Ability Quest!

Lyrus has had much interaction by this point, and something in him seems just aching to get out. But before that, the boy must find ten things made of glass. They can be of any size or shape, but they must be completely made of glass.

"Hmm..."

Banda frowned down at the note in his hand. A note written in scraggly ink blots and signed with a bold 'Chaco'. of all the times it could have come. Of course, Moo had been gone for a while, so this wasn't all unexpected. But all the same.

Sighing, he looked up and fixed a smile on his face, staring patiently at the wall for a moment before turning down to the Sin'aeis seated on the floor. "Well, your quest is here."

Ignoring the baby's cheer of understanding, Banda sunk into a chair and quickly reread the note. Ten glass items. Honestly, who in their right mind would tell a baby to find glass? Let alone Lyrus, who might break everything afterwards just for the fun of it. And where were they supposed to find said items? Moo didn't keep a lot of glass around due to the multitude of pets. And they couldn't buy anything, because Banda was all but broke and couldn't access Moo's bank account.

This posed a problem.

"I think," Banda began, silencing the infant's babbles with a wave. "We're going to have to wait. I dunno how we're going to get all this stuff, Lyr. I only have what gold Moo left us to buy food, and that's running thin 'cause she's been gone for so long. Don't have much for glass trinkets and such. Especially if you're just going to throw them at a wall afterwards," he added under his breath.

Lyrus, meanwhile, wasn't quite sure he had heard correctly. He had gotten a quest? Like Kilah and Mignon? Well then let's go, get on with it! The sooner they did this quest, the sooner he could do another and be big like his friends!

But...Banda said they would have to wait? He didn't want to wait! He had waited long enough already! He FINALLY had his quest, and he was going to do it NOW! The infant fumed, glaring up at his 'big brother'. "Thoop ded! Kii Ngny bi'lee! Sss bi'lee aa Kii! Ba'a thoop ded! Bi'lee aaa Kii! Nooooo daa Ba'a bi'lee, thoop ded. Ba Ba'a!"

"Alright, ALRIGHT," Banda shouted over the baby's continued rant. When Lyrus didn't stop, the SM bent and lifted the baby onto his lap, clamping a hand over the Sin'aeis' mouth. "Stop bleating, sheep boy. If you can find the gold, we'll go do the quest. How's that?"

This shut Lyrus up immediately. For a moment, he glowered over the hand at Banda, dark eyes glinting with irritation. But, in an abrupt change of mood, he smiled and shoved the hand away, nodding cheerfully. "Ba'a bi'lee aa Ssss. Ohd. Hmm." The baby frowned, tapping his chin as he had seen Banda do when he was thinking. Where to get gold?

Well, let's see. Lyrus didn't know many people with money. No one he would be willing to ask, anyway. He wasn't a begger. So, that left the family. Moo and Acia were gone, as was Scion. Kama didn't like him, Banda was broke, or they wouldn't be in this mess. Jax, Adroi, and Coen wouldn't have anything... But there were others...

And then it clicked. Lyrus ran a hand thoughtfully over his head, then turned his eyes to Banda and pointed to his arm. "Kink!"

"Kink?" Banda blinked, then raised a brow and shook his head. "Arm."

Facepalm. Adults were so stupid. "Thoop ded," Lyrus mumbled, just to prove a point. Then, shaking his head, he tried again, tapping said arm for emphasis. "Kink. Hisss tooo!"

"It's an arm, shortie."

"Ba'a thoop ded. Hiss too!"

"Arm. Not kink, not toe. These are toes."

But before Banda could point them out, Lyrus was on the move again. Stupid guardians. The Sin'aeis scrambled up, literally climbing on top of Banda in an effort to reach his head, and earning a variety of complaints from the SM. Ignoring them, he squirmed up to sit wedged between Banda's back and the chair. Then, reaching up, he clenched both fists in the SM's hair and tugged it towards the center of his head. "Hisssss tooo!"

"Owowow leggo!"

"Hiss tooo!"

"Who's toe?"

"Thoop ded. Hiss too! Kink kank!"

The Sm finally managed to pull his hair free and reached up to untie it from the giant mohawk-ish knot Lyrus had been twisting it in. He paused, blinking, and patted the tangled mass thoughtfully, speaking more to himself than to the Sin'aeis. "Clink clank. Isto."

"Daa!" Lyrus squealed, effectively snapping Banda back to reality. The infant toppled down to fall sprawled across the SM's lap, grinning proudly up at his guardian. "Kink kank! Hisstooo!"

Banda stared thoughtfully down at the infant, mind elsewhere. Finally, grinning, he nodded and jumped to his feet, catching Lyrus before he could fall. "Isto has gold! Enough to spare for his little brother's quest, anyway. Heck, I haven't seen him in a while. Maybe he'll come questing with us!"

Lyrus approved, and Banda started for the kitchen, carrying the infant tucked under one arm. With his free hand, he snatched up the phone and quickly dialed, waiting impatiently through the rings and brightening when a voice answered. "Hey, Isto? It's Banda..."

"When you said 'ten glass items', Banda, I thought you meant little trinkets. Look at all this stuff!" Grimacing, Isto gestured to the pile of glass items set in the middle of the living room. He sighed and stepped over to the assorted glassware, beginning to sort through the items. "Look at this. A lamp, a table--I don't even know what this is. How much did all this cost?"

"Too much," Banda replied cheerfully, smile fading at the glare Isto shot him. The artist shrugged apologetically and shifted Lyrus on his hip. "Well, he's very persuasive..." Lyrus smirked. Banda continued. "We'll fix up his room with it. He doesn't have much in there, and I bet we could make it look real nice before Moo gets home."

Isto shook his head in disbelief, absently running a hand through his 'hawk. "You're giving a baby thousands of gold worth of glass... Do you have a death wish?"

"Lyrus is very responsible," Banda assured him, to which the infant in question puffed up poudly, fully aware that he was being praised. "Besides," Banda continued, "he thinks they're pretty, and Lyrus never breaks pretty things."

Pausing, he glanced from the pile of glass to Lyrus, then stepped over to Isto and deposited the infant in his arms, speaking to cut off the other fifther's protest. "I'm going to arrange all this in his room. I don't want him--or you--in my way. Take him to the Sin'aeis place."

Scooping up a handful of items, he started for the stairs, but paused at the bottom. "And don't you dare take that motorcycle. He's too young." And he was gone upstairs.

Isto frowned after him, then glanced down to Lyrus with a sigh, mumbling something about needing to get home. He quirked a brow at his 'little brother' and, when Lyrus mimiced the gesture, grinned faintly. "Want to take the bike?"

Lyrus' face split in a grin, eyes glittering darkly. "Ba'a thoop ded. Vrooooom!"

"Quite right," Isto agreed, and started for the door.

Ability gained!

Lyrus seemed to greatly admire the glass objects he obtained, and now that has awakened the ability that once slept inside him. Now he can:

Make all glass objects appear beautiful.

"It's nice out!" Mignon said, bouncing lightly on one foot. Jeane, nose buried in a book, smiled down at her.

"Good to be out of the house, ya?" She asked, walking off the path into the garden.

And then...the calm day was ruined by a roar from down the street. The sound grew progressively louder as a motorcycle pulled into sight, then slowed to wheel up the drive, finally pausing near the mansion. Isto shut off the bike, then grimaced up at the building, still trying to figure out if he had the right place. Banda hadn't exactly given him the best directions.

Lyrus, however, recognized the place perfectly. The infant was tucked behind his 'big brother' on a make-shift babyseat. It was safe enough. Isto liked his bike too much to drive anything else. Not that Lyrus cared in the least. This was SO COOL. He would have to get Isto to visit more often.

"Daabluruft," he announced, patting Isto on the back and jabbing a finger towards the back of the house where the garden was. Isto raised a brow and followed his point, then climbed off the bike and freed Lyrus from the baby seat, scooping him up with his good arm and starting for the back. "Lead the way, shorty."

Jeane's ears perked up at the roar of a motorcycle. "Wonder who that is." She asked, looking up towards the house.

Mignon scrambled up, dusting her skirt off. "Someone to play with!" She cried, running around the house towards the noise. "It's Lyrus!" She squealed back to Jeane, "and some guy with green hair!" She clapped her hands happily. It had been a long time since she'd seen Lyrus!

Lyrus glanced up when he heard his name, dark eyes soon fixing on Mignon. He grinned and waved with one hand, jabbing Isto's arm with the other in an effort to make him walk faster. "Ngny!! Sss aa bi'lee!"

Jab. Jab. Jab. Isto batted the infant's hand away, but obligingly picked up the pace when he noticed Mignon. Well good! There was someone here who the shorty knew. They had found the right place after all.

"Lyrus! It's so good to see you!" She babbled, bridging the distance between herself and Isto. "Who are you, Mr. Green-pointy hair?" She asked, smiling up.

"Be nice." Jeane said, following the girl around the house. "Oh, hiya. You do have green hair. Nice." She smiled. "I'm Jeane, and this is my Mignon."

Lyrus babbled something that probably meant 'It's good to see you too', but really wasn't focused on his words...so it didn't make much sense. The infant was busy jabbing Isto into setting him down, then, once he did, trying to stand again. He had been practicing.

