Thanks Shushi. Lol, I still find it funny though that everyone is liking my Bottled Thoughts one though. As like I said, I'm not particularly fond of myself. But I am loving the Lingering Mist one very much. And yes, I know the description needs a little something more to make it interesting. I was thinking it would be interesting to say it's the smoke from the Eternal Flame essence, that instead of having discovered one essence, Kyou actually had discovered two!

I really like the idea of a predetorial plant for a soul. I still remember seeing the Venus Fly Traps in biology class.
Of the essences, I like the Cursed Vanity best. However, you've described its physical features: obsidian, natural, but non-reflective. But what impact will it have upon the VFT Soul? How is the non-reflective rock related to the name the essence has been given? Does it make others more vain in appearance? Does it make people feel someone else is acting vain? Does their vanity boil over like molten lava or cause their tempers to fume over like a volcano on the verge of erruption? Essentially, what does your fel essence do, aside from not reflect things (and possibly absorb stuff)?
There are other black rocks that are fel essences: Rivener's Nocturne Rock, and Zul's Lava Ice (though it hasn't been formally defined by Kyou).

You bring up a vital point Natsuki. The name is a good name, but unfortunately doesn't really fit with the description I've placed on it. Though, I must admit that I'm feeling myself part from that particular essence. I am seriously leaning towards the Lingering Mist one now. Though that's not to say I don't appreciate your opinion because I very much do and I will take it into consideration as I try to figure out which essence it is I want to pursue. Thanks!

No worries at all, Ebony. wink I blame my jetlag for not noticing it sooner. Quote: Extra Essence 2 Wrote: Lingering Mist This smoke simply refuses to dissipate even after the fire of which had created it has long since been snuffed out. Or maybe it was never put out at all, yet merely taken away. For the area in which this essence was found was the same one in which the doctor had discovered the 'Eternal Flames' essence. Could that be the fire that created this smoke? Is it possible for essences to spawn other essences? If you are going to use mist, then your essence would be water based, unless its a special sort of fire water. What you are describing could be exhaust (like from a car) or smog (smoke + fog [water]). The djinn (genies) were known to emanate from a "fireless smoke", and that seems more like what you are describing. I think you might want to refrain from mentioning other fel essences within your own essence description, and think about a different location, so as to make your essence unique from Lazzie's. It's a good question to ask if essences can spawn others but I don't know if it makes your idea stand out. It somewhat seems that you are leaning heavily upon Lazzie's essence to carry your own. What will this essence do? Will it cause fire without a flame? Will it allow your raevan to produce smoke screens? If its stems from a poisonous gas, it could cause your predetorial plant to be able to heal instead of poison people. Maybe the VFT's bite is a healing one or can remove toxins (for example if Rivener manages to poison someone). Think of how it will impact your raevan, and how it would turn around and affect others.

Opps, forgot to mention it in an actual post. I've narrowed my decisions back down to Cursed Vanity and Lingering Smoke since those two are the ones I'm spending more time on developing at the moment and that everyone else seems to like the most. Besides, I'm really liking the smoke one and the mirror one is still intriguing me. So yeah, I've updated those two and changed the poll. Let me know what you think. Thanks!

That's right! Brand new! New Fel Essence in my consideration list. Though under consideration doesn't exempt it from critique so have at it everyone.
Also, check out my Alternative Souls list. I think you'll agree with me that the first alter is rather interesting. mrgreen
Oh and on a side note, new graphics will be coming since my quest has evolved much.

