Kiyoko was back in the city of her childhood, apparently at a time when the war ended and both man and beast were living together in peace. There were no more quarntines or shanty houses, but everyone had equal rights and freedoms. There was no pain, or uneeded deaths....
As she walked down a busy street, she saw two people going to the same workplace, talking to each other cheerfully. While one was obviously human, the other had horns coming out of his head and a tail was swishing back and forth to his walking. "So, are you looking foward to the big game this weekend?" asked the human in the red suit. "Oh yeah! I've been looking foward to it for months. I sure hope the Rabbits win." replied the mutated man in blue. "Same here. Hey, why don't you and the other guys come to my house to watch the game? I've already got most of the shopping done." "Sounds great! Looking foward to it." replied the second man cheerfully, his tail swishing in a more happy tone.
Looking out into the city, Kiyoko saw many more people like this, all happy and talking to each other. Kids of both normal and mutated states were playing with each other, caring about what's on the inside of a heart, and not the outside......
Kiyoko continued to sleep peacefully, when she felt something nudge her. "huh...wha?" she slowly opened her eyes to see a man staring at her.......the same one that transformed back down at the beach. "WAAAH!" Startled she jumped back, and the wings came out of her body, out of pure instinct. She fell backwards out of both exhaustion and the unpreparedness of her wings coming out so quickly, and thankfully landed next to the lake and not in it.

"Well, that was...quite funny to watch." the boy couldn't help but comment at the girl leaping backwards and the wings sprouting from her back. Jumping ontop of the rock, he looked at her for a moment "Outsider, what are you doing in my territory? I've never smelled you before..." he said referring to the particular scent each person had and thus how he could most of the time tell most people from his own town and an outsider. Looking at her, he leaned forward a bit with a curious expression before sighing "Don't tell me you came from that place too?" he said, pointing to the city above. Maybe she was another like that girl who couldn't manage a transformation, he never DID get her name...

Namine walked along the town with Maya. Many of the townsfolk were staring at her curiously. Maya was such a nice girl she was no longer afrain of Namine but instead walked proudly beside her. Staring back at anyone who stared at her...almost daring them to challenge her. Namine rewarded Maya by swishing her tail at her. Maya giggled and said " That tickles! Hey Namine you are really pretty and not scarred like so many here...Where are you from?"
Namine looked at Maya and explained to her all that had happened in her life..leaving out the more graphic parts..and even the fact that Shinsei was a total p***k to her. Maya wide eyed took it all in. When Namine was done the child hugged her tight and apologized for all she'd been through. "It's not your fault my dear..those were my circumstances but now I have escaped and I want to start anew. And guess what Maya? I've made a friend already". Maya jumped up and down excitedly "yay" she said "I'll take care of you..no worries Namine". Maya's gesture warmed her heart. "Maybe things would be different here?" she said to herself. She thought about Shinsei and rolled her eyes..He would probably never warm up to her but she guessed she owed him now since he didnt leave her to die. "oh Namine lets go to the river I can show you this pretty rock I found" said Maya. "Sure..lets go" Namine said. They walked hand in hand towards the river. As they neared Namine smelled Shinsei's scent in the air. She didn't want to face him right now..he would just tease her and sour her mood..so Namine was glad when Maya pulled her in the opposite direction. Maya ran ahead of her and plunged her hands in the water playing at some imaginary game. Namine sat on a boulder gazing up at the floating city. The wind swirled around her and lifted her hair making it come alive her ears swaying gently. Maya looked at Namine just then and told her "Gee..Namine did I tell you that you're pretty and your hair is beautiful..not just your long dark hair but your tail and ears..Its hard to believe you went through so much". Namine smiled at Maya "Thank you" she said tears wetting her eyes. She held out her arms to Maya who rushed into them gladly.. and they held each other.. Namine's tears soaking the childs hair.

Nebula listened intently to the words of the officer. “Yes sir!” She responded with just as much zeal as the others. A few more seconds of silence and uncertainty before the rest of the knights relaxed, some checking out the view, some taking seats and getting to know one another. For her, it would be a window. She walked over to one nearby, gazing out toward the city bustling with civilians going about their business in peace. It was them she was doing this for, they who deserved the peace that was now being threatened. “This is for you.” She whispered to herself as the shuttle began moving.

