Rashkae blinked in surprise at the sound halt of her friend, but intsinctively followed suit and paused herself. She laughed as she realized it was just a furry little squirrel. How cute!
Canting her head to hear the Usida better she smiled, that would be a good idea for the both of them! "Swimming would be wonderful at this time of year," She agreed enthusiastically.
"Fish? Oh, I haven't really ever watch them before, perhaps that would be fun too." Fish didn't fall into her cateogory of creatures to look over, so she could be curious about them if she wished.

Ahote smiled and shifted his front feet a bit.
"Great! I love the water. I used to be afraid of it, but then this Soquili named Kitsune taught me how to swim, and its a lot of fun! There's a stream nearby. Just follow me!"
With that, he turned and trotted off eastward. He wandered around and explored quite a bit, so most of these lands were pretty familiar to him. He knew exactly where he was going.

Rashkae grinned, "Swimming...If I remember correctly, my sister taught me. She's an absolute fish in the water." A soft giggle and a shake of her head. That could be--and often was--quite true.
Blinking in a shadow of surprise at the sudden shift in both direction and leadership of the two, Rashkae shrugged and simply followed the little Usida, content to let him lead the way to where ever he was going. He had a bit of faith in the little male.

Ahote trotted towards a small hill to the left of where they had been walking. It was littered with various wildflowers, and he did his best to avoid stepping on them.
"Its just over this hill here. Its really pretty! You'll like it."
As they reached the top of the hill, a few trees came into view on the banks of a sparkling stream. He smiled before trotting off down the hill.

Rashkae followed obediently, curious as to their destination. She couldn't imagine where they could be going except for perhaps something related to what they had just been discussing/ What a delight it would be to swim again! She hadn't in ages.
"Oh, my!" She gasped, surprised at the peaceful little setting he had shown to her, "Such a lovely place you have found..." She trotted after him, casting her gaze about to apprieciate the scenery.

Ahote smiled as watched Rashkae as they approached the lush area by the stream.
"See, I knew you'd like it!"
As he reached the banks, he hopped into the stream, but only up to ankle deep. He watched as the slowly flowing water detoured around his feet. He kept his eyes peeled for any fish swimming nearby. He loved watching those little creatures. They were the best swimmers around!

Rashkae laughed easily, tossing her head, "Who wouldn't like this place, Ahote?" She asked, smiling, "it's lovely."
She blew a few strangds of hair out of her face and followed the Usida's actions, stepping into the water herself, though it barely touched her own ankles.
She tilted her head to curiousily, not knowing what he was looking for and in the process, thoroughly soaking her long tinted hair. Did she mind? Certainly not at the moment.
"What are we looking for, Ahote?" She asked, chuckling.

Ahote giggled, taking his eyes off of the stream to look up at Raskhae.
"Well, I'm trying to see if I can find any fish. You should see them swim! They're really good at it!"
He looked back at the water, and moved forward, getting to deeper water that reached up, almost to his whithers.
"Are you going to look for them? You really should see one if you've never seen them swim before. I'll tell you if I see one!"
He glued his eyes on the flowing water, trying to spot a fish under the distorted view of the flowing water.

Rashkae's ears perked for a moment and she laughed, "Oh, yes, fish." She answered, long tail flicking and splattering water in every direction.
She watched him briefly for a moment and then took her own look at the water, "I've seen fish before," She answered, smiling, "And they are lovely swimmers, aren't? It's a pity they can't talk or breathe outside of the water. I wonder what they could tell us."
Busy with her task, she allowed herself to reminisce a bit, if only for a few moments.

Ahote thought about that for a second. What could the fish tell them? And how did they really know that they couldn't talk. Perhaps they had just never heard them, since they couldn't breathe outside of the water. Well, could they hear them under the water?
"Well, what if we could hear them underneath the water? Maybe they are talking, but we just can't hear them..."
After thinking for a little bit longer, he suddenly dunked his head under the water, making quite a splash around him.

Rashkae shrugged, "Well, I suppose that's a possibility, my sister always said they could--" She stopped, blinking and looking up at the sound of the splash. Had Ahote just dunked his head under the water? Was that safe?
"Ah--! Ahote? I-I'm not sure that's incredibly wise..." She took a step toward him, wondering if he was or would be alright. Soquili can't breathe underwater afterall...

Ahote held his head underwater for a few seconds before opening his eyes. It was a bit blurry, but he could distinguish shapes, so he looked around to see it he could spot any fish swimming around. But, more importantly, he listened hard to see if they were talking.
As he held his head there, he heard a muffled voice. He couldn't tell exactly what it was saying, but one of the words sounded like his name! Were the fish talking to him?!
He pulled his head quickly out of the water, and looked around for Raskae. He was surprised to see he closer to him than she was before. But that wasn't important right now. It was the fish!
"Rashkae, the fish know my name!!! It sounded like they were saying my name! They can talk!! You have to listen! Here, put your head underwater and you can hear them!!!"

Rashkae blinked at his sudden outburst, his head suddenly bursting out and spraying drops of water everywhere. She paused, ears flicking for a moment and then shook her head, chuckling a little bit at his words, "Indeed? Are you sure it wasn't me, Ahote? I was calling you." She pointed out.
The possibility of the fish actually talking wasn't something she didn't believe, but that the fish would know Ahote's name? That wasn't likely unless he had told them. Had he told him? She couldn't remember.

Ahote's face went blank as he thought about this possibility for a moment. Was it Rashkae, instead of the fish? Well, that did make sense, as he hadn't actually seen the fish...just thought he heard them.
"Oh...well, I guess it was you, then."
He sighed. He had been so excited at the thought of the fish talking to him. But just because it wasn't them this time, that didn't mean they couldn't talk at all. He smiled, looking back at Rashkae.
"Oh well. It was cool to think about, though!"
He giggled a bit and shook the drops of water off of his head.

Rashkae's ears flattened in a touch of sadness. Ahote sounded less than pleased with this development. "Don't feel bad, Ahote, maybe it was the fish tha were talking to you and I was just talking with them?" She offered a possible solution to the problem.
A hesitant smile was given in return to Ahote's and she nodded once, "Yes, yes it was." She wondered if the little Usida was only pretending for her sake and that he was really disappointed in this fact.
