"That's alright. I understand." he said with another nod and a friendly smile. His attempt at conversation seemed to be slowly going down the drain. But what was he to do? Copper shivered and hoped neither of them had noticed. He wanted to be somewhere out in the open now. But it was Kasi's choice. And whatever she wanted he'd do. Somewhere deep down he wished Palla would leave. He wanted to talk to Kasi and stand closer to her just for comfort. Copper was still afraid that at any moment another fire would start and he'd lose Kasi for good.

For a moment, the stallion mused himself with trying to kick out dirt from his hoof, then got up. "Well, both of you look .. " He looked over the two for a moment. Burn, mud and ash covered. That was quite a scene. "Very muddy. " He said, unintentionally bluntly, but he himself hated to be covered in dirt. "The fire came from near the river, so you probably wouldn't want to go there. " He shrugged.
"But I know theres a pond nearby. I can take you there if you want. " He was trying to be friendly, ubt he couldn't help but feel insecure; he had no idea who this stallion was!
"Water! " Kasi beamed, and promply got up, waiting for her dad to get up off the ground, in that habit he'd been practicing long before she had been born; sitting down like a wolf, or feline. "Getup. " She demanded, nipping at her fathers ear and tugging at it. Perhaps she was neglecting Copper a bit, but she actually hadn't seen her father in months! What was she supposed to do?

Copper looked down and shuffled his feet uncomfortably. This moment was a bit awkward for him. He looked at Kasi and then at her father and for a little while thought about leaving and going the opposite direction. But looking at Kasi made him want to stay, even if it seemed Palla was breathing down his neck. He opened his mouth then closed it again and nodded. "Sound alright to me." he mumbled. No other stallion had ever made him so nervous. But maybe that was just because he had never liked the daughter of another stallion? He pondered this thought and watched Kasi tug at her dad's ear.

He smiled, only this time he wasn't faking, and instead, pulled his head away, kind of having a tug-o-war over the freedom of his ear, and winning quickly. "I'm up, I'm up. " He sai, and moved to walk back towards the direction he came for, and looked back as kasi trotted towards Copper.
"Copper! " She said, standing next to him and whispering in his his ear. "Lets race my dad! " She said, though the whisper was intentionally loud enough for her father to hear, and though she still hopped on three legs, and had just gotten out of a fire, she always loved playing. Thats how Kasi was; when she was upset or hurt, she allowed herself to be so strange to amuse herself, to make herself happy.
The stallion quirked a brow in amusement. Here she was again! Wantingto race. Pallaton had always beat Kasi in races, save for when she was a foal, and he lost to make her feel better about herself. He did that because he knew how much she loved to tease, to just fool around. And he could also see Kasi liked Copper, so it softened him up a bit. He was sort of gloomy either way, though. His other kids had grown up, Orlando had left, and now Kasi seemed to be like she would leave too. She didn't live with them anymore, as Sunflash didn't, and sometimes.. It was just odd to watch them go. Especially Kasi; she had been around the longest.
"I bet I'll beat you again. " He teased Kasi. "and I'll even not use my hoof. " He nodded, raising his right hoof and hopping around to show he meant it. He liked to be fair!

Copper gave her an uncomfortable smile but nodded. "Alright." he said. He too hopped around on only three feet to make things fair. He wasn't as used to it as Kasi probably was so he was having difficulties. The next thing he knew he was on the ground laughing a bit at himself for not being able to walk on three legs. "How do two leggers walk on only two legs?" he asked curiously. Then he cleared his throat in embarrassment and stood up. He blushed a bit and hoped no one noticed.

"Twoleggers! " Palla laughed, hopping around on one hoof rather well; when you had a kid like Kasi, you did crazy stuff fairly often. "I was being enslaved by one when I met Ro. Well, kind of met her. " Do you call it a meeting when there are no introductions, and you don't see eachother?
"Crazy little thing. " He shook his head and snorted. "Was a runt, bout as high as my shoulder. " He said, looking at his shoulder. That was about right. "Insisted on having me carry her all over the place! Maybe they don't like walking, because its too awkward with only two legs. "
"Okayokay. Now go! " Kasi had heard this many times, and at her own go, she started to hobble-gallop, rather well, though not an extremly fast thing. Pallaton shot a bemused glance at Copper's clumsiness and started off after his daughter, pulling up next to her.
"You know, how are you supposed to get to the water.. " He said, then pulled up ahead of her. "If you don't know where it is? " Though he did his best not to use his front hoof differently than Kasi did, her shoulder was sort f sore aswell, so he had an unintentionall advantage.
So here he was, pretenidng to be lame on his front right, and leading two younglings to the water! Nice.

Copper shivered at the thought of being treated as a slave by two leggers. Never, ever, would he allow such a thing. Suddenly he found that he was alone. His eyes widened and he chased after Kasi and Pallaton. Then he remembered the three leg rule. He had to stop and raise a foot and then start running again. It was difficult but he figured that if everyone else was doing it then he'd look even more dumb if he didn't. "I'll just...catch up in a sec." he yelled after them when he fell to the ground for the second time. He got up and tried again unhappily.

