Me and my friends use them. Mostly one friend though. Last week we hung out and with nothing better to do, we pulled it out to mess with. She contacted someone and asked when they died. I had no clue of the date, so when the spirit got it correct, she got freaked out. Then we contacted my mom's uncle. I asked three questions and got freaked out myself. I don't know why, we've done it a dozen times. Once included a nazi that touched my friend's elbow.
Of course, I kept thinking that I was moving it myself without realizing it.
I guess it's not a good idea for me to use with the ouija board, because I'm afraid of almost anything.

I never used one (and most likely never will) but my brother did once in his old apartment. I remember him telling me that after he used it, strange things happened. He moved out a while after.

They say that using one summons spirits against their will and therefore you'll get a negative response sometimes. I had a rather creepy thing happen at a birthday party.. super smart spirit. o~o

When I was a child I had one of those, but no one wanted to use it with me. So it never really go used, I had read enough information about them to know better than to use them alone.

I only ever use rune stones and tarot cards. I don't even like dowsing rods at times. Ouija boards aren't fun, no matter what you think. A friend of mine tried the Japanese version called Angel-San and had bad luck for weeks.
I'd never buy one of those spirit boards.

I have now used one, but I made sure to be safe doing it. It's now the favorite "game" of my entourage as I call them. I also tried making one on paper and they had fun with that one too. I don't recommend you use one unless you know what you're getting into though. And something I've found to be true- you'll only come into contact with bad things if you think you are or try too. Even if you think it in the back of your head. So don't use a ouija board unless you know you'll only be talking to what you want to talk to and are confident about it. They also only invite entities if you don't make it clear that you only want to talk to those already there. And then if things start happening despite this, it may be because since you've contacted the entity and now they feel it's time to show their presence in other ways.
@Nerobi77 - There could have been more than one thing there. And from the sound of it whoever told you to stop was looking out for you. Sounds like you were either upsetting someone or empowering something bad.

That's odd...Even people who have innocently used Ouija boards -that is, thinking that they were just a game- have been hit by malevolent spirits or other odd phenomena. Are you saying that all of them were thinking "this could get ugly" in the back of their minds? I'm not saying that it doesn't make sense, I just find it hard to believe that even people who play with Ouija have a bad feeling that prevents them from contacting what they really wanna contact.

Well even people who think it's just a game have heard stories about stuff that happens with them. Just cause they don't believe it doesn't mean they think it's what may happen if it's more than just a game.

I'm trying to collect ouija boards. I already have two. One is 11 years old (I'm the only owner though. It was a birthday present when I was 11.) And one is pushing 40 years old. I bought that from an antique dealer. I think I would prefer to buy more from antique stores and dealers. I'm always hopeful that since these boards were previously owned, that they will have more personality.
I do believe it possible to contact spirits with a ouija board. Actually, just until last year, I didn't believe it. But since then I've had a few unexplainable experiences that have changed my mind.
In late October of last year (around this time every year I have a Halloween party with my friends), I brought my antique board. We lit candles and we all sat around it. We asked the spirit about himself, and it turned out he was a Nazi. I started to taunt him (mostly about gay people, if I remember correctly. I knew they were uber homophobes) and he seemed to be just an irritable spirit in general. But suddenly I felt someone brush my elbow. I shrieked, because nothing and nobody was near me to touch me. Before this experience, I believed ouija was just an overhyped board game, so I was perfectly relaxed before it happened.
The last time I had an experience, my bff and I were in my room. I'd recently gone to Charleston and had learned a bit of history. I remembered some names of people I wanted to try to summon to the board. I asked to speak to Lavignia Fisher, the first woman serial killer. I asked some questions about her, just to confirm it was her. Again, I wasn't taking things very seriously. I asked in what year she died. ...And the board was correct. There is NO way my bff could have possibly known that, so it made me really happy that we'd tried something and it worked. Though I was talking to a serial killer, I didn't feel uneasy. This could have been because she only killed men sweatdrop
I look forward to this October when I can try to summon more spirits.

I used to do Ouija Boards all the time to talk to my spirits when I'm around other people that I know are not going to push it.
I was talking to a sixteen year old boy through a Ouija Board who had commited suicide by jumping out the window of the third floor of a hospital, the same room my friend and I were using it.
He used Ghost Code, or at least that's what he called it.
He said to us when we asked him why he killed himself,
6 N 6XD
translation: Six Needles Six Times A Day.
He also pointed out words that made no since in just trying to read them, but if you try to pronouce it, you'll get it.
I had it all recorded, but I am unable to find it now. But yes, he was probably using Ghost Code.

for the love of (enter person or thing of worship here) do not use a ouija board unless you are with a medium who can close the door that you open. Yes you can get good spirits, but then you can also get bad spirits pretending to be good. It has happened to my aunt, she opened the door and something came though. It killed her pet guinea pigs, and we know they just didn't die from being old, their necks were broken, heads turned almost completely around. Using it in a difernt place does not help, the spirit cana ttach itself to you. It followed my aunt to two homes before she called a medium to help get rid if it. I don't care if you dont believe me, but please please PLEASE only use one with a medium.

The first and only time I used a ouija board, I didn't cast the protective circle right. My friend who'd had the most contact with the spirit (it was in her house) became very sick later that night. She thought she was dying. The spirit might have tried to possess her (so we were told). My other friend and I got very little sleep, and my lights flickered whenever I spoke to my sick friend. I ended up blessing my house and my friend's houses, and I've refused to touch the board since. I think it's better not to meddle in affairs I can't control. There are good spirits, and there are bad spirits. I don't want to tempt fate. Quote: I don't recommend you use one unless you know what you're getting into though. And something I've found to be true- you'll only come into contact with bad things if you think you are or try too. Even if you think it in the back of your head. Really? My friends and I were nervous before attempting it, but we felt very easygoing during the process. I only remember that we were talking to a "girl" and she'd apparently lived in the house several decades back. It felt like we were talking to a friend while we were using the board- we laughed a lot. Afterwards, not so much. Even if I attempted it again, if mindset taints the process as you say, I would only draw on my past experience and have mostly the same results.

It doesn't matter whether you're thinking about bad spirits or not. They come REGARDLESS of what is in your mind. The ouija board is a portal and demons will enter merely on the fact that they can. So you either come in contact with one or not.
