How long? Edward turned his head to look back to Ronan at the question. A glance to Lily and then back to the colored male when his mate-to-be answered. A half shrug was given by the alchemist with his free shoulder. "I don't know either" said he. He had figured the whole way.. but... just how far were these two planning to go? And to do what? He and Lily didn't know much about this trip. He could stick it out the whole way, but there was Lilianna to consider. She'd never done anything like this before, and he didn't want to over tax her. He would keep an eye on her, and if it looked like it was getting too hard for her.. they would go back.
As Lily leaned against him, Edward rested his head atop of hers, a thoughtful look on his face. Anything could happen on this trip, and as much as he wanted to go the whole way... well... who knows what might come up. Even if his automail became damaged, he would have to go back for repairs.

"Don't know, don't know...." Heh, two answers in the same. Not that he could blame them with how short notice this trip was. Some trip, but they always did manage to get by. "I guess it all depends on how long endurance lasts." It was more a case of listening to the body more than the mind on this sort of activity. Ronan didn't mind how far they tagged along; it'd make for fun company. A pop was given as the crab busted open, and Ronan proceeded to eat the sea meat.
Setsumi blinked at the responces, eyes flicking back to the juice. It was her fault, she supposed, with how little detail she gave of the trip. Afterall, at the time it was just a solution to getting away. Still was, in her own case. Her free paw moved up and a claw dipped in the juice, spinning lazily within the bowl. "Well, the jungle is the last clear location on this trip. After that, Ronan and I have different roads to trail." That was at least already set before they actually left realm. Had been for the longest time, actually. She gave a soft sigh, matching that of the sea breeze before peering up to the couple. "But that's not till a few days."

Endurance. Yes... Liliana wondered how much she could endure herself. Surely more now than before she started training. More then than before Hemi had been born. More then than before she started to venture from study and home. She nodded slightly, thoughtfully. Not enough to even jar her betrothed's head where he rested upon hers. If wither of them became too worn... or if Daddy sent word about Aunt Ginny's eggs... yes... she would like to go home to see the new kits. But would it bother Edward? Another batch of kits who quite possibly could reach their full growth before he did? A warmth fully inappropriate for this time of day especially in present company washed through her. Quickly Liliana pushed such thoughts and feelings away for the moment as well as she was able. No use for such thoughts now!
Setsumi's words surprised her. Beneath the alchemist's head her crimson one tilted slightly, confused green eyes searching to meet the older female's. "You're not going on together after that?"
A silent 'but why?' was asked by her eyes, not repeated in voice. The notion left a soft sadness in her, wondering; suspecting that for the seasoned friends this was not some adventure outing that perhaps she had believed it to be.

Well his endurance wasn't really in question here. The desert was pretty rough on him, but he managed through that. He didn't think there would be anything worse at this point. However, the alchemist frowned a little at Setsumi's statement of she and Ronan splitting ways. "What was the point of this trip? Its obviously not some get-away vacation." The two of them seemed to have a set goal or purpose in mind, and well... Edward didn't like being left in the dark. He didn't expect much of an answer from Ronan... but maybe Setsumi would enlighten them a bit.
Either way, Edward would stay with Lilianna... whether she decided to go back home or keep traveling. It didn't matter to Edward. Neither of them had nothing to accomplish on this trip really. They were just the tag-a-longs.

Now that was some good, fresh crab. The shell was discarded over the male's shoulder as his ears perked aa the topic deepened. Mostly by the red femme's surprised tone. Was it that shocking? Afterall the trip was something the two adult's had set in mind for the longest of times, since it was basically ritual. He shrugged lightly, peeking at the purple female with a raised brow. "We both have things to do at our own pace, it's nothing more than that." To split would only help make it go by faster. As for distance, there wasn't that much seperating them if anything drastic were to occur.
Setsumi let a small laugh pass through her lips, shaking her head to Edward. "You're a prodigy Edward, I'm sure you sensed something like this coming." Green eyes glanced at the younger female for but a moment, before her feathered face tilted down to look at the bowl in front of her. True, it wasn't an honest vacation, but it was still a get away. "And Ronan's correct, we have different tasks to handle." But, I intend to make this a one way travel." At least for the time being. She found no reason to u-turn back to realm, and quite frankly found no motivation to do so.

