Easter Party (RP with Lorelei and others)

[X] Jack
[X] Lorelei
[X] Sjajan
[X] Yukito
[X] Mignon
[X] Ronin

Dulcea
Jack frowned, wandering through the near knee-high grass looking for a familiar face. He wasn't shy persay, he just didn't want to make an effort to meet someone that might piss him off anyway. Crunch. Nyegh. He took another tear off the jerky, cracking a smile when he caught the eye of someone that looked familiar. Jan. At least, he thought so. If it was she was certainly bigger than she had been last time he'd seen her.

Indubitably
"Ah dun lie." Jan's statement was simple, stated as fact as she reassured herself visually of Lorelei's health. Then she raised an eyebrow at the bauble, having always believe Lore about it's sentinence. "Ilo, y'shoul' take beh'r care o'er...." Her voice trailed off as she caught sight of some bright hair. Jack? Yep. A smile appeared. She harbored no ill feelings for her facial scaring. She liked the mark. "Wha're yeh up to, Jack?" Her voice was slightly raised, so he could hear it from where he creeped.

Kaze Taco
Ilo harumphed to himself.

"Not like I could help it, woman..."

"Ilo, don't be a cranky-pants... Jack?" Lorelei turned around, looking in vain for her father. However, she did not see her father. Instead she saw a rather frightening-looking young boy with bright red hair.

Instinctively she grabbed ahold of Ilo and backed up a little bit, closer to the older Sin'aeis.

Dulcea
Before he answered Jan he crammed the left bit of jerky into his mouth, dribbling out the corner a bit as he swallowed it half chewed. He wiped his hands off on his jacket, leaving a little set of greasy smears behind. "Ay Jan!" he shouted back, waving one hand. He sped up his approach, almost running. The extra weight he'd put on slowed him down from his adventure at the zoo, but not enough to be noticeable to anyone but him. He panted a bit as he reached them, setting his hands on his knees, "Got dumped here."

Kaze Taco
Lorelei looked at the jerky-eating toddler and nodded a little bit.

"It's been awhile, Jack," she said nervously, "Do you remember me?"

There was something oddly savage about the little boy. Something that put poor Lorelei on the edge. Still, she had a dazed smile on her face, and as long as Ilo floated nearby her she felt safe.

Dulcea
"Nnygu?" He quirped, peering at Lore out of the corner of his eye, "Yer the duck girl, right?" Bird at the very least. Probably. Despite having just eaten, his stomach growled again. Hm. He could always ask her if she had some food. Or he could go after the remaining crud in the bottom of his pockets. Both seemed viable.

Kaze Taco
"Yeah, I'm the ducky girl," she smiled again, even more dazedly than before. She was about to say something, but her words were drowned out by Jack's stomach.

"Um..." Lorelei blinked and started to rummage through her stola.

"Oh, here we go!" she pulled out a half-melted Crunch Bar and offered it to the boy, "It's kinda melty, but the package isn't ripped."

Dulcea
With the offering of the food, his opinion of her skyrocketed. He took the bar quickly, tearing it open before he mumbled a "thanks" and jammed it in his mouth. The chocolate was just melted enough that it gooied on his tongue, the way he liked it. He liked this ducky girl. "What'syer name?" he asked through a mouthful of sugar, having forgotten anything past ducky.

Kaze Taco
Lorelei didn't mind that he had forgotten her name, in fact the only reason she remembered his was because it was the same name of her father.

"I'm Lorelei," she offered, "Feel free to call me Lore, though. And I'm glad you like the chocolate, I had almost forgotten about it in my pocket."

Lorelei lifted up the edge of her stola, showing that she wore slate-blue jeans underneath.

Dulcea
"Lore," he repeated, nodding his head. Much better name than he'd expected, as odd as that seemed. She looked like an Ashley to him, or something girly like that. He glanced around for sight of others he knew, but none really stood out, "So what's everybody here fer?" He broke off the part of the bar that remained out of his mouth, but absently smeared some of it on his face as he tried to wipe his mouth. Though, as he went to put the part of the bar away, he noticed something on the ground, and with his short attention span, went to investigate. "Wha's this?"

Kaze Taco
Lorelei peered over Jack's shoulder and grinned, "It looks like you found what we are here for."

She gestured to the egg, "Everyone's egg-hunting here. It's a tradition for Easter. Congratulations on finding one!"

In all honestly, Lorelei didn't know that many Sin'aeis. However, she recognized someone else, kneeling by an odd ninja boy.

"Yukito?! The Hell Hot Springs Boy!"

Dulcea
Scooping the egg up, Jack frowned. Egg-hunting? Well, that was kind of dumb. And it was colored funny. He lifted it to his face, sniffing it gingerly. He couldn't exactly tell what was inside it, but it didn't seem that appetizing. Maybe later he'd crack it open, but for now he'd just play along and try to find some others. He snapped to attention when Lore shouted, turning to look same direction as her. The Hell.. What?

Rayne Winner
Yukito nodded, "Yes, I doubt I tasted much at all like the stuff, sorry about that." He said, trying to think of how one would explain how he could 'be chocolate' but not be it at the same time but instead his attention was drawn over to Lore who had just yelled at him, "Hello again Lore." He said, giving the duck girl a smile, "Its very nice to see you again, you didn't get hurt at all in your fall did you?" She was walking around and seemed to be in good spirits so she was no doubt fine due to Jani catching her but he figured he would ask none the less.

He then looked to her companion to give the redhead a smile as well and greeted him with a, "Hello." He said, wow did that bright hair color make him think of Aard.

Kaze Taco
"I'm doing fine," Lorelei lilted, "Jani's a good catcher. You've grown..."

She tilted her head the other way, stating the obvious. She brushed her stola free of dirt and gestured for Ilo to follow her as she started to close the distance between herself and Yukito.

"Come on, Jack. Yukito's really nice. He helped me discover the Hell Hot Spring inside the Manor."

