I know what Takao is..... It's da cow! It means cow! That's why it sounds that same! I thought Kai meant chicken....I read it off of somewhere.

Ehhhhhh... we're dealing with real name meanings, Hikari-chan, not sound-alikes (forgot the term for that and I don't care xd ).

And where'd you read that Kai meant 'chicken'? It's thought to be Hawaiian, but the origin is Japanese (most Hawaiians have a bit of Japanese blood in them), and in both cases, it means 'ocean'. There's also the Welsh name Kai, but it is read as 'key' or 'kay' (former for male, latter for female)...and then again it means ocean or sea.

Uhm Flame I heard at a conference this week that Joseph meant Salvation in Hebrew.

Are you sure that the speaker said that's what the name meant, or that that was what the person (Joseph, youngest son of Yocheved) stood for? He was to lead the Hebrews out of Egypt and to the Promised Land, therefore he as a person could have stood for deliverance or salvation from the oppressive Egyptians...

Well, regardless, I've noted it and edited the first post... 3nodding Thanks for the contribution!

Well I could be thinking of the Greek form of the name which is Jesus. Cause I know in the early A.D. the Hebrews were taken over by the Romans. But I do remember them saying that Salvation is the meaning of Jesus which derived from Joseph.

Erm...Roman language isn't Greek, GT. And besides, even if Palestine was under Roman rule that time, they still talked in Aramaic (very old language). And if I recall correctly, the Aramaic form of 'Jesus' would be 'Yeshua'.

I'll go consult with my dad on that; he's an expert on the Biblical names (so much that its sometimes scary)... 3nodding

oh okay well I do know for sure that he said Jesus was Greek and meant salvation and that it derived from Joseph. But if I remeber correctly the Hebrews spoke their own language and Greek, considering the entire new testament was written in Greek. Well I can ask my worship leader on that he is taking classes in Hebrew.

I asked my mom about Kai's name and she said that "ka" as well as "hi" means fire, I also googled it and well you can see the result below

Thanks for the contribution, Raine-san, but... 'ka' and 'hi' are only parts of Kai's name. Unfortunately, the translation of his name depends on the kanji it's written in, and I haven't seen the kanji used for his given name, only the last name (which translates roughly to 'bridge of fire' - 'watari' is 'crossing/bridge').

Thanks anyway. Hmm... did I forget anyone in the list, I wonder?
