Devakanya watched Harper curiously. Was he really going to eat all that? Zack would never, ever let her have that much ice cream...but...it seemed like Solo was offering. The young unicorn shrugged, waiting until Harper was settled before glancing back at the selections. Well. She really did like strawberry. She pointed to the pastel pink ice cream before spotting rainbow sprinkles lurking in the corner.
Oh oh oh!
She wanted those too! She tapped the glass eagerly, making sure Solo understood she wanted the pretty rainbow ones, not the brown ones. Sprinkles were okay...right?
She looked over at Harper, a mildly amused smile sliding across her face. He was going to be one big mess of sticky colors when he was done.
Zack nodded, chuckling. "Well, whatever. As long as you want to, man. I'm sure Devi would go along happily. Might wanna warn your sister she's silent, though." He good mood died a little as Sunny spoke about his child's muteness. "She don' talk, man. And there's something wrong with that." He probably left the cabbage out too long in the sun, or something. Or maybe there was something in the water he sprayed it with. He had no doubt it was his fault. Look at Osha. He barely spoke. Maybe it was something about him...
Zack quirked an eyebrow and gave Sunny a curious look, but didn't make a remark. Whatever. Wasn't really his place. He was more than happy to welcome the change of subject.
"Yep. That's what you play?" The smile slowly wormed his way back onto his face. "Playing with someone else would be a good change of pace..."

Soloman gave a sigh, "That's still it, huh? Oh well, here we go. Some of that pink stuff and blue stuff with the rainbow sprinkly stuff for the lady, on a cone." Harper said with a nod while setting Deva down and moving to pat her on the head.
The vendor shook his head quickly, "I apologize sir, we cannot put toppings on cones, so if you would like a cup ins-"
"YO JUST PUT THE SPRINKLES ON THE ICE CREAM." Soloman yelled. One thing for Solo, he could be quite intense and scary when he wanted, even Harper jumped a little, but after Harper measured Soloman up a bit he cracked a grin at Deva. He was just playin'.
The vendor was certainly not payed enough to argue, so instead he mumbled something about how it wouldn't be his problem if the sprinkles got all over the child's hands he served up the ice cream cone and gave it to Soloman who promptly went to give it to Deva. At that, Harper motioned with his head that they should run off and play while Solo 'negotiated' the 7 dollar and 30 cent bill.
"IS SO GOOD!" Harper squealed.
Sunny smiled, "You can be timid and talk peoples ears off. If she's happy she's happy, theres other ways of communicating.. probably even better ways at that. It's probably a sign if wisdom too, especially if that other kid of yours can talk but just doesn't want too. World could use more people who think b'fore they talk."
He scratched his head a moment later and gave a light shrug. He had been deemed a fantastic guitarist on earth, but in all fairness, he had magic on his side. 'Cheater,' if you wanted to take it that far. Bards for you.
"Yes. I don't play with other people often, would be interesting at the very least." He gave a nod.

Devakanya offered Solo a small smile, standing close to his leg as he set her down. Maybe Harper was right. His guardian didn't seem so scary after all. She wouldn't have minded her ice cream in a cup, but Solo was quick to tell the vendor off. She shied away from him, glancing at Harper for reassurance. He seemed amused, so all she could do was grin back and latch onto Solo's leg as she waited.
He handed down her cone and her eyes widened, small hands grasping the cone firmly. She would not let the ice cream fall so the dirt could eat it. The young unicorn glanced up, offering Solo a wide smile, bobbing her head as a strange way of trying to thank him before toddling after Harper, licking her cone delicately as she went. She couldn't voice her glee, but it was definitely somewhere along the lines of Harper's.
Zack shrugged, appreciating Sunny's attempt to put the sunny side up. "See, that's the thing. I'm not entirely sure if she's happy. Not like she can...tell me what she wants and stuff." He shook his head. "At least Osha's vocal about that stuff." He couldn't help but chuckle at the thought. "Paints all over the clothes he doesn't want, you know, so I gotta buy him something new." Zack was careful to let Osha pick his clothes now. He couldn't afford to replace clothes every week.
"Hey, we really should play together sometime," Zack chirped, tired of beating around the bush. "The squirts could amuse each other. They seem to get along well enough."

