It was right after his words that she stopped her grooming and smiled against his pelt, a small purr released against him, her troat against his shoulder, intensifying the vibration, "That's good enough for me..." her tone of voice was diferent from her chirpy one, indicating deep understanding; there was nothing else to ask for. She'd just wanted to demonstrate to him, and herself, that he really was as nice as she claimed, and thus mission solved, she pulled away from his neck, however, not before gracing his cheek with lick, smiling up at him, "Where do you think marshmallows live?"

Once more chirpy, her tail wagged slightly, thumping the ground before looking up, down and around, "You don't recon they'd be underground would you? I looked up in trees, and then in the rivers and then in the marshes, so I don't know where else to look for them and-" her rambling continued slightly, chattering about everything and nothing in particular as she tood and walked, making sure to stay by his side.

Indeed, she made sure to brush her side against his every so often, almost a reasurance to herself, and maybe to him too, and each time she did so, a soft purr was released for him to hear, and feel, "Maybe we should try the feild," but truthfully? The marshmallows weren't all that important by now. She'd settle for just about anything, though she figured, there was no need to voice this. Not right now anyhow.

Deigo could feel a bit of heat rise to his face as she purred against him, another akward half smile was given to her and.. what? What do you know, he even worked up the courage to nuzzle her in return, his chin rubbing into her much softer and cleaner forehead. When she left he followed, walking beside her carefully.

"I.. uh.. I'm not-t sure.. but-t I think marshmellows.. grow.. not here.. In that candy place..." He glanced at her to see if that brought back any memories on where she had found marshmellows in the past. Either way, he'd find her some. Searching was what he did best! It was all he ever did with his life now. "They're sweet-t. riiiight?"

His focus was quickly torn away from her as they walked, his ever moving eye scanning the ground and bushes around front of him. It worked in over time, moving back and forth quickly to scan both their paths. The doubled paranoia and tension was still there.. and he realized he was truly worried for her... He'd offer to carry her if he wasn't to confused about it. And if he did... that would give her the perfect opportunity for a killing blow. So he just sighed and watched to be sure she was safe. Everyonce in awhile he would dart up a couple of steps and kick away a large rock or dangerous looking twig that might look hazardous.

When she brushed his side, there was a few times that he jumped in shock, so focused on his protecting that he'd forget she was that close. But most of the time he would just flinch or twitch in reply, never moving to stop her or push her away.

"They don't grow in the marsh then?" she seemed to pause to think this over, her clawed paw raising up in the air to tap her chin in thought, "Hmmm..." looking off up ahead, she calculated the edge of the swamps lay only a few minutes away, and that since she'd been searching this whole swamp, that perhaps her new friend was right and the marshmallows were not found here at all, but in the candy section of the lands. Her mussing came to a pause as he nuzzled back, a happy purr-squeal escaping her maw before she shrunk into him, her pelt fluffing out so much that for a moment she resembled more a bird than a numa.

It was soon over though and she moved onward, blinking whenever the male rushed forward to smack a twig out of the way. Every time he did so, she'd smile, and over time, she was forced to muffle giggles; she found it extremely charming of him, rather than strange, and thus was happy enough to play along with him. Soon enough however, the female paused her step and snapped her front claws together, chirping as if she'd discovered something extremely important to numa-kind, "I remember now! The peep tree! It's marshmallow! You can pick marshmallows off of it!"

This said, she turned to clap her paws, and bolted towards the edge of the swamp, lingering by the limit the trees marked, her nose sniffling at the air. Despite really liking the candy land, her coffee nature made it hard for her to venture out into it and thus her instincts kicked in. Standing on her hind legs, the small female sniffed the air here and there and perked her ears to listen; it wasn't till she was 100% sure they'd be safe from bees, or the likes that she finally stepped out into the sunshine.

The swamps had kept her colors partially in darkness, and now within the sunlight, her pelt practically sparkled like a diamond, "It's this way!" she pointed a claw to the center-most point of Numa land, were the largest tree grew... home to the marshmallow swan, "They're really sweet and worth it!" what Deigo didn't quite know just yet... was that Huong's on horns were marshmallow flavored themselves. Not that SHE herself knew either though, "Come on!" she made sure to jump only three paces up ahead before bouncing back to the male's side "They say the marshmallow swan lives at the top of the tree, you know!"