Dulcea
Jack shot Yukito a suspicious glare, keeping close behind Lore. She was a food supplier, which gave him a reason to protect her should anyone get any ideas. Not that this... Guy? Well, whatever, not that this person looked like that big of a threat. But still. Lore wanted him to be nice, so he'd try. "Kay," he said simply, not responding to the other person's greeting.

Rayne Winner
Yuki nodded, "Its good to hear that she was able to save you from harm." He said, quite glad indeed that Jani had been there. Lore could have been hurt quite badly had the tall girl not been there to catch her something he didn't want to think about so he forced the thought away.

Her commenting on his growing made him think on how his being reclusive wasn't a good thing, he'd grown a while ago and yet nobody knew... it showed that he really, really should get back into the swing of things.

Kaze Taco
"Oh! Yukito, this is Jack," Lorelei dazedly looked from one boy to the other, oblivious to the younger boy's suspicions.

"Don't let those blue eyes fool you," she lilted, "He's a toughie." She grinned once more as she twirled Ilo in one of her hands, the emerald bauble glinting in the sunlight.

Dulcea
Jack turned a little red at what he thought was a compliment, kicking his foot in the grass. "Tou-fer than you, least," he added, snorting a bit under his breath. Alright, so he wasn't good at introductions. That aggression was also partially due to his current position as the smallest one around.

Rayne Winner
"It is nice to meet you Jack." He said, before he gave him a nod, "I am quite sure that your a lot tougher then me too, I am not much of a fighter." He turned to watch Lore as she around, almost getting dizzy from watching her and he wasn't even standing.

Kaze Taco
Lorelei grinned, happy that her two friends seemed to be getting along. She looked around for more people and saw a curly-haired beauty with a baby walking towards them.

She waved dazedly, not recognizing Mignon or the baby in her arms.

"Hello~"

Ilo continued to spin around in Lorelei's hand, and he was getting quite dizzy.

Dulcea
Jack wiped his right hand off on his jacket then took hold of the end of Lore's stola, trying his best not to tug hard enough to get her attention. This way he could make sure he was still close to her, since she seemed to not be paying too much attention. What would he do if she just wandered off huh? Find someone else to walk around with? Well, maybe, but what ever. "Who's them?" He asked the air, nodding toward Mig and the thing she was carrying.

Kaze Taco
"I feel like I've seen the girl before," Lorelei tilted her head, "But it was awhile ago... I can't remember."

She shrugged, "Then again, I am rather bad at remembering things." She tilted her head dazedly once more, the same clueless smile appearing on her face.

Jeanemon
"Let's see if we can..." Green hair. Green hair. And ducky feet. "Lorelai!" She called out, waving with one hand while still holding baby with the other.

"It's been a while, little ducky. And who's your cute friend?" She asked with a nod to Jack.

Dulcea
Jack wrinkled up his nose, shifting his weight onto his other foot, "I ain't cute." Alright, so far there was no reason for him to like this girl. At least she looked like a girl, unlike the unguyish guy he'd just met. And apparently the thing was a person, again of unidentified gender. Oh well, not really that interesting. "I'm tough. Ain't cute. Kilah says tough's better." Because of course, Akilah was his number one source for important information like that.

Sanrio-Chan
Ronin mimicked Mig. He waved ever so crazily to the new people, a huge grin planted on his face. Mig seemed to know them so they must be friendly; and being friendly meant playing! "Ii! Play?"

Rayne Winner
Yukito tilted his head catching site of something and he pushed up to his feet going over to fetch it. An egg of blue and cream that was sitting among the green grass. He smiled as he looked it over, walking back over to the group, "Hello Mignon and Mignon's little friend." He greeted the pair when he returned back to where they were, tucking the egg away into his pocket to keep it safe.

Jeanemon
"Well, who says you can't be both? You do look tough." Okay. A little bruiser, then. Mig smiled. "I'm Mignon. Who're you then, tough guy?"

She rolled her eyes after a moment. "Of course Kilah would say being tough is better than being cute. Just how she is."

Dulcea
"M' Jack," he told her, holding out his still-grubby hand. People seemed to like that hand shaking thing, at least Aunt Ul said they did. He kind of saw some point to it, maybe figuring out what the other person ate or something. "Not Jacobin, not Jackie, just Jack," he added pointedly, crossing his arms over his chest.

Jeanemon
"Nice to meet you, Jack." Mig leaned down slightly to shake his hand. Ew. Kid germs. Oh, well. There were certain things you had to do to ensure a good relation with the next generation of future boyfriends.

Very carefully, she sat Ronin down. "Okay, little guy. You need a ride, you just come poke me, okay? Don't get into trouble."

Sanrio-Chan
Well that wasn't fair. Ronin pouted for a second being set on the ground. The orangy-yellowy ducky feet of Lorelei intregged him though. He poked at them. They were not people feet, they felt different. He looked up at Lorelei and looked confused. "Eh?"

Dulcea
Jack bristled up at the baby's gesture, fidding at his waist for the handle of his knife. The kid wasn't doing anything bad yet, but he was a little close. His stomach grumbled quietly, and he snarled under his breath. He slid his hand away from the knife and instead retrieved the now meltier chocolate from his pocket, licking it off his hand before proceeding to bite a new hunk off.

Jeanemon
"No eating the baby." Mig said sharply, watching Jack carefully. "I like the little me-clone in his full, alive state."

Dulcea
Jack snorted at Mig's comment, finding it a little funny that she was giving him orders. Now had it been someone he respected, maybe, but now he wanted to hurt the kid just because she was being a b***h about it. "I ain't gonna hurt it, not worth it."

Kaze Taco
"Mignon!" Lorelei finally remembered after minutes of standing there in a stupor.

She looked at the little baby and tilted her head, "He's cute. Don't eat him, though, Jack. He's too greasy and probably wouldn't make a good cut."

Creepy? Yes, but she is a chef... ehehe...

Sanrio-Chan
Ronin enjoyed being called cute and cooed over. This Jack character seemed a tad hungry. So being an infant and having an ifinity with eating anything in sight Ronin picked a hand full of grass from the ground and handed it up towards Jack.