"I'm glad you found that oh-so-amusing." Kiyoko replied, her heart still pounding from the sudden surprise. Who was this guy? Most people would at least be nice enough to wake her politely. But he didn't harm her yet, so mabye he wasn't all bad.
"As to where I came from, I haven't been to the "city" since I was ten. As soon as the mutation, as much as I hate calling it that, spread in my body to a noticable point," she paused and pointed to her wings. "I was forcefully cast away and shunned. My parents......died trying to stop those wicked officials. I've lived in quaritine for a long time, on some sort of far away isolated area. I was finally able to escape, although I had to fly three days straight over water. So....I pretty much just got here and I am totally lost!" She ended with a small laugh. "And honestly, I can control my wings, it's just that scaring the crap out of me kinda brought out an instinct defense action."
She stood back up, but it took effort, and she leaned against a tree for support. "So, if you don't mind, can you tell me who you are?" She asked curiously, a warm smile on her face.

Shinsei folded his arms and stood up, taking a step off the rock as he dropped to the ground below, moving forward towards her, he had to look down to see her completely so he took a few steps back to keep her in sight without having to turn. "The name's Shinsei...you could say I'm the...head hancho of this place. This is a home for those cast aside...I see you are one such person. Then you're welcome to stay here, it's not much...but it's all we've managed with no help from anyone with real resources..." he said, pointing up at the floating city before turning around. "You're the second visitor we've had today...the first must be running about somewhere with Maya...she's not too far, I can smell her." he said calmly as he sat down and dipped a palm into the water lightly before pulling it out. The water seemed clean enough...but it wasn't quite drinking water...he took a slight sip regardless and shook his hands dry, an immune system used to the harsh environment taking the unhealthy minerals and trace toxins from the brew.

The brown haired boy seemed uneasy within the confines of the shuttle, seeing so many others eager for battle, he was truly a commodity as he folded his arms and leaned against the back of his seat tensely. "This is so wrong...I didn't want to be a warrior...I just wanted to help." he said aloud as he hit his head against the window lightly a couple of times before sighing heavily. The thought of having to fight creatures like that hybrid was slightly unnerving.

Wow, this was just her luck. Out of all the people that randomly ran into her, it was the head guy of the city. Well, that explains his curiousity, and helping that girl (the first visitor), so this makes much more sense. she thought.
Seeing him sit down, she let herself slide back down to the ground, and sat against the tree. "Thank you kindly. And I'm sorry if I wasn't supposed to fall asleep down here. I didn't mean too...." This was true. She wasn't feeling all that energized to begin with, and now she seemed completely wiped out. I guess that would be normal after flying for three days without landing. Her wings felt a bit sore, but she shrugged off the pain and watched the fish in the water.

She couldn’t help but overhear the disheartened mutterings of someone near her. Nebula turned her head to see a skinny pale thing tapping his head against the window. Slight confusion mixed with some amusement crossed her face and she glanced around the place. Everyone else seemed to be having a good time. Excitement and anticipation gave the air a vibe, and here this guy was sitting there, kinda touching the window with his head. Could at least smack your head like you mean it. She thought, smiling slightly. She walked over to where he was and took the seat next to him. "Whoa there, at the rate you’re pounding that head of yours, you’ll have major brain damage within ten minutes."

Namine wiped her tears and let go of Maya. "Hey Maya wanna see something cool?" Maya beamed at her "oh yes..show me! show me!"
"Ok..stand back" Namine said. She wasn't sure if this would work but she wanted to imress Maya and lighten the mood. Maya seemed to like her hair and tail so she wondered if she could change her appearance. She had done it before but that was due to an experiment that caused her to go berserk. Namine counted to 10 and willed her mutation to take form in the image she conjured in her mind. Namine's dark hair shortened some what and spread througout her body covering in a shining midnight black fur. Her face elongated till she resembled a fox her body was following suit so she quickly discarded her clothes before she damaged them. She hunched over and landed on all fours. When the change was complete a beautiful black majestic fox the size of a person stood where Namine once stood. Maya watched in awe. "Oh Namine..you are wonderful..just wonderful." Maya ran towards her nuzzling her neck. "Your fur is so shiny" Maya said as she ran her hands down the length of her back. Namine licked her face and motioned for her to climb on her back. Maya did so and giggled when Namine rose. "Hang on tight" Namine said as she jumped from place to place with Maya on her back. "I did it!" Namine thought "I finally changed my appearance of my own free will". Maya was enjoying herself very much as they played by the river in a game of tag. They had been at it for a bit and Namine suddenly felt tired. She walked to the boulder where her clothes where and laid down to rest. She called to Maya who came towards her quickly "How about we rest now?" Namine asked "Come here". Namine used her long brilliant tail to bring Maya close and wrapped it around her body. She brought Maya close and curled like a ball around her..eventually they both drifted to sleep.

