He raised his head high, chest puffing in pride for his pack. "They will accept you. And not just because I'm their alpha. We were all loners at some point, and still are to some degree." His warm tongue caressed Ehrek's cheek, trying to reassure him.
"Are you really willing to come with me? I won't force you . . . " he added, but the thought that Ehrek truly didn't want to, and would simply go due to a sense of duty to keep Deimos happy, made despair well up inside of him.
"You'd have a home . . . a family . . . We don't have to leave now. I mean, we just met. Maybe I should stay here with you for a few days? Or . . . "
His brain was swimming with uncertainty and frustration. What was he doing? He hadn't a clue how relationships worked. Even how friendships started. To him, finding Alex and Kek had been flukes. After all, he hadn't had anyone to teach him about life in general. Sure, Tasubaa had taught him how to survive, but not how to live.
Was he doing it right?? Or just making mistake after mistake? It all made him want to howl, to throw his head back, point his nose to the endless sky, and let everything out in one long, wailing note.
But he didn't want to leave the small den, afraid that if he did, he wouldn't get a second chance.

Ehrek smile melted to a more calm smile, more affectionate - for lack of better words. He thought about the idea of once again be in a pack, at least this time he would be older. His last one was ripped from him and he did not want that to happen again. His mother had saved him, but the pack was gone. He was unsure if it was taken over or they had gathered somewhere else. If so, he had long forgotten their scents. A pack, a place with more secure place for him to live and possibly be with others. Though, Deimos here was a good companion as is. He smirked, "Alpha, huh? That's interesting... pack of loners... I suppose..."
"Dei, I will come with you..." he looked down at his paws. For some reason he felt bad about replying to start. He had no idea how he wanted that answered or how his question was meant to be asked. He wanted to go, he did not want to stay alone forever and especially having to den-hop every time he moved around here. It was hard to maintain a territory when he was a lone wolf and there are packs and other predators out there that could kill him. Ultimately, being in a pack will help his chances of living and everything that came with it would be the wonderful benefits. Companions.
Ehrek nudged him and whined a little at Deimos' distressed expression. It seemed like the male had thoughts on his mind that he did not quite want to think about. Perhaps there was something he did not know, perhaps there were things he had yet to know. He will have to discover Deimos' secrets when he was read to reveal them.
The vagabond wanted to help him, ease him of his frustration, his distress. He wanted to comfort him, but how? Was it right for him to go with him? He did ask, right? He wanted to go and Deimos felt that he should, at least that was how Ehrek thought about it.
"A home. A family. It sounds very tempting, Deimos... but I am not quite ready to leave the place I squatted for many moons," he sighed a bit. "If you do stay, perhaps we could get to know each other and possibly get some questions answered..."

At first, Ehrek's answer saddened him, but when the other male continued, his spirits lightened. He could afford at least a few days away from his pack. After all, they all usually went a couple days without seeing one another anyway.
"Well, I'm not going anywhere without you, so I guess I'm staying." Crawling forward, he nuzzled Ehrek's cheek before licking it. "Shall we go for a morning run? Than I'll answer anything you want to know . . . "
And he was telling the truth. No matter what the charcoal male asked him of, he would spill it all.

Ehrek chuckled as he was nuzzled then licked. Affectionately he assumed. Something about Deimos was alluring and not just his musk either. He looked at the burning charcoal male with a soft smile. Today was going to be interesting, very interesting. Ehrek rose to his feet and licked him back, just between the eyes.
"I appreciate that, glad you are gonna stick around here for a while. I guess you are gonna stick to me like a leech, huh?" he chuckled, slowly walking out from the den, shivering from the cold. His tail flicked invitingly to the male behind him. "A morning walk would be better, I have not quite ran very far and very long in a while so I would be nothing but a disappoint. If you run, you will merely let everything pass you by," grinning back widely. "And I'd rather not have you pass me by."

Deimos would most likely have found Ehrek's words sweet, and come up with an equally sweet retort, but he was currently transfixed by the flick of the other male's tail. When he realized this, his embarrassment made him want to hide in a hole, but seeing as he was the last to leave the den, Ehrek couldn't have caught him.
"You do have a point. But I don't know these lands. Show me around?" he questioned, smiling broadly. Though the air bit through his thinner fur quite easily, his spirits were high indeed. It was going to be a good day. Just being in the presence of Ehrek assured it, though others would call him a fool for thinking so about another so early in meeting them.

