embarassed saying this but, I cried when I read your letter. I felt so guilty afterwards that I HAD to do something so I made everyone a special little thing. Its not much but I hope you like it. Happy Holidays!

Love, Hargun

Christmas Morning

Very early the next morning, Ambrose was still wrapped comfortably around Angelina. His night errands had left him excited and ironically more in the Christmas spirit than he had felt in years. Therefore, he had a very hard time staying asleep for more than a few hours, excited to greet his lady love on that magical morning.

Squeezing his eyes open again to peer at the glowing red numbers on the alarm it read 5:57. He tried not to squirm. He had promised himself that he wouldn't wake Angelina until at least 6:00. And it was NEARLY six. His tail was wriggling in his excitement despite his efforts to keep still.

It felt like the slowest three minutes of his life. Finally, at precisely the strike of six, Ambrose leaned closer to Angelina and began kissing her ears, whispering, "Good Morning, Love! Merry Christmas~"

Angelina in her half-awake state skirmed as her ears and were assualed by the warm kiss-tickle sensation that sent goose pimples rising over her neck and shoulders. "merry crisma" she mumbled into the pillow.

She yawned and turned over, blinking into the dimly lit morning. "God, is it really Christmas already?" Wow, she really hoped Ambrose hadn't pulled off anything big. She didn't have him anything becuase, well, frankly she wasn't planning on having to spend her holidays on Gilligan's Island.

He chuckled lightly. Angelina, unlike himself, was never much of a morning person... which made things like this all the more amusing. He continued to place tickling kisses around her ears and neck, sniffing at the base of her neck with his wet nose before slatering a long lick down the center of her neck.

"It is. I mean... this isn't how I imagined spending it either..... but... well... I suppose we'll have to make due, yes? I say no matter where you are... this day always seems to have a touch of magic." He gave her a lopsided smile.

Angelina squealed as the rest of her back and neck and tormented by the cold, wet musings of her canine lover, and finally was left sitting up, goosebumps all over her body and her hair delightly strewn over her head in many different directions.

She chewed on her bottom lip, watching Ambrose wearily. "I... I didn't bring you anything, Ambrose," she rushed out. "I mean... I still, I mean, its hard for me to accept the world is still spinning out there, ya know? I .. >I really didn't even know it was Christmas. I mean.. I think somewhere I know it was December 25th now.. but ..but.,.. it just doesn't... I dunno. " She frowned, knowing this might be the day Angelina's mom would probably start to suspect something was wrong... They didn't talk too each other very much, but she at least called her on Christmas Day

Ambrose's ears lowered, as he listened, feeling bad for her. Scooting just a little bit up to a half seated, half lounged position with his head propped up on a hand.

"Angelina... you being here with me is more than anything I could have asked for. I am happy to share this day with you - that's more meaningful to me than anything you could have gotten me. I feel that maybe I haven't been... the most helpful during this time here for you - I know that you've been scared. I want to be here for you - help you as much as I can." He leaned forward and hugged her again.

"Now... I will admit, I did... ah... come up with something for you...."

HE leaned over the side of the bed, and there was the sound of something skidding across the floor. When he came back up, he was holding a bag made of blue tarp, tied at the top with a length of rope. "Pardon... the bad wrapping. I used what I could find." He said sheepishly.

Angelina held onto him as he hugged her, thankful to have him here. She couldn't fathom what it would be to be here with no one you knew... thinking you would never see them a gain.

Shaking the dismel thoughts form her head, she gave him an interesting look. "You did..."

She took the package and fiddled with the rope. "Aw, now I feel guilty." Regardless, here eyes looked a bit brighter and she had a smile on the corner of hermouth

Ambrose's tail waggled as she picked at the rope.
"I... ah... spent longer on yours than the other gifts I made...." He extended his paw-hands. The pads on his fingers looked much rougher than they did when they met, and there was singe marks and cuts in a few places.

As she unded the cord, and reached inside, she felt smooth wood, and withdrew a pair of interlocking wooden hearts cut from the same piece of wood

Angelina pulled out the hearts and rans her hands over them. "They're beautiful," she whispered. "You made these? Really?"

Ambrose swelled with pride and nodded. "Yeah.... you don't want to see some of the failures - I got one of them this close to being done, but then it snapped. But these... these should be sturdy."

He carefully guided her hands as he turned them over, showing that her name was etched along the side of one of the hearts, his along the other. "I know it's probably cheasy.... but I liked the symbolism.... never apart... so close that it's almost from the same stuff...." He blushed a bit. "even though we're pretty different, we seem made for eachother..." He almost burried his head in his paws from embarrassment.