"Copper! " Kas shouted, stopping, and her father stopped too, looking back at the younger stallion. "Ya gotta hop! " She demonstrated, hopping around, though the tip of her hoof still touched the ground slightly, just gingerly pushing herself up a bit. "Its fun! When you get used ter it. " She said, smiling, covered in mud, but smiling.
The stallion looked at his daughter, ears perked a bit. For some reason, he sort of missed Ro right now, and he also wnated to continue to see if he had any luck in locating his son, Orlando, and Sunflash too. Maye he'd just stay with them a bit, then be on his way, though he scoldingly regretted leaving Kasi alone with Copper.

He smiled. "Like this?" he asked and did almost the same thing as her. He looked at Palla curiously with a grin on his face. But he seemd to have a very stern expression so Copper's grin faded. Maybe he should've left when he'd had the chance? He could tell the slightly older stallion disliked him. He sighed. "Kasi...Can I...Talk to your dad alone?" he asked. He wanted to make things better between them. Maybe if he talked to him? Told him that his intentions were good?

"Huh? " Kasi quirked a brow. Oooh, this was rather crappy. She looked at her father, who was looking blankly at them, eyes unfocused, ears relaxed boredly to the side. She actually wasn't to fond of the idea of leaving her dad to talk to Copepr; it sounded stupid. Not to mention annoying; Copper didn't know her dad. For what reason would he ever need to talk?
She did notice that her dad seemed uneasy about Copper, but that was just dad. He had always acted with unease about a lot of what she did, and he had probably noticed how attatched she'd gotten to Copper, and she saw no reaosn for Copper to want to talk in private-- unless it was really something to do with her. And she felt annoyed at the idea of men talking over her, as she had inherited some of her mothers temper.
The mud had started to dry, and get annoyingly itchy against her skin, and she hopped to the side a bit, trying to distract from the itch. Especially a little blot riight there, just over her eyebrow, that for a moment, the urge to itch was unresistable and she lowered her head to rub against her good leg, nearly losing balance. "But we gotta get to water. " She shrugged. She wanted to get rid of the mud, especially if flies might start to show up. Flies were so annoying!
He didn't get why the stallion seemed to shirnk after he smiled at him. Had he really been doing anything? He had just been waiting, hadn't he? Bah, weirdo.
"We goin'? I wanna see if I find Sunflash! " Sunflash, his shy son((funny how both hiss sons were kind-of shy?)). Ha! He wondered how that'd be handling without Kasi; she managed to be loudmouthed enough for both of them, and the palomino stallion was sure Sunflash felt more comfortable meeting others when Kasi was around, it took most of the attention away from him. Now, he couldn't help but amuse himself over the idea of Sunflash meeting someone without his sister around to constantly break the ice.
He looked over his daughter and shrugged when he caught his eye for a moment, then he turned to look around at the area. He was sure the pond had been that way, a continuation of the river curving somewhere into the treeish place, but soon after it moved out and formed a 'c' shape in an area with few trees or bushes. He tohught they might feel a bit better away from things that.. burned.
(( ha, didn't think this would come out so big xDD ))

Copper realised his mistake almost instantly. Kasi seemed unhappy and her father looked as if he was about to start laughing at him. "Never mind." he said now in a bad mood. Why did he try? He straightened up boldly and refused to wince whenever her father looked at him. He would not be considered a wimp. What was love doing to him? It made him strong but weak. How confusing. He looked Palla in the eyes with determination. As if looks would get his message across to him. He was probably making even more of a fool of himself but he didn't care. He decided to go out on a limb..."I love your daughter." he said randomly and simply. He figured they already knew but...
Before Pallaton could say anything else he stumbled to continue. "Before you get angry...Let me explain. There's no one who's ever been more perfect for me and I don't want to part with her. If I was forced to, there would still be a part of me that would still be with her, and she'd still be with me. I know you don't approve of me...I can tell. But if you'd...If you'd both just give me a chance...." he blurted most of his feelings out with his eyes clamped shut and when he was done he opened them and clenched his teeth together instead.