While Soloman had seemed a bit confused at the child's sudden 'clingyness' he didn't particularly care; taking far more interest in scary the poor ice cream vendor out of his mind.
So Harper (quite carefully) moved off, glancing once at Sunny, back at Solo, and then around the park for something else more interesting. "Anywhere to play?" He asked Deva, trying to find a play set or something to that affect. Then he went back to gutting his ice cream tower. In a very comical sort of way, he had pressed out the green scoop in the middle of the scoops out and onto the floor. Instead of causing a topple effect, the scoops above it simply fell down and re stacked. "Yechy," He informed Deva. Apparently the green ice cream tasted how it looked.
Sunny shrugged. He came to the sudden realization that he was a considerably happier person when not surrounded by his 'friends,' and had been somewhat lost in thinking of that. Maybe it was just a mood.
"Nobody thinks I'm happy. Well, usually." He gave another shrug and then just smiled, "Can she write? Does she smile? Encourage her to dance or play music. Nothin' happier than that." Yes, he was a very good uncle, and he was briefly quite proud of himself.
"Sure thing. I'll give you our address.. Solo over there is our drummer, and the other guy, Eliot, our bassist. As I said my sister sings for us too but.... well, maybe you just wanted an instrumental." He snorted.

Devakanya shrugged (still licking her ice cream, of course). She always hung around the trees Zack slept in and read picture books until he woke up...but that lost it's appeal after awhile. She nibbled the last sprinkles away from her cone thoughtfully. Well, they could play in the sand box and build castles. She pointed with a small shrug. Or they could try to climb trees like Zack did. She's always wanted to get up high, if not only to figure out why her guardian liked it so much.
Devi smiled. Good thing she just had pink and blue, huh? Pretty ice cream usually tasted good.
Zack shrugged. "Well, she's gonna be in real school now, so I guess they'll teach her to write." Better them than her. No counting how many ways he'd mess that up. "Hey, teachin' her to play music is a good idea, man!" That wicked grin made itself at home on Zack's lips again. "Now that's something I won't mess up."
Zack nodded. "I don't care, long as it ain't fruity pop music. I play rock, just rock. M'just that kinda guy."

Harper glanced to the sandbox and considered it for a little while, "But then our ice cream get dirty?" He mused out loud. Still, there was little else a person his size could do... climbing trees wouldn't of been too possible without the aid of a larger person, and between the two kids and the ice cream it probably wouldn't go well.
"Sokay. I like dirty ice cream too." He nodded and walked as quickly as his tower would allow toward the sandboxes, "We bury feets maybe!?"
Sunny nodded. "Harper's already learning stuff from us, picks up pretty fast too, so I guess he's got a naturally 'musical' mind if you will. Still, we haven't tried anything too complicated yet, his age and all. His attention is about as long as Solomans, and it's just a miracle drums keep him occupied 'cause I'm fairly sure if he played anything else' he'd loose his mind by the end of a song." He sighed loudly.
"We can have jam sessions with the kids, yah? Personally I'm hopin' Harper goes for the guitar." He grinned in a prideful way. It hadn't occurred to him that Harper could learn more than one instrument, so it was an all or nothing thing in his mind.

Devi shrugged. If they were careful, they could probably keep their ice cream from dropping. Given, hers was almost gone, so she wasn't very worried about it. She had already eaten the entire strawberry scoop, just leaving the electric blue bubblegum ice cream. It was a little funny-tasting...buuuut, she thought it was alright. There were even little pieces of gum in it!
She walked alongside Harper, having much less trouble. She settled on the wooden side, crossing her ankles like any good girl should. She nodded, smiling a little as she kicked off her sandles and wiggled her toes before burying them in the sand. This was kinda cool.
Zack listened thoughtfully. "Huh. I wonder what kind of instrument the princess would want to play." He chuckled a little. "For some reason, I can't see her playing a guitar or drums or a keyboard," he mused, snickering.