"Anyway!" He cleared his throat. "I hope you like it. Them."

Angelina started to tear up. Cheesy as it was, she knew it was sincere. "They're perfect, Ambrose," she smiled. She placed them on her pillow then pounce-crawled into Ambrose's lap. "Thank you."

Ambrose's face softened and brightened with relief. She liked it!

His tail wagged erratically back and forth as he hugged her again and burried his face in her hair, a huge smile on his face.

"You're more than welcome!" He squeezed her tight.

She pulled up his paws to her face and begins to kiss the palms and any cuts she saw. "Thats the sweetest thing anyone has ever done for me"

The smile was plastered to his face, certainly not budging. "You deserve it. And more. But it was the best I could do." After she finished kissing his palms he ruffled her already bed-mussed hair.

"I wanted to make this Christmas happy for you, despite everything."

"You didn't have to fillet your hands for that. You being here with me makes me happy."

He smirked. "They're not that bad. And it was worth it. Besides, over time and with some more kisses, I'm sure they'll be fully healed." He winked.

"Is... there anything else I can do? For you? With you? I want today to be special. I could take you to the beach.... wherever you like."

"The beach on CHristmas..." She shook her head. BAck home, the nearest rockey beach would be frigid cold and probably snowy. "I think that could be.. memorable." She learned forward and kissed him slowly.

"Maybe if I could scratch up something to give you down there?" She raised her eyebrows suggestively

He smiled. "It sounds like a perfect plan then." He whispered, leaning forward to kiss her again, that blush rising to his cheeks again. "Per....haps." He agreed shyly. He just hoped no one else decided to make a trip to the beach that early on Christmas morning.

"We could watch the sunrise.... among .... other things rise." He got to his feet, offering her his hand.

She took it, standing up, then quickly went to put her new treasure on the bed side table, setting it up the best she could to display it

Ambrose opened the door, and saw a few things sitting on the doorstep outside. With a smile, he carefully placed them inside to examine more closely at a later point, and bowed, gesturing to the outside predawn.

"Shall we, my lady?"

Angelina threw her hair into a ponytail and took his hand, smiling broadly. "Yes, m'lord."

Ambrose patted down the trail to the beach. The air was still - most of the day animals had not yet woken, and most of the night animals had long since retired. A few birds twittered, testing out their voices for the day.

The jungle spread out to either side of them as they walked down the narrow dirt road - and it really secured the genuine tropical island feel. However, being actually december, the weather was on the chilly side, probably lingering somewhere around fourty or fifty degrees. Ambrose's thick fur, for once, was a benefit and kept him warm. He put an arm around Angelina's shoulders.

"It's not very far from here - just a few minutes walk. "He smiled as he spoke quietly.

Angelina wrapped her arms around herself and stuck close to Ambrose, the cool air helping her wake up more. "At least the view is nice around these parts," she smiled, looking over the landscape in the dim light

"It is.... I've done some exploring of the jungle. It's... dense. But nice - in a strange way. Lots of animals. I've even spied a monkey a few times... and I think there is some sort of wild feline somewhere. But it's pretty elusive. But I am looking forward to showing you the beach - it's beautiful."

"That sounds like fun," she said. "Exploring.. you'll have toi take me to that soon, too." Angelina loved animals... had circumstances been different she would have probably had all kind of adventures in the jungle already

Ambrose grinned. "It really can be an adventure - you never know what you might find... like one of those early explorers... uncharted territories." A flash of Colche popped into his mind. Last time he had gone exploring with someone was her. How long had it been since he had seen her..?

He shook his head and smiled back to her. "I would love to sometime. It could be a lot of fun."

As they walked, the beach opened up before them, a narrow, but glistening virgin beach - with white sands that reflected back the dusky violet of the sky. "And we made it - it's nearly sunrise." He smiled to her. "The beach on the West of the island is wider, but I wanted you to see the sunrise. Besides.... less people come to this side of the island." He winked at her.

Angelina scanned the beach and looked for a cozy spot to watch the sunrise. She took Ambroses's hand and sat him down, snuggling up as close as she could get, watching out over the horizon intently

He cuddled up next to her, leaning against her while holding her close to him with his arm around her shoulders.

Slowly, the sky turned from a lavernder to a pink, and then the sun started to crest over the horizon, casting a golden glow over the water - coloring the skies like a paintbrush.