Jeanemon
Mig smiled, apparently satisfied. "Thank you, Jack. A tough guy like you would be too much for the little baby." Mig looked down at the baby after a moment, frowning. It'd probably be nice if she knew his name, Ah, well. s**t happened.

Dulcea
Grass? What the hell was wrong with this kid? He kicked his foot at the hand, attempting to knock the dumb mess loose. "That's dumb, ya don't eat that, it ain't no good," he snapped, taking a step toward the baby. "An 'sides, I got better stuff."

Kaze Taco
In an attempt to nullify Jack's kick at the baby, Lorelei knelt down and gently took the grass from the butter baby.

"Thank you," she said with a dazed smile on her face.

"Lorelei... I'll teach you a neat trick..." whispered Ilo.

After a moment of listening to apparantly nothing, Lorelei held the blade of grass to her lips and blew. It took a few moments, but soon a a little noise came from the grass-- a whistle.

Sanrio-Chan
Ronin flinched at the foot, Luckily Lorelei salvaged his grassy treasure. He fell back on to his bottom. His lip quivered. Ronin reached for Mignon, tears starting to surface his golden eyes. He made a sobby noise. 'Be a big boy, your not hurt.' Where was Sanrio when he needed her?

Jeanemon
Mig rolled her eyes and scooped Ronan up. "There, there. Don't worry. You're not hurt." She cooed, patting his back.

Dulcea
Jack scoffed and lost interest as they comforted the boy, dropping to a sit in the grass. He picked at a hole in his jeans, messing with the scab on the leg underneath it. He'd gotten that falling down the stairs, or out of the van, he didn't really remember. Without warning, he pulled his knife from it's sheath, starting to slowly use it to pull the scab off.

Kaze Taco
As her little whistle wasn't doing anything, Lorelei let go of it and laughed as it fell to the ground. Standing up, she walked over to Jack and kneeled down to look at his knife.

"Ya know, if that gets infected it could get all gross and nasty and you might have to cut your leg off."

She smiled again before dazedly starting to twirl, laughing and enjoying the breeze.

"So, Mignon, how have you been?"

Sanrio-Chan
Ronin stopped as soon as Mig picked him up. She reminded him of his mom when she said what she did. It was something Sanrio often spoke to him. He clinged his tiny arms around her neck and glared down at Jack. Ronin did not want to be near Jack. He was mean. Tried to kick him and everything. That knife was interesting, however. Silver and shiny, though a bit dull and dirty looking. Nothing unexpected from the dishevled red head.

Jeanemon
"There. That's better." Mig gave him a loud smooch on the cheek.

"I've been better. Can't complain too much, though. It's been worse. You?" The onion girl smiled slightly. "I bet you've been fine."

Kaze Taco
"What makes you think that?" Lorelei grinned as she continued to twirl, "Well, my bauble started talking to me a few months ago. And now I can memorize any recipie I see! I can't cook very elaborate things, though. Soon, though, I will be the greatest chef in all of the Manor!"

She shot her index finger epically into the sky to illustrate her point.

Dulcea
"I ain't scared," Jack told Lore flattly, despite the fact that she seemed preoccupied now, taking a sideways stabbing motion at the wound, now seeping a bit of fresh bright blood, "An sides, gross stuff don't bother me." It did however, bother that one other girl, An or something, she'd even tried to clean him. Kind of funny. But also weird. "An I could move still with one leg."

Kaze Taco
"True," mused Lorelei as she flopped into the grass again, "But it'd be rather hard to run and jump... and to secretly attack people when they aren't suspecting you."

She sat up suddenly and tilted her head, "I have a craving for shepard's pie..."

Sanrio-Chan
Ronin clinged tighter to Mig after she kissed him on the cheek. Yep, just like mommy. He liked this older girl. And the Lorelei girl, though she dropped his grass. But there was plenty more of it around for him to get when he was ready to be back on the ground.

He then noticed the mean boy cut into his leg. Ronin made a disgusted sound. "Owie?" He asked pointing over Mig's shoulder at Jack.

Rayne Winner
Yuki gave a bit of a wince from where he was standing, how could the kid especially one that young stand to do something like that? Surely it was painful? Then again... he was doing it right he noticed. He was bleeding the gross stuff out of the wound to make the blood flow to cleanse the wound. He bit his lip before taking a step closer to the boy though made sure to stay at what he hoped was a distance that would keep him clear of the knife, "Do you need any help with that?" He asked from Jack, motioning to the wound. He was glad he'd carried his bag along with him it had his potions in it were they needed.

Jeanemon
Lorelei had gotten a lot crazier than Mig remembered. Interesting. That was worth remembering. "As long as you don't sneek attack me, Lorelai."

"Yes, owwie." She said, watching Jack with a somewhat fascinated look on her face. "You've got a high tolerance for pain, Jack." She said, slightly smiling at him.

Dulcea
Jack shrugged at Lore's comment, "But they're not skerred that way." He pushed the knife further, wincing only when he hit an undamaged nerve. Then he heard the voice of the girly boy he'd met earlier. Frowning, he stopped for a moment at looked up at him, "What'ken you do?" Intrigued by this one, he barely noticed Mig's comment. He didn't really have a problem with pain.

Kaze Taco
"I guess so..." Lorelei tilted her head, "I never really thought about it, to be honest."

She waved to Yukito and then looked back at Jack, "Yukito has these cool potions that can heal you right up."

Rayne Winner
Yukito motioned to his bag which was sitting off out of the way, "I have potions in there that I mixed up, it will heal the wound over for you." He said, he'd tested them all himself so he knew that they worked and did the job of healing that they were supposed to do.

Dulcea
"Potions?" He asked curiously, now becoming even more skeptical. Grandma did stuff like that, and she usually ended up blowing stuff up. He didn't want some girly kid blowing his leg up. "Eh.. Fine," he agreed, only slightly frowning, "You better know what yer doin," he added with an undertone of a threat, straightening his leg out. He lifted his knife up to his mouth, licking the blood off before jamming it back into his sheath. Knowing that most people thought that was weird, he explained, "Keep it from rustin."