He shook his head no in reply to her first question. Though the name might imply it, he was almost certain that marshmellows did not grow in the marshes. His always akward smile grew a bit when she fluffed herself up, thinking that that was a rather cute gesture, and that she must be very happy to do something like that.

The process of making sure her path was clear and safe, and looking around the area to make sure there were no threats continued as they reached the border of the swamps, though he did pause to blink at her with an eyebrow raised as she mentioned the swan. Diego's family was killed at a rather young age, and he'd been more or less completely alone since then, only over hearing various conversations here and there... So it was fairly safe to say that the details of the swan were lost to him. He had heard of her though, and knew that she was how children were brought into the world, but as far as rituals and stuff... Diego was clueless. But he knew she was important, and thus very powerful. Powerful also usually meant rather dangerous. That was his reasoning anyway. Having never seen a swan, he imagined a large monsterous hawk like bird, with talons large enough to swoop down and carry away any full grown coffee... In fact, the scene was played out a couple of times in his mind... Huong being swept away by a hideous white and black eagle that was seeking revenge for having her marshmellows stolen... Diego paled and tensed, then trotted up to meet her, standing in her path and frowning down at her.

"A-are eww sssure it-t's saf-fe...?"

"Safe?" for a moment, the poor female wasn't all too sure if he was talking about the swan, the peep tree, or the candy land in general, however, she decided that he simply could NOT be talking about the swan (after all, she was the most peaceful creature in numa land!), and thus had to be talking about the candy land by default, "Well, I've never had any trouble. Most the creatures here are rather peaceful... except bees ;_; nasty creatures, stay away from them... they sting," this said she moved on till the tree came into sight; there seemed to be no way to tell what was on the top, so high was it, "That's the tree!" she chirped happily.

However, before she could arrive to the tree, a flash of brown suddenly lept from a nearby bush, 'rawring' loudly as she tackled her pink body to the ground, both numas tumbling a few feet before they stopped. As the dust the pouncing had created settled down there now sat a much larger brown hued coffee male over Huong's small body. She was pressed back first into the ground, staring up at the larger male with a confused expression, "Ha Ha, got'cha!" the male cackled gleefuly before lowering his head, heavy lidded to purr at the female's maw, nuzzling his nose against hers, "Yah know, paying attention to your surroundings would do yah good, Huong, love," a pause however, as he turned his gaze to his right, noticing Deigo almost as if for the first time, "My, my, you've got company!"

Still looking rather confused, the female offered the new male a small smile, "We were looking for Marshmallows," a pause as she twisted her head so that she was looking back at Deigo, upsidedown, "He's my new friend, Deigo! Isn't he cool?" A happy squeal was released, however, she seemed 100% fine with... being pinned to the ground, for some odd reason. The situation could have been taken the wrong way, specialy if one did not know that Huong and Silos were... in fact, siblings, per se.

"I seeeee...." a smirk was tossed at Deigo and a clawed paw was arched into the air, the raptor's tongue dashing out to lick it. Not even the long scar that marked his right eye, stitches and all, seemed to subtract from the new male's natural charm, "New friend, huh? Cool huh?"
PostPosted: Thu May 24, 2007 1:11 am

Deigo sighed as she continued on, whether he mentioned anything else or not.. She obviously knew more about candyland than he did (Though he had been in it many times, searching for his brother). So he just walked beside her and looked around franticly, trying to be sure no one threatened or hurt them... And of course, right when he was looking the other way, the brown flash came out and pounced Huong.

His one gold eye was wide as he stared for a moment, hearing and seeing their affectionate aditude towards eachother. The over paranoid coffee didn't even hesitate, in a flash of blue that rivaled the other's speed he was on the other male. Instead of him being on top of Huong he was no under Diego, his large talons gripping Silios' shoulders tightly. Though he didn't puncture the skin so quickly, since Huong seemed to know the male, and if he killed him Diego would be afraid she'd be sad. But that didn't mean he couldn't rough him up a bit for even thinking he could touch her. He bared his tusk like teeth down at him and growled.

Finding himself under Deigo's grip, the raptor male smirked; his tusks seemed to protude even further through his lips, and he seemed to confident he was practicaly radiating it, "Chill, man!" he gave no further explanation, but either way seemed perfectly unpreocupied by the other male, no matter how violent he wasm "Hey, Huong! Tell your boyfriend here I'm not about to eat you up, kay honey-pie? At least not that way ;D!"