Looking at the girl and how weak she seemed, he sighed lightly. "Anything I can do to help you out? It's not a good idea to sleep out here too long or you could get caught by the knights. We have food and water in town if you need it, feel free to go in when you feel you can and use my name if you need food. They'll put it on my tab and I'll trade it off when I get the chance." he said as he pointed towards where the town was and looked towards the direction he could smell Maya and the girl. Deciding it would be a good idea to at least check in, he looked back at the winged girl "I have to go check on my other guest, I'll be heading into town later. Can you make it into town on your own or do you need help?" he said as he shifted his hands into his pockets and looked back in the direction he had to go in.

"I'll make it, thank you though. I've got some money with me, so you don't have to pay anything. I just need food and some rest, I'll be fine." She replied with a smile. She didn't want him to worry about his other guest too much, and she already made it this far on her own. Standing up, she grabbed her bag and put it over her shoulder, and concealed her wings again. Now, other than the two gaping scars that could be seen through the self-made holes in her dress, she looked semi-normal. "Oh! Silly me, I never told you my name! I'm so sorry! Where IS my mind today?" she realized. "I'm Kiyoko." Thinking real quickly, she realized that she had no idea where to find a place to sleep. "Sorry to take your time, but I've just got one question. Do you know any place to get some rest without fear of getting caught by those knights?" She shivered at the thought of getting caught by those horrible things, the same ones that took away her home and family...

"Well, most people occupy a building, but I suppose you can use my place. I rarely stay there, I just keep keepsakes in there and objects I salvage when I wander about. When you get into town, just ask anyone around, they know where I live..." he said before turning around and walking away a bit before stopping. "Get well soon, and don't worry if some people are shy...it's natural living the life we do, you understand?" he said calmly before he ran off a bit into another direction as he switched from behind tree to tree as he saw a large fox with Maya sleeping on it. Leaning against the tree, he smirked slightly "Well, looks like Maya found a new friend...that's good." he said calmly as he approached slowly, but kept a distance as he looked upon the scene as if it was a kodak moment in the making. Well, to think she warmed up so quickly is funny, but considering I put her in the care of Maya makes it less of a surprise...she's a good girl...sweet and kind. Damn...if only she had more people around her than just me. But...this girl seems to have a good grip on things... he thought to himself before turning around and leaning against a dead tree for a moment. "Sweet dreams you two..."

Namine's ears shifted as she smelled Shinsei. She sensed him nearby. She raised her head slowly so she wouldn't disturb Maya who lay cuddling against her. Her dark eyes scanned the area searching for him. She stopped when she spotted him signaling for him to move closer. Namine used her tail to pick up the sleeping Maya enveloping her in it. She wanted to hand Maya over to him so he could take her home. He knew better than she where Maya lived. Namine wasn't sure how long she would be able to stay in this form so Namine hoped that he could at least come towards her and take Maya so she could revert. Namine waited patiently not knowing wether he would come...wondering if the next words she would hear from him would be some smart remark.

Moving forward, he kneeled down and picked the small girl up in his arms as he looked down at the fox. "Hm, so you two seemed to be getting along quite well, that's good to see." he said in a hushed tone as he held the girl in his arms and moved some hair out of her face. "So, how do you feel now that you're fed and supplied with dry clothes?" he asked calmly as the girl stirred a bit in his arms and tucked herself into his chest and muttered a bit before soundly resting again.