The SM quirked a brow at the little girl, but then flashed a grin, nodding slightly in greeting. "Mr. Green-pointy hair, that's a new one. I'm Isto and you are-" He paused and glanced up to Jeane, nodding once more in greeting. "Jeane and Mignon. Nice to meet you both. I'm Moo's son. Watching Lyrus for the day."

"AKIIILAAAHH!"

Ugh. She should've just had her stay a baby forever. Noyama liked babies much more then toddlers from what she knew about the two. Babies couldn't walk. Toddlers ran away. Babies couldn't talk. Toddlers never stopped talking. "AKILAH,GIVE IT BACK!"

"NO!" The toddler yelled, squirming out of her grasp and bolting down the road. Luckily she'd been down this route enough times to know the way with or without sight, and the fact she didn't trip over a thing was just sheer luck.

Jeane sighed and checked her watch. "Sorry, luv, but we've got to get home. Maybe Dhee'll bring you up next week."

"Nooo!" Mignon howled, waving her fists in the air. Jeane grabbed the girl and sighed, pinching Isto's cheek.

"Bye bye, cutie boys. Hope to see you again!" She walked down the lane, waving over her head.

Lyrus had just managed to get to his feet when Jeane announced they had to leave. Immediately he fell back to sit on the grass, frowning up at the woman, then sighed and waved after Mignon. "Baa, Ngny!!"

Whatever goodbye Isto had in mind was abruptly cut off when Jeane...pinched his cheek? He raised an eyebrow and watched her go, then rolled his eyes and dropped to sit on the grass beside Lyrus. "Women confuse me."

The object Kilah had taken from Noyama no one has to know about. At least, not yet. Just as she reached within view of the mansion and those around it,Noyama finally managed to get a good hold on her. Kicking her legs wildly,Kilah screamed and screeched loudly enough to be heard within miles.

Whatever she did have, the protector quickly snatched it away and shoved it in her pocket, dropping Kilah as she did so. The toddler stumbled forward, nearly falling on her face, but just barely she managed to keep her balance. "FINE!" Turning around, she stomped the remainder of the way, just hoping ANYONE would be there.

Even Aard. She could use a punching bag right now.

Lyrus pat his older brother's arm reassuringly, but didn't 'comment'. honestly, he wasn't paying much attention. He was busy looking around for something to do. Where WAS everybody!? ...And then he heard a shouted 'Fine', and saw a toddler stomping up out of the corner of his eye. Lyrus grinned and turned towards his friend, waving frantically even though she couldn't see. "Kii!! Sss aa bi'lee!!"

"Huh?" Oh,Lyrus was here. That was just as good. Better, even. She'd take ranting to one of her friends to giving Aard a black eye anyday. Both would be heaven for her, mind you. "Hi Lyrus!" Already she sounded more happy, even if she didn't look. Carefully, she walked over, and eventually came to sit down infront of him. "Still little, huh? How are you?"

"Taa.." Lyrus mumbled, smile fading slightly. She didn't have to point it out. He couldn't help it. And he had just done his ability quest, so he was getting closer! He shrugged and perked up slightly at her question. "Aa bi'lee! Hisstoo aa bi'lee oo Sss! Kii?"

How anyone could understand this, Isto wasn't sure. The metal SM just sat back to watch, eyeing both Sin'aeis curiously.

It was true she didn't get every word he said all the time, but Kilah listened best she could. And she did tend to understand most of the time. "Ability? You got yours?" Scratching her head, she tried to remember what hers was. It just came so naturally now,it didn't seem like any special skill. "Oh! Mine is...hearing quiet things. Like, they can't sneak up on me!"

Grinning playfully, she tilted her head and lifted a hand up to brush some stray hair from her face. It got annoying even if she couldn't see it infront of her eyes. "Really handy for playing hide and seek, you know!"

"Taa!" He replied, nodding proudly. Not that he had figured out what it was, but he had gotten one! ...He didn't feel any different, though. Oh well, it was there somewhere. He nodded understandingly when Kilah revealed her ability, but paused and glanced up at her with a final comment, tilting his head curious. "Ai seeet? Daa, Kii?"

Blind eyes so no expressions,of course, but his tone was more then enough. How could he not know what hide-and-seek was!? That...that was just WRONG! She could understand him never playing it being as he couldn't walk yet,but...not KNOWING about it? "You don't know about it,really? It's a game. I'll play it with you when you learn to walk. Somebody hides, and the other person finds them. It's fun!"

He shook his head, forgetting for the moment that she couldn't see. Nope, he hadn't heard of or played hide and seek. But it did sounds fun, from what Kilah had said. Once he could walk better, they would have to play. "Taa, Sss a Kii ai seeet." Kilah would win, though, he mused. She could hear him wherever he was. Sight was no advantage in that game.

She was well aware of such a thing. Being able to win no matter what wasn't any fun. For a moment she sat in silence, thinking of a way to make the game even. "I'll cover one ear!" The Sin'aeis girl decided out loud. Her toddler logic said that'd make the game plenty fair. "Right,so just learn to walk and then we'll play!"

Lyrus pondered over this for a bit, then nodded his agreement, smiling up at his friend. That would work! Or should. Close enough, anyway. But he had to learn to walk before they could play... Erk, walking was hard. He could stand up pretty well now, but if he tried to walk, he would usually fall over. Somehow, Lyrus didn't think that would be very helpful during a game of hide-and-seek. "Ssss naa waak.."

"Well,I know you can't walk NOW,but..oh,nevermind! We'll worry about when you big, okay? Gizmo!" She'd barely finished calling his name before the Griffon plowed through about seven bushes and possiblely a tree. In his beak was a book. The cover was bright red and aside from the scratches from being carried in such a way seemed brand knew. "I can read now! Wanna see? I read better then Flitch." Much, much better! Well...maybe? Okay, not really, but she was getting there...slowly. Freaky handed fish boy.

"Kay," Lyrus replied absently. He waved cheerfully in greeting to the griffon, but seemed more interested in the book, eyeing it suspiciously. Kilah could read? Banda and Moo had read to him before, but Lyrus couldn't do it. There were too many letters. It was confusing. At that, how could Kilah read? If she couldn't see...? Well, he's just have to wait and see. "Taa, eed Kii!"

"Uh,okay." Kilah was well aware Lyrus was curious about just how she could read. Her own siblings around her age had been the same way. One of them had even laughed at her. Hmph. She'd show them, though. Taking the book, she set it in her lap and open it. On the page were many, many black dots that looked...well,just like regular black dots to the untrained eye.

"See,this is uh..." Pausing, she lifted a hand to her head and rubbed it thoughtfully, nose wrinkling back. "Braille! Yeah, that's it! It's a special kind of writing made for people who can't see. See the bumps? That's what I read."

He watched silently as she opened the book, peering curiously down at the array of black dots covering the pages. Erk. That looked even harder to read than what Banda had been reading. Lyrus really couldn't see any organization in the dots, but, then, maybe he wasn't looking right. "Eh... Kii soo Sss?"

"Look!" Kilah's hand shuffled through the pages until she managed to find the right one. She knew which was which because of the rip in the corner. Pulling the sheet of paper out,she held it out to Lyrus for him to see. "See? I can write too!"

User Image

(Incase anyone can read that I'm aware there's mistakes. XD Remember she's a TODDLER.)

Then she set the paper down, and traced her fingers along the writing, though she didn't really seem to be reading it. "Moo and that guy have read to you before, right? What kind of stories do you like?"

Lyrus peered curiously down at the dots, trying to figure out what they could possibly mean. She wrote in the same confusing dots as the book had.. That made sense, but he still didn't see how she could tell them apart. A special kind of writing, then. And he wanted to learn too! ...But not yet. Maybe when he was older.

He clapped cheerfully in approval of the writing, absently considering her next question. Erm. True, Moo and Banda had read to him, but the stories really never made much sense. They were all rather stupid; nursery rhymes and fairytales and the like. Anything would be better than that. "Kii oose!"

"Hm,I hope this means whatever kind of book this is,because it's whatever I brought with me." Kilah wasn't really a fan of fairy tales either. Mainly because the land of sunshine, kittens and rainbows lost most of it's effect when you couldn't picture the unicorns prancing around in it. She was more for the history books, and on occasion had Lucky read her the newspaper. Tracing her fingers along the book, she began reading about ancient China and the great wall.

Of course, intelligent as she seemed she was a toddler. Her reading was so well because she had most of the book memorized, but she'd never admit that.

Well, this certainly didn't sound like a fairytale. It's was either a really good fake, or had actually happened. Lyrus guessed the later. But it sounded a bit too good to be true... Spending hundreds of years making peasants build some giant wall? Interesting... These emperor guys had it good, Lyrus decided. Maybe he'd find someone to build him a wall. ...not that he needed a wall, but that wasn't the point.

Eventually,Kilah's story suddenly twisted into something totally different. Something along the lines of: "And then there was a very smart girl named Kilah. And she had many bird minions. She also had two friends named Lyrus and Mignon, who she let into her "mafia" and they took the world over after they beat up Aard and Yukito and killed all their stupid flowers." Her favorite story, and she'd written it all by herself!

