What about really specific subforums such as
Romance Highschool RP, Fighting School RP Village RP,
Stuff like that
And if I didn't say the following, I would be a liar,
I do like having power...but occasionally I get un-active when I do that...but now I own a guild...and am a moderater in 2 and active in all...so ya...(PS I am gaia the most in my family)

Sounds like you have your hands full!
Thank you for all of your suggestions, every one. Genres isn't a bad idea, but since this guild's focus is to help people improve, I think that highlighting the RP levels will be more beneficial. I'm changing this from a sticky to a normal thread, but we are always open to suggestions and you can either PM this mule or post somewhere that you think is appropriate, where we will see it.
Ready, set.... GUILD CHANGE.

ok.....like so many others.....i haven't been here long myself......but i have an idea........instead of having moderators as the teachers......why not allow players to be volunteers?....this way everyone could get lessons and EVERYONE can get better......i myself could use lessons for T1 styled game play but I'm some what decent at general RPing......so i could easily help some one new to the point of keeping up and at the same time could be learning as well.

Dude, you CAN be a teacher. xd Our moderator has a sticky because his project is going to be a large one, but if you go into the Questions subforum you can see other members helping out there in very important ways. Lady Kalimar, what I want to see from any potential moderator is an idea of what you would do if you were a moderator. What I mean is that you can do a lot just as a member. Moderator powers, as I'm sure you know, mostly involve moving threads and making stickies. There is a lot that you can do without that. But if you have a project or specific job in mind then PM me and I will consider it.

lol i never meant i needed mod powers dear simply that i was here if anyone needed me. I've found that most days the moderator title simple helped people find me to ask questions or verify rules and regulations. Although theres always the occasion when one had to remove certain unwelcome guests as well however it was anopen forum concept wich makes it harder to mod than a group of people who were accepted into a private area.
An idea you might try is to simply break up different groups of individuals into teaching and or moding certain areas of your forums. It makes it more organized if each person knows they are in charege of X or Y and not just hopping about willy nilly.

Thank you, we have that going in a sort of unofficial way. Folchinator watches over the Questions subforum and runs the mental RP. I run Feretris, approve people, and a host of other things. We just accepted a new moderator who wanted to help set up and sort the new tier system.
You can go into the Questions subforum and make your own thread there about what you would like to help people with in their RPs. Or you can answer questions there and in the main stickies here.
Yes, the open forum does make it harder in some ways, but usually when I delete a person's spam or tell them that their character profile isn't perfect, and they leave in a huff, well that is the sort of person you don't want around too badly any way.

I think that you should make sub-forums like some other people. I would donate to the guild for those subforums but I forgot how much they were worth, so if someone could tell me then I'll donate for atleast one extra sub-forum... My specialty would most likely be creating advertisements for the guild.

Why just roleplaying? Why not have a section for writing (as in stories) and guild contests. It would probably bring more people to the guild and also give people a chance to earn a bit of gold or items. Oh, and an OOC section would be wonderful. That way, after an RP has been started, people in that RP can go and talk about the RP and junk in that thread instead of clogging up the RP and a persons' "mail"box. I don't know, just thought it would be interesting. So... yeah. PIRATES! pirate

My specialty would most likely be creating advertisements for the guild. We have plenty of money because the subforums only cost 2,500g. We just added two subforums and still have plenty of money for more. I have no problem adding more subforums if someone has a suggestion that I like for what that new subforum would be. PS. I believe that Gaia is planning to make it so that you can change the order of the subforums which will be a relief

I kind of am, but that isn't a bad thing!!!) is that some will remain inactive and be uncirculated. Until we get more members there really is no need at this time. Maybe larger sections, like School RP, Future RP, etc.

I don't know, just thought it would be interesting. So... yeah. PIRATES! pirate Thanks, I find your suggestions at least interesting and may consider them more seriously at a later date. I'm saying no to the OOC one though because people are allowed to create a second thread for their OOC chatter if they wish. I think it's better to have the OOC thread in the same place as the RP. Now, a random chatter subforum? Maybe. Eh. Guild Contests? Not right now. I would love to do contests, but we have so few that they don't warrant their own subforum right now. Right now they go in the main forum. Since we are moving most of the RPs out of the main forum, it should be less cluttered and I think that having the contests there or in their appropriate subforums (like a character contest in the Character subforum) should work. Writing? I love writing. I have to decide if that is a can of worms or not. I used to moderate the writing forum and people can get kinda pissy about their work. But maybe we can keep it kinda more related to RPing (rather than just duplicating the writing forum) by focusing on stories and story fragments related to RP characters. It's kinda an argument of semantics at that point, since every character is a potential RP character. But if we had this we would be more accepting of story fragments than the writers forum because that is more conducive to and results often from RPing. We have a couple of threads now where people are supposed to critique each other's posts (story fragments, really) and some other threads that are about improving your writing... I'll think about it.

That is, if you consider School RP to be a genre. What I mean is that the most popular genres are generally associates with noobetry, but if I create the genres that I think are awesome then they might not all get as used.

I enjoy the way you have set it up at the moment. Once there are tons and tons of RPs going on, you might want to see which ones are the most popular and active and make a separate sub-forum for their genre, but right now there really is no need. Also, this way, you get to see all the RPs and who knows, you might end up finding one you like even though you normally don't participate in that kind of a roleplay.
