Blythe found a seat near the fire at th back of the cafe and took a seat at the booth and looked over one of the two menus there "one of my favorite seats in the house. I am glad its free" he said as he looked down at the dancing flames, pleased that the owner had lit the fire tonight, he sometimes forgot concidering that it was usually Blythes old job to remind him or do it himself, he assumed he must of had to get used to doing it himself once they left.

"Near the fire," Keahi remarked, glancing at the fireplace. He could feel the flames from here and as always it was a welcoming and comforting heat. "You sure like fire, huh?" Blythe seemed to be thinking of something, but it was interesting that the cat always sat by a fire when given the choice.

"I have my reasons...or t least one...its just a stupid reason, something I thought of when I was growing up" he said as he looked away from the fire. Blythe still thought he same thought he did when he was little, he couldnt help it, he was free, just like he believed the fire was when he was little and yet he still felt so shut up and confined just like the fire was in the fire place.

Blythes past was a horrible one, something he wished he could shake but it truely wasnt all that simple, there were horrors in his past he just couldnt shake off.

"It obviously makes you happy, so it can't be that stupid." But if Blythe was embarrassed about it, he wasn't about to pry. Keahi picked up a small menu that sat at the table. He looked through, wondering at the cafe's special concoctions and flavors.

"It isnt anything that embarassing, it is just thoughts of a child thats all" he said as he looked over the menu "fire has always been a favorite thing of mine because of the flames mostly. When you live on the streets you make do with what heat you can get, my brother and I had limited places to get heat and an old oil drum was one of our ways of keeping warm.

When you go to bed by that heat you start thinking things, one of them was how you wished you could be free like the fires that burned to keep you warm. I am free to an extent but i still feel like im confined to a certain place, like the fire in a fire place or barrel, I dont feel like I can show my full potential just being stuck in one place.

I guess you could say its the butterfly in me but still, I just...I dont know, I want to be free yet I dont also...its complicated and a silly childish thought..." he said with a soft sigh, not really knowing how to explain what he was feeling and besides, it WAS a silly childish thought...wasnt it?.

Ooh, memories? The firecat-fox listened intently as Blythe described life on the streets. He knew none of that, as he had grown up under the care of his father and his owner. Pampered kitty he was and street smarts he had none of. As he listened he nodded, not because he understood the experiences, but because he understood the comfort and safety of the flames and light in a dark, dangerous world.

Keahi did not really know what could make Blythe feel so confined. He frowned. "I'm not sure what you mean... You're no longer on the streets cold. Now you have a home and you have a fire to warm yourself by whenever you want. You can leave it and come back to it whenever you want, can't you? Or is it that you want to leave, but you're... afraid to, for lack of a better word?"

"I...I guess im a bit of both, I am afraid of wanting to leave incase I dont have a home to come back to, it happened a few times before, someone was kind enough to take us in but then got rid of us. Because of this, I was skepticle to come here, I didnt want to come here by some person and just be gotten rid of again. Lenore is kind, so is Muraki but im scared that if I leave here or do anything I shouldnt do, even remotely, I will be kicked out.

I know I wont be but its tht fear, I dont want to take risks I might end up regretting" he said as he sighed and trailed off, thinking of the other part to his plight. "As for the other one, I want to leave, spread my wings, so to speak, yet I cant either because I have responsabilities here, I cant just take off, forget time and just do whatever I want.

I have to keep a job, I need money to pay bills, I cant leave my brother and the list goes on, I cant do what I want because of these restrictions, normal, every day restrictions that I cant get rid of yet dont want to keep either. As I said...its complicated" he said with a sigh as he took a cheese stick and nibbled on it, looking down at the menu but not really reading it at all right now.

"Ah..." Keahi considered for a few moments, quietly tapping a finger on the table. When someone came by he asked for a triple-shot mocha and biscotti; when those came he nibbled on the sweet hardened cookies thoughtfully, pushing the plate into the center of the table for Blythe if he wanted any.

"It seems to me that most of the humans that take us in know that eventually they'll end up with a 'bad apple' or two. I'm not insinuating anything at all, but... they all seem to know that they need to be ready for anthros with complicated lives. They need to know more than most people that nobody's perfect and they need to keep their minds and hearts open far more than most." He chuckled a little, feeling sheepish. "In a way, they have as big a job as any pack leader. They have to keep us hidden, safe, and try to support us in any way we can."

He looked up at Blythe and spoke with all sincerity. "From what I know, you have nothing to worry about with Lenore. She has been there for Kim, right? She'll be there for you. My father and I will be there for you too... I'm trying to be like him; even if I never become a pack leader, it really feels good to do what I can for people. So if for whatever reason things don't work out at home for you, you know you can come to us, right? I know it doesn't make your life much simpler, but peace of mind is something..."