Ohh, Lyrus liked where this was going. Yes! First emperors and walls, then mafias--whatever they were--and taking over the world! He would SO have to do that some day. And then he would get all the stupid peasants--even though those were birds, as far as he knew--to build a big castle for him! With a wall! A big wall with spikes. Glass spikes, Lyrus decided. For decoration. Oh yes, that would be good...

After more detail about how Yukito and Aard were beat up,with even more emphasis on the flowers death,Kilah finished up and closed the book with a content look. Lyrus seemed to have liked it,and that was good. But her train of thought was interupted as a woman suddenly appeared before them.

Not just any woman, mind you. Her age was hard to place, but her eyes showed some wisdom. She seemed like an angel,just...not your average one. Her hair was black, not blonde. Her wings and dress were not white, but black as well. Still, her voice was as soothing as any other when she spoke. "Ah,Akilah, you've gotten so big!"

"Yeah,so? Where you been,anyway?"

As the story came to a close, Lyrus sighed contentedly, positively beaming up at Kilah. It was, without a doubt, the best story he had ever heard. And a very good story to live by, he decided. Beating up Yukitos and Aards and flowers...even though he liked flowers. Some flowers, anyway. Some had bees, and bees were bad.

...And there went his thoughts. Lyrus blinked curiously up at the woman, somehow annoyed by her appearance. She was talking to Akilah--not him--, and hadn't even said hello. This coupled with the fact that she had wings and a shiny ring thing around her head--NEITHER of which he had--just plain pissed him off. Sure, his horn was better than any old...floating glowy ring, but he didn't have wings, danging! "Thoop ded," he muttered, glowering up at the woman.

Hearing this, the angel seemed quite suprised. Carefully, she stepped back then kneeled down, still taller then them of course, but a bit more level. "Your friend can see me,I guess." Not everyone could see her. So far, only Kilah,Lucky and Yukito out of countless people she'd seen. As a baby, she'd been with Kilah quite often, but Noyama never seemed to notice her there.

Chuckling,Kilah shook her head. "No,no. Cindra good. She thinks Lyrus not see her."

"Oh." Lyrus blinked, eyeing the woman warily and considering this. So, not everyone could see her? ....How cool was that!? And he, Lyrus, could! Which meant he was great. So this person must be great too. He grinned cheerfully in apology, holding out a hand as he had seen adults do when they greeted people. "Sah'ee. Sss?"

Raising an eyebrow in an amused way,she chuckled light-heartedily and held her hand out, shaking his lightly. "Well, hello to you. You must be Lyrus,I guess?" She'd heard about all the babies appearence wise. Word has it Mignon had grown too. She'd have to go see her. "I'm Cindra,I watch Kilah. Keep her and her friends safe and such."

Nodding, Lyrus shook her hand, eyeing the angel curiously. She protected Kilah, hmm? And her friends, too? Lyrus was one of Kilah's best friends! Whee, lackey number one. Lyrus wondered if he could get her to build a wall. He had a feeling he could talk Banda into it, but Banda didn't seem strong enough to build a wall. Though, maybe... The infant grinned, glancing briefly over to Isto before returning his eyes to the woman. When they got home, Isto could build a wall. That would work.

It may or may not have been a good thing Kilah couldn't catch sight of that grin of his,or she may have realized what he was thinking. Had he been able to say anything she probably would've caught it in his tone, like she'd done with that weird boy with bunny ears before. Hmph. Why were boys so stupid? Except Lyrus, and that Lex kid who murdered flowers. Other then that though. "Lyrus still small,Cindra."

Lyrus was still plotting about his wall when he heard a 'still small' from Kilah. Him? Oh, yes, he was, wasn't he. Well...well....so!? That didn't matter. And it wasn't his fault. AND he had a cool ability--even if he didn't know what it was--, AND he was part of a mafia--Kilah had said so in the story--, AND he was going to make Isto build a wall. He would rule the world by the time he was a child.

Well, maybe Kilah would let him rule the world with her. She'd decided long ago when her mafia took over,Mignon and Lyrus would be important in some way or another. Lyrus would probably be ranked before her, though, simply because of the fact Mignon was too nice to everyone. Probably even Aard, and that thought just disgusted her.

As quickly as she appeared, the angel was gone, and Kilah didn't seem at all bothered. She was use to her randomly popping up whenever she pleased and leaving just the same. "Lyrus grow soon?"

Lyrus' plans for world domination were interupted by the sudden departure of the angel. He blinked, looking around for her, then shrugged it off and glanced back to Noya. The baby frowned, absently scratching his head. He had only just had his ability quest. And he still didn't know what his ability was. It would probably be a while before he grew... Sighing, Lyrus shook his head, then shrugged. "Uh'no.."

"Aw,don't think like that!" Positive Kilah was a rarity indeed. Then again, you might be negative if you had to bare her "condition" as it were so young, and knowing you'd always have it. Still, her voice was indeed supportive of the idea of Lyrus growing. "Mignon and me grow big after we get our powers. Can you walk yet? I'll show you something if you can walk with me. I can't carry you cause you're too heavy."

Well, how was he supposed to be optimistic? Kilah and Mignon were about his age, but it had taken him a lot longer to get his ability quest than them. That meant it would probably take longer for him to grow, too. But enough of that. Could he walk? Umm... Some? Maybe if she helped him, and they didn't walk too fast. He needed something to hold on to, or else he'd fall over. Nodding, he struggled to his feet, swaying slightly, but managing to keep his balance. "Taa, Kii! See?"

"Ah,very good!" Of course she couldn't "see",but she believed him when he said he was standing and clapped her hands together. She followed him and stood, offering her hand out to him for balance. "Careful now,if you fall on it it'll break more." What she was talking about was for the time being a mystery.

He immediately took her hand, stumbling after her towards...well, whatever she was going to show him. Lyrus was extra careful not to fall this time. He didn't want to break the whateveritwas! Every time he would start to fall, he just, well, clung to Akilah. He felt a bit bad for it, but he was sure she understood. And he didn't break the...thing.

Yes,Kilah didn't seem to mind at all. She had needed just as much help when she was walking (though her lack of eyesight was partly to blame for that). Carefully, with the hand not holding his pressed against the outside wall, she led Lyrus around the mansion and into the back. When they reached the location...it was nothing more then a bunch of flowers. Live flowers. Kilah released his hand and bent down to them, but didn't rip them up. Infact, she didn't even pull them out of the ground.

With a thoughtful look, she finally pulled on out. It was different, this flower, and with a second glance one would notice she hadn't pulled it from the ground at all. No,the rose was made of glass from top to bottom. However,it was scratched in many places. "See? I needed this to grow up!" It had been one of eight items she'd needed, and the only flower she actually liked. But,the glass felt so rough with all those scratches and such now...

A patch...of flowers... Well, it was very pretty, to be sure. But from what he knew of Kilah, she -hated- flowers. Lyrus hoped she wouldn't tear them all up. Therefore, when she only pulled up one--and then didn't tear it up--he was rather surprised. However, a second look revealed why she hadn't torn it. Lyrus' eyes widened in surprise, and he immediately dropped to sit in the bed of flowers, reaching with one hand for the glass one, then recosidering and looking up at Kilah. "Sss see?"

"You can see it." After she thought about it,it didn't matter much to her if he broke it or not at this point. It was already scratched and everything anyway. Noyama had said once it wasn't good to rip up flowers infront of babies. Normally,Kilah wouldn't give a rats behind about any influence her hatred for flowers might cast upon a baby, but she'd make an exception for Lyrus. For the time being, she made a mental note to come back and kill the stupid real flowers later as she carefully handed Lyrus the glass one.

Lyrus carefully accepted the flower, setting it on his lap just to be extra careful. Normally he wouldn't take such care, but this was glass, which he adored already, and it was Kilah's. He didn't want to break something of hers.

He frowned absently, considering the flower. Now that he had a chance to really inspect it, it wasn't all that pretty. The colors were nice, yeah, but it was all scratched up! Plus, it wasn't a whole flower yet. Just a bud. Lyrus eyed the flower curiously for a moment, then shrugged and absently patted it, glancing back up to Kilah. "Pi'ee, Kii!"

"I don't think it's very pretty right now." Her tone was a thoughtful one with a look to match. "It's all scratched up. Sister said it wasn't pretty at all." The thought of that simply disgusted her. Infact, she'd wanted nothing to do with the stupid flower (glass or not) until her sibling had said the thing looked stupid. After that Kilah had insisted it was beautiful, but carrying it around had eventually led to her tripping and dropping it. The thing didn't break, but it might as well have. "Not beautiful no more."

"Nah, pi'ee," Lyrus assured her, even though it...well...wasn't. He glanced back down at the glass flower and jumped slightly, then froze. It looked...different? Lyrus eyed it warily for a moment, then cautiously ran a hand over it. The scratches had gone, and the whole structure seemed a bit clearer, more crystalline. To add to that, the bud had opened somewhat--just a head start on what would likely happen naturally. But...how had that happened? Maybe he was imagining it. "Pi'ee, Kii, see?" Lyrus asked to reassure himself, carefully handing the flower back to her.