Of course, any and all hint passed right over the female's head, and she merely blinked as she rolled over into a sitting position, smiling at both of them (Oh goodie! They were getting along just fine! They were already rolling around playing with one another, oh charm, oh charm!!), "Silos is nice!" this said, and because.... let's face it, Huong was Huong, she stepped forward and moved to place the upper part of her body over Deigo's back, nuzzling and purring as she waggled her tail, "We can all be friends!"

A chuckle from Slos as he smirked up at Deigo. His instincts told him that this male didn't want to be friends. At least not the way Huong thought, either way; oh lordy lord. This was amusing. He was going to have to take advantage of this situation! This ins mind, and taking the moment the female pressed herself against Deigo as an oportunity, he pushed slightly and slipped out from under the blue numa's grip. Stepping a pace away he looked over his shoulder to see the results of his shove; he'd been cleverly aiming to.... make Deigo fall on Huong, making him lose his balance, but he was unsure if it'd worked out or not.

Either way this would be amusing, "Well wel, are you two on your way to the Swan's tree?" a smirk, "Well, don't let this coffee interrupt you both then!" and this said, he walked away, chuckling to himself.
PostPosted: Thu May 24, 2007 12:05 pm

Deigo blushed slightly when Silios made the 'boyfriend' comment, though it didn't stop him from glaring down at the male, his claws still tightly clenched around his shoulders. The sudden presence of Huong on his back did startle him, but he still managed to keep his grip. His blushed deepened and he glanced over his shoulder at Huong, frowning. "H-huong! That-t's not..." He didn't get to finish his sentence, for Silios cut him off by shoving him.

Deigo was never really that graceful whenever he was startled, his edgy nerves making his muscles react in over time and usualy make him rather clumsy... So it was very likely that he would topple backward, turning in an attempt to catch himself before he landed on Huong. Though, as cliche` as it was... He wasn't fast enough, and landed on top of her, his nose pressing firmly against her's. He blinked slowly and lingered in that possition for a moment then sat up quickly, the fur on his neck standing on end.

"Uhh..."

Not? Not what?

Before she could inquire as to what he meant, the male raptor had shoved them both off, causing them to crash in a rather awkward position. Despite the surprise of finding herself pinned down by Deigo, the small female squirmed enough to release a clawed paw and wave bye to her 'sibling' of sorts, "Byeeeee!" the word was purred as she waved, her tail twitching on the ground. It was only then, when she turned her head to face the blue coffee that their noses came into contact.

Blinking slightly, she stared up at him, then closed her eyes and made a small significant happy noise, somewhere between a purr and a squeal; not only that, but in her odd position, she went as far as fluffing herself up again, once more resembling a bird more than a numa. The male swiftly removed himself from on top of her though, allowing her to sit up and her pelt slowly returned to it's normal position; she didn't seem at all troubled by the situation, and not at all awkward or worried, for some reason or other.

In fact, no sooner had Deigo sat down, that she scooted near by and pressed their noses together in that sitting position, "Your nose is warm," she said before giving it a lick. She didn't pull away, but rather, tilted her head to one side, still in that position, thrilling softly, "Don't worry about Silos; he means no harm," the later was said in almost a different tone of voice, for a moment her smile had changed. At times, it was almost as if she'd change entirely to get a point across; when it was most important to be listened to... she became almost serious.

It passed soon enough however and she closed her eyes against, pressing her nose still against his, "I like you," she said, "I think you're really caring..." a pause as she reopened her eyes, "I think you just need to sit and listen," she left it at that.

Deigo was... confused, to say the least. He scampered back off of her, landing with a soft thud on the ground, his back legs sprawled out in front of him, leaning back on his tail and rump. He gulped down a growing lump in his throat, his mouth suddenly dry. Having been a social hermit all his life, he'd never gotten to know someone enough to really become friends, let alone finding someone to be involved with romanticly. So the tension in his stomach bewildered him. It had nothing to do with anxiety and paranoid dillusions... It was new to him. He didn't understand it, and so his default reaction was to fear it.