Sanrio-Chan
So the Jack kid told Ronin he couldn't eat grass and here he goes eatin licking the blood off his knife. Either way he was ingesting it. Gross. "Ewww..." Ronin cringed.

Yuki seemed to catch the boy's attention. Ronin remembered him from a bit earlier. He seemed really sweet. Maybe he had candies in his bag.

Rayne Winner
Yukito got up and walked over to the bag, catching hold of the strap he carried it over and knelt down next to Jack, "If you don't trust me I can show you how it works on me first but I assure you they are all quite safe." He dug into his bag to get one of them out that was red in color and sat inside of a short, fat, and roundish shaped bottle. He popped the cork and the strong scent of herbs came forth from it.

Kaze Taco
"I smell herbs!" perking up, Lorelei tried to run over to Yukito but fell flat on her face. Wincing, she rolled over onto her back and sat up.

"Huh? Is that a duck egg?" Crawling onto her belly, the girl snuck into the bushes. After a few moments of the bushes wiggling suspiciously, Lorelei popped out holding an egg.

"TA-DAH! He is my baby and I will name him Maryanne," she said as she held the egg to her cheek.

Dulcea
"Jus get it over with," Jack snapped, hiding his mild fear of this with aggression. This was dumb, he didn't have a problem with bleeding and it would heal either way. But this seemed to be the choice that would get some of them off his back. He could pick at it again later if there was anything left. He had heard the baby's response to his actions, but he wasn't too concerned. The kid was dumb.

Rayne Winner
Yukito looked over to Lore then gave a smile, "Your Maryanne is very pretty Lore." He complimented her on the egg before turning back to Jack, "There maybe be a tiny sting then it will feel cold while it heals your wound over." He described it so that the boy wasn't shocked when the potion went to work. He then turned the bottled so that the liquid slowly poured forth from the bottle, pausing to let it fizz sort of like with peroxide then poured more onto to let it wash away the first amount. Beneath the potion the wound was starting to be taken care of.

This caused Yuki to smile some, he was never happier then when his potions became useful for more then just filling his bag and being heavy.

Dulcea
Jack watched the fizzing intently, not entirely sure why it seemed so interesting. Well, maybe it was because it kind of looked like a chemical burn, like the kind he'd seen on those shows with Duncan, but it was having the opposite effect. He cracked a smile as the skin regenerated over the wound, glancing up at the girly boy to give him a bit of credit, "That's cool."

Kaze Taco
Lorelei stared at Jack's leg before tilting her head back up at Yukito.

"You did all that with HERBS? Maybe I shouldn't eat them... ..... no, I love my herb cooking too much."

Rayne Winner
"I am glad that I was able to help." He said to Jack before putting the cork back in the top of the bottle. There was still half a potion left that could be used for something later he thought as he looked into the bottle before replacing it. He then looked to Lore, "You can cook with herbs too?" He asked, how useful the plants were and for so many things.

Kaze Taco
"Oh, of course!" Lorelei looked at Yukito, a bit shocked that he didn't know.

She stood up and started to explain, "Herbs add such flavor! Like my favorite is basil, though my mother loves garlic... I like garlic too, but it makes your breath stink afterwards."

She kneeled back down towards Jack and whispered, "Does that really stop the rusting?"

Dulcea
Jack showed a sly smile when Lore leaned towards him, "Yeah, an it ain't half bad." His mouth was watering as they talked about cooking, but that wasn't out of the ordinary. He swallowed, turning back to Yukito, "So ken that stuff be used on anythin?"

Kaze Taco
Lorelei pursed her lips and paused, "I'll have to remember that."

Ilo dimmed a little bit, and bobbled around Lorelei's head.

"But yeah, cooking is great! I should try to cook something for you guys."

Rayne Winner
"Huh, I bet my brother Eros would know he does all the cooking I just eat it." He murmured thoughtfully, "What is Basil like?" It wasn't one he'd used before so maybe it was a cooking only herb

"Different potions for different things I have them sort of color coded." He said, "Some for wounds, some for colds, others for things like poison ivy, and so on." He was growing more versed in his potions the more books he ready on them, the more he experimented with them. Soon enough he was sure he would be able to make even better potions! Or at least he hoped so.

Dulcea
"Poison ivy?" he chimed, "S'that the itchy stuff?" He'd gotten that once, from chasing a rabbit through the woods. It sucked. He'd have to keep Yukito in mind the next time that happened. His attention shifted when she mentioned cooking, oh so simple. That would be interesting, except the only thing he could think of out here would be like barbeque, and there didn't seem to be one here. Maybe she didn't mean right then.

Kaze Taco
As if she read Jack's mind, Lorelei said, "I don't have anything to cook here, though. Besides, there are chefs here, aren't there...?"

She brightened up, "OH! They must have food supplies! Maybe they'll let me do some cooking back there!"

Dulcea
Jack yanked his knife back out, getting to his feet, "I could prolly catch a rabbit or somethin." Afterall they'd need fresh meat if she was going to cook, the chefs here probably only had like cakes and stuff, which were fine, but not good enough. The grass was tall enough that he'd be fine if he found a warren, and he had learned well enough to know to knock the thing out before he killed it.

Kaze Taco
"That's sweet, Jack, but I'm going to see what they have up there, okay? Wanna come with me and see if it meets your approval? Yukito, what would you like?"

Dulcea
He nodded, hesitating before he returned the knife to its sheath. "Fine, but I wanna taste the meat. It ain't any good if it ain't fresh." Unless of course it was jerky. That was alright. And it wasn't that bad if it was cooked then left for a few hours. But raw and old, not so good. It got tough, and besides, he liked meat rare.

Kaze Taco
Lorelei walked up to one of the chefs and talked to him for a bit before tilting her head.

"They have some steaks, Jack... but they don't seem to keen on letting me cook for them..." she wrinkled her nose, trying to think of some way to convince them.