"Yeah,Lyrus,it's-" Her words were cut off as she accepted the flower back. At first, she'd merely been humoring the baby so as not to upset him. Even without eyesight she could tell you that stupid flower was ugly, but as she held it now she felt no more scratches, and the bud on the type had gotten bigger? But she was positive it hadn't been like that when she handed it to him! "How you do that?"

"Uh'no," Lyrus countered, arms spreading in confusion. Hoenstly, he hadn't the faintest idea what had happened. He just knew the flower was prettier, and that made it better, which was good. Lyrus liked it much better this way. "Pi'ee, Kii?"

"Yeah, pretty." But she wasn't satisfied. Her logic was that of a toddler, but it wasn't hard to figure out. If it was a common ability, she would've been able to do it too. But she hadn't. And he had. Which meant one thing. "Lyrus,I think this is power! The one you got!"

Blinking, Lyrus looked up to her, then back at the flower, cocking his head to the side. He had done that? Now that he thought about it, it made sense. he had been holding it when it changed. And it had changed just like he thought it should! So, he could fix glass things? Or, at least, make them look better? Well, that was...interesting. Very different from Kilah's and Mignon's, but that was alright. Hmm, but what to do with it..? "Sss bi'lee? Pi'ee gass, taa Kii?"

It was rare for Kilah to smile and actually mean it,and this had to be a record, smiling over a flower and all. But she was,and would've clapped her hands in approval IF she hadn't been holding the glass flower. But she was,and had she clapped she would've dropped it,so she settled for a nod. "Lyrus's ability must be to fix glass things! The flower is pretty again." Or she thought so,anyway. Let's see that stupid sister of hers say it was ugly now.

Fixing glass things. Lyrus could live with that. After his quest, almost everything in his room was glass! ...He and Banda had gone a bit overboard. But it was Isto's gold, so it didn't matter, and Lyrus had gotten lots of pretty new stuff. So now, if he accidently broke or scratched any of his things, he could fix them, yes? He hoped so. Other than that, he really couldn't think of any practical uses for it. Maybe he would find something... "Pi'ee fow," he murmured assuredly. There! That could be his present to Kilah. She had given him a feather, and he had fixed her flower.

"Yes,pretty." Kilah felt her stomach turn each time she said that. Flowers weren't pretty. Flowers were stupid. But Lyrus seeemed happy he'd been able to fix this one,so she should be happy too right? Placing the flower back in it's hiding place, she then stood and offered her hand out again. She'd have to come back and get the flower with Gizmo later. She'd only drop it again. "Come on."

Despite how obviously wonderful the flower was, Kilah still seemed upset by it. Lyrus frowned, but didn't comment. Kilah didn't like flowers, not even glass ones. Why, Lyrus still wasn't sure. Maybe it had something to do with not being able to see them... That was most of the fun of flowers, after all. He completely lost his train of thought when she stood, and glanced up after her, reaching for her hand and awkwardly climbing to his feet. "Eh?"

Kilah did the usual routine. Put her hand on the wall and guided herself along until they reached the front. Just in time to hear Noyama call for her. "I'm coming!"

Grumbling, she let go of Lyrus's hand and hoped he wouldn't fall. "Guess I gotta go now. See you later, okay?"

Lyrus swayed slightly on his feet, but managed to stumble the short distance to the wall, bracing himself against it with one hand and waving sadly in goodbye with the other. "Baa, Kii!"

"See you!" This said, she hurried forward and took Noyama's hand, immediatly bursting into explanation about Lyrus's ability. The protector couldn't understand a word of it,but nodded her head just the same as they walked away from the estate.

Lyrus was still watching them go when Isto scooped him up, catching the infant completely by surprise. When he finally realized who it was, Lyrus jabbed a finger in the general direction of Isto's motorcycle, grinning hopefully up at his brother. "Vroooom?" Laughing, Isto started for the bike, tucking the baby under one arm. "Yeah, time to head home.."

Yeah, um, this is Isto. Banda says I have to update the log, beause I took Lyrus to the Sin''aeis place. Please excuse any errors and such. Metal hand doesn''t like tasks like this.

So, anyway, this morning I got a call from Banda asking if he could borrow some gold for Lyrus'' quest. (Couldn''t remember who the shortie was until Banda reminded me, to be honest xD; ) Gave them fre reign to my funds (stupid idea) and, well... Let''s just say I''m quite a bit poorer. No worries, though. Moo''ll pay me back when she gets home, I''m sure, and it was for a good cause.

Lyrus'' quest, believe it or else, was to find ten glass items. (Normally not a pricey thing, but they went a bit...overboard.) Ten glass items for a baby. A slightly twisted baby, at that, evil little thing. But he bought the items nonetheless, nothing happened, and I brought Lyrus to the Sin''aeis place.

Once there, we met up with two of his friends, Mignon and Kilah, and their guardians. I got my cheek pinched (don''t tell Slush), talked a bit with the guardians. Lyrus ''chatted'' with his friends, figured out his ability in the process. I''m still not sure what it is, but Banda''s dancing around behind me cheering about morphing glass and such. No earthly idea. I''m sure Banda will fill you in once he''s calmed down.

Poor Banda, stuck at home taking care of everyone while Moo''s away. Kama''s no help, I''m sure, and I haven''t even seen Scion. Mayhaps I''ll stick around until she gets back. Help out, keep him company. Slush will understand, I''m sure. They''ve got plenty of help at X''s, and Moo should be home any day now.

And... that''s it. I''m off. Someone just broke something, and Banda''s stopped cheering. I hope it wasn''t any of those new glass things... Off now, byes.

I am home! About time, I'd say, though I think I've another trip soon-ish... Not to much to report on this past trip. Same old same, not worth noting, really. Banda's done a wonderful job of holding up the house while I was away <3 I'm very proud of him... And Isto was here when I got back, too! What a lovely surprise <3

But yes, I am home. Banda hasn't told me most of what happened while I was away, but I do know that Lyrus received his ability quest...or something like that. Actually, Banda called me and told me this a couple of days back, so when I came home I brought Lyrus some little glass discs I found. His ability, apparently, has something to do with making glass things...pretty. Or something of the sort. He's certainly made the disks, um...prettier than before. He even gave me one!

And here I was thinking he didn't like me.

Actually, scratch that. I still think he doesn't... But maybe he's softening a bit? Oh well... He seems to adore Banda at any rate, which is good. As long as he respects one adult in this household....

Ah well, over and out.

Moo had finally returned, thank goodness, and things were gradually going back to normal at the House. Once they were sufficiently under control, the young woman set off to visit...well...anywhere and everywhere that she hadn't been in the month she was away. Today, that included the Sin'aeis mansion. Upon reaching the house, she slipped inside without knocking--as she'd been instructed--and looked around, absently resettling Lyrus on her hip.

Lyrus had finally decided he liked this woman. Mostly due to the fact that, when she had returned, she had brought him a present. A glass present, in fact. Lyrus had a feeling Banda must have told her about his new ability. But that was alright, because he had discs! Of glass! And they were quite entertaining. In fact, Lyrus was so engrosed in his disc--he was 'doodling' on it, making yet another decoration for his room--that he completely failed to notice where they were. Oh well.

Chaco yawned. It wasn't very early in the morning, but he was tired all the same. Aylee had given him the duty of looking after her newest child, Tabansi. So he'd been up a bit through the night, trying to take care of the child. Unfortunately she never seemed to want to sleep, at least not for long periods of time. And she'd cry if she was left alone.

Plodding down the stairs with the baby girl glued to his hip, he blearily eyed Moo before realizing who she was. Shaking himself awake, he got a better grasp on Tabansi and smiled at the woman, "Hello Miss Moo, Lyrus."

Moo's glanced towards the stairs when she heard footsteps, waving a greeting to Chaco and struggling to remember his name. They had only met once, after all, and it had been a while... Moo was never good with names. When it finally clicked, she flashed a cheerful grin, nodding. "G'morning Chaco and baby girl. Sorry, did we wake you?"

Lyrus quickly decided he was bored with Moo's arms, and jabbed at hr with one finger until she set him down. Sitting on the floor, he blinked up at Chaco and the girl, then waved one of his discs at them. "Sss aa gaabluruft." Sage nod.

Chaco smiled and placed Tabansi down on the floor with Lyrus, "This is my mother's newest... Acquisition." He shook his head slightly to show that he didn't approve of his mother taking on children and then ignoring them, "Her name is Tabansi." He smiled and looked at Moo, "And no, I've been awake for a while. Just tired is all. For some reason I find it harder to take care of children that aren't Sin'aeis..."

Tabansi stared at Lyrus for a moment, then took the ear of the stuffed fox she was chewing on and waved it at him, attempting to mimic what he had done with the disc. "Aalabaa!"

It's nice to mee you, Tabanasi," Moo replied cheerfully, waving down to the little girl. Turning her eyes back to Chaco, she nodded understandingly, then cocked her head to the side. "New babies are always a lot of work, especially if you don't know much about the...erm.. species. I still don't know much about Lyrus, I'm afraid. Banda's been watching him for me... It's good of you to help your mum out."

