I live in a pretty awesome place. My sister was walking around our neighborhood and a deer bounded out in front of her. I always see wild turkeys sitting in the trees, which is hillarious. And I live in a very, VERY rural area so the sky is huge and the sunsets are awesome. My home has to be the prettiest place.

You should post a picture so we know what it looks like. ^_^
Please do!

This is a great thread! I love to read where people live or have visited... best way to get good travel info. smile

I've been to Taiwan, but only a little bit of it. There is an amazing area on the northern coast with these interesting rock formations. Like the sheet of rock that touched the water was pushed up/wrinkled then left there. Also the mountains there are beautiful - like the Chinese brush paintings with those tall green mountains.

There are also scenes like that in the North Cascades in WA. The mountains are on either side of the Puget Sound. This area in WA is beautiful, although I have not been to the San Juan Islands as someone posted early in this thread. The coast is beautiful too - there are famous sandy kite-flying beaches, but I prefer the rocky beaches to the North. I've been to the Makah reservation - someone posted a few pics of that area in the photo thread I believe. I am a native Washingtonian, so am biased but it really is amazing. Eastern WA has its own beauty as well, although I haven't been there very much.

Other lovely places include Puerto Vallarta, the island of Hawaii (the Big Island) and Golden Colorado/Rocky mts.

The towns outside of Boston in the fall are awesome...

I have not traveled enough in the US though. I'd like to see more of the east coast, midwest and southwest.

Yay! Another Nor'wester!
I'm an Oregonian, but I live on the Columbia, so... I'm about as close to Washington as you can get without actually living there.
Well, I did live there. Until college. Now I live in the south. stare
Of course, I don't want to offend anyone who lives over here by choice. sweatdrop I just miss the Pacific Northwest. I will say, though, that the sunsets on my campus are absolutely amazing. The sky lights up with the most brilliant colors almost every evening as we're headed to dinner. I would sit outside so that I could watch them, but there are usually at least 20 people sitting out there smoking... which is not pleasent.

I travel maybe twice every year. Sometimes more, sometimes less.

I lucked out with being able to take the trip to Mexico last year (and Hawaii this year actually).

There are so many places in the United States that I have not been to yet. And lots of places in the NW I've yet to see.

But thinking maybe Alaska someday...

I'm ashamed to say that Oregon is a place I have yet to really visit extensively. I went to some dunes when I was a kid, and a short trip for work but never really seeing anything. I know it's beautiful there... and on the Columbia - that must be very very beautiful! biggrin

now you live in the South - you mean Southern U.S.?

I would like to visit there... hope you can find some smoke-free sky-watching spots soon. smile

Yes, North Carolina specifically, though I'm currently spending Thanksgiving in South Carolina with a friend.

We were out driving yesterday and he took me to see the Angel Oak, supposedly the oldest living tree on the east coast. or oldest Oak tree, I'm not sure. She's absolutely gorgeous. A trunk that you need 15 people to surround, with huge, thick branches curling up and around and dipping down to the ground. I only wish there weren't so many people there. It's a popular tourist spot here in Charleston, apparently, but I'm sure it would be incredibly peaceful without all the people scrambling around.

And the Columbia river Gorge is gorgeous. I wish I could have seen it before it got so polluted, I'll bet it was breathtaking. Driving down the gorge in the spring is wonderful though. All the little waterfalls poking through the greenery of the hillsides. It looks like something out of a fantasy novel.

I want to go to sooooo many beautiful places.....
Japan
England
Scottland
Irland
Australia
India
and there might be more but I still havn't left Canada.... But I did go to Algonquin park once and the campsite we were at was on a giant rock and you could see everything and it was really beautiful and we also witnessed some otters and a family of loons and it was just amazing. I really enjoyed that trip but I didn't lik the fact that it took a 2 hour canoe ride with no rest stop and well I really had to go to the bathroom. lol sweatdrop
