He tilted his head. "But...I think it is good for it!" he said, remembering what his mother had said, salt made wounds heal over faster, it hurt because it was helping, right? Nevertheless, he didn't really want to argue about something so silly.
The stallion put a bit of weight onto his back legs, sinking down a bit in the water. One stung to much to keep weight on, but the other only ached a bit. Not too bad.
He moved over to the ledge. Kiefer had never stopped to think how they would get back up, even if he DID have two fully usable legs. It was a lot easier to jump down then climb up. Kiefer felt himself grin. Thinking ahead wasn't really his thing.
Kiefer winced, and pushed himself up as hard as he could, putting his front feet onto the lowest rock and pulling himself up onto it, then slowly pulling his legs back under him. There, up onto the first one. It would be easier from here...right?

"I don't know. I've heard from my human that there are little things in ocean water that can harm wounds. I'm just concerned, that's all." She told him as she stepped out the ocean, water dripping from her fur.
As he started to scale the ledge, she made sure to be behind him, just in case he slipped... or just needed help in general. She couldn't imagine how much pain he might be in, she just wanted him to get help as soon as it was possible.

Kiefer smiled. "Ah, don't bother worrying about me. The more people worry about me, the more time the waste" he said, shaking his head. He didn't like troubling others with himself. It made it harder to have fun, worrying about making others upset. Sometimes it was easier to ignore how others might react. Sometimes he really would regret it.
The stallion winced, and decided to just do it. Get it over with. He lept up to the next one, trying his best to land on his back legs, and not the front. Which didn't entirely work, because he ended up landing MOSTLY on his rump, because he would try to put his back legs under him to land, which wasn't something he generally did.
Not to bad, though. He got up quickly, to make sure Charl didn't think he hurt himself any further. He turned back and looked at her. "I don't think I will be doing this again anytime soon. Actually. Its me. So who knows" he said, laughing.

"I'm sorry, I can't help it... it's just in my nature to worry when someone's in trouble." She replied, slowly following after him. Her own footing slipped every now and then, but she managed to stay upright.
Continuing to make sure he didn't fall backwards, she let out gasps when he fell. By the time she had tried to help though, he had already climbed back onto his feet. "I suggest that you don't... or at least, go to a different beach." She said softly, worrying that if he came down here again, the same thing might happen.

Kiefer laughed. "Just like my mother" he said, not even thinking that it might not be the most flattering thing to say to a mare. No matter, though. "I appreciate you worrying..." he said, going for another jump. This time he managed better. "...but really, try not to. I'm not in trouble. With all the stupid things I've done, I've gotten pretty good at dealing with the repercussions"
"Well..." he said, smiling. "I may seem like a complete idiot and all, but I don't usually make such mistakes. So I mean, now that it has happened, I will be more carefully" he made another leap "or not. Anyway, if you just stay away from somewhere because you might get hurt, what does one do to have fun?"

She gave him a look as if saying, 'what's wrong with worrying about your well being' and gave a soft snort. With a sigh, she replied. "If that's what you really want... I'll try not to 'worry'"
At his words, her tail gave a slight agrivated flick. "I never said to stay away from this beach forever... just until your legs are feeling much better." She retorted, now hopping up the rocks that she was beside him rather than behind.

He shook his head. Kiefer certainly was good at ruining a good time, wasn't he? "I don't...not appreciate it or anything like that. It just makes me uncomfortable..." he said, hoping that would end the matter. He jumped up again, this was getting easier now, and there were only three left. he really wanted to get this over with, his leg was beginning to throb. Maybe he should see a two legger...
Kiefer went quiet, then did another leap. So close, b ut so far. He stood for a moment to watch his breath, lifting his hoof to take some weight on it. Hopefully they pain would stop enough to make the final two....
He looked to the side, and looked at her. "Oh...well...yea. I wish I could have shown you the good beach. Maybe another time" he said. It really was a shame, the beach was one of his favorite places...he hoped he didn't leave Charl with a poor opinion of the beach...

"I'm sorry if my worrying made you uncomfortable. Not my intention." She stated softly, flattening her ears slightly. She continued up the rocks, watching both hers and his steps. It took a lot not to show the concern in her face, for his sake, but she managed, though there were some times where it had slipped.
"You can show me another time, like as soon as your leg is better. How about that? I mean, the beach still sounds fun... but a safer one would probably be a better view." She told him, giving him a comforting nudge with her nose.

