Far thought for a moment. "About 11 or 12 years now. I've been here since I was 5. My father finished his Journymanship here." She said nodding. How could she forget? Only three years later her mother left the Weyr.

I wonder when the rain will stop...I'm going to go a little crazy from being locked up in the weyr for too long if it doesn't stop soon!

I suppose at least we don't have to fear thread.

Caleten couldn't sit there and listen anymore, she had to see what was going on outside. Up until very recently, that was her home! She stood up and Gem joined her instantly, takng perch on her shoulder. "Excuse me, it sounds like its getting worse out there, I am going to go an check out the damages so far." Getting away from her seat, the young woman walked from the kitchen still extremely disturbed by the weather. Her mind was plagued with the thoughts of what she would have done if she were out there?
If there were no cave near by, Gem and herself would have gotten soaked to the bone with no where to go. Thinking over which way she would have gone, she knew that in good weather it would have been two days before she found any sort of shelter that could possibly helpped from the rain. Being alone in something like this, and with the danger to Gem, she had to shudder at the thought.

"Aye... we already have had one do that." She pointed to the woman who left with a flit on her shoulder. Far chuckled at Khavida. "We may not have to fear Thread, but there is a danger of the Weyr falling apart from the weather or being flooded."

Khavida nods solemnly, but then chuckles slightly. Being solemn was not something she was very good at.
At least I know how to swim!
She smiles heartily at Far. Then attempts to be serious again.
I wonder how much repair we'll have to do after this is over. If we even have a Weyr left.
Khavida manages to look troubled over the idea of no Weyr. She couldn't imagine not having a roof over her head. She gazes into the fire in quiet thought. Her blue-green eyes watching the flames dance. Her small cat Celi peeks out of her bag and mews at her. Khavida smiles at Celi, patting her head gently. She pulls a few small strips of dried meat from a pocket in her bag and hand feeds them to the cat.
She awakens at last! Lazy feline.
Khavida chuckles and rubs Celi's head affectionately while she feeds her. She glances at Far's cat Xeniane, then offers the hand with the meat in it to him.
Come here and I'll feed you.
((Tired yet again. sweatdrop But at least I posted more than three lines! ))

The cat sniffed the meat in Khavida's hand. In an instant, Xeniane bit the meat and tugged, ripping off a chunk. He eyed her and seemed to bow his head before going back to his other meat.
Far rolled her eyes. "You've signed a food contract with him now, you know that? Celi's going to be hard pressed to find food with him around." She smiled. "I'd rather fight Thread than repair the Weyr. Course to do that I would need a dragon first..." The girl sighed. She hadn't been able to even try to impress an egg the last time there had been a clutch. She'd been stuck inside with her father, practicing some odd thing. It was like he had prevented her from going for some reason. She shook her head slightly; the next time there was a clutch, she'd try, no matter what.

I think I've got enough for the both of them.
She grins at Far.
I wish I could impress a dragon. I know it's a large responsibility but ever since I was small I've wanted to at least try.

Listening to the storm, Sania decided that the weather was getting worse. She wondered if her father and the runners were feeling the same thing.
This is worse then that storm that flooded our field. I've never experienced anything like it.

Far nodded. "Yeah, the last time there was a clutch, my father had me practicing something... I don't remember what it was." She pulled her cat into her lap and stroked his head. "If nothing else, I want a fire lizard. I love them." The cat meow and she let go. Xeniane glared at his master before slinking off out of the kitchen.
"If you could impress a dragon, what color would you like to have?" The girl asked her fellow Harper.

Well while we're dreaming I'd like a gold. But in reality I'd be proud to have any color dragon. I would like to have a flit as well if it's as close to a dragon as I'm going to get. Which is highly likely. It's too bad you didn't get to try at the last clutch. I couldn't either, I was abed with an awful sickness. I suppose there's always next time.

Far nodded. "I'd like a blue. They maybe small, but they're very fast." She turned to Sania. "I'm Farua, though most people call me Far." She smiled. The girl heard the storm rage. Anyone would be suicidal to go out in this storm. They'd be ripped to shreads.

I love the blues as well. I expect it would be quite a thrill to ride something so fast! Green is my favourite color so that would be fun for vanity's sake!
She giggles at that. Echoing Far's thoughts she says...
Anyone out in this weather must be completely insane!

Far laughed. "Well if we're talking vanity, then I'd want a gold. But... I don't need the responciblity, or the mateflights, that come with one. I'll be happy with whatever dragon deams me worth."

Yes, you are right, golds are much more work and more of a responsibility. Especially mateflights. I'll be happy with any dragon as well.