Why would it not be shocking? Of anyone, Lily was the least informed about any part of this venture. All she knew was that Ed had been intending to leave with his 'mother' ... and when she had changed her mind had invited her along. More than that... well she had not really had much time to give it any thought, had she? But Ronan's answer made sense, in a way. It just was not something she had expected...
Her thoughts wandered, as Setsumi's words to Edward reminded her he was a prodigy. As she was with potions, though Lily imagined her beau was much more gifted in his alchemy. But that was not where her thoughts drifted, face heating beneath her crimson fur. No... Liliana was for the first time thinking of what little prodigies their own kits might be. Thinking about it and smiling in a silly way.
Until suddenly she snapped back. "You're not coming back... at all." It was both statement and a question. The green eyes, half closed while she was daydreaming opened one gazed softly at the seasoned female. The idea saddened her, though Lily could not put her paw on why. She wondered if Terasu knew his mother did not intend to return. Wondered if Ed who thought of her as a mother knew. How would he react if he did not? Selflessly, the petite femme snuggled into her mate-to-be in a supportive manner. Ed would need her. That much she was sure of.

It was true.. he had known something was up for awhile, but that didn't mean he was perfect nor psychic. He didn't know anything of Setsumi's problems, and next to nothing at all about Ronan. They kept their secrets well.
"What?!" was Edward's surprised cry, his voice and expression giving away the fact that he was mortified by what Setsumi said. She wasn't going back? Ears flattened back and his attention seemed to focus solely on his 'mother', barely noticing Lilianna's support. "What do you mean? Why?" The teen sounding almost like a little child, but one could hardly blame him. He's dealt with loss a great deal in his previous life... and the thought of losing his motherly figure in this life, did not sit well with him.

All features of play fell from Ronan's face, not expecting Setsumi to have said that. He knew it was a possibility, but not one she'd say aloud. Quietly, he turned his attention onto some food to let things be. However they may go.
The older female just dazed at her juice, clearing her thoughts into some form of organization. Her head shook numbly of it's own accord to answer Lily's question. The matter of time was still something she hadn't made a solid decision on, so for now, it might as well have meant no returning. Ears pinned back at Ed's raised voice, and her eyes drifted over to the boy. It made her stomach churn and maw frown, even as she still rested calmly against her paw. "My role is over Ed, it's as simple as that." She felt uncomfortable, never recalling to ever reveal her own issues to anyone but Ronan. And to speak them to the younger kitsus made her shorten her explanations out of embarrassment. "And I just need to do some soul searching, now that all my bonds are worn." At least she'd leave with the comfort that Edward finally had family and Terasu had dependable friends.

Hot tears burned her eyes as the winged female tried to comfort the alchemist. At the same time, sympathy reached out for Setsumi as she wondered what could have happened to her that her ties were worn. What about Terasu? What about his father? What about Edward? Sure... she and Edward were together, but as Lily was coming to realize there was nothing to take the place of a mother in one's life. It had taken the crimson femme too long to discover that herself, and now she did not wish to imagine life without Nari.
She did not speak her questions or worries. Where the conversation now tred was between 'mother' & 'son' and Liliana would not intervene. But she did wrap her tails softly but firmly around his own & reached a paw over him to stroke gently against the flesh of his left paw where he would feel it. Silent support. If only Ed would accept it. She ached to know he was hurting, but what more could she do?
Then a small whisper of sadness. If they had kits.... if Setsumi was still away... how would they tell her the news? She could apparate any of the places she had been, hope the feathered female was near one of them. Liliana put a muffle on such thoughts for the moment. When the time came... she would find a way. Somehow.

Ed would not stand for it.. being far too stubborn and opinionated, they had to expect he wouldn't let it drop at that. Paws clenched into fists and he grit his teeth, his head dipped as Setsumi's words sunk in. Then, fiery golden eyes turned on his 'mother', "That's bullshit and you know it! You're just giving up, instead of facing your problems.. whatever they are." He had no idea what was ailing Setsumi, but something obviously was. His strong language a good indicator at how upset he was.
"What are we supposed to do? Just pretend that we're happy that you left us? What about Terasu, what about me? What about the kits we have someday, don't you care about them?! Don't you want to be there for them?!" His voice was angered, but really.. the only way he could express his grief at the moment was through anger. "How can you put this burden on me! I have to tell Terasu that you're not coming back!" How incredibly... selfish of her.. all of it.

The reactions of the red kitsu unsettled Setsumi dearly, knowing that the other was prone to emotional rollercoasters. "Please understand, I only told you this so you'd have a decision made by the time we reach the jungle." The palms crackled in sound as she lifted herself to sit upright, eyes still downcast. If anything, she could still call it a vacation, just with the dates extended far in between. Her chest moved in a deep sigh as Ed spoke up, knowing he'd be the difficult one. One brow raised in a dry attempt of amusement and her ears flitted level with the ground. "Aren't I allowed to have this one moment of bullshit myself? Besides, I didn't give up....I'm just merely responding." Still, she did feel guilt when comparing her own minute ailings to all the ones Edward had endured.
"What do you mean what are you supposed to do? I'm still on vacation, nothing more." It was the one thing she'd ever pressed for herself, and it was being denied. She could understand their views, but frankly they knew nothing of her own. That was her fault as well. And so she paused for a moment, peeking at Ronan before continuing with that tidbit. "My problems, you really wish to know? The bonds I speak of are between myself and my own mate." Green lifted to glance at gold and fainter green. "I'm truly glad you two have realized the strength of your own bond." And that was enough to get the point across. Surprise did cross her face at the mention of kits. Yes, that was something she couldn't afford to miss, for either boys. But that was a promise that didn't get to leave her tongue as Ed continued on. "Terasu already knows the chance of me staying...." And it seemed her other son was realizing too the pressure of life changes.

