She continued to look at her feet, shifting her weight, and not speaking for a few more moments. Finally, she looked up at him, a weak smile on her face.
"No, you don't have to. I don't really need any rest. Unless, of course, you'd like to leave."
The though had popped suddenly into her head. Perhaps he had suggested leaving her now because he was tired of her and couldn't stand to be around her any longer. She looked back at him, her smile now completely gone, and a glare in her eyes.
"Yes, actually, I suppose that would be best. I mean, its obvious that you can't stand to be around me any longer than you already have, so why don't you just go ahead and leave."
She turned around so that she was sideways to him, and continued to glare at him out of the corner of her eye, daring him to leave.

Sigh.
Evidently he'd been taken poorly again. He suspected he was fighting a losing battle against this mare's temper and he could do nothing more than shake his head. Obviously, she was now completely disgruntled at him... He had no idea why she had developed such a complex but if anyone desired to do anything or offered her advice she took it personally and nearly always in the wrong way.
He was tired. Not so much of her, on the contrary she was beautiful but she shifted so frequently that he could barely keep up. The conversation had flitted in so many ways that he was positively exhausted! With that in mind he wasn't entirely certain if he could muster any words she would deem enough to forgive him this time.
So, he was in a little bit of a rut...to say the least.
Then it hit him.
"All right," He said at last, bouncing his curls across his neck as he gave a shake of his head and turned away. He could only belittle himself so much before he had had enough, now his rather over confident self came back in its full glory. She had posed him a challenge and he was going to meet it!
"Have a pleasant evenin', Miss Ju," He offered and with that he began to walk away at a rather leisurely pace...

She watched him out of the corner of her eye and could tell that he was battling with himself over what to do next. Somewhere inside, it made her feel a little bit better. Obviously this stallion didn't give up, and something about that touched her.
Then he started to walk away. Completely shocked, she turned to face him, but he had already turned his back to her. Her mouth dropped open, and for a moment, she was rooted to the spot. Then she found her feet, and her voice.
"Hey, stop it!" she yelled as she followed after him. "Where do you think you're going? That's very rude, you know, to just leave without giving me a chance to say goodbye or ask you to stay or anything! You stop right now, and look me in the eye!"
She was furious with him. How could he be so rude?

There was the rant! It made him grin a little and he couldn't hide the smile as he came to a halt. Ensuring that his back remained to her as she trailed after (and lectured) him, he only began to shift his weight and look round when she demanded it. She really was a mare filled with contradictions, they seemed to be a constant part of her - they almost made her what she was. Really, if it wasn't quite so extreme he would have found most of it funny.
...Alas, the only thing he found amusing rig now was the fact that when she was met with a response to her dares, she caved him. To him, it was a sign that she craved attention, sure she may act smart and independent but there was a tiny bit of her that wanted someone to be there...if only to listen to her rant.
"Well Miss Ju," Biscuit began to turn round more fully, tensing his muscles ever so slightly to regain feeling in his limbs. "Ye did tell me te leave so I believe I was gonna return to me lands," He chose to answer that question first, a courteous smile upon his lips. His eyes twinkled just a little, his energy renewed as she did a tiny bit of the chasing.
She looked rather adorable when flustered.
"I assumed yer dismissal was the only goodbye I'd be receiving, but ye have me apologies for bein' so rude if I misunderstood ye words before."

She stood there, her face now pouting a bit, and shifted her weight around, causing her bangles to jingle a bit. Well....he did have a point, you know. She sighed, and smiled lightly.
"Oh no, I'm the one that should be sorry. You're right, I had already said goodbye to you. In my own way, that is."
She giggled a bit, realizing her mistake.
"Well, you're more than welcome to stay if you'd like. I don't know what came over me, but I was ever so rude. Unless, of course, you'd like to leave. We've been here a while, and I'm sure you have better things to do than stand here and talk to me, however interesting I may be."
She giggled again, her mood having taken another large swing, though she showed no sign that this might be even a little strange.

He was not going to stare. He was not going to gawk. Instead he simply released a slight chuckle and shook his head again. There was little else he could do in the wake of a mare that was even more temperamental than a hormonal (and very pregnant) one. Actually, that made his smile grow a little more - the concept of Ju having children with her unusual personality would both be very tiring for the poor stallion and yet it could also be a little entertaining.
...He was going to the underworld. His sense of humour was getting worse as the days went by.
She did have a nice laugh though, a shame she didn't do it more often.
"Eh, we all trip up on our own words, I do a lot...In fact, I nae be makin' a great deal of sense most of the time," He mused, recalling the times he had spoken so fast that he left people gawking in his own wake. He didn't realise he was doing it, not until he was told he was anyway.
"But te be honest I ain't got many plans teday...I was gonna go fishin' though," He continued. Well she had a strange personality and he had even stranger hobbies, if anything they complimented each other in that regard.
"Ye'd be welcome te come with me if ye like, if only te see me bounce around like the fool I be!"

Ju's eyes widened as he mentioned fishing. What in the world was that?
"Fishing? And how do you do that? I've never heard of it before."
In fact, she had never even heard of "fish", but as she didn't know there was such a word, she didn't ask. She looked down at her feet for a moment, and flicked a beetle off of her left hoof, sending her bangles jingling again. She then returned her eyes to Biscuit. He seemed to be getting in a better mood, so perhaps she would go along with him and find out what this "fishing" was all about.
"Well, thank you very much for the invitation! I'd love to go, if you're sure you wouldn't mind!"

