[Jk. It's short.]
((Janus))
The travel wasn't too bad, actually [read Magellan Wannabes for how non-event travelling normally works]. Smooth sailing, no battles (surprising!), and the old bird got him there in one piece.
And then there was the hotel.
It was always funny, really, how one little tiny hotel could attract so much big business. It only had 4 stories! Now, granted, it was a very nice facility. One of the best, truly. With its innovative tube-like design, gleaming white-glassed exterior, several gold adornments, and an inside rivaling any nobleman's palace, the place sure did have class.
But why the name "Grand Dakota"? They weren't even in a Dakota state, or at least where it had once stood...so strange. No matter what it looked like, thie place sure did rake in the dough. And without any main roads or sense of direction, that was saying something.
Hm. That's a new one. How did those big-business New Yorkers get here? Huh. Odd.
As soon as you pulled up to the diamond in the rough, Jona rushed out of the revolving crystal doors, donning one of his most comfy-looking leisure suits. His arms were wide open, and a smile was emblazoned across his well-aged, silvercapped head.
"Janus, my boy! What's the news!?"

I'm not your boy, Janus wanted to growl, but his foul mood due to lack of good eats was no reason to be hostile. The merc put on his best smile and strode over to Jona.
"Jona, pal! Hey! Great news, in fact- Renzt is out of the way. Very quiet, very quiet indeed."
Janus toned down his cheer, showing a feigned disappointment. He played like a child to a dad when he just couldn't finish something. Janus hated masking his true irritation and rage. Sometimes, however, it was best to play nice as long as you had to. Priority one was eating, right now, and this had to be done and over quickly.
"And my apologies. I was not able to deliver the young lady, but I've confirmed she was in yonder small town. If she's left, she hasn't gone far."
So get over it, you crazy coot.

The old man's mood changed not to one of anger, but more of...sadness.
"Well, then...it seems I'll have to have her killed. Shame. Anways," he continued with a sweeping gesture towards the lobby, "come inside! We'll make our way to the LeStrange. You know, our restaurant here? My treat? You must be famished! Come now, Janus, there's much to talk about!"
And with that, he turned on his heels and headed inside, bearing right towards a hallway that most definitely was not there before...

"Yes, of course! Thank you, thank you. I could use a bite to eat."
Janus pretended to ignore the peculiar appearance of a new hall, but took very sharp notice. He smelt foul play. Who was to say Jona's food wouldn't rot him from the inside out?
I don't trust you, old man, thought Janus, but quelled his suspicions for the moment. He could be jumping to conclusions. For the most part there was no reason to mistrust. Still...
Janus followed Jona with an easy stride, taking a good look around as he entered the building.

The place was very similar to its previous layout...everything was gold-adorned...real gold, too. The man had some kind of fetish for it. It was built much like a palace on the inside; roomy, glistening floors, large ornate pillars stacked next to the left-bound reception desk, a jovial air about it, worship corner to the Rozens...and elevators ahead. There was a small lounge are to the right now, decorated with comfy-looking leather sofas and the like. Also starboard was that hallway Jona headed off into. It bore no sign of a restaurant, but as Jona disappeared quickly by, a man strode past, donning a tuxedo and sporting a towel draped casually over his arm.
Probably...a waiter?
Hm. Well, it couldn't hurt to check, right?

Janus could relate with the fondness of gold (I mean, come on), but perhaps it was a bit overdone in the little lobby.
He turned and moved down the strangely new hallway, giving the waiter a simple nod of recognition.
Was he a waiter? Janus wanted to be sure. He discreetly looked the man up and down, searching for anything out of place.

Most definitely a waiter. Either that or it was a cheesy James Bond knockoff.
Which would be cool.
But sadly, this man was definitely a waiter.

Light. Bright light.
Green, black, brown, red, orange, green, red, black, green...
The colors swirled inside your head, a pure daze of half-clarity as you struggled to discern the details of your new surroundings...
Trees. It was, undoubtedly a forest. Though your constantly altered perception made it hard to really gather more info, this was certainly a start. It was also daytime. Which was nice. But...how had you arrived here?
It was not too long ago when you had seen the pages scattered about some Ellisent Vanestra's cluttered desk...------------------------------------------------------------- J-
We need Kefka and Alice. With them, it's bye-bye Rozens. Think about it...both leaders of the known magical world...it's amazing, really...
I think we may already have the first...
-Toothy
-------------------------------------------------------------- Hm...and that other one...-------------------------------------------------------------- One found. Many more. Search in the Arctic; may be hope there. Could be a pattern? Rozen will be overthrown.
-J.T.
-------------------------------------------------------------- The Arctic. Of course. Suddenly, the idea had hit you. Swept your mind...The Crimson Shards...You were searching for some kind of map to guide you to the arctic after your, at the time, unplanned escape from Subania. Never did you find anything, but you'd gotten more than you bargained for that night. Or day...That guard...he thought he was so tough...
"HEY! YOU! STOP RIGHT THERE!!"
"*sigh* Oh yeah...? Okay, then..."
"May I ask what you're doing here?"
"Heh heh...Why, I'm ending your life, of course! REALIZE!!!"
You had expected to stay on your feet.
That blast of color...that flash of light...and the tugging sensation whipping you through the fabric of time and space itself....
God, you never thought you would have escaped this soon...

Azreal tried his legs, wobbling to his feet. They seemed reasonably stable... enough for now, at least.
Pain was not an issue for Azreal right now so much as absolute disorientation. Teleportation itself did not cause much physical discomfort, but being ripped from the fabric of reality without the intention of doing really throws one off.
A forest. That was a start. But with no reference point, he couldn't exactly teleport to where he wanted to be...

[I don't know why I used 2nd person last post...tired, I s'pose. sweatdrop ]
Or teleport, period.
It was really hard to actually pull off the moves he wanted to; with his dementia pulling him down constantly, accurate spell-slinging was extremely hard. But it was possible.
In all reality, he hadn't used a teleportation skill like that before. It was fun...but sort of sickening. Not your run-of-the-mill day trip, really.
Now...he had a few choices. Explore the woods, try to bust out, or set up camp now...
It really just depended on how badly he needed to get North...

Azreal tried to work out his choices through the magic of logic and reason.... not the easiest thing, when you have an altered perception of time and space.
The way he saw it so far, he needed to get north; that much was certain. But he could in no way, shape or form teleport all the way to the Arctic, and even if he could he still had no idea where exactly he was going.
He had to find civilization first... he needed a map and a least a bit of supplies. For now, it seemed like the best plan of action. Though he had to hurry.... before long, Subania would realize he was missing, and when that happened his face would be plastered on every store with but one word underneath it: WANTED.
Without hesitation he set off into what he perceived to be the least rough portion of the woods, hoping he would find something akin to a road.

It was difficult to locate, but there did seem to be some kind of eroded pathway in the middle of the woods. Good. It was a start...
Suddenly, however, three unusually aggressive rabbits jumped into the middle of his path! Buckteeth bared, they all emitted some kind of drool-muffled, high-pitch growl. What, did they all have rabies or something?

The appearance of the bunnies ferocious forest beasts startled Azreal greatly, causing him to take a step back.
His vision was no longer holding true. The long ears slowly but surely bent and hardened, taking the appearance of daemon horns.
"Away, foul creatures! REALIZE!"
Focusing greatly, he vividly pictured a bus, concentrating on the teleportation of said bus directly above the heads of the diseased little monsters.
