I almost fainted, looking at the short second of that kiss between Zuko and Mai.
I think it was in Mai's dreams or something. I think it would be funny if that was actually a nightmare, and Zuko woke up yelling and bathed in sweat and everything.
If it actually turns out to be a reality, then I guess....we have to accept it, as much as I hate saying that!

I really don't get why everyone thinks it is a dream. I don't think they would show Mai's dream seeing as she is a secondary character. She barely gets any lines so why would she get a dream/fantasy sequence? Idk, if it turns out to be one I will be very puzzled and kinda angry.

Actually, theres a strong factor that it could be a dream. Theres one episode called 'dreams and Nightmares' (self explanitory)
My opinion? This is a HORRIBLE couple, it's predictable, boring and too Cliche. Probably the worst thing Bryan and Mike thought of.

Mizz Kisaragi Guys, my only opinion on this whole Mai X Zuko things is this: I personally don't prefer her as a plot device for Zuko's development, I find it very unnecessary~ I want to see focus on Zuko's character, not how he hooks up with Mai and love is teh awesome! I prefer that Zuko not be with anyone to be honest...really. I don't prefer her as a character as well, I find her very unappealing design wise and think she is only interesting as a part of her group dynamic (the crazy, the perky, and the pessimist) not solo or as a character of any interest. This is just my opinion, this is a show on nick , come one Exactly! Zuko still needs developing (and redeeming; you little a**, you actually left your uncle, who does love you to rot in jail D:<), and that's gonna be awkward with a speed-over relationship thrown in. Besides, Mai is too underdeveloped as an individual character.

Lemon M. This isn't the hate on Mai thread. At any rate, Mai isn't a bad character. She isn't cold, she isn't heartless. She's just apathetic at times, but she DOES show emotions. She's just not as expressive as Zuko, or Aang, or Sokka. Which, we're used to the over-blown emotional features. Mai is simply more reserved.
Also, in the picture, Zuko has a TOP KNOT. It's not buzzed. It's a topknot. You can see the pony holder somewhere over Zuko's head.
At any rate, why do people hate on Mai? She doesn't listen to Azula all the time (ie, in The Drill, where she refused to go into that muck, no matter how much Azula would shoot lightning at her) and she is pretty mellow. Plus, her voice is so awesome. So she's attacked the Gaang; so what? So has Zuko, do you hold that against him? Noooo.
Zuko even showed interest in protecting her when they were kids, when she obviously had a crush on him. Shows he cared for her enough to save her from a burning apple, even when she didn't scream until she saw him come running at her. (( Meaning, Zuko didn't run to Mai's assistance because she screamed, he ran to her assistance because he WANTED TO.))
If anything, Mai and Zuko are an opposites attract type of ship when it comes to personality. Mai is reserved in her emotions, calm, and laid back. Zuko is expressive, hot-headed, and not sensible at times. But, they also have similarities: Zuko and Mai both like daggers/knives/swords, etc; both are of high ranking Fire Nation families (Mai's father is a Duke, I think...or something of that).
Edit: Also, I doubt Zuko would ditch Iroh for Mai, but ever think that Mai might help Iroh? Hmmm? Maybe Zuko means more to Mai as a potential lover, than Azula means to Mai as a "friend". After all, Mai has crushed on Zuko for many years, and that's quite a feat that I doubt will be dropped off so suddenly.

I totally agree with you. It's horribly cliche and obnoxious on the same level.
I sure hope it's a dream.
Goddamnit, this new season looks like it'll be really angsty.

"Mai, lay of the Tuna, kuz yoh breath STANKZ!"

My whole prediction (Prediction meaning, it may not happen) is, at first they'll be the lovey dovey in 'Awakening' , Zuko runs off to find his mother leaving Mai with the other stooges, then in 'Dreams and Nighmares' Mai's dreaming of becoming future Queen (hence Kiss number two) , all to find out when Zuko returns he finds out Mai has been plotting with Azula AND KICKS HER HINNEY!

I think it would be great if they could pretend to be all lovey-dovey then go plot to kick Azula's a** together. That would be more interesting, in my opinion, and it would leave everyone happy and free to ship whatever they want.

(Quoted from Avatar spirit.net )) Personality: Caustic and given to dead pan expressions, Mai yearns for excitement and does not hesitate to employ her assassin-like skills at the slightest provocation. Despite her strong personality, however, she obeys Azula without question, even to the point of putting her younger brother in danger during the hostage trade seen in "Return to Omashu."

no offense to the Maiko shippers....but i think them together is a BAD idea. I mean they are practically the SAME and Zuko kinda needs someone to bring out the good, and nicer side of him. I am NOT talking about Katara but i think Zuko would be really good with Jin [they were sooo cute!] and i think she makes an appearance in season 3 right?!

Your right on one half there.
It's true, i also see the fault in the fact that Mai is just like Zuko and their relationship is doomed to go nowhere. She'd complain that shes bord and Zuko would just nod in agreement. Seriously? if thats what we've got to wait for in season 3 then im better off watching FMA.
I even found evidence on Deviantart (i cant find the link but as soon aas i do, ill post it. Look up Banished Prince)
Yes, another spoiler has leaked deviant and this time its about dialogue betwen Mai and Zuko
Now..This is where we disagree. The whole foundations of the Jinko (jin x zuko) relationship was based on a lie. He called himself Lee (Li) and disguised himself as a refugee, i think if Jin found out about Zuko's heritage she'd be heartbroken. Her family was probably forced into the refugee secter of Ba Sing Se by firenation soliders that kicked them out of their hometown.
The romance was cute while it lasted but I cant see Zuko going back to her. I think it was just an episode filler anyway.