Ehrek started down the very path he took to get from where he had met Deimos to where they had spent the night. He remembered it and it still gave off the faint scent from the two of them too. He paused. Sniffing his fur, he noticed that Deimos' scent was on him now. It was to be expected after all he did spend the night rather close to him so the transfer of scents was likely. The male smiled. It smelt nice.
He looked up at the sky with a wagging tail and a happy grin. Today looked very nice, not a single dangerous cloud in the sky. It was blue like the sea, maybe even a good variation of his own fur. He chuckled as he remembered the name Deimos had given him.
("Northern Lights") he whispered. He only saw them once in his life and it was the day that he caught his first meal on his own after being left alone from the pack raid. It was a brilliant displace of lights from the North that danced for miles across the night sky. It looked wonderful as the stars shined with it. He remembered it like a photographic memory picture. He could not forget it. Looking back, did Deimos really see him like that?

Following the other male, his tail wagged happily in the cool breeze. He was smiling when Ehrek looked back at him, and the wondering look on the charcoal male's face made his grin widen. "What?"
Trotting to catch up, he bumped sides with Ehrek playfully, nipping at his ear. "You look like you're thinking. What're you thinking about?"

When Deimos caught up to him, he finally notice the size difference between the two. Before, either one was laying down or both were. They did not really stand side by side before, did they? He looked at him and spayed his ears back. Deimos was much larger than him, he himself only came up to just below the wolf's shoulders. Ehrek was rather small, he always known that, but were there wolves this big out there?
"I was thinking about how tall you are, Dei. Never met any wolves your size before. Then again, I am just a shrimp," He chuckled as he pressed on, paws pressing down against the white walkway. The area, the North, was a winter wonderland with snow upon snow. Dunes of flakes and icicles from trees, it was easy to see why it was so cold up here.
Time to begin.
"Dei, where is this pack of yours? I mean, does it have a specific territory is that why you came up here in the first place, aside finding me of course."

The big male looked down at himself, than over at Ehrek. It was true; he was quite a bit larger than the charcoal male. The only other wolf he'd met that was bigger than him had been Kekarn.
He chuckled when Ehrek called himself a shrimp. "But I'm unnatural, so that makes you perfect," he murmured, smiling softly. After a few moments, he continued. "The pack is south of here, deep in the forest, but centered around a huge bear den. It's where we all meet, but rarely sleep. I think Kek and I stay there the most. Like I said before, we're a pack of loners, and we're always wandering. There are no rules that say you have to stay on the pack lands. If you want to leave, you can. We won't stop you."
Itching for a run, he spun in a circle as he walked beside Ehrek, acting for all the world like a high-strung puppy. Not only that, but he always got happier whenever talking about his pack. "There's only a few of us now."

His fell back when Deimos looked down at him. He was not the best submissive sort of male there were and being shorter than an Alpha felt weird. He smiled anyways, he was gonna have to grow into it if he was gonna spend more time with the male.
"Unnatural? I am not perfect, far far from. If anything, I would very much love to be unnatural too," he muttered. He was short, he knew that. But he sort of admired Deimos' height, he liked it a lot, but the feeling of being submissive was a growing behavior. He nudged his shoulder and walked faster, a jog.
"So if you are all loners, I suppose you won't be for a while if I am with you, right? Loners are those who are alone, but you have me," the logic was stupid and it was sort of right. He laughed and started to run a bit more, been a while since he ran. The catch he caught last night was luck, already stuck in a strange harder-than-rock jaw that clamped around the prey beast's foot. Easy catch for him. "Kek? Kekarn? I know him! I met him a while back, a really nice guy. So he's one of your pack members? I knew he was in a pack, but didn't know he was one of yours."
"Try to keep up, Dei!"

The big male suddenly found himself being left behind and he picked up speed to catch up. "Yes, Kek is part of the pack. He's our beta, actually." He smiled at the thought of the purple wolf. Then he bunched his legs under him and jumped effortlessly over Ehrek, still running when he landed.
"And I would gladly abandon my loneliness for you. I don't like being alone." Nuzzling Ehrek under the jaw, his teeth nipping gently at the charcoal fur, Deimos thought about his pack. Sure, he wasn't truly alone, he had a new family, but it was a rare time that they all slept in the same den. Sometimes, no, most times, he enjoyed sleeping curled amongst two or three others, where he felt warm and loved.
He had a feeling that Ehrek would always be with him when he went to sleep. "Ehrek? What happened to your pack?" he asked softly, wanting to know, but not sure if he should ask. But the question was out; if Ehrek wanted to answer, he could.