He shrugged then and grinned, taking another bite of the biscotti. He had finished it by the time the coffee arrived.

As the buttercat finished his cheese stick he picked up a biscotti and listened to the fire hybrid speak and then softly sighed, feeling a little bit more ressasured. The buttercat spoke to another waiter passing by, having stopped to take orders as he went and the buttercat ordered a large white chocolate mocha with a medium sized plate of chocolate mint sticks that were a favorite of his.

The buttercat watched the waiter go after he had taken the order and looked back at the hybrid across from him and nodded "your right, Lenore has been good to the others so far, great to Kim. I guess I havent gotten used to the place yet so its a little to hard pass proper judgement as of yet, I guess im ignorant to an extent, I guess I should just wait for a few more weeks before passing any other judgement."

Blythe finished his biscotti and picked up another cheese stick and started nibbling on it as he thought over the other thing the hybrid said and blushed a little, never have had this sort of kindess before. "I...I couldnt ask you to do that, thank you but all the same, I dont want to be a bother even if worst came to pass, I couldnt intrude on you like that. I dont want t be an inconveniance to anyone, it wouldnt be polite, thank you for the offer though, it is kind of you, but I just wouldnt be able to take you up on it."

He said softly to the other, having been dependent on only his brother and himself for so long, he really didnt like depending on others, it was rude to an extent and it wasnt fair on the other person either. Blythe hated being an inconveniance to anyone, he didnt want to put someone else out, it wasnt fair and best he just didnt do it.

"Oh yes, just give it time," Keahi agreed readily. "I know it must be difficult to trust people, but if nothing else... just sit back and watch. See how everyone within your home treats one another. Take care to notice how they treat you. You'll see." The firecat-fox was all confidence in this. Besides, if it didn't work out at home, Blythe could always strike out on his own.

He waved Blythe's refusal off. "Don't be silly. Everyone needs a support net, friends to fall back on, a place to stay in an emergency. And it's not like you'd be leeching off of anyone, I'm sure you'd pull your own weight. And, you're a cat. My dad's the cat alpha. It makes sense that in a time of need you would be able to go to one of your pack leaders for help. It would not be an inconvenience."

Smiling with a certain amount of contentment, Keahi lifted the mocha to his lips and drank the liquid bliss. Blistering heat and bug-eye strong and oh-so-chocolaty.

"I will" he promised the other "I will take note and everything, I have a few frinds there already, I also know I can turn to Absinthe if need be, that being if I cant get to anyone else. I just will take each day as it comes" he said to the other, his drink arriving moments later along with his chocolate mint sticks "thank you" he said as he picked a stick up and nibbled on it as the waiter left after putting down the two items.

"Help yourself" he said as he pushed the plate over to the middle of the table "and as I said, thank you but I wont be taking you up on the offer, I can get a support group without crashing at the cat alphas place. I...I just wouldnt feel right about it" he said as he finished his mint stick and took a sip of his drink after putting a couple of mashmellows in.

"No thanks," Keahi waved the mint sticks away. He was more of a cinnamon person. He sipped at his coffee, looking away thoughtfully. The fireplace glistened out of the corner of his eye. This was exactly the kind of thing he had been warned about. It was not like he wanted everyone to move in of course, but how could they get all the packs to unite as a community when members within just one pack could not trust one another or count on the other? Sure, not everyone is going to want help and independence is commendable. But... when a simple offer of help in case of emergency is flatly turned down... Well... at least the offer was there, on the table for whatever good that might do.

It wasnt that ht didnt want to accept the offer it was just that he had been brought up by just his brother and himself for so long that he really didnt like to accept help from others, it was his stubborness shining through but still it was just how he was. Blythe reached over and placed a hand on top of the hybrids nd smiled softly to him "I will think about it" he said to the other sincerly "thank you for the offer, I promise to at least think about it" he said as he squeezed the othershand as if to back up what he said and then picked up another mint stick and nibbled on it.

Well, it was a start... Keahi watched Blythe over his cup as he finished it off. Setting it down, he nodded, then looked down at the biscotti and took one to munch on. "So it looks like you're feeling a little better?" He looked up at Blythe with a little smile.

"Yes, I am feeling a bit better" he said to the other, pleased he meet up with the other tonight "thank you"he said smiling at the other, half wondering what else he could eat. "So" he said as he looked over the menu "what stuff do you like?" He asked the hybrid curiously "like if someone knew you and wanted to give you a gift, what would you prefer?" He asked as he picked up his drink and took another sip of it before picking up a mint stick and nibbling on it.
