As Ahote exited the forest, he listened to Peaches as she caught up with him. He tilted his head to the side when she talked about their size.

"Well, I don't really think I'm small. I mean...maybe everything else it just big. And if you look at it that way, I don't find them foreboding or anything."

Ahote had never been bothered by his size. Even if some things looked a bit big for him to do, like climbing over a large boulder or something, he wouldn't let it bother him, and he went for it anyway. And most of the time, he was so determined, that he would usually make it. He looked over to Peaches with a smile.

"But it is nice to be able to talk to somebody and not have to look up all the time."

He chuckled heartily as they continued farther into the open field.

She thought for a moment to herself... Gee I bet he thinks I repeat myself too much. I should try to bring up something else to say.

As her tiny hooves stepped into the field that swirled with delicious greens and yellow she felt very much like a little filly. This would be a perfect place for a game of tag. Besides her legs needed to stretch from being cramped in the log. So, she paused in her excited state and walked a little in front of him. Definitely a good way to get a running start if her little legs would let her. Eyes twinkling she waited for just the right moment to start her little game.

Oh how she hoped he'd love to play too. Their game of hide-and-go-seek was a barrel of laughs, if not for the little menaces that kept interfering. Silly squirrels almost ruined the day for her.

"Wow... its so huge... you know what this means?

Smiling she bobbed her head stepping a bit ahead again till she could reach his shoulder just right. Then when she felt it was time she nudged him.

"Tag you're it!"

Running into a quick little canter she sped away from him as her agile little legs carried her swiftly through the tall grasses.

Ahote took a deep breath as they stepped out of the muggy air of the forest and out into the open field. The forest was nice, but it felt good to get a breath of fresh air.

As Peaches stepped in front of him, he grinned and tilted his head to the side a bit. She looked like she was planning something, but he couldn't tell what. But when she tagged him, and took off running, he was right on her heels. He stretched his legs as far forward as they could go, catching up to her and nudging her back on her rump.

"Ha! Now you're it!"

He didn't slow down at all, and curved to the side, swinging away from her, tearing off in the opposite direction. He turned a bit to see if she was following him.

Never would she had suspected that he was as crafty as she was. The thought amused her with an accompanying giggle not soon after.

As he bolted forward with the words, ""Ha! Now you're it!", she nearly stumbled with a wide surprise.

Wow he read me like a book didn't he? Oh he went the other way. She thought to herself as she reversed her direction.

With a flick of her tail she hurried after him, head bobbing up and down in her stride. Though she wasn't that fast, she was gaining on him. Releasing a joyous little laugh she followed after nearing closer to where he'd galloped off to. Thundering little petite hooves into the ground she reached out to nudge his right rump.

With a flick of her nose she bumped him and sped off cantering with a toss of her head, "Who's it now? hee hee."

So the other game was spoiled by some furry miscreants, this was much more fun. Turning off and on she watched for him cantering at a nice pace.

Ahote didn't even hear Peaches approaching, and was a little surprised when she tagged him back. He stumbled a little as she nudged him, but quickly regained himself and turned on his heels, speeding off after her.

He lowered his head, making it easier for the air to pass over him, giving him a little bit more speed. He wasn't paying too much attention to the ground he was running across, and that would explain why he fell flat on his face after his hoof pounded into a hole in the ground.

He laid there, a little dazed, staring up at the sky.

She ran with laughter in her heart and lungs veering away from him, her feet carrying her on short but agile legs. Right now he'd probably be tagging her in their little game, then it would be her turn to follow after him.

But, when she didn't hear him following she skidded to a halt, taking a chance that he was just being sneaky to catch her. Slowly peering around Peaches noticed he wasn't chasing her for a tag. At first her blue eyes scanning for him couldn't find the plucky little male that recently chasing her in their game.

Fear filled her heart he may of left. Frowning Peaches started making her way back, hooves stepping carefully now that she nearly collided with a rather ugly looking rock right at her ankles.

"Ahote?" she murmured picking through grasses and turf she just recently trotted through laughing a minute ago.

Peeking her head over a large growing patch of grass she found him lying there dazed and looking rather distant.

"Ahote? Hey are you alright?" she asked with concern hoping he wasn't seriously injured.