Lyrus quirked a brow at this new little girl, eyeing her stuffed fox thoughtfully. Finally, deciding she was worthy, he schooched over and held out the disc for her inspection, proudly pointing to the various etched swirls in the glass. "Bi'lee aa Sss."

Chaco nodded, "I suppose so. But if you have any questions, feel free to ask me. I don't mind answering them, after all." Well, okay, most questions. There were probably certain topics he'd be uncomfortable with, but so far he hadn't come across any. "And as for taking care of her... Well, the thing is that if I didn't, no one else would." With a sigh he shook his head. His family were all just so LAZY.

Tabansi giggled and clapped her hands as she looked at the squiggly doodles. "Paaaaaasa!!" They were pretty! How had he made them? She clapped again and then offered her fox plushie to Lyrus, wondering if he wanted to play with it, too.

Moo frowned, glancing down to the little girl. "Well, no offense, but that's not right. You shouldn't have to handle that much responsibility yet. Poor thing..." She shook her head, sighing, then blinked and glanced back up to Chaco. "Actually, I do have a question." Reaching in her pocket, she pulled out a few discs similar to the one Lyrus was holding, holding them out to Chaco so he could examine the designs. "Perhaps you could explain this? Banda mentioned an ability, but I honestly haven't the faintest idea what he was talking about."

Nodding smugly, Lyrus carefully set the disc down on the floor, then reached out a hand to pat the plushie. It wasn't as good as his wombat, but it was -pretty- nice. It sorta reminded him of Kama. Quite suddenly, Lyrus would have liked nothing more than to rip the plushie apart. He forced a grin for the girl's benefit, then held out a hand an introduced himself. "Sss. Oo?"

"Well,it's NOT like she didn't deserve it!" Kilah protested in a screech, one that could be well heard as they approached the mansion. Gizmo, the ever so loyal griffon, trotted beside her as they went, clucking his tounge against his beak every once and while to show his agreement.

Noyama would just sigh, rub her head and grumble. She'd never had one of those "headache" things before, but she assumed this was one,and she did NOT like it. "Kilah, there NO reason to try and knock sisters room down. Whole house fall down that way!"

The toddler snorted and kicked at the ground, pulling her hand away from Noyama's. Hearing Lyrus, she perked up and waved wildly in the direct of the mansion. "Lyrus!"

"I don't mind, really. It's sort of in my job desription..." Chaco shrugged, and then stared at the discs for a moment, "Ability... Oh... Uhm." He realized he probably hadn't told Moo anything about the Sin'aeis when she had picked Lyrus up. In fact, half of the protectors probably knew nothing about their children. Nodding, he said, "Well, see... uhm..." He tried to think of a good way to approach the subject, "Er... Every Sin'aeis child is born with... I suppose you could call it a 'destiny' of sorts... uhm... Basically they each have a job that they are fit for, what they used to be back in the old kingdom. And because of that, they will end up aquiring abilities based on that job, and on any other interests they might have had at the time." He didn't even realize he hadn't even explained what he meant by the Old Kingdom.

Tabansi reached out toward Lyrus, as though to shake his hand. She's seen other people around the house do it when they saw new people, so it must be something good! Maybe she got something for it, "Aah Taaa!" A few seconds later she heard new voices, ones that had never graced her ears before. She glanced around, hugging her fox plush, and attempting to locate the source.

Moo raised a hand to silence him, smiling apologetically and letting it fall. "Pause. Umm, so, Lyrus was somewhere else, and had a..job, and it gave him powers? To make multicolored sketches in glass?" She blinked, thinking this over, then tried again. "Maybe it'd be best if you started with this 'old kingdom'."

Lyrus cheerfully shook her hand, mumbling something that was probably the equivalent of 'Nice to meet you'. The infant's head suddenly snapped up, eyes turning in the direction of the new voice. Grinning, he reached over and patted Tabansi's hand to reassure her, then turned back towards the sound and waved to Kilah, even though she couldn't see. "Kii!! Sss a Taa, see? Gaas!"

Kilah rushed ahead of Noyama then, after she'd told her,"Be nice to new baby,Kilah."

New baby? WHAT new baby? Coming to a stop beside Lyrus, she fell to her knees and listened. Oh,there WAS someone else there. Talking to Lyrus? Oh,no,THAT wouldn't happen again.

What that was,was a long story. Kilah hadn't seen Mignon in a while, and she'd been told be her something along the lines of,"He can't be THAT bad." He being Aard. In her mind,Mignon must've made better friends with Aard then her,and didn't want to see Kilah anymore. But,nu uh,that would NOT be allowed to happen with Lyrus. Through clutched teeth she half-growled,"Aren't you...cute."

"FRIEND MOO! YOU ARE BACK!" Noyama being Noyama, she didn't even realize she was interupting anything when she half-tackled,half-hugged her friend, spilling out so many words at once none of them made sense.

"Well see... Uhm... We Sin'aeis are actually from a different... I think mum called it a different Dimansion. Or something. Uhm. Anyway--" He stopped speaking all of a sudden when he heard Noyama cry out and saw her latch on to Moo. "Uh... uhmm..." He blinked rapidly, trying to gather up his thoughts again. He always got so nerveracked when he was trying to explain things about the Sin'aeis. "Uhm... Hello Miss Noyama."

Tabansi watched the new girl for a moment in awe. She seemed to know Lyrus pretty well, but she wasn't looking at them. Why? "Yabiie? Aaka!" She lifted up her fox plushie and offered it to Akilah hoping the new person would accept it as an offering of kindness. "Aaka!!"

"A different dime--" Moo abruptly fell silent with the unexpected tacklehug, taking a moment to figure out who it was that was hugging her before laughing and returning the embrace. "Yup, I'm back! Took long enough, didn't it? It's good to see you again, Noya! How've you been?"

That wasn't exactly the cheerful greeting Lyrus had expected. She had seemed happy enough when she first called him. Maybe Tabansi had upset her? The wasn't good! Kilah should be happy, too! Out of the corner of his eye, Lyrus saw Tabansi offering up the plushie, and quickly decided she had the right idea of things, picking up the disc and setting it in Kilah's hand. "Sss bi'lee gaas, Kii."

Noyama smiled at the boy and waved her hand. "Greetings to you,Chaco. Kilah need to talk to you,but..." Her eyes trailed over to the three younger ones. "Guess later." Looking back to Moo,she clapped her hands once in approval and nodded quickly. "Yes,very long time! Noyama is fine,Moo have good trip? Banda say something about plane?"

"Listen here, baby." The whisper was directed toward Tabansi, and to quietly for Lyrus to hear. To the untrained eye,it seemed they were only playfully exchanging secrets. "Things happen when you try and take Kilah's friends away. Bad things." Then she straighted as something was placed in her hand. Of course, she hadn't seen the other babies offering. "What's this?"

Chaco glanced down at then three, then nodded, "Tell me something? Alright, I'll make sure I get to talk to her before we part today." He sighed. Even though he was still exhausted from the night before, he was probably going to have to do a lot today. And he still hadn't made breakfast for Solo yet. Well anyway. He glanced back at Moo, "Uhm... Where was I?"

Tabansi looked at Kilah with her head tilted to the side. Why hadn't she accepted the fox plushie? "Aaka...?" She glanced back and forth between Lyrus and Akilah, trying to understand what was going on. Had she done something she shouldn't have?!

Nodding cheerfully, Moo grinned. "The trip was great, for the most part. Plane's motor fried on the way back, so Acia and I got stuck in this little village until we were able to find some replacement parts. But at in all in was good. Glad to be home, though..." She trailed off, then glanced back to Chaco, thinking briefly before replying. "You were explaining the old kingdom. How the Sin'aeis aren't from here."

Huff. Kilah and Tabansi had only just met, and they were already telling secrets? Lyrus felt so left out. He was just debating a good sulk when Kilah's attention returned to him. Perking up, he patted the disc, beaming. "Faa Kii. Sss bi'lee, faa Kii."

Noyama had to agree. It was nice to see Moo again, though she'd enjoyed all the other members of her family. Tilting her head, she finally caught on she'd interupted something, and her ears perked intently up as she listened.

"Oh,you fixed it? Very good!" Her mind wandered to when he'd fixed that stupid flower. She had,for some reason, come back and got it later. And when she'd taken it back home, she didn't break it. But she could always do that later.

Chaco nodded, "Oh. Right. Uhm." He ran a hand through his hair, "Uhm... We're from another dimansion or something, as I said... Uhm... I suppose I should start with why we're here. Back in my kingdom, no, in the entire world, there was a sort of... plague going around. Uhm... It was different from normal plagues, in that it turned people into... well, sortof into mosnters. Not physically, but it played with their minds, changing them completely... after a few days of it, those affected would die." He stopped for a minute to gather his thoughts again, "We couldn't find a cure. So... The high council decided that they'd send the youngest breeder to another world, to try to bring our kingdom back in that new place. Uhm... That was me." He stopped to make sure that Moo was understanding everything so far. He hated that it was such a long story, but it needed to be told.

