"Not a boy? Does that make you a girl then? Odd... Although a bit on the small side for a stallion I certainly wouldn't have called you a mare." He snorted softly, giving his head another light toss. "Have it your way then. I've never been one to argue over someone's opinion of themself."

Kal bristled a bit more. There it was again, and why Tapanga had wanted to find such a dryly mocking companion would probably forever elude the little male. "I am a stallion," he said, not finishing off by adding the 'even if I am small,' thought.

She had wanted to find Telikos because he was never mean to her. Oh, sometimes he said things that weren't exactly nice but he didn't mean them. "Dark Lady says Teli is full of hot air." She murmured as she fluttered closer to Kal, a bright smile curving her mouth.
"Are you? Then you are a contradicting stallion because you just said you weren't a boy." He seemed to make a motion that was as close to a shrug as his body could get. "No matter. I suppose I should thank you for returning the wild one."

Kal turned his head a bit to regard the little mare, but her comment seemed to keep him from getting too upset. Perhaps that was how other stallions grew to be so much bigger, hot air. It was an amusing thought, and he couldn't keep from smiling just a bit before looking up to the large unicorn.
"I'm an adult, not a foal," he restated, it had not been the gender that irked him, but the implication that he was so young. Although it really wouldn't make much of a difference, he felt he had to make that clear before moving on. "You're welcome, I-I should probably go back home..." he trailed off as he glanced back in the direction he had come. Was he just imagining it, or had things gotten a bit darker?

"I'd hazzard a guess that you are younger than I am, even if you aren't a foal. You are a younger male... That makes you a boy." He smirked, once more giving that gesture that said he really didn't care how the other male argued his case otherwise. "... Especially if your going to start stammering suddenly after defending yourself so valliantly."

Kal completely forgot about arguing. Had he defended himself valiantly? The backwards compliment made him blink up at the larger stallion with a bit of confusion and a bit of hesitant hope, since he was still young enough to be flattered by such honourable sounding words.
But even so, he was sure it had gotten a bit darker. The little alicorn swished his tail nervously, hoping he would be able to find his way back through the forest.

He tilted his head up towards the canopy above before nickering softly to Tapanga. "C'mon, bug. Night will be setting in soon and we should get back to Lady before then... Wouldn't do at all for something your size to be out and about in the dark... Something might come along and eat you." He smirked as he turned around, expecting Tapanga to flit after him as she always did.

So it had gotten darker, it wasn't just his imagination.
He turned away from the other two, trying to pick his way back through the woods. The trail was harder to see in the dark, the broken branches and scuffed underbrush seemed to fade into the background so much easier, and Kal was too small and too careful to have made the trail any more noticeable.
"G-goodbye then, i-it was nice meeting you both," he said over his shoulder, but he couldn't keep his growing anxiety out of his voice. The little stallion only took a couple trembling steps before glancing back again. He was really fighting the urge to just bolt, he wanted to make sure Tapanga heard his goodbye, and then he would need all his wits about him to make it out of the forest safely.

She fluttered beside the smaller stallion for a moment before speeding up next to Telikos. She turned, nickering softly at her new 'friend'. "Bye, Kal! Thanks for helping Tapanga find Teli! Don't get eaten!" The last bit was added on without thought; not because she thought that he would get eaten... But because Telikos had said similar things to her every so often.
He couldn't help but laugh to himself softly as he listened to the flutter, nickering once more before he began to move forward into the forest. They had a good bit of ground to cover before nightfall.
