"That's a great idea!" She told Aoaka as he went off to find decorations. She made a few trees and realy watched the children.
Cutter smiled happily at Debi. He was glad she liked his suggestion! He finished making towers and then decided to work on a draw-bridge.

Debi continued her enthusiastic work on the moat, though most of it wasn't as wide as that one part. It was kind of lumpy in shape, and not at all uniform in depth, but Debi didn't seem to care. She was having fun digging in the sand!
Aoaka soon came back with a couple handfuls of decorations. He had a few lengths of kelp leaves draped over his arm, and in his hands he held small shells, and a few wave polished pebbles, as well as some pieces of driftwood and some flowers he'd picked from a bush.
"Well, let's see what we can do with this, okay? I think we could make the pebbles and shells into building decorations, and I was going to try and make the paths more obvious with the kelp... Maybe you have some ideas for the wood and the flowers?" he asked Tawny and the others.

Cutter watched Debi and laughed. She was so little and happy with such little things. He went back to his building. "Good juob, Debi!"
Tawny nodded, "Those are great ideas!" She took the flowers, "Maybe they can be for street lights? Or in the park?" She took a piece of the wood, stuck it into the ground and then put the flower on top.

Aoaka nodded, and said, "I think they should go in the park... I think I have some shells here that will work for lights. How's it going over there, Cutter? Do you need some decorations? We might have to go look for more," he added as he looked at what he'd brought.
Debi stopped in her digging, and frowned. He hadn't said anything about her... thingy. She couldn't remember what it was called. So she got up, and patted him on the shoulder.
"Papa! Look!" she said, and pointed.
"That's very good, Debi. You keep up the good work, okay? We'll find a way to decorate that, too, when it's finished," he said.
That satisfied the toddler, and she went back to her work as enthusiastic as ever. She was making pretty good progress, too.

"It's looking good." It looked like a little city by the beach. It just needed a few more touches. "Yeah, what do you need, baby?" She asked Cutter.
"Umm...stuff for protecting the castle and um...more flags?" He wasn't sure what else they needed, he thought it looked great already.

"Do you think some larger pieces of driftwood would make good protection for the castle?" Aoaka asked, and looked around at the bits of smooth white wood poking up here and there from the sand. There was always driftwood about.
Debi was rounding the last curve back to the castle, and would soon have a moat around Tawny, as well as the rest of the sand city. She didn't see any problem with that, and was simply content to fling sand, though she was careful not to get too much onto anyone.

((Sorry it took so long to write back. sweatdrop Crazy week...))
"That's a really good idea. Then the castle will really be protected." Tawny smiled and nodded to Aoaka. She spotted out of the corner of her eye the waves, they were getting closer...
Cutter spotted the moat around his Mother and laughed. He guessed that woudl keep his Mom out of trouble and then wondered how long it would take for her to notice.

Debi was growing a bit tired, and so she stopped flinging sand in favor of just plopping it nearby as she reached the end. When she finally broke through, she cried, "Yay! All done! Look, all done!" and pointed at it excitedly.
"That's a great job, Debi. You're a good digger! Now it needs some water..." Aoaka wasn't at all sure about how to get the water from the lake to the moat... they had no cups or buckets. Maybe if they made a channel from the water... but this was above the lake, so it wouldn't flow all the way in. Maybe Tawny and Cutter knew how, and he looked at them questioningly as he finished his sentence.
Debi, meanwhile, had flopped back into the sand. She was lying spread eagle, and after a few moments, decided to make a sand angel. But she pushed some the sand she'd just dug out back into the moat.

"That's wonderful, Debi." She smiled and then wondered along with Aoaka. "Hm...how do we get the water?" Tawny stared at the lake and then back at the moat.
Cutter looked at the adults and then smiled. He walked a ways away and then came back with a rock that was cupped, "Would this work for getting water?"

Aoaka smiled and nodded. "I think that will work fine, Cutter. Let's see how it... Oh!" he suddenly stopped, looking surprised, and then suddenly sheepish as well.
"I... I don't think we'll be needing it, though... I hope..." he said, and then turned to look at the water, pointing at it, and concentrating. He'd been practicing this ever since he got attacked and discovered it, but he still wasn't very good at it.
Debi knew what was going on, and sat up, clapping her hands. Her Papa did this a lot in the cave, and they sometimes played catch me if you can! Maybe he would play that now! But he seemed distracted...
For Aoaka's part, he was very nervous. He'd never done this with an audience that wasn't Debi before, and he didn't want to mess up. But, as he turned and looked at the moat, he gestured with his finger, and a small spout of water arched up and over the sand, landing with a bit of a splashy mess in the wide "lake" that Debi had dug earlier.
"Yay! Splish splash!" Debi cheered, happy her moat was being filled.

Tawyn watched with real interest and smiled, "That's really neat, Aoaka!" Tawny had seen other powers before and had her own, but they always surprized her when she saw them.
"Wow, cool!" Cutter clapped as well. He wondered what his power was, this one seemed cool!

Aoaka ducked his head, coloring slightly. "Really?" he asked. Debi thought it was neat, but then again, she thought bits of seaweed were neat at this point. Sometimes, anyway.
The moat was now mostly filled, and the remaining water that was arched across the span now fell down, making a blobby stripe of wet sand.
Debi reached a hand into the moat, and played in the water, splashing her hand into it. She'd found something to entertain herself with, at least for a moment, now that she didn't have anything to dig in.
Aoaka sat back down. "I'm still working on it. The first time I used it... well, I was scared, and it just happened. That wasn't very long ago. It's harder to do when I'm thinking about it," he said, feeling the need to explain it a bit.
Then he ducked his head a little. "Do you have powers?" he asked, sounding a bit embarrassed to be doing so.