Tabansi looked back and forth between the two again. She felt left out... Akilah seemed to be ignoring her, and Lyrus, well she couldn't figure out what was with him. Trying not to cry, she held out to fox plushie to Kilah again, hoping the girl would accept it, "Aaka!!!"

Well this was...interesting, to say the least. Moo listened silently as the boy began his explanation, occasionally nodding in understanding. So, they were from anotherwhere, and they all had jobs from birth. Or something. And Chaco was a breeder, and they had sent him to keep the species from dying in the plague? Restarting in a new world. Got it. Nodding, Moo gestured for him to continue.

"Naa, faa Kii." Lyrus shook his head, grabbing her empty hand and moving her fingers over the designs etched in the glass. True, she couldn't see it, but maybe she could imagine? Oh well. It wasn't his fault his gift wasn't as good as hers. He didn't have pretty feathers to give. He frowned, then glanced sideways to Tabansi, watching her try to hand the plushie to Kilah. Ohhhh, she didn't know Kilah couldn't see! Lyrus would help. Leaving the glass, he pulled Kilah's hand over to the plushie, setting it on the fox's head. "Taa nye, Kii."

Such didn't seem much different from the way she had to read. Sadly, the picture to her just became an outline, and what it was suppose to be she had no idea, being as she'd never seen one before. Her nose wrinkled back a bit as the glass suddenly became something more fuzzy.

Carefully, she snatched it up,not even aware Tabansi had been holding it. Soon after she realized it felt like that old bear plushie she had. Lyrus had ripped that up,though, why hadn't he ripped up this one? "This yours,Lyrus?"

Chaco nodded, "Uhm... Well, basically, what I call breeding isn't really breeding at all. I mean, I don't create new life... Uhm... When I was brought to this world, the high council had given me the souls of a large percentage of the people in my kingdom. I was told that I was to use those souls to create new children here in this world. Unlike me, the don't remember anything, but they still have all of the... uhm... I suppose you'd call them attributes, of who they used to be. Their abilities are part of that."

Tabansi looked up at Akilah and let go of the fox plushie as the other girl grabbed it. "Aaka!!" she said happily, clapping. She'd finally taken it! "Blaati Dukaa! Aaka aaka!" She smiled and clapped again, unaware that Kilah thought the plushie was Lyrus's.

Lyrus gave up. He snatched back the glass and set it on the ground beside him, settling down to sulk and only gracing Kilah with a mumbled reply. "Na, faa Taa."

Moo felt a chill run down her spine, and glanced warily to Lyrus. So, he was someone else, from from someotherwhere, and he had died, and now he was living again at her house because Chaco had put his soul into a piece of meat!? ....This was...awkward...but not entirely unexpected. Ah, well, if they couldn't remember who they had been, it was good that they got a second chance, right? "So, Lyrus can do this to glass because of who he was before... Can he do other things? Or, will he be able to, or anything?"

When he didn't answer fast enough,Kilah jumped to a conclusion. Such was this: the toy must be Tabansi's. Had it been his,he would've just handed it to her rather then directing her hand to it. But...he hadn't ripped it up?

But he HAD ripped up hers, way back when. Her eyes sparked a bit,her expression becoming angry as she tossed the plushie down and stomped one foot. If he didn't destroy HER stuff,he must like her better! Oh,well,THAT was just fine! She didn't need him anyway!

Without a word, she stormed toward Chaco, pointing toward his voice demandingly. "You,I need to talk with you. Right NOW."

Chaco nodded slightly, "Mmhmm. Yes, but... The abilities will come slowly, for a while. Uhm... I'm afraid some of them may end up affecting his personality if you're not careful a--" He blinked as Akilah stormed over to him, "Ahh? Uhm... Okay, but..." He sighed. Right now didn't seem to be a good time to make Akilah any angrier, from the look of it. He sat down on the floor so that the weight of him body was being supported by the balls of his feet, "What is it? Is there a problem?"

Tabansi watched as the fox was thrown to the ground. What? Had she... done something she shouldn't have? Akilah didn't look too happy, and neither did Lyrus. Worried, she crawled over towards Lyrus, picking up the fox plushie on the way. "Daaba? Lii kati?"

She growled a little, her tightened fists twitching. Had she known he was at her level (or close to it),she quite possiblely would've slapped him. "Not infront of them." After saying this, she motioned in some random direction, not being sure what was there but knowing none of the protectors were.

Chaco glanced up at the two protectors for a moment, then back down at Akilah. He could sense anger flowing off her in waves. Giving a mental sigh, he nodded, "Alright. Miss Moo, we can finish our conversation another time, alright?" In one swift movement he pulled Akilah into his arms and stood up. A quick glance around and he decided one of the second livingroom would be a good place to talk. Solo was sleeping in the main one, and he doubted Akilah wanted to talk with him around, either. He gave the two protectors a quick nod, before moving off towards the other room.

Once inside he placed Kilah down and checked quickly to make sure no-one else was there, then shut the door. "Alright, there's nobody else here. What was it you wanted to talk to me about?"

As she was being carried,Kilah made a note to kick Chaco in the shins when she was as tall as he was. Very, very hard in the shin. Possible in the face too, because he'd no doubt fall when she did. Stupid chocolate boy carrying her like that! Hmph!

When she was finally set down,Kilah crossed her arms and sat down. In a tone more professional then any toddler should be able to pull off (and with a serious expression to match) she said simply,"I need another one."

Well FINE, if she was going to blow up at him, he just wouldn't give her the present! Wasn't like she wanted it anyway. The baby yelled the most imaginative curse he could think of (honestly, it didn't make any sense) after her, then picked up the glass disc and threw it at the wall, nodding in satisfaction at the tell-tale shatter and folding his arms. He would just find a new friend, then! Tabansi could be his friend, yeah... Huffing, he shrugged and patteded 'Taa's' fox. "Kii thoop ded. Taa aa Sss gaarumd?"

Moo was still thinking about Chaco's words when the sund of glass shattering reached her ears. She winced, glancing towards the noise, and nodded absently to Chaco. "What? Oh, yeah, some other time. Thanks, Chaco." Once he was gone, she quickly made her was over to the small pile of glass and began picking up the shards, carefully cupping them in her hand. "You had to throw it, didn't you, Lyrus..?"

Tabansi looked at the glass shards on the floor as Moo reached down to scoop them up, "Yaapa Lii." Turning back to Lyrus she tilted her head to the side wondering what was wrong, "Lii taa Ka nyura?" Of course it made no sense to normal adults. It probably made no sense in baby talk, either.

Ohh, Lyrus was in a bad mood now. He hadn't done anything wrong! All he had done was try and give Kilah a present, and she had yelled at him and run away. Lyrus decided he was going to get even. He would, he would.....give her another present. The baby grinned and patted Tabansi's hand to assure her that he was fine, then quickly crawled over to Moo, snatching up one of the larger glass pieces while she wasn't looking. He schooched back to it by Tabansi, holding up the piece for her inspection, then begin debating over how to make it 'pretty' for his...friend.

Tabansi tried to understand what it was Lyrus was doing. But she wasn't a Sin'aeis child, and she didn't get abilities like them. She was completely at a loss. Well, Lyrus seemed to be in a slightly better mood!! "Ayaaa nie! Tuku kaem." She waved her fox plush in the air while watching him excitedly.

Lyrus finally decided, just to add insult to injury, he would make the glass a flower. It already looked somewhat like one, shards sticking everywhere as they were. But not quite enough.. Being extra careful not to cut himself, he concentrated on the glass and begin pulling the shards around so that hey looked more like petals, but didn't loose their sharpness. The 'stem' would be plenty sharp enough, though...hopefully.

The Lamb Sin'aeis enjoyed having an audience, especially when that audience couldn't do whatever he was doing. He could move glass, Tabansi couldn't. So he made a big show of ever little movement, designing the 'flower' to perfection...Or, as perfect as a baby could get. It was rather lopsided once he was done, but it did look vaguely flower-ish. Actually, it was quite pretty. What a pity he had to give it away...

Tabansi watched the show with admiration, and the clapped happily when he was finished, "Taaaa! Kaaria! Lii naapa caao!" Grinning she reached forward to touch the flower, only to p***k herself on one of the sharp petals. She yanked back and her eyes teared up almost instantly, "K-kamuuu!!!" She started crying almost instantly after, the clear tears rolling down her dark skin.

Lyrus beamed proudly at the applause, bowing his head 'modestly'. Only to immediately look back up when he heard her cry, grimacing when he realize what must have happened. ...Well, at least he knew it worked. Lyrus carefully set he flower aside, then reached out and took Tabansi's hurt hand, reassuringly patting the top with his free hand. "Nah tyee, Taa. Aabud daat Sss gaas. Nah tyee!"

Chaco walked into the foyer, a small smirk on his face. He slowly became aware that Tabansi was crying and stooped to pick her up, "Pricked your finger, hmm?" He looked down at Lyrus, then back at Tabansi. They had seemed to have gotten along fairly well except for that last flower incident. Sighing he said, "Well, I have work to do, and I should probably get Tabby a bandaid." He reached down and patted Lyrus on the head, nodded at the two protectors, and then moved up the stairs, the small wicked grin returning to his face.