I'm strangely drawn to the Lingering Smoke concept for some reason, it could be taken in a lot of different directions since smoke and vapor can be associated with quite a few things. XD Hallucinations and drugs come to mind at first, admittedly, but there's also smoke signals and things like that. Thinking back on the Summer Fest, the fel essences that made the finals had a little story behind them, so I recommend thinking on that a bit for your ideas in general. For example, since the Yggdrasill tree and the rest of the world was destroyed in a chaotic storm, things probably got struck by lightning and caught fire; maybe the smoke drifted off from there? What might have happened to make the Empathic Bloom able to read emotions? (there's a small story why the Cloud of Despair has the power to cause negative emotions, but it's something that I've yet to bring up in my future Raevan's story. I think Aph's Nocturne Rock has a bit of a backstory, too.) ...and hey, if you like seahorses, why not check out leafy sea dragons? C8 I'm drawn to the dragonfly soul, but that's mainly because I love insects more than a person should. XD; God of Insects is a good place to go if you want more bug soul-ideas -- I HIGHLY recommend looking at lanternflies (under 'Other Insects') if you want something pretty. They're my favorite insect, and I'd probably be getting one a' those if I weren't netting an eagle.

All valid points. Yes, the Lingering Smoke still intrigues me as well and giving it more of a back story is sure to only strengthen it as well as that of the Empathic Bloom. As much as it pains me to say it, I think it would be a lot easier to come up with a back story for the smoke than the bloom, yet who knows what I'll come up with. I'm starting to think these two are my main hitters now because I just think they have a lot more potential than my half-baked Cursed Vanity. Although still an interesting experiment, it highly lacks in what I can easily provide with the others...if that makes any sense, lol.
And yes, I did indeed check out the leafy sea dragon while I was researching the sea horse. They are rather unique, but reminds me too much of the Venus Flytrap which I still haven't abandoned just yet. And ah yes, the Dragonfly is totally awesome, but I haven't completely been bought off by it yet. And now that I've checked that site out, I believe I do remember you're lanternfly which is very beautiful, though I don't know. Darn you Mouse for giving me yet more choices. If this keeps up, I'll never be able to choose one of them, lol. But nonetheless, thank you for your suggestions yet again. They are always welcomed.

All righty ya'll! I've picked, I've plucked, I've vamped and revamped more times than I care to count on this quest. Yet, I've finally decided that I will be going with my Lingering Smoke essence and the Venus Flytrap as the soul. (Yeah it made it through! heart Lol)
Annnnnd, let's not forget the brand new banners and sig I've got to go with it. I know they seem sort of simple compared to the previous ones, but...sometimes simple is best. Besides, I think they look quite good and appropriate for the quest. NOW, how's about we get more crits and whatnot for me. mrgreen

New poll added. I'm not really sure which alignment to go with for Ashe. Some help would be much appreciated.

I voted the last option of "A little bit of both" since like Mouse said up there, smoke can be of help yet when one see smoke, it is usually from fire and can choke a person to death. So I think that a little bit of both, to me is appropriate =D

Okay, so I've had my alignment poll up for sometime now and I think enough people have voted to give me a good idea in which direction I should go. So Ashe will be a little bad and a little good. But this wasn't soley based on the response to my poll, but also from my examination of my own rp past. My characters have never been totally true to one pure alignment. They've also been a little of both with a slight leaning to one end of the spectrum or the other. This is largely because I'm neither one or the other myself, and I often find some of my own personality spilling into my chars from time to time.
Anyhow, thank you all for your help, but I must kindly ask for it again with my new poll that I'll be posting here in a minute. I've chosen 2 different alignments that could be a good fit for Ashe, but I need your help to decide which one is best.
And yes, you'll find that Chaotic Neutral isn't a choice because I feel that there are far too many Raevans with that alignment already. As many have said, the Lab could always use some more drama and conflict, hehe.

As much as I would have loved an evil Raevan...I had to carefully look at what this Raevan was made of and how I've started to see her. So I've chosen to go with everyone else and make her Chaotic Good. Not bad, but not entirely good either. Be sure to check out the Raevan portion of this quest because I've made some changes other than just picking an alignment. And I would still greatly appreciate any crits and comments.
I kinda see what she might look like in my head and although I still want the artist to retain most of the creative flexibilty, I would like her to have like hair made of smoke and her wings to have flytrap heads on them. I think it'd look interesting. I might make a quick sketch of it. Nothing elaborate, just something to go by. Anywho, that's it. Let me know what you all think.