Dulcea
Jack frowned, then cracked a smile, "I'll get rid of em," he told her, turning his attention to the few chefs. They didn't really seem that tough, and anyway, they weren't going to hurt a kid. He slid his knife out, taking his hat off with his other hand. He dug a jingly weighted ball about the size of a golf ball out of his secret pocket, balanced it carefully in his knife hand, and replaced his hat. "Watch this," he told her, then chucked the ball toward the chefs' tables, knocking over an expensive looking punch bowl. That drew most of the attention, and then he turned to Lore, "Could you cook it somer' else, like on a fire? Cause I dunno if I can get em to stay away."

Kaze Taco
"If you help me build one, I could try!" nodded Lore, oblivious to the broken punch bowl, "You said you liked yours rare, right?" Lorelei waded through the various supplies the men had and took a filet mignon (the BEST cut), and a few pans.

"I already have some herbs with me... you want anything with this?"

Dulcea
He glanced over at the cut, brandishing his knife at the few people that had noticed their intrusion, "Some milk?" It was better than some of the sugary stuff, and it was always a good thing with meat. He kept close to her, now snarling low at the person that was yelling at them. He seemed to be the head chef, but he didn't really care.

Kaze Taco
"I'll see if there's some around here..." Lorelei glanced at the head chef before smiling, "Oh! Don't worry, we'll return everything in tip-top shape~"

She rummaged, obviously care-free. Finally she managed to find a bottle of milk, and a small package of some odd-looking... crumbs?

"Okay, Jack, let's find a place to cook this."

Dulcea
"Yep," he agreed, lunging slightly forward at the head chef to make him take a few steps back. He took her arm roughly, though he hadn't intended to hurt her, and guided her toward the playground. "Sand keeps fire from goin everywhere," he explained, despite the fact that sand and food weren't too good together. "Can be somewhere else though."

Kaze Taco
Lorelei did her best to hold onto the ingredients, and nodded when she stepped onto the sandy surface. She grumbled a bit to herself before setting the ingredients on the sandy surface (in the pan, of course). She pulled off her stola and put the ingredients back in it before wiping her forehead with the back of her hand. She was wearing an undershirt, of course, as well as her jeans.

"Okay, let's get this fire started."

Dulcea
Jack nodded, stepping out of the sandbox to snap two dry boughs off of a nearby tree. They were fairly thick, and he soon snapped the other smaller branches off of the boughs. He piled them together in the sand, digging a little rut around them with his finger. He took his hat off and crouched down beside the pile, rummaging through until he found an old metal lighter. "Took it from Ramiro," he told her, flicking it a few times before he managed to light it. The flame creeped up the branches, smoking a fair bit from the green buds. He blew on it cautiously, then showed her a grin, through the small bit of soot on his face, "That good?"

Kaze Taco
Lorelei reached forward with an edge from her fallen stola and wiped some of the soot from his face.

"Just so you can see better," she stuck her tongue out before setting the pan over the fire and laying the meat down inside it.

"This is going to be great, thank you."

Dulcea
Jack flushed red when she wiped his face, then looked down at his feet, "Ain't no reason to thank me, yer the one cookin." He drew a little pattern in the sand with the edge of his knife, not sure why this girl didn't piss him off. Even Kilah pissed him off more than this, and she was awesome. Maybe it was the food. Probably, food made everyone seem better.

Kaze Taco
Lorelei smiled as she tended to the steak, poking it every now and then. She didn't want it to be overcooked... or undercooked.

"Say, can I put something on the corner of the steak for you to try? If you like it, I can put it on the rest of your steak."

Dulcea
"Eh?" he asked, not really sure what you would put on steak other than sauce. Maybe it was some kind of sauce then. "Sure," he answered, reaching to poke at the steak. The fire didn't scare him, and he wanted to see how raw it still was. Then again, she probably wouldn't have liked him sticking his hand in stuff, so he drew it back.

Kaze Taco
Lorelei smiled, "I hope you like it, it's one of my mom's favorite things to put on a steak.

She pulled the steak out of the fire and cut into it with a knife, letting the juice sizzle onto the pan. She pulled the cut apart a bit so Jack could peer inside.

"Is it too rare for you?" she asked.

Dulcea
Too rare, that was a laugh. He peered at the pinkish interior of the cut, shaking his head when he started to feel saliva sliding over his tongue. "Nu-uh," he said, resisting the urge to just snatch the meat. She was doing something nice for him, and like Tangie had told him, nice things deserved some manners. Even if it was a pain in the butt.

Kaze Taco
"Excellent!" grinning, Lorelei put the steak on a plate and with a flourish, cut the steak into a 3/4 1/4 cut.

"I'm not all that hungry," said Lorelei as she offered him the bigger piece, "But, oh! I almost forgot!"

Lorelei took out that little bag from before and sprinkled some white crumbles on the corner of his steak before topping her entire piece with it.

"They're called bleu cheese crumbles."

Dulcea
Cheese, interesting. He frowned, and opened his mouth to protest, but closed it quickly. So far Lore had been right about a lot of things, so it was worth a try. He yanked his knife out of the sheath, balancing the plate on his knees as he sliced off the part with the crumbles. "Um... Thanks," he told her, popping the cheesy piece into his mouth. Wow, that was pretty good. He nodded, "Tasty."

Kaze Taco
Lorelei brightened up, the dazedness fading from her smile.

"I'm really glad you like my cooking! Do you want more of the cheese or would you like to eat your steak the way it is?"

She reached over and pulled out two cups and a jug of milk. Gingerly, she poured some in a glass for Jack and handed it to him.

Dulcea
Jack took the glass with a smile, setting his knife down in the grass, "Thanks." That was an odd word for him, but she'd earned some respect. Maybe she couldn't beat him in a fight, not that he wanted to start one right now, but she was an alright person. Not sucky like some of the other people he'd met so far. Hm, did he want more cheese. He glanced down at the juicy slab and thought for a moment, then nodded, "Yeah."

Kaze Taco
"Okay," Lorelei smiled dazedly as she handed him the bag, "Put on all you want, I've already put some on my piece."

She cut into her steak, looking polite as she ate. She wasn't trying to be, though. As a chef, however, she simply wanted to savor every taste of the steak on her tongue.