Actually, the crimson femme was far too engrossed in the others to stop and think about her own feelings beyond concern for them. Her sensitive, sheltered ears flinched and flattened at the crude language, but Liliana commented not upon it. There were more important things.
"Edward..." She pleaded softly when her voice returned, her heart thinking of him & going out to his 'mother'. What could possibly be wrong with her & her mate? Sure, Lily had never met the feathered femme's mate -the one who shared the same name as her 'Uncle' Ember's oldest boy- but she knew mates did not have to be together 24/7; there were plenty of logical reasons they had never met. Plus, it was not as if she nd Setsumi were particularly close. "Edward... is it really much different than the original reason you were going to go? Time away? Time to think, away from what's hurting?"
She spoke while nuzzling consolingly against him, unable to manage a reassuring purr. Seemed those were her brother's specialty -Lily could only purr when alone with the alchemist...
Softly she turned just enough to seek out Setsumi's green eyes with her own. She was blushing still, the thought of kits -hers & Ed's- being something that out of her paws Lily had been unable to stop thinking about. "May we try to find you, at least? When there are kits..." Her whole body heated at how she had skipped any 'if'; evidenced by the darkening of white in the fur of her tails. "May we seek you out or send for you, bring you home to see them?" There was a gentle, sad pleading in her gaze. She wondered if Endless was leaving his home to get away from the pain she had caused him in similar fashion, and wondered if Setsumi's mate knew what he was doing to the lovely feathered female. Did he not love her?

For Edward.. it seemed that some events in his previous life, were repeating themselves in this one... and it hurt. Edward listened and his ears stayed flattened at Setsumi's words. A pained look crossing his features at both the realization that something had happened with Setsumi and Elian.. and Lily's soft reassurance. The pain was not for himself, but for his adoptive mother. A gentle nudge was given to Lilianna, letting her know that he had heard her and wasn't ignoring her, before approaching the feathered female.
The alchemist embraced Setsumi, "What did he do to you?" Edward asked in a hushed tone that seemed to be laced with venom. If Elian had hurt Setsumi.. then Ed would give some words and maybe even a fist, if he ever saw him. He had only ever met Elian once, but he remembered him well enough. She didn't have to answer his question if she didn't want to.. and whether he did or not, the alchemist pulled back. He didn't want Setsumi to leave, especially if it meant permanently. Parents were something he could never seem to hold onto. With Lily's questioning about her seeing their kits in the future, he also waited for an answer.

Lily seemed to understand, if not in the most simplest of ways with Setsumi's limited give of evidence. And that's what kept being repeated in the purple females mind, like a comfoting mantra. It's just time away, time to think. Her ears turned back as Lily gazed to her, and the topics of kits were brought up once more. She had no doubt the family would grow for them, as obvious as the faint glow to Lily's flush. A soft smile and nod was given in reassurance. "That's perfectly fine, even use of those communicators would make due."
The shifting movement of the teen kitsu made her pause, and she almost flinched as he approached. Would he strike out of anger, like he had so many times with Roy? Instead, she found arms around her, and her insides sunk with a hollow echo. His question made her ears dip, and her eyes hid unfocused at the red cloth he bore. "Nothing was done, Edward." Perhaps it had been her all along, too uptight with the definition of being mates to the point that it crumbled. She didn't know, and could only sit in the after effects. "We've just parted ways, it was too difficult to pretend anymore." But she didn't even know who had been pretending. Her, for pausing and bothering to start a family? Or him, with devotion torn in two?

Liliana simply sat where she had been, watching softly as Ed hugged the female who had been a mother to him. She did not know what to do, if in fact there was anything she could do. Except be there for when the alchemist needed her. She could do that. She would do that. Always.
"I'll give you mine then." The winged female said softly, tails curling around her gold tipped paws and hiding them from view. Her gaze was downcast and sad, but still raised enough to be able to see the others. "I'm sure Daddy put a trace on me before I left." There was a soft happiness to that thought, one of feeling cared for even when away. Lily wished she could share the feeling with the others.