"Course not!" Biscuit grinned in a more enthusiastic manner as he swooped in around her side and began to lead the way once more. Fishing cured everyone's problems. Fine, some weren't great at the art of fishing but it was still an experience they never forgot. Those who were afraid of water quickly found that there was nothing to be afraid of and they even had fun.
Haha! She'd let her hair down by the end of this, he just knew it.
Or rather he hope she would.
"Ye never lived til ye be tryin' fishin'," He explained gently, his step developing a new bounce. In a way, he had began to strut again as he often did...Without the necessity to belittle himself his confidence shone through and he even seemed taller. "Course, ye gotta learn to swim first but I be assumin' ye already know how te do that," He continued, flicking his ears forward as he rounded another hill.
It wasn't long before he could see the lake in the distance and gave a nod.
"Tha' be where ye do ye fishin'," He continued and canted his head to the side, "Ye can fish in the ocean too but it be more fun in the lake," He mused as he glanced back towards the mare. While he had no concerns with plunging in to the water head first he was uncertain as to how she would feel - she was so finely adorned with jewels that she may not feel comfortable getting wet.
"I be showin' ye how te do it when we get there though..."

She followed along beside him, and listened to how excited he was. If he enjoyed it so much, perhaps she would, too. But she still didn't know what it was...
"That's all very nice, but what is fishing? And no, I don't know how to swim. My parents never cared to teach me when I was younger."
She scowled then, as the memory of her parents had been painfully brought back to her mind. Her steps became heavier as she now stomped beside Biscuit, but she didn't say anything.

"Oh!" Well that gave Biscuit another thing to teach the pretty mare. In part he was delighted by this as it gave him the opportunity to show off his strong points and...well, it gave him a chance to stay in her company for a little longer. Ever the optimist, he was of the belief that she was warming to him even if she was now stomping about in a similar fashion to an elephant again.
...She must really hate her parents.
"Well I be teachin' ye that too, it be real easy," He reassured her, feigning ignorance in terms of her stomping he continued to talk as though there was nothing out of the ordinary. "Now in terms of what fishin' is..." He began to descend the slope, swishing his tail from side to side for additional balance. "Fishin' be where ye stand in the water, wait for a wee bit and then try to capture the lil critters in the water."
"They're real easy te spot, ye jes' cup them in yer front legs and rear up - toss 'em in the air and watch them fly back into the water again. They dinnae mind, it brightens their day too!"
"Pretty easy te spot too, they glitter a lil like yer pretty head dress only they be silver, aye?"

She continued stomping, her bangles jingling violently, only half-listening to Biscuit. He still seemed to be very happy, and that was annoying her. She glared at him, unnoticed, out of the corner of her eye again.
"I'm not stupid," she muttered, hardly loud enough to hear. In fact, Biscuit might not have heard her at all, but she didn't care all that much.
As she descended the hill with him, she spotted the lake ahead of them, and the glare from the sun caught her eye. She stopped stomping and began walking lightly down the hill.
"Is that where we're going?"

"I nae be sayin' ye stupid," Biscuit replied smoothly as he continued to saunter down the hill. He had been aware of her declining mood but had feigned ignorance up until that point. Putting words in his mouth was a bit of a pet hate for him though and he couldn't resist the urge to point that out. He wasn't going to accuse her of it but he wasn't going to let her get away with it either.
He fell silent shortly after that, his wistful smile still lining his lips as he observed the lake on the horizon. From this distance the lake seemed to glitter like a jewel in itself - he'd always thought it was a gorgeous sight and savoured it as such.
"Aye, that be where we're goin'," He assured her, glancing towards her briefly before quickening his pace. "Race ye."
As rude as she might view it he soon quickened his pace to a gallop and shot down the hill. It wasn't long before his form leapt into the air (in the distance) and then plunged right into the lake - the rising splash of water was the only indication of impact. He clearly hadn't given her any time to even prepare to bolt had she wanted to race!

She was slightly taken aback at his comment. As she hadn't really been speaking to him, she didn't expect him to respond.
"I wasn't talking to you, you know. Its not polite to eavesdrop."
The absurdity of this statement had no impact on Ju. In her opinion, he was eavesdropping.
When he challenged her to a race, she didn't miss a pace. She bolted off immediately and flew down to the lake. However, where Biscuit had jumped in, she suddenly slid to a halt, leaning back, her rear hooves digging into the soft ground of the banks. She wasn't sure how deep this lake was, and, not knowing how to swim, she didn't want to jump in without looking it over first.
She looked up at Biscuit as the water from his plunge splashed onto her. She shook the water off of her head, and watched him, trying to figure out how he was swimming.

It wasn't long before the male came to the surface again and spat the water from his mouth. Shaking the water from his mouth, he sent another shower of water droplets in every direction before flashing a merry smile towards the mare. Now completely in his element, his confidence (and ego) had been boosted by about forty points...he was easy pleased sometimes, it had always benefited his parents as a child.
Yes. Dump him in a lake and let him fish...he'd be happy for hours.
"It be a tad deep round this bit," He mused after a few moments before beginning to move towards an area not far from where she was. Nevertheless, given the contours of the lake it was on higher ground and slowly but he became more visible. Soon, only from the base of his shoulders and up could be seen.
"Now, jes' wade in and get a wee feel fer it. Then when she feel alright jes' paddle forward like ye doin' a really long stride. It's like walkin' but ye gotta make yer strides longer, k?"

She watched him swim around, and could tell where it got deeper. When he told her to get in, she looked down at the water, and put just the tip of her hoof in, as if testing the water first. She then looked back up at him, a bit of a nervous look on her face.
"But what if I can't do it? I might drown!"
She withdrew her hoof and stood there on the edge of the lake, peering down in to the water, his expression still a bit nervous.