"Ahh, I'm getting better at cooking!" she gleefully announced.

Dulcea
Jack nodded, greedily pouring the rest of it onto his piece. Forgetting the manners he'd been forcing himself to show he mushed the cheese flat on it with his hand, which he then proceeded to lick. "S'better than my Aunt's," he told her, with no one particular aunt in mind. Naomi never cooked, the takeout menu was her kitchen, and Ul always got so distracted that whatever she cooked without help was burned. He picked the rest of his snack up, starting to tear into it with his sharper teeth as he ignored the juice dribbling out and down his face.

Kaze Taco
"I'm so glad you like it! Wow, better than home cooking..." she beamed, "That's the best compliment I've ever gotten! And it looks like you're enjoying it..."

Lorelei thought about it for a moment, then shrugged, "As long as it's washable. That's what my mom always taught me. It's fine to get dirty, as long as your clothes are washable."

Dulcea
Jack shrugged, "I'dun care bout washin stuff." Truth be told, the only time his red jacket had seen the wash was when An had done it. Aside from that, it had been worn filthy until it had been deemed a biohazard by Naomi and dumped in the trash. And now most of the stuff he wore was black, so the stains didn't really show, though sometimes they got kind of crunchy.

Kaze Taco
Lorelei nodded as she continued to eat, "Well, there's got to be a way to make it fun, then. Because if clothes get TOO dirty they get all stiff, and if they get all stiff you can't move very well."

She shrugged, "There are other things to worry about, though... like how are we going to put out that fire? Do you have any idea, Jack?"

Dulcea
Jack turned his attention to the fire and frowned, "I was just gonna leave it." But it'd probably be bad if he burned the park down after having fun here. Hm. Trying his first idea, he spit on it, but the fizzle it caused wasn't anywhere near enough. "Some sand'd prolly put it out," he suggested, remembering that from something he'd seen on TV.

Kaze Taco
Lorelei walked near the sand, put as much sand as she could in her hands, and tossed it on the fire.

"Yes, in ancient times people used ashes and sand to put out fire," Lorelei smiled sheepishly, "I read about it..."

She continued to do this until the smoke was stifled, and barely a wisp.

"There we go, there won't be any accidents now. We'd better take the plates and stuff back to the chefs..."

Lorelei looked back at the set-up, "Well, I could actually just do it myself if you wanted."

Dulcea
Jack wiped his knife off on the grass and then tucked it back into its sheath, shaking his head when she offered to take it all back. Trying to mask the kind gesture he said, "You'll drop it," then stacked everything up so he could carry it all together. He wasn't used to being nice to someone, so lack of confidence in them was a good cover. His face was a bit red, but that could have easily been mistaken for sunburn. Balancing his load carefully he got to his feet and took a few steps toward the chefs before stopping. "You gonna come?" he asked, sounding a bit hopeful.

Kaze Taco
"Yes," Lorelei nodded, "I want to thank the chefs for their kindness."

The angry faces in the distance didn't look so kind, but to Lorelei pretty much everything was happiness and butterflies-- even Akilah.

"I hope you enjoyed the meal," said Lorelei, "To be honest, I'm more used to cooking desserts and breakfast foods... like bacon and stuff."

She rubbed the back of her head, "So I'm really glad this turned out okay! Who knows, maybe someday I'll go to a culinary school."

Dulcea
Jack nodded, stumbling a bit as one of the plates slid on his greasy hands. He managed to catch himself, but swore under his breath as he stomped on a rock. He wasn't really much of a talker, but since she seemed to like it, he'd try. "I can't tell between em," he admitted. Food was food. "Cul-nary school sounds cool."

Kaze Taco
"Oh, it'll be great! My favorite one is in Greece... I just need to practice and practice! If I get accepted, I'll be able to cook better food. Which means, for you..."

Lorelei grinned darkly before pointing epically at the sky, "RARER (and yet safer) MEAT!"

She smiled at the chefs and did a little curtsy, "Thank you for your--" As she curtsied, Lorelei got mixed up in her ducky feet and fell on her butt.

".... Kindness..."

Dulcea
Jack lugged the dishes up onto one of the freestanding counters as Lore thanked the cooks, though his mind was a bit stumped. Wasn't Greece really far from here? That'd kind of suck. She was one of the few people he'd met that didn't piss him off. Why would she want to go that far away? He turned around just as she fell on her butt, and since he hadn't seen that she had simply tripped, he growled and ran to stand between her and the chefs. "Back off," he shouted, not realizing he was making a fool of himself.

Kaze Taco
"Aw, don't worry about me, Jack," smiled Lorelei as she wobbily stood up, "I'm just clutzy. Don't make a massacre out of the men in white coats, okay?"

Jack was a sweet kid. A bit violent, but Lorelei felt as though she was getting a bit more violent herself. That wasn't normal... oh, well. It didn't really matter. She had good friends, and he was so sweet and protective. Ah, too bad he was a toddler.

Dulcea
Reluctantly, Jack stood down, turning one last angry glance to the chefs. He reached toward Lore and took hold of her wrist, tugging gently in the direction of the sandbox. "I got somethin for ya," he explained, "Found it earlier." He'd just happened to have left it back there, buried in the sand for sakekeeping.

Kaze Taco
Lorelei followed the boy, blinking.

"You do? You really didn't need to, you know. I mean... uhh..." She didn't know what to say, really. A part of her was afraid that it was a squirrel carcass, but she had a feeling that Jack wouldn't be that twisted.

.... ...... Okay, so she was a bit afraid.

Dulcea
"Just come on," Jack ordered, his grasp sliding down to her hand, "S'not somethin bad." From most people that would have been reassuring, but it wasn't much coming from Jack. Once they got to the sandbox he let go of her and climbed into the rubble of their fire. It was somewhere around here. "Hold on," he told her, digging through the sand until he found the cool object he was looking for, "Got it."

Kaze Taco
Lorelei waited outside the sandbox patiently, trying to peer around the boy to see what it was. She tilted her head to one side, then the other. Why she trusted this boy, who was so vicious, she didn't know.