((Continued))

Lyrus felt a built guilty for having hurt Tabby, but, well...He hadn't -made- her touch the flower. She had done that on her own. He waved silently in goodbye when she and Chaco left, then reached over and carefully picked up the glass flower once more. It was sharper than he had expected. He didn't want to accidently cut himself...

Mignon happily made her way up the lane, a rather unhappy dragonman behind her. He was nursing a bloddied tail. Every time that he would do something that Mignon disliked, she would give him a harsh stab with her fork.

"Lyrus!" She gasped happily, running the rest of the way towards him. She hadn't seen him for a while! She leaned down and planted a kiss on the crown of his head. "How are you doing?" She asked, smiling.

Dhee shook his head in amazement. What a change from the angry little beastie from moments before.

For the second time that morning, Lyrus heard someone call his name, and for the second time, he cheered up, looking over and waving a greeting. Mignon was here!! Mignon was still his friend, even if Kilah didn't like him anymore! But Lyrus had a feeling Mignon was still Kilah's friend too, and therefore wouldn't want him to give her the flower. So...he hid it. Sort of.

Lyrus set the flower behind himself before she could reach him, then resumed his waves, blinking in surprise at the kiss. Shrugging, he smiled and set his hands on his lap. "Sss aa see Ngny. Kii thoop ded, Ngny nye."

She smiled at being called Nye. "Aww, that's nice of you to say!" She chirped. "But why is Kilah stoopid? Was she being silly?" She asked, plopping down in the grass.

Lyrus sighed, looking down and reaching up a hand to scratch his head. "Sss maa Kii pzent...Kii nuh ayt....Sss maa fow." Reaching back, hecarefully picked up the glass flower and held it up for Mignon's inspection.

"You made this?" She asked, eyes widening. "It's so pretty, Lyrus! And made of glass! How didn't you break it? I get yelled at for breaking glasses. I only use plastics." She said, then realized what it was. A flower. That's why...

"Kilah doesn't like flowers. She thinks they're stinky. She didn't mean to be mean, I know." She bobbed her head hard.

Nodding absently, he carefully set down the flower, in the process knicking himself on the stem. He bit be a whimper and closed his fist around the cut, then sat on his hand, looking back up at Mignon. "Sss bi'lee, gaas. Na fow aa Kii. Isssc. Kii na ayt isssc. Sss maa fow aa cuk Kii. Ha!" The baby laughed darkly, momentarily forgetting the cut on his hand.

"It's not nice to cut." Mignon said firmly, but she spotted the cut on Lyrus's hand. She stomped over to Dhee and demanded a band-aid. Returning, she reached for his hand. "Cutting hurts. But it wasn't nice for Kilah not to like your present." She frowned. Kilah had been grumpy that day. That made her unhappy.

Lyrus knew it wasn't nice. That was the whole point of it! Kilah deserved to be cut. She was the one who had yelled at him. And now he was cut, and she was gone. But at least Mignon was on his side... Sort of. Lyrus reluctantly held out his hand to her, opening his fist with a wince and grimacing at the sight of blood. Not much, but it was there. Yerch. Lyrus didn't like being hurt.

Mignon carefully put the band-aid over the boo-boo. "You can make glass pretty? That's a good ability. I tell if people are liing. Not as nice." She frowned. "Don't hurt Lala. You made the flower to hurt her, but you hurt yourself." She smiled, and held out her hand. There were four puncture wounds, partially healed. "See? I stabbed Meanie, and I stabbed myself. Don't try to hurt other, and you won't hurt yourself."

She made a mental note not to stab Meanie anymore. That had hurt her hand a few days ago.

Lyrus nodded absently, thinking over her words. Mignon was smart, Lyrus realized. But not -that- smart. After all, Kilah hadn't gotten hurt, and she had hurt people. He thought. Had she? She had made him sad. Did that count? Lyrus figured it did. Besides, the cut didn't hurt -that- bad. He hadn't cried like Tabby. Maybe Kilah would get a super bad cut. That would be good. Still, to make Mignon happy, Lyrus nodded, smiling. "Na urk Kii."

That satisfied her. "Good. When you hurt others, you hurt yourself." She said, mimicking Jeane's tone of voice.

"What other glassies have you made?" She asked.

Lyrus nodded absently, then gladly turned to the new subject, grinning up at Mignon. "Issscscs! Mooooo, issscscs!" He ordered, yelling back at his guardian, who had finally finished cleaning up the glass shards. ROlling her eyes, Moo walked over and handed him the other few discs, then returned to...whatever she had been doing o_O;.

The Lamb Sin'aeis watched her go, then proudly held the discs out to Mignon, each full of various etched design and swirls of colored glass. "Issscscs. Ngny pi pzent issc?"

Mignon smiled widley and picked one of the disks. "Are you sure? They're so pretty..." She carefully handled it, keeping it close. "I don't want it to break." She explained.

She frowned for a moment. "My ability is stupid. I can't make things for friends." She thought for a moment. "I'll find out why Lala was mean to you. I'll make her be nice again." Her face was determined.

"'Coze!" Lyrus cheerfully replied, glad she liked the discs, at least. At the mention of her ability, Lyrus shook his hea, waving away her comment. "Psss, Ngny bi'lee oodg. Sss bi'lee pi'ee, Ngny bi'lee awrt. Kii naa ayt Sss," he added, sighing.

Mignon patted Lyrus's back. "Don't worry. Silly Lala probably didn't get enough sleep. She showed me you, and she liked you then. I get grouchy if I don't nap." She said, smiling. There was no way that Kilah couldn't like Lyrus anymore!

Mignon had a good point. Maybe Kilah had just been having a bad day... But that was still no reason to not accept his gift! Of all things, the gift should have cheered her up. Maybe he picked a bad one? He'd liked it enough... But he liked the flowre more. Lyrus decided not to hurt Kilah, since that would just mke Mignon mad at him. He would keep the flower for himself. It was pretty. Smiling faintly, Lyrus nodded, glancing up at Mignon and brightening up.

Mignon smiled happily. She'd managed to make Lyrus happy, and that made her happy!

But then she shivered. There was someone nearby. Now that Lyrus was happy, she could focus on the other person. The person who made her shake all over. Someone who lied.

. . . Was Kilah nearby? Lyrus had said she was there. Mignon remembered froom loooong time ago, a mean lady that looked like 'Yama, but she lied. That mean lady had stolded Kilah once! Maybe she was trying to steal her again!

"Lyrus!" She said, standing up quickly. "Lala... There is a mean lady with Lala! A mean, liar lady! She says bad things!" Her eyes were wide open, and she was scared. "Come help me save Lala!"

Kilah was in trouble? But how could Lyrus help?! He could hardly walk! besides, why would he want to save Kilah? She had been mean. Huff. ....But she was still Kilah. "Ngny ep Sss," Lyrus ordered, and struggled to his feet, swaying slightly. He snatched for Mignon's hand to steady himself, then reached back down with his free one and carefully picked up the flower. It may come in handy yet. "Whe Kii, Ngny?"

Mignon squeezed Lyrus's hand. Closing her eyes, she tried to figure out where the lyingy-waves were coming from. They were far away... but far away where?

A rock winged past her ear. Mignon's eyes shot open and she turned to stare at the rock.

The house! Lala had to be there! Going as quickly as she thought Lyrus could handle, she started up to the house.

Lyrus waited while she searched... And before he knew it, they were heading up to the house, Lyrus relying heavily on Mignon to remain standing, let alone keep up. At the same time, he was keeping as tight a hold on the flower as he dared. He didn't want to cut himself, but he didn't want to drop it and trip. Stupid flower.

Mignon paused for a minute, and hoised Lyrus up onto her hip. It wasn't nice to drag him along. Lyrus was her friend.

She flung open the door, and there was the bad lady! The mean, bad, scary, mean, theify lady! Her lower lip trembled. The lady scared her bad! But that lady was a mean lady, who lied.

She let out a sob, and her whole body shook. "You... You leave my Lala alone! You won't take her away again! You.. You.. Bad Liar Lala-theify!" She wailed, moving between Kilah and Noharu.

Ack, he was being carried!? But Mignon wasn't much bigger than him! ...Still, it was a lot easier this way. Once they reached the group, Lyrus squirmed free and stumbled the rest of the way to Noharu, plopping down t sit at her feet. Smiling sweetly, he tugged on he clothes to get her attention and held the flower up to her, turning it to the angle that looked the least pointy. "Sss aa fow fo...um...oo!"

"M-Mignon?" Kilah stumbled. What in the world?! When she did she even GET here? Frantically, she called up at her friend to just leave. Noharu might hurt her,and even if she HAD been lying to Kilah the whole time, she didn't want her hurt. She didn't want ANYONE hurt. Except Aard, that she wouldn't mind.

Even Noharu seemed a suprised by the sudden outburst. Her ears had been perked up the whole time, but she hadn't heard them approach. Damn little kid footsteps, they walked so lightly! "Who the hell are you?" Some freak child like Kilah,no doubt. "Oh,you're Mignon, aren't you?" Noharu concluded after eyeing the child momentarily.