Angelina watched with a mystical expression, cuddled up next to Ambrose this was probably the first time everything felt...okay. She was content, and she watched fixedly with a content smile on her face, her body leaning comfortingly againt Ambrose's

Ambrose was silent through most of the sunrise, just happy to hold her and finally share one of the few beautiful experiences of the island with her.

Finally, as the sun fully lifted itself out of the waters of the Atlantic, he spoke quietly "Merry Christmas."

"Merry Christmas," she whispered back, smiling back at him.

Ambrose smiled. He was happy, he honestly was. He didn't think that he could be - more than just for a moment. Things felt... right. As right as they could be.

When you get back to your room the first thing that you'll see is that the door has had a wolf headed knocker added to it.

When he opens the door you'll see that various wolf statues.

There are also a few wrapped packages, every single one of them is a book about wolves. There is even a red riding hood child's book with the wolf as the good guy.

In the drawers you find that you have been given new clothing, as well as there are bath supplies and scented oils in the bathroom with a ribbon around them.

Merry Christmas Ambrose.

It had been a glorious day. Ambrose had not spent the entire day at the beach since he was a small child... and between sand in his swim trunks that had been shoveled there by Dreu and sunburns and jellyfish, and of course his domineering parents, it had been a much less enjoyable time.

He had been out to the beach many many times since his arrival on the Island - and often it had brought him peace to see the same ocean that somewhere touched the shores of his beloved America... to see the shining waves and smell the sea breeze. It was a place to think or fence.... or perhaps to even run into new faces or old. But never had a whole day been spent on the shoreside. It always lost its charm after a few hours. And sooner or later he always found himself wishing that he could share it with Angelina. He had been to the New england beaches with her a time or two - but it was never the same as the beautiful tropical one here.

Now, finally, he had shared it with her... from beautiful sunrise... to majestic sunset. On the rocks.... on the sands.... beneath the rocks... in the water... under the water... with eachother. They had snoozed a few times - having risen very early - and Ambrose had even made a quick dash out to the cafeteria to make a nice picnic of some sumptuous Christmas delights. Among... other things.

Finally, the sun slipped below the horizon, extinguishing the light and, most importantly, the warmpth. The sands themselves still held some of the nicer temperature, but the air coming from the seas brought a chill.
Ambrose turned with soft eyes to his lady.

"Did you have a good day, Angelina?"

Angelina rolled over and snuggled up to the now sand-crusted Ambrose. "The best I've had in a long time...."

She leaned over him and kissed him slowly. "We should probably go back, him? I'm lacking this little fur-coat thing you have going on here..."
PostPosted: Tue Dec 27, 2005 7:58 pm

He gave her a tight squeeze, his smile stretching his face. "I'm glad. It was a very merry Tropical Christmas". He chuckled.

He gave a little bit of a shake as he pulled away from her. "And while it's keeping me warm, it is admittedly getting quite... scratchy. I think that a shower sounds wonderful. I think I have sand in all sorts of places I don't even want to think about."

He stretched out a hand to give her a lift up. "Come here my little beach bug" he grinned.

"Beach bug?" She grinned, standing up and giving him a pinch on his behind.

"Anyway, a shower sounds great. Want some conpany!?" Angelina looked extremely... happy. For the first time since she came here she had a smile pinned to her face and a glowing look in her eye.

His tail wagged at the pinch and he yelped a laugh as he grabbed her hand as he started back down the trail to the 'village'.

"I would love some." He flashed a grin at her. "Besides - it's hard to reach the fur down the center of my back.... with all that sand - most appreaciated" He teased as he trotted down the path.

Angelina trotted down beside Ambrose. "Hey look," she said getting back towards the room. "Looks like you have presents!"
PostPosted: Tue Dec 27, 2005 8:21 pm

Ambrose blinked as he saw a few objects sitting on the doorstep and .... was that a wolfhead knocker on the door?

"What the-" He murmured trying to decipher his feelings of liking it... or not.

"I am positive that wasn't here when we left." He commented, scratching his chin as he took a closer look. His ears flicked backwards. "Is this some sort of joke?" He shuffled in place a bit. It was kind of interesting.... but.... looking at the face of a wolf every time he walked in his door? That was likely a 'gift' from Moreau. Talk about a reality check.

"What.... do you think about it...?"

He stooped down, picking up a small clay figurine with a softer smile. He recognized the clay as the same he had dug up and given to Hargun.