Then she smiled. It was because he was nice to her... and his eyes were youthful and innocent-- despite his sometimes demonic attitude. Plus, his protectiveness was really cute, even if it was because she cooked food for him.

Dulcea
Jack yanked himself back out of the sandbox, holding one hand behind his back. "Found this an it looks kin'a like you," he told her, then paused. What if she didn't like it? Well, no, fine. It was too late to pretend it was nothing. He pulled his hand out from behind his back revealing a pretty, if a bit scuffed, egg.

Kaze Taco
"Ohhh! This egg is so beautiful!" Lorelei blushed, "I'm really happy that you think it's like me..."

She gingerly took it in her hands, "I'll take good care of it, I promise. Thank you, Jack."

With a dazed, happy smile on her face-- Lorelei leaned forward and kissed the toddler on the cheek.

Dulcea
Jack froze, turning bright red. That was. His hands clenched up into little fists, but for a reason he couldn't discern. Feeling like he should return the gesture, he grabbed her by the wrist and pulled her hard towards him, planting a forceful kiss on her forehead. Alright, so maybe that wasn't anywhere near as sweet as what she had done, but it seemed like the right thing to do. At least to him.

Kaze Taco
Though it was forceful, though he had grabbed her wrist, and though he was only a toddler-- it was still Lorelei's first kiss, and it made her blush harder than before. Stumbling over her words and stuttering, Lorelei soon let the dazed confusion come back over her face, and she smiled.

"Thank you!"

Dulcea
Jack stared at her for a moment, then turned red again. This time, instead of kissing her he started to take steps back. He wasn't sure what he was supposed to do. People were usually yelling at him by now. But she, she was just being nice. When he was about four feet away from her he turned and took off at a dead run, not sure where he was going except that it was away from here.

Kaze Taco
"H-Hey! Wait! I'm sorry if I did something wrong!" Lorelei stood up and tried to run after him in the sand, but instead she fell flat on her face (luckily the egg was unharmed).

"Owwwieee..." Lorelei pushed herself back up, Jack now a speck.

"Well... I'll see him again anyway," she smiled.

Here comes trouble. And there he goes. Jack is being sent to a sort of trinket store where the items inside are comprised entirely of bones, human and animal. There he must pick five things he likes best and put them somewhere around his house.

Jack had managed to slip away from Duncan at the downtown library, using the usual trick of a bathroom trip. He didn't honestly believe that the older boy still fell for it so much as he didn't care to question. With his backpack slung over his shoulder he slid down the stairway railing and made his way out the door. It was a smog alert day, and the air felt heavy in the city, made worse by the traffic flooding the streets. There was something going on in the arts district, and despite not liking people much, he was interested. The toddler pushed his way through the crowd, finding himself in the midst of an open market, bustling with various forms of contemporary and antique art. He quickly dodged a massive sculpted hand, though his interest stayed on it as it was carted of. Some of this stuff was really cool, he decided, but none of it seemed practical. Where were the dishes? The knives? Where was the furniture? He walked along the sidewalk, stopping occasionally to examine some trinket. One thing in particular caught his eye, set apart from the bustle of the outside. In the window of an old shop stood a figurine of a fierce snarling coyote, giving off a strange pallor. It didn't look like any material he had ever seen.

"You like her," a silky voice asked from just inside the doorway, catching him off guard. "No, it's stupid," he snapped, crossing his arms over his chest. "Her name is Mirella. She used to guard my family. Now her bones guard this shop," the voice continued, as if its owner hadn't heard him. An old woman in Peruvian dress stepped out into the light of the street, holding her knit shawl tight around her shoulders. "Would you like to see more?" she asked softly, gesturing inside. Jack hesitated, placing his hand on his knife as he glanced back at the statue. There was something about it that gave him a thrill, and frankly he liked it. "Yes. Please," he told her, having to force the words from his mouth. She had already gone inside, leaving the door open for him to follow. The interior of the shop was lit by a tinted amber lamp, strung above a row of hides. Some he could still recognize. A deer here, a brown bear there. But some belonged to animals he had never seen before, and stripped from their forms he couldn't so much as make a guess. The shelf along three sides of the room held more figurines like the one in the window, but almost some objects of a more sinister nature. The woman now sat behind the counter, plying intently at a knot of some exotic fiber.

Jack was entranced by the place. At first notice it smelled almost like a fresh kills, but a peculiar undertone made the statement that time had long since passed since the animals had walked the Earth. He felt a compulsion to touch nearly everything he passed, feeling the different textures. Some seemed to be bone like the woman had mentioned, but others felt more like stone. One thing caught his attention out of a crowded shelf, a necklace that seemed to be wrought from the bones of a large creature, a horse or some sort of bison. He ran his fingers over the worn surface, feeling an excited shiver rise up his spine. He could also see the last days of the beast. It couldn't have been very old, the bone was still dense, but perhaps it had been cornered by some vicious predator. Jack took a moment to swallow the saliva that had pooled in his mouth, then searched for the price tag on the item. It had been marked at fifteen dollars, but Jack considered it priceless, which to him meant that it must therefore, become his by any immediate means. Seeing that the woman had dozed off he stuffed the trinket into his jacket, tucking it safely in the inner pocket. This too gave him a thrill, and he wanted more.

Another section of the shelf held what appeared to be tools, carved in some form or another. From this he lifted a sharp knife, seemingly tipped in a shaped black resin. It was strange; it almost looked like the handle would be sharper than the blade. He turned it over in his hands. He looked back to see if she had woken up, but she still sat in her chair with her head slumped over. Feeling a sort of high from his newly acquired possessions he continued to explore the place, nearly missing something wonderful.