Kiefer grinned at her. "Aw, I know, it's not really my right to tell you not too, I guess" he said, nudging her back a bit, unsure how he was supposed to respond to such a motion. He only usually got touched, usually nuzzles, from his family. He looked up. "Well, here goes nothing"
He decided to bite the bullet, and go for the last two leaps. The first onto the next rock went fine, as usual. He went for the second one, this time for land. He went, skidding slightly in the soft dirt, but stuck it. "Finally back on the land" he said with a grin. It did feel good.
He yawned, looking at the horizon. "It's too bad this ended...bad" he said "But I'm taking you up on your offer, to visit the beach again sometime. I've you've never been there, you haven't lived" he said again, smiling

Charl smiled softly at his words and the nudge in return. A canted head, signaled that his last words had confused her slightly, but quickly figured it out when he lept to the rock ahead then back onto the cliff. She soon did the same and looked back down to the beach below them.
She couldn't help but frown when he mentioned that this ended bad as she turned back to him. "Well, it's not the end of the world just because one thing goes a bit wrong. I'm sure the other beach is much better and I'll love it there." She exclaimed with a small flick of her tail.

Kiefer grinned, at least she was keeping positive. The sum was beginning to cast a purple light, it was getting late. "Well, you will. Nobody could dislike the beach. Unless they had the poorest sense of fun in the world" he said, nodding. "Of course, I thought THAT was fun" he added, motioning to the rocks "So I might not be the best one to consult when it comes too fun" he added, laughing.
He took a few steps away from Charl, realizing he was sopping wet, and shook off the water. The salty, slightly sticky feeling wasn't exactly the best, but it was nice to know he would be carrying away a bit of the beach with him. "It's getting late... " he said slowly. Kiefer hated the end of the day, when he just KNEW he should be sleeping, and stop annoying the soquili he came upon... but it was never much fun, goodbyes.

She couldn't help but giggle at his words, shaking her head slightly. "Well, some horses might have their reason for not liking the beach and not because they have no sense of fun." She told him, walking away from the cliff with her tail flicking lightly. "Well, you're a good judge of fun, just not at the right times." She replied with a smile.
When he mentioned it getting late, her green eyes glanced up to noticed the slowly setting sun. "So it is... it's a shame." She told him, glancing back to him with a small frown. Despite what happened, it was nice being in his company, she at least hoped she could see him another time, some time soon.

Kiefer chuckled a bit. "Well, I suppose.... but I certainly don't see anything wrong with it!" he said, swishing his tail back and forth. It was still damp, but his own coat was beginning to dry in the thinner places, like his legs. The back leg had stopped bleeding.
He looked up to the sky again. He remembered when he was a foal, when the sun set, he always knew it was time to go home. Sometimes he did. Usually he didn't. But now it was odd, being his own boss. He could do what he wanted. He could stay up all night, he could play all day. He was a very poor boss for himself, because sometimes he did. But it had been instilled in his mind for life, the sun set meant it was time to go home.
"Yes, but promise me you will come with me to see the real beach one day, okay?" he asked, feeling like a bit of an idiot. It seemed like something a foal would say. But Charl was nice, he enjoyed her company. It would be very good to see her again one day, and he wanted to ensure it. It seemed like every time he made a friend, he simply never saw them again.

"So I've noticed." She replied playfully with a small giggle. She also flicked the remaining water from her tail and mane before turning to face him.
She had to wonder what she was going to welcome when she got back home. Probably having her ear talked off by a certain mountain lion for being out so late, followed by what she did when Kiefer fell into the water being foolish and so on. She wasn't too keen on the idea, but she had to return home... she didn't want to worry anybody... especially him.
Looking up to him, she nodded and smiled. "Okay, I promise I'll go with you." She told him with a soft nicker.

"Alright...well...goodbye" he said, spitting out the words. Goodbyes were always so awkward. He didn't want her to think he was in any hurry to leave, but standing there talking about leaving for an hour wasn't practical, either. So, he decided that it would be easy to just cut to the chase about it. Maybe she would think he was in a hurry to leave. But what ever.
He leaned forward, giving her a quick nuzzle, much more awkward then he intended. Kiefer didn't have many...friends. And he heard it was fine for friends to nuzzle each other, like he did with his sisters and parents. But he was horrid at stuff like that, it never worked out.