okay. What the heck was he doing? At Copper's little blurting, Pallaton was rathe rindifferen,t he was looking at his daughter with more interest, because what Copper had said was probably supposed to be touching. But she didn't look at all pleased. "I never said anything. " The stallion said simply, still looking at his daughter rather than Copper.
"You think I don't approve of you, merely because we aren't 'buddy-buddies'. I am not an impatient stallion, and I don't judge emmediately. I just met you. " He shrugged. He really thought Copper was overreacting, though he could have tried harder to seem more pleasant. He still didn't get what he'd done to provoke this, however.
Copper might be suprised to see that while the palomino stallion seemed rather easy going about what had just been said, but his daughter, however, looked rather miffed. She was tired, she was itchy, and here they were, fussing over her destiny, what would happen to her.
Kasi, as was something very easy to notice, wasn't the type of girl who just loved having men want her and protect her and sweep her off her feet-er, hooves. To her, this was rather.. Embarassing, when mentioned out loud, especially if it was to her father. She was flustered, partially upset with her dad, for having made Copper want to say all this, but also at Copper.
If he were forced to separate from her? How could anyone force him to do that? Kasi didn't like this whole thing, acting like she didn't have her own choice. If her dad hadn't wanted them together and had somehow 'demanded' they be separated, she wouldn't obey him. And just the idea of Copper having thought about it that way, because of the way he worded it, annoyed her to a large extent. She liked to think of herself as independant, and able to make her own choices. Sure, the choice would be to stay with Copper either way, but she didn't want him to word it out for her, like she couldn't do it herself.
"Thanks for asking for my opinion. " She snorted, bitterly sarcastic. Her bad mood wasn't entirely by what had just been said; she was tired--- and to think she had also just woke up, not long ago!-- she was itchy, covered with mud on her left side, legs, and her eyebrow still itched. So she trotted up to her father.
"Which way is the water? " She asked quickly, and after it being pointed out, looked back at the two. "Now if you'll excuse me, I'ma gonna go get clean. " She snorted, shok her head, looking slightly upset, then trot-hobbled off, let those two deal themselves out-- go ahead! discuss her future! see if she cared.
Brows arched, Pallaton watched his annoyed daughter go off, and stood there for moments. He held back the urge to feel amused, it was just kind of nice.. She had her mothers temper! Though showed it alot less often. Rowanoak would probably have thought a bit of the same thing if he, Pallaton, had met her father and tried to discuss with him why he should be with her.
"Mares. " He sighed, then looked at Copper, with a sad sort of smile, kidn of sympathising with him. "Don't be alarmed. " He said quietly, looking back at Kasi once more. "She's not mad at you. Just a little.. Upset. " He walked a bit closer to Copper, sitting down in that canine-like way, though he was a bit shaken about his daughter as well, he figured Copper would be the most shocked; he'd expected Pallaton to be angry at him, not such a reaction from Kasi.
"Don't go after her yet-- She'll be in a better mood after she gets herself cleaned up. " He said, looking calmly into Copper's eyes. Now he was sure Copper was a good boy, so he was a bit more relaxed towards him. "Let her cool off a bit, then go talk to her. Sorry if I rubbed you the wrong way, but she had been for quite a long time my only daughter. A foolish, naive little filly, I can't help but feel a bit protective, now that she'd grown. " He said, then stopped, giving Copper a chance to say or do anything, paleish grey eyes peering curiously at Copper. Poor boy, didn't really deserve that.

((Poor Copper. x3 He thinks waaayyy too much. *Snugs him, only to be pushed away* Lawl. And have who get together? Kasi and Copper or...? xD))
Copper felt like he had been better off with her father's disapproval. He had not exactly been going for romantic but that had not been the reaction he'd expected from Kasi. He got the hint she thought he was planning out her life. "She's got it all wrong!" he mumbled to himself and shook his head. He was planning out his future and trying to discuss his feelings, not tell her what she needed to do! Did this mean she didn't like him as much as he'd thought?
And now he had her father's sympathy. Something he really didn't need. It wouldn't help at all. "I know I over reacted bur what could I do? I mean we don't need to be buddies but I wanted to make sure I had your approval. I don't get what I did wrong!" he said more to himself than anyone else and began pacing back and forth. "You're sure she's not angry with me?" he asked stressedly. He found that he too was in a rather bad mood and he was a bit sleepy. And to top it all off, the flies began to come. Oh how they bothered him picking at his burns and bleeding scratches.

Palla couldn't help but chuckle a bit not really about Copper looking stupid-- he was just so naive with mares! "Thats the thing about mares! " He smiled meekly. "You never know whats wrong. " The palomino stallion shook his head. He was slightly gratefull for Copper's muddy state, however. He was much more attractive to the flies then Pallaton, mudless and clean.
"Probably annoyed that you wanted my approval to start with. See, they like to think of themselves as independant-- and don't take me wrong, they are, or at least tomboys like Kasi and her mother. They like to participate in everything. " Really, they were tomboys. And tomboys had that habit of disliking the idea of men acting like they had to control things, or at least, Ro did. She liked to do just as much as he, even after having become a mother-- twice.
He turned his head for a moment to watch the vanishing blob that was Kasi, leaving view entirely behind a hill, which soon after, she'd surely find water. He soon turned his attention back towards the other stallion. "They come around eventually. Its just how they are. "

Copper couldn't believe he was so inexperienced in the matter. He'd met plenty of girls and had probably had plenty mad at him. But they'd all simply been friends. He took a large sigh and sat down. Not enough sleep made him a bit too dramatic. But now he knew how they were, so that was a good thing. "Thanks..." he said to Pallaton with a shrug. He too watched Kasi fade away from view. When he figured she might be cleaned off he'd go and say sorry to her. He hoped he could do this without Palla but he wouldn't mind if he came along as well.