Peaches couldn't come to look at herself in the same light that someone she really liked got hurt because of her. The thought was a little scary and saddening all at the same time.

Ahote laid there dazed for a while, not moving. But when Peaches came and found him, he shook his head and rolled over onto his stomach. He quickly regretted shaking his head, as it made him slightly dizzy. He looked up at Peaches' blue eyes and smiled.

"Oops..."

That was all there was to it. He had tripped, and now he felt a little embarrassed. He was usually very light and quick on his feet, and now here he was, laying on the ground, having fallen over just because of a little ditch in the ground.

He looked up at Peaches and grinned.

"Yeah...I'm fine."

And suddenly, an idea came to him. Grinning widely, he found his feet, but stayed low to the ground. suddenly, without warning, he lunged forward into Peaches, knocking her over onto the ground, too. He was careful not to do it too hard so that he didn't hurt her, but enough to knock her down too. He rolled over her, trying not to land on top of her and crush her, and turned around to see what her reaction was.

Her eyes were circular and large on the verge of tears as she stared downward toward him lying there. Seemingly forever her gaze went on and on as if plummeting off a cliff to no return. Crystal blue now fading to ice they wet slightly as her mouth maneuvered clumsily to say two words. But when the tide changed its course and she found herself lying on the ground, the little usdia lost reaction for a moment.

She just lied there blinking like a deer caught in the headlights.

Her first reaction was to begin crying but what released slowly from her muzzle was the complete opposite. Instead of a mournful dirge of fear and distinct opposite was announced. From the tips of her hooves all the way to the bridge of Peaches' nose there erupted a giggle. First soft like the chiming bells the pale faces brought, then changing pitch to become louder and more defined. Though never annoying it was cute and unmistakable. Through her sadness she had found a sense of humor in his little charade, one that made her sides hurt with her silly giggle.

Trying to stand she flopped over laughing for this day was something she never experienced with anyone else before. She had a wonderful friend that the little gray mare cherished very deeply in her memories now and heart. So many new things to learn and try, but first she had to stop giggling.

Much harder than poor Peaches anticipated.

She just went on and on laughing till her sides burned even more with aches and numbing sensations, but the best thing was her smile was as wide and happy as it had ever been.

Finally after about ten minutes she caught her breath uttering one word back at him, tears streaming her cheeks from her giggle fits, "Silly."

It was all she could muster still controlling her laughter back into a more mellowed tone that was less of a strain on her aching sides.

Ahote stood up and looked down at Peaches. At first, he was sure she was going to cry, and immediately regretted what he did, even though it had been in a light-hearted manner. But when she erupted in giggles, he couldn't keep the wide smile off his own face.

He watched her struggle with he laughter, trying to get a breath in when she could, and this in turn urged on his own giggling. There they stood, two little ponies, giggling like maniacs at something that nobody else had seen. If anybody was to come up to them now, they would probably think they were insane.

After both of their giggles subsided, Ahote was still smiling widely, his own eyes tearing a little bit. When she called him silly, he chuckled a little bit and nudged her muzzle with his own.

"Nuh-uh!"

He chuckled again and sighed, still trying to catch his breath.

Peaches was still breathing hard as her giggles came in random little sputters. She was a bit miffed he had done such a thing, but on the other hand thankful he did. For you see life without surprises was extremely dull and rather boring if you left it that way. Not laughing was a sad as a bird whom could not sing or fly. Laughter was the joy in life, no matter if you cried or smiled, it still was a perfect harmony in an individual's personality.

Recently she had met a mare named Sweet Stuff. A mare of the soquili varitey which towered over the little usdia, but as adorable and affectionate as she. Almost like a mirror the seemed very much like sisters and wished each other well when they parted ways. Peaches felt very fortunate to make a new friend when she could, and Ahote who still was incapable of catching his breath was a dear one to her.

"Uh huh," she mused with a bright smile as her clear eyes twinkled that bright blue. She laughed with a toss of her head and winked at him, "You made me giggle do you know that?" Peaches sputtered pulling to her feet finally.

"You're silly cause I say so".

Now standing she still felt the quivers in her legs as Peaches balanced her weight. Now where would the day take them she wondered. He was full of surprises and she was curious what else he was hiding. Tilting her head she smiled and waited to see what he would do next.