Hanging on the wall beneath a large set of buck horns was a dingy colored mask, roughly the size of a child's face. Forgetting his need to be subtle he lifted the ornament down and held it to his face, inhaling its scent deep. It wasn't like anything else he had seen here, a wonder shaped delicately to cover a child's face as if for a morbid masquerade. Despite its beauty the piece had an almost revolting quality, which excited Jack all the more. It had to be his. He wasn't sure what it was about it that was different from the rest, but had he known he would have fawned over it. It was carved from the skull of an unidentified murder victim as a ceremonial relic. Gruesome to some cultures surely, but not unheard of. Jack wasn't interested in the history of the piece however, but rather in finding a way to fit it into his jacket such that it would be unnoticeable. Eventually he found one, securing it in place beside his boar knife.

There was a wealth of other things on the higher shelves, and Jack began to use an overturned crate to get a better look. There was a little ball joint doll, and in a moment of clarity he decided that Tangia would like it. He scaled the shelves, unwittingly making enough noise to wake the woman from her slumber. "Get down from there!" she shouted as she attempted to pull herself out of her chair. Jack nearly fell, grabbing a pair of old dice as he jumped down from the crate. She was mumbling obscenities as she made her way around the counter, but by the time she was steady Jack had already torn out of the store. His heart was beating in his ears as he ran full speed down the road, a tingling sensation emanating from the things that weighted down his coat. Hopefully Duncan would be waiting for him.

Jack's growing up! Well, that's no surprise, everyone does eventually. But in order to take that final leap and become a full Kid. So what will he need to do? It's quite simple! Well, okay, it's a bit complicated, but here we go: Jack will need to help out in a hospital! Yes, a hospital. You know, that place where sick people go? Anyway, while he's helping out, he'll need to locate eight things: A bell, two pairs of socks, a pair of brown boots, a gold fork, a green scarf, two animals, and a spear.

"Come on brat, you earned this," Duncan argued, tugging on Jack's hand. The toddler dragged along behind him, groaning in frustration. He had been ordered to work with a children's community service program for the stunt he had pulled on the artist's block, and out of the many available hellholes the hospital had seemed the most likely to yield gore. He was supposed to report to Miss Tiffany in pediatrics, supposedly the woman in charge of the whole thing. It was supposed to be an experiment in animal therapy for terminal patients, and it was turning out to not be near as exciting as it had seemed. His first duty was to meet the animals he would be working with. There were two cats, which Miss Tiffany had said were best suited for him, but they still sort of looked like furry rats. Elliot and Duke were their names, fairly young brother toms that seemed more interested in playing than working. Miss Tiffany was babbling on about something by the time they arrived, and Duncan quickly slipped back out the door. After all, this was Jack's punishment, not his. The toddler grumbled in the corner as he held onto the thin leashes attached to Elliot and Duke, his expression mimicking that of the brothers. Finally they were released and Jack hurried out into the hallway to find his assigned patients.

The first one the list was a Mrs. Madison, who was one of those grouchy rich women who didn't seem to realize she wasn't still in charge. Someone sick in the head had given her a bell, and after only ten minutes or ringing and shrieking Jack had snatched it from her, leaving her in silence as he stuffed it into his pocket. "You're mean," he told her boldly, attempting to lift Duke up into her lap. Elliot had already retreated beneath the bed, having hissed the moment they walked into the room. When their allotted hour was over and a good bit of scratches had been received by both parties Jack grabbed the two cats up under his arms, mumbling to them as he continued down the route, "Too much stupid."

The next scheduled patient was a much kindlier looking woman, the sort of grandmother type that made every room warmer with her smile. Her name was Alice Woods, a widower who had been admitted under hospice conditions for lung cancer. The cats seemed to like her, jumping eagerly into her lap with a loud purr. Jack cleaned the room up in silence, though Mrs. Alice had started telling him stories the second he walked in. He worked slowly there, finding her more appealing than the last. Nearly two hours past and he was just about to leave when she called him back, offering him a bundled package. "Your clothes are all ruined," she said, "Here, I've been making things since I got here. They might as well be put to some use." He looked at her suspiciously, snatching the package from her hands as he left. Once he was back in the hall he unwrapped the brown paper, finding two pairs of socks and a hand knit scarf inside ( x x x ). A smile came over his face, but he quickly shirked it off, tugging the cats down the hall. Duke yowled loudly, expressing Jack's own feelings. It was lunchtime.

Across the hall from his next patient was a man in a private suite, who, from the smell of the room, had just received his catered lunch. Jack slipped in quietly, leaving the cats tied to a metal chair in the hall. The man was sleeping, and it only took a bit of arranging to get to his meal tray. It looked better than the stuff the hospital cafeteria was serving, even if it was decorated like some fufu restaurant. He pocketed the man's roll and stuffed half the steak into his mouth, grabbing the utensils in case he got another chance later. Among them was a somewhat ridiculous golden fork.

Hearing someone in the hall he retreated, scooping up the sleeping Elliot. Duke whined at his side as they hurried down a side corridor, narrowly dodging one of the man's relatives. Soon the nearby nursing staff was busy attempting to calm the man, who was accusing them of robbery and nearly giving himself a heart attack. Jack snickered, checking the list of room numbers Miss Tiffany had given him earlier. There was only one patient left, and then he was free.

Unfortunately the last patient wouldn't be near as quick and simple as he had thought. The last person on the list was an old war veteran, suffering from the early stages of dementia. His family had adorned his room with relics from his service, some of which greatly interested the morbid toddler. He ran his hands over the point of a light spear. "You like that?" the man asked from his bed, digging rocks out of the bottom of a pair of work boots, "You ken take anything you want. I ain't going to need it soon. C'mere, lemme see them cuts." Jack ran his hand over his face and arms, feeling the latest superficial scratches he had gotten from the cats. "Anything?" he asked firmly, standing beside the man's bed. Duke and Elliot paced on the blankets, finally curling up about the man's feet. "Yep," the man said, "I'ma be dead soon." Jack shrugged, reaching for the spear and a few medals, "Least you won't have to deal with the nurses." The man laughed, coughing roughly, "That's some idea kid. I'm Jack Kennie, general of the u-nited army for darn near fifteen years." Jack perked up, offering the man his hand in tentative friendship, "My name's Jack too." The man laughed again, offering him the boots to put on the ground, "Well I got some stories to tell you Little Jack."