Her eyes moved to Noharu, glancing the flower over with a strange look on her face. What the hell? A flower, woo boy. "That's a flower, what about it?"

"Dun worry, my Lala." She said, staying in front of her. "Run away, out of house! If you scream, Dee-dee will grab you and fly you home, safe. Then, you won't leave again."

To Noharu, she tilted her head up proudly. "Yes. My Mommy told me about you. You won't take my Lala back to your stinky Island!" If Lala would run, She'd scream and make Lyrus run too, so the lady couldn't grab anyone. But Loreli was there, too. Too many people...

"Fo oo," Lyrus repeated, shaking the flower slightly for emphasis. Honsetly, adults were such idiots. It was pretty enough, he thought. Most people liked pretty things. ...Oh well, at least it was distracting her. "Fo oo!"

Luckily, not even Noharu would sink as low as to kick a baby; though the urge to do such to Lyrus was a very strong one. So she settled from rolling her eyes. She didn't want his stupid flower, though she was tempted to take it just to shut him up.

Her gaze focused back on Mignon, and she smiled innocently. "Dear,I've never taken Kilah anywhere. I'm the one who kept her safe on that horrible island. Your mother must be mistaken."

Kilah didn't run, though, but got back on her feet and grabbed Mignon's arm, pulling her back. "Mignon," she began in a whisper. "What're you doing here? Just go away. She'll hurt you."

"I can't leave Lala." She said softly. "You'll go away again. Grab Lori and Lyrus and run. I'll be fine. Big funny ears can't get me."

"Nuh-uh." She said to Noharu. "I 'member you. You lied about Lala being dead. You made Yama sad. Lala is my friend. I won't let you steal her, and take her back to a scary place!"

Well, hmm. This wasn't working. Stupid woman. Stupid not-flower-taking-woman. Lyrus was fed up with it. First Kilah didn't want the disc, then this woman didn't want the flower, EVEN THOUGH Lyrus was giving it to her so she would cut her hand and leave Kilah alone! It didn't make any sense. Lyrus shook his head sadly, then lifted the flower and jabbed it stem-down into Noharu's foot. A stem of sharpened glass. "Uhn, Kii!"

And....crawlawayasfastaspossible. "Uhn!"

Lorelei, even though she was a baby, could hear and understand the horrible words being said by the woman, and the truth being told by Mignon.

"Kiiilaaahh!" she shrieked, trying to stand up and get to her friend.

"YOU LITTLE MONSTER!" Noharu screeched, raising her clawed hand. Lyrus was fast, but certainly not face enough. She'd slash his throat open and let the little b*****d rot to death right there! How DARE he injure HER! How dare he even TOUCH her!

Suddenly, somebody grabbed her wrist. Not only that, but they twisted her arm and back and slammed her into the wall quite harshly. Noyama gave her no time too recover though, lifting her up and slamming her back against the wall for the second time. Not only did she lift her up,but by the throat.

On top of that, she had a vicious growl to go with it,and her eyes narrowed to form and expression she'd never used before. Her voice was so amazingly dark,Kilah didn't even recognize who it was. "You never touch these children."

Yama! Yama was there, and they'd be safe. Mignon threw her arms around Kilah, and hugged her as hard as she could.

"My Lala." She said, face muffled into her shoulder. "Me an' Lyrus an' Lor'li an' Yama won't let her steal you again. We love you. And Lyrus got her foot with the glass flower! That's a good flower, huh?"

He was saved! Lyrus paused where he was and sat back down, turning to watch. Stupid evil lady, got what she deserved. He hoped she'd have a limp for a while. She certainly deserved one! Yes she did, yes she did. And now Noya was gonna beat her up! Lyrus laughed triumphantly, clapping his hands in approval and pulling a face at Noharu. Take that, witch!

Unfortunately,Noyama really wasn't that violent like her twin. She wasn't anything like her twin. If she'd been Noharu, she'd have stayed there until she choked together. But she wasn't. Hissing, she released her, though pushed her out of the door and glared darkly.

Noharu snarled, but got up and rushed off (limping,of course).

After all this,Kilah had to wander just what had happened. There was someones voice and then...Noharu was gone? It was a good thing, she kept telling herself. But she couldn't get the things she'd said out of her mind, either.

Then Mignon was hugging her a bit, which stunned her for a few seconds. Nodding her head, she offered half-heartedily,"Yeah,good flower..."

A flower she couldn't see. Just like the rest of them...

Lorelei slowly blinked. Surely flowers weren't only for beauty, were they? If only she could find one, she could show her that they...

"... Smeeell..."

Lorelei tapped her finger with her nose before-- ooh! Dust speck!

Mignon let go of Kilah, but patted her shoulders. "Don't be unhappy with Lyrus. He just wanted to give you a present. He made the nice, smooth glass. And he was worried about you. We're your friends. Won't let stinky Noharu take you." And then a look of admiration crossed her face.

"Yama is strong!"

Noyama sighed and leaned back against the wall, scratching her head. Oh boy, this wasn't good. She'd forgotten the others could see her in that moment of rage. Jeane would probably be mad at her for showing Mignon such a violent thing, but maybe Lyrus was too young to be influenced by it? She could only hope.

Friends? Still,Noharu's voice was there. They don't really like you,she had said, and Kilah still had to wander. "A present?" Hearing this, she tilted her head, giving Mignon an odd look. "What present? You mean that stuffed toy?"

Hahaha, and off she went! Lyrus cackles, watching Noharu limp away with more than a bit of smugness. That wasn't something she would forget quickly. Still cackling softly, Lyrus struggled to his feet and turned to find Mignon...and saw her over with Kilah. Who didn't like him. Immediately Lyrus sat back down, looking away and tracing a finger along the floor. Oh, well, he would just stay here then...

Lyrus was bored. Life had been so boring since he got home. He had spent the greater part of the evening 'doodling' on another of the glass discs Moo had brought him. It was alright... Possibly one of his bests. But his mind wasn't on it. Yes, he was bored. Bored...bored....hmm..

Moo had said someone was coming visit. Who that someone was, he wasn't exactly sure. She had mentioned Azurais and ice and snogging, whatever that was. It really didn't make much sense to Lyrus. Whatever was going to happen, he hoped it would happen soon. Remember, he was bored.

Azurai
With a loud boomcrashish noise, Azurai burst through the door. "HIYO!" she said, grinning. She paused, looked around, and spotted Lyrus on the ground. "Perfect!" she said, and in a sweeping motion, placed a rather disgruntled Lex on the ground in front of Lyrus. The blue-haired baby had his little arms folded, eyes narrowed for no particular reason. He raised a baby brow at Lyrus' disc.

"Gfooganug?" he inquired. Rai, meanwhile, looked around.

"Baby! Where's Moo?" she said, then remembered that babies didn't respond. So, taking advantage of the empty house, she pranced off, hoping to run into her lover Moo...or Isto...either way. (( wink ))
PostPosted: Fri Jul 29, 2005 12:40 pm

Lyrus jumped visably when the door slammed open, glancing with wide eyes towards it as if he expected Noharu to step through. He put it past her. She had, after all, yelled quite a few things about killing him. ...Teehee.

But it was, in fact, not the evil woman. It was just that crazy lady who occasionally dropped by to visit Moo. Lyrus could remember her from a while ago... But this time she had someone with her. Deciding to ignore Rai--she was noisy--, he mimiced the new boy's expression and raised a brow, at the same time etching another colored swirl--this one pale green--in the glass. "Isssc. Oo ta?"

Azurai
Lex found the mimicking of his grumpy composure amusing, but he kept it to himself. He wasn't gonna let this guy see him laughing or anything, oh no. Strange gray guy...though the yellow horn was very nice. Lex wanted a horn. Stupid gray guy.

"Pfffgov," he said, outstretching his little hands to hold the piece of glass. He was more interested then he usually was with other people, but he was not being as grabby as he usually was. Which was interesting. He usually just took what he saw. But he felt he didn't want this gray thingy as an enemy. Besides, he had a wicked awesome horn.
PostPosted: Fri Jul 29, 2005 12:43 pm

Pffgov? Lyrus snorted. What a stupid name. Now he knew the loud lady was crazy. But this 'Pffgov' wanted his glass! ....Well, Lyrus decided to take pity on someone with a name like that. Shrugging, he handed over the glass disc, hiding a smirk. Flaunt the talent, and look as if he wasn't. Waiting for praise.

While he waited, Lyrus took a moment to eye over this new boy. Very blue. Much different from himself. And he had hair and...glass in his head? What was that? Without thinking, Lyrus reached out a hand and poked the center jewel, murmuring approvingly in baby-talk.

Azurai
Lex flinched slightly when Lyrus poked the jewel in his head, but then recovered and acted like he didn't care again. Surprisingly enough, he was sensitive about the glass thingy in his head. Mum had tried touching it, and he'd tried to bite her. But since then, she'd tried to touch the jewel many times, so now he was down to a little flinch. He looked down at the glass piece, and spun the discs in his fingers. It was pretty, and he liked how colorful it was.

"Mfffff," he said, nodding his liking of the little disc.
