Riyo's eyes shot over to Blade at the mention of Francias. She'd hoped to avoid discussion about that, actually. "I'm sure he'd find a way to sniff me out." She mumbled, hand propping up her head. "It's just a matter of time. Ever been a hunter Blade? If the initiative is high enough, you can do just about anything."
She picked up a stick that had been laying next to her and poked at the embers of the fire. "It'll be awhile though. The whole police thing sort of left him high and dry. He'll need to rebuild his resources before he even thinks about going after the big fish again."

"Can't say I have. At least of living things. Usually I'm the one being hunted if anything."
Blade brought his gaze back down from the sky and onto the fire. She did have several good points there though. Still, he didn't really like the thought of it actually happening. Riyo, Inu, and possibly Poke as well were most likely the prime targets.
"Hopefully when he does come, he won's succeed again. No one should have to go through those things.. ever."

Riyo took a brief pause after Blade finished speaking. She re-adjusted herself where she sat and rubbed her chin. "What makes you say that, Blade?" Her head tilted slightly to the side. She already knew the answer to the question, so she didn't give him time to answer it. "The tragedies and pain in life are what make us more grateful for the peace we do have. Sometimes, that's what it takes to make us realize how lackluster we've been about living."
She paused, eyes glancing to Horatius, who promptly looked back at her. "I'm not mad about what happened."

As she asked a question then quickly went on before he could give his answer, the thief watched Riyo. For a moment, he was a bit confused when she said she wasn't mad, but then again. As far as he could tell her, she didn't seem even the slightest vengeful.
"Heh. Well light can't exist without shadows, and vice versa I guess. But... it's good to know that you aren't angered.."
Personally, if it were himself put through all of it, he probably would have wanted blood.
"But... would you want to go through all of it again?"

Riyo thought about Blade's question...
And for once, she didn't have an answer. "Ask me again another time." She replied simply.
Did she want to go through it again? Not really... But to say she wouldn't...
She wasn't sure. She just... Wasn't sure.
"What drives you on, Blade? What makes you keep going through it all?" Her eyes were browsing around out in the forest, instead of looking at him. It was a question she wanted to know, so maybe she could answer her own question.

Blade made a mental note to do just that at some point in the future. He couldn't see why she or anyone would actually want to go through those things twice, but he supposed there could be a reason. From what she said before, it seemed that the whole ordeal had some sort of positive effect on her after all.
At the question, he shifted his eyes from the fire and onto Riyo. It took him a few moments to think about his answer, seeing how he didn't have anything that was really straightforward.
"What drives me? It's hard to say. Right now... I'm trying to find out more of the past. So I guess you could say the need for that knowledge keeps me going... but I don't think that's all there is."
"I now have some who depend on me," he added while patting Kaen on the head as the Charmander wandered over by his side, "And I also a few other who care somewhat about me... well I think so at least. I.. might be wrong there..."
Shaking his head, he looked back at her.
"But.. you could say that I don't want to let them down. And to keep from doing that, I need to keep going... keep surviving."

The past? Riyo hadn't known that Blade questioned his past... Though, she didn't know much more other than he was a thief. Didn't really come up in conversation that often.
Though, as he explained the second part of his answer, Riyo thought that sounded reasonable. To live for your pokemon. That's all good and well. If all else failed, one could dedicate their life to these creatures, since it was obvious they'd do the same.
"I doubt they think you've let them down." She finally commented, also noting the charmander she'd never seen before. Blade was beginning to have quite the collection, wasn't he?

"Well.. I could argue that I've let Poke, Inu, and you down to an extent.."
Shaking his head to himself, Blade let out a small sigh while looking around at Riyo's own pokemon for a moment. After a bit of silence, he focused back on her.
"But yeah. So I guess the past, my pokemon, and friends or allies are the three things that keeps this thief going forward."

"How could you have possibly done anything to make the outcome different?" Riyo's eyes shot to him. "Honestly Blade. What a dumb thing to say. Unless you have the power to make miracles happen and cast one hundred rockets off of you, I doubt there was a thing you could've done that you didn't do already."
"s**t happens. After it's all said and done, there's nothing you can do about it. S'like crying over spilt milk. And if you dwell on it, then you'll never move forward to prevent it from happening again." Her voice was a little snappy, but she kept herself under control for the most part.

For a moment, he stared back at her, then shook his head to himself. She was right; there wasn't anything he really could have done back there. He wished he could have, but she was also right that he shouldn't dwell on it.
"Heh, you have a point there Riyo," said Blade while closing his eyes for a bit, "Sorry if I angered you with that."
After finishing up his pop, he let out a sigh and spoke up again.
"What about you? What keeps you going?"

"Dunno." It was a quick reply. As if she didn't give a bit of thought to it. "I've never been able to figure that one out. And when I think that I've found what I'm looking for, something changes completely to make that almost impossible."
Lancelot, who had no desire to listen to the grown-ups, finished his can of soda, sat it next to Riyo, and started darting around the area. To which, Riyo and the other pokemon just watched. When you're out in the forest, there isn't too much in the way of entertainment besides eachother. And it was obvious that Lancelot had been one of those major sources.

"I see. Well hopefully you'll be able to find that sooner or later."
As Lancelot started to zip around the place, Blade looked over towards him. So much for him sitting still. But seeing the Riolu run around made Gouku get up and start chasing him just for the heck of it. He liked running around and getting rid of energy too after all.
All of the sudden commotion made the butterfree begin to panic once again.
"W-What's going on!? W-wh-why are you running around? Stop that! Y-you might hurt yourself!!"
Amused with the antics of the pokemon, Blade noticed that a particular skitty was no where in sight. As he recalled, Ri-Chan could usually be seen near Riyo most of the time.
"Hey, where's Ri-Chan?"

Lancelot barely took notice to the butterfree screaming at them about the dangers of what they were doing. "AYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYA" He started yelling as he bounced off trees like a little pinball.
Riyo didn't stay distracted by the Riolu for long... Blade had asked where Ri-chan was. She looked up at him and sighed, then stood. "Follow me."
It was, as stated before, a short distance to the temple/structure. As they walked inside, one would notice the bundle of clothing in the corner... With something pink.
"M'nyuu?" A weak little voice called up. Ri-chan peeked out of the balled-up trenchcoat, eyes immediately focused on Riyo with a small smile.
"She's been sick ever since we got out of the base. I'm not sure what's wrong with her."

As Riyo stood up and beckoned him to follow, Blade got up as well and began to walk after her.
"Stay out of trouble guys," he said to his pokemon before making his way towards the temple. He wasn't so sure if any of them heard him, seeing how they all seemed to be focused on the hyper riolu at the time being.
Once they were there, he took a moment to look around the inside of the ancient temple. He hadn't been anywhere like there, so it was quite a sight to him. However, his attention soon went over to the skitty in the corner. For a moment, he glanced to Riyo, then went and knelt down by the bundle.
"I see..." he started while reaching out to pet the small pokemon, "Has she been getting any better...?"

Riyo gave a slight shrug. "She'll get a little better, then fade back into a sickly state." Riyo mumbled out with a frown, looking away. There were few things she felt guilty about anymore. But letting her poor Skitty's condition get this bad was at the top of the list right now.
At the feel of a warm hand on her head, Ri-chan let out a weak mew of happiness. Blade? Was that Blade? It sure was. Nice to see a familiar face, she supposed.