"So Kek is a beta of your pack? If I recall, he is suppose to be second in command or something like that. A lot of responsibility for him," he replied as he watched Deimos jump over him. He chuckled as he caught a glimpse of him under the sunlight. He smirked when he caught his tone of voice when he said 'our beta'. "You make it seem like he is your only beta."
Laughing, "Serious? Oh Dei, what sort of loner are you if you gave it up like that? If I did not know any better, I would say that you loved me," he grinned. He had a feeling and saying taht was telling and obvious truth. "That is true, being alone hurts. Worst form of suffering there is, y'know?" He did... he has suffered it for a long time, perhaps Deimos and the rest of the pack has too being a bunch of loners. Perhaps being together would ease their suffering and revel in one another's presence.
His tail fell from its playful position and his ears flicked back with his eyes diverted. That question. He always tried to avoid it. Being comfortable with that was asking to sit on a porcupine and keep a straight face.
"I don't know..." he started. Deimos has been truthful to him, telling him all that he wanted to know and all that he needed to know. Should he not do the same for him? Ehrek wanted to be with this Alpha, but he could not tell if he also wanted to as much as he himself did. If he wanted to be with Deimos, it was best for him to know secrets about him.
He started to slow down. This story should not be told running.
"It was a long time ago... I was the Alpha's son, a litter of few, most of whom being females and making me the heir. The pack was settled against a cliff side, an indent more like. The den was made up of many smaller dens that belonged to each member of the pack. The Alpha's den was the highest and from there you could see into almost every single den there was. Whenever a pair got together as a family, they would leave one den to join the other. However, that usually never happened because only the Alpha, the Betas, and the best wolves would mate. Stupid, huh? Feel sorry for the weaker ones... They were settled against the axis of three other packs that wanted to expand their territory so they were always warring one another and we being the middle one being stuck between the bouts. I guess one of the packs decided that our den was perfect for a place to stake out before moving closer to another territory or something."
he paused.
"They raided the pack lands, they tried to kill us. My father ordered that the females take the pups to run away and the Omegas to protect them. My mother left me across the river a ways away. However, I remember the Omegas turning, I guess they were bribed by another pack... I have no idea what happened to my pack. Perhaps they are all gone. Perhaps they survived and still there. Perhaps they moved somewhere and settled there. To be honest, I would love to go look for them but... the river is code and deep, and even if it was frozen I could still not cross it in fear of the ice breaking. As embarrassing as it is... I cannot swim."
Story told. Tears of remembrance ran down his cheek/ He still remembered his mother's scent and his father's strong voice. It was hard to forget them, but he knew them too well to forget. Nothing is ever lost... it is only forgotten.

He grew very silent when Ehrek said that Deimos loved him. He was relieved when the charcoal male continued on without looking at him, or saying anything else to him about it. There was no doubt that he would spill his heart.
Realizing they had stopped, Deimos sat lightly on the snow covered ground, listening patiently to everything Ehrek had to tell him about his pack. When the smaller wolf was done, tears leaked from his own eyes, and he didn't hesitate to step forward, his tongue licking away the evidence of sorrow from Ehrek's cheeks.
"I'm sorry, Ehrek. I . . . " He didn't know what to say. No one had ever been able to teach him how to show his compassion with words. He could only do it with his touches.
Shifting forward, he let the smaller wolf lean on him and nibbled lovingly at his ear. "I could teach you how to swim . . . " As soon as he said it, he wished he could take the words back. Ehrek would surely find it stupid.

Deimos made him laugh a little, pawing at his chest then looking up at him. "No point, you'd have to come save me," he smiled and returned his head back to Deimos' strong chest, sighing softly. It was a strange feeling to have that past off his chest and have its weight shared upon the shoulders of two. The charcoal blue wolf nuzzled into his warm fur. "No need to apologize, you couldn't do anything about it. In time, I would have told you anyways. You've been truthful to me, right? About the pack and Kekarn and about the loners and things, I thought I should too."
He could still feel a few drops of tears on his cheek, but he disregarded them as he could still feel the lick that Deimos had given him just moments ago to clean him of his sorrow. How come Deimos was so kind and compassionate? is it because he likes males too or... what made him so special?
Ehrek could feel his heart race from time to time whenever Deimos touched him before it settled down. Something pulled at him. Ehrek surely had feelings for him, their bond grew in such a short amount of time. But what worried him was their relationship as a male-to-male sort. Females and males have a good relationship at times because there was something worth from it. The pups. But when it is between a male and a male, it was different. There was no pups involved and thus no commitment otherthan between one another. That was it, their relationship. He worried that if Deimos got bored of him, he would leave him. To tell the truth, he was always worried that if he ever got into a relationship that he would fall victim of abandonment. Plus, he has never been in a relationship where he was the submissive one.
... he was willing to give it a shot. Do or die.
"I love you..."

"I'd would gladly come save you, if it meant warming you up afterwards." Grinning, he rested his head on top of Ehrek's, a rumbling, contented sound coming from his throat. He almost sounded like he was purring.
And then those three words nearly knocked him over.
"I love you . . . "
He couldn't move, for fear that everything was just a dream. It had to be a dream. There was no other explanation for how amazing things were going. But the weight of Ehrek's body pressing against his chest was very real.
"Ehrek . . . " Stepping back, he used his own muzzle to lift Ehrek's, so that he could meet the other male's eyes. "Truly?"