Noticing a dandelion growing near her feet she gained an idea with a sheepish smile. Trotting over she held it near him under his chin as it hung out of her mouth. "Yep someone likes butter."

She hoped he got the joke that always made her smile.

Ahote slowly regained himself and stopped giggling, his breathing returning to normal. As Peaches did the same, he watched her, and realized that he was immensely enjoying his time with her. He had met many other Soquili and Usdia in his life, but there was something different about Peaches. He felt completely comfortable with her, and as he looked at her, his heart began to beat quicker, but perhaps that was due to the recent bout of uncontrollable laughter?

When she picked up the flower and held it under his chin, he tilted his head to the side a bit, a confused expression on his face.

"What do you mean? How can you tell that from a flower?"

He had never heard of that before. He hoped that she wouldn't be upset and wouldn't mind telling him how she knew that.

She giggled waiting but her mouth drooped as did the dandelion. Not to mention they had a horrible taste anyway. Was it something perhaps that only her mama had shared with her so very long ago she pondered.

"Oh," she began looking a bit embarrassed, "Well its actually something the two leggers do, but it was taught to my mother a long time ago. See the two-leggers make this stuff they umm put on their food to eat and is yellow called butter." She nodded with hopes he wasn't thinking her silly for a tricky way to explain what she was doing.

"So cause a dandelion is yellow its like butter. If you hold it under your chin on a sunny day you look yellow like the butter." She paused and looked for relief that she explained it well. Sometimes it was difficult to try and make things understandable, or at least the way you wanted them to.

She tilted her head and watched him feeling it flutter. Wow I must still be have those giggles. For a moment there I thought...

"So I say you like butter cause you're yelloooooow" she chirped giggling at him. Even if he didn't get the joke she wouldn't mind. Imagine what it was like when her mother first tried explaining what "butter" was.

"And again you're silly Ahote".

She flopped on her haunches and sat there blinking at him with those pretty blue eyes wondering what else they would do, a smile covering her face.. She loved playing with him and hoped those times would never go away.

Ah, that's why he didn't understand. He had never lived with the two-leggers. He only knew one, but he never saw him that often. But he followed her explanation as much as he could, not knowing what butter was. He smiled and bent over, picking up the dandelion that she had picked.

"Well, I don't know what butter is, but that sounds like a funny story. The two-leggers sound pretty funny."

He leaned forward and put the dandelion behind her ear, weaving it into her mane so it wouldn't fall out.

"Flowers are so pretty. And that one looks beautiful with your eyes."

He stood there smiling at her, saying nothing.

She had almost thought he didn't understand, but that was because he never really lived with those strange two leggers. She herself had glanced the one near Celendria's herd, but never really had gotten close enough to actual get to know the girl. Sometimes the girl would leave out treats for the herd which Peaches indulged in now and then. Perhaps those strange creatures weren't all that bad after all.

"Oh I see," she smiled with a little nod of her head.

"I really don't know two leggers that well myself but they are silly from what my mother used to say." She beamed brightly letting herself stare into his eyes for a bit. Hers were so, while his were natural with the hint of the wild wood in them. She really liked his eyes for they were full of spark and gentleness as her own.

Her surprise though was when he placed the flower behind her ear. She felt so special to receive such a charming gift, even though it was a common weed. It was the thought that counts, of course. Though she tried to hide it her eyes widened as her cheeks fully flushed to a deep raspberry that brought out the gray on her fur.

"You have really nice eyes too" she murmured wondering what flower she could place in his forelock as well. Maybe a deep red rose would suit him as reds really brought out the personality in someone. She drifted off for a bit pondering what to give him as she looked deeply into his smiling eyes.

There was that weird feeling again. The one that made her heart flutter and beat a little faster.

Ahote couldn't keep a wide smile from spreading across his face. Peaches was such a beautiful mare, and he was really enjoying her company. And it seemed that she was enjoying his as well. He was glad the he finally met another Usdia that he got along well with. He had met a few already, but none of them were great encounters like this one.

As he pulled his gaze away from Peaches' eyes, he looked off to the horizon. The sky was beginning to change colours as the sun began to set. He was surprised at how late it was already! He didn't realize they had been out for so long.

"Hey, Peaches...where do you live? Its getting late, and you should probably get home before it gets too dark. I don't want anything to happen to you. I'll walk you there."