Going along, by the time Harper was to the sand box he was quite full of ice cream. So he carefully pushed of the remaining bits of scoops into the sand, keeping the last blue ice cream and the cone to match her. Always room for a liiiitle more.
He took a big bite and then frowned, having bit into some gum and gotten a brain freeze at the same time. So, he promptly 'accidentally' threw his ice cream at Deva!
"Uh oh.." Harper began.
Sunny shook his head, "You call her princess? Aintcha worried that's gonna give her a big head or somethin? We call ours rat, or spawn of despair. Keeps things in focus for him." He grinned. He was joking. Mostly. "Maybe some classical type instrument.. rock tools ain't everything, you know?"

Devakanya was not expecting ice cream to come flying her way, so when the cold treat land on her arm, she promptly bolted, whatever left of her cone flying sideways in her wake. She trembled, whipping her arm around to get rid of the creepy crawly...but it wasn't...moving. She looked down, finally, only to realize she had been fleeing...ice cream. That was...embarrassing. Now, where her ice cream gone?
Fearing the worst, she slowly brushed the sticky mess of her arm and the top of her hand before turning to face Harper. She hadn't gotten him...had she?
Zack watched the girl flail, shaking his head. "...ain't nothin' better to call her. Fer christ sake, she's a bloody unicorn! All fantasy and pretty things." He chuckled, looking back at Sunny. "I think she'd cry if I called her 'rat'. Can't complain, so just look pitiful at me or cry and then I'd be compelled to buy her somethin'. Lucky yours is a boy." He nodded sagely, as though he had some wisdom in this matter. Clearly, the fact that Osha was a boy and still needed stuff didn't click.
"Heh. Maybe we just need to start her on somethin' soft and wean her off of it. Like piano to keyboard."

Well of course he had gotten sticky in the commotion as well. Even if she hadn't, he'd of likely smeared the cream in the sand all over him for the fact it looked like fun.
Instead of apologizing he just giggled insanely and pointed at her, "You sticky! We both sticky!" He exclaimed, as though it were great. He fussed with his shoes briefly to get them off then stuck his toes into the ice cream in the sand. "COLD TOES!" He yelped.
"Well I guess, but calling her stuff like that ain't gonna toughen her up at all, you know? I' ain't saying you should berate the child, not like I even know her all that well.. maybe given' her a tougher nickname might. Yaknow. Encourage her to toughen up and speak in the ways she can. Seems to me 'princess' just encourages her to .. act like a princess.... not that there's anything all that great about princesses.."
By then, Sunny had no real connection to the situation, having gone off into one of his thoughts and disconnected some. He snapped back and quickly looked to Zack to try and read any reaction; mainly to see if he should retreat should the thing go sour.
"Piano's are the start of most any instrument learning, so I hear. To learn how to read music or whatever." He added with a slight shrug.

Devakanya didn't understand why being sticky was so much fun. It was kind of gross, really. She shook her hand again, looking rather desperate as the sticky residue refused to budge. She was going to need a bath. She frowned as the boy yelped, shaking her head. Of course his toes were cold! He was stepping in ice cream!
"She's just a kid, I don' really need to toughen her up just yet." He shrugged. He didn't know much about the mentality of small girls. He never had a sister and he always hung out with the boys his age. He'd always assumed all small girls wanted to be princesses. "Iunno. Maybe I'll ask her. I'm not very creative." He gave sunny a wry grin. "I call her brother Red. Guess what color his hair is?"
He looked up at the yelp, observing the kids with a bemused smile. "I think it's time to rein her in," he muttered. Too much activity was likely to make Devi cry. She was, after all, finally getting used to playing with other kids, so he didn't want to ruin it. He stretched and began to head over.
"Punk, princess," he greeted each, nodding respectively. "Time to get ready to go home, princess. Your brother's gonna be home soon."
He turned back to Sunny. "Give me a call, 'er somethin'?" He grinned, before adding, "Y'know. So we can play together."
Meanwhile, Devi was watching Harper. She had to go! She gave him a sad little wave, sighing.