Though he didn't imediately push her away, his one good eye widened and the fur on his neck and back stood on end as if it were betraying gravity it's self. He blinked at her slowly, his muzzle wrinkled a bit as he frowned, not knowing what to do or say. His golden eye flicked back and forth, looking around at the enviroment and wondering if he could make a run for it.. His head still didn't move though. He didn't dare move, not yet. Not without a plan... He gulped again and looked back to her. God, he couldn't stay like this! It was too quick and too confusing. It made his stomach and brain hurt and feel... funny. He scooted back a bit more and looked around again, frowning still. It seemed he really would make a run for it.. Until she said that last part. A command.

As odd as it was, he felt obligated to obey. And once he paused to think about it.. He wouldn't want to leave her in this dangerous place all alone, where more dangerous things could come out of the bushes to attack her... So he sighed and looked back to her, letting her continue if she wished. Though he still didn't know what to make of it...

As he pulled away, the female remain where she sat for a moment, her smile still ever present, eyes heavy lidded, "Sit," she breathed, "And listen," this said, she closed her own eyes and tilted her head, her ear perking up in the air, twitching ever so slightly, "Listen..." the words were whispered to him, barely loud enough to hear as she did just that; she took her own advice and allowed her ear to twitch to one side, and then slowly towards the other. She listened... and she heard the wind. She heard the moving grass, and the moving candy plants.

She was even sure she could hear the slimy flip flopping of some create within the swamps, already left behind them in the background. Seemingly satisfied, she reopened her eyes and aimed her gaze at the blue male sitting nearby, "Can you hear that?" a pause before she stood again and neared him, sitting so she was placed between his stretched hind legs, her back to him, her head lifting to look at the clouds that were passing by, "That's the sound of life; it breathes," her smaller frame allowed her to put her head back, looking up at him without twisting her neck, her pink hair falling back against his chest and neck, "Listen to it; you know... if you're ever lonely, of feel sad, or mad, all you have to do is sit, and then listen," her back wasn't touching his chest, and her pelt didn't quite brush against his, even as near as she was, she seemed to be... taking care to keep contact to a minimum for the time being.

A pause followed before she purred softly and turned her neck slightly, looking at him over her shoulder, "If you listen close enough, you'll hear me, even when I'm not there with you; I don't know if you like lullabies, but if you listen hard at night, you'll hear me singing one, just for you," Huong had been a frightened little child, way back in the day, and the one thing she strongly remembered, was curling up under the thickets at night, hiding away from shadows... and wishing someone, anyone, were there to sing her a lullaby and put her to sleep, "All you have to do, is sit, and listen," a pause, followed by a purr that promptly died as she finally pressed her back against his chest.

Silenced again, she remain there; she'd decided against mentioning the fact that if he were to so chose to listen, he'd hear his heart, and probably hers too. It was such a simple thing, and yet, it told her, as she listened, that both of them were alive. And that... was good enough for her. It wasn't as if she were brighter than he was; heavens no. In fact, whereas Degio had noticed a different feeling and was scared by it, the female hadn't quite even noticed the fact that she liked him in any way different than she did Silos, or any other numa. The warmth she felt was no doubt, caused sun; she never made a connection, and for the time being, it was doubtful she would.

Diego gulped again, the lump in his throat growing further still, but he did what she asked of him.. Or rather.. tried too. His ears were pressed tightly against his neck, nerviousness making them droop. Slowly they twitched up a bit, then tilted around at the area around him... He tried to listen to the wind and all that mushy stuff, he really did... But all he could hear was the sound of his heart beating quickly in his chest, threatening to spill up through his throat. The sound of her breathing, as soft and calm as it was... How could she be like this? So happy and calm and innocent? It made him confused, jealous, and a bit in awe. But mostly confused. And scared out of his mind.

Though Huong hadn't voiced her childhood outloud, his was suprisingly similar. Perhaps slightly more tragic, perhaps.. Though he didn't know how she'd come to be alone. He'd been alone since he was a small pup, and he'd always wanted a lullaby. The thought of her singing him one was heart warming, and it made the funny feeling in his stomach worse. He wondered to himself if she really would sing.. or if it was more of a philosophical thing... either way, it seemed to calm him. Just a bit. Enough to let her lean against him, and enough for him to be brave enough to let one of his front paws wrap around her. It was a tight but gentle grasp, making sure that his sharp claws didn't cut her. Though he still had a rather nervious and disturbed looking expression on his face, and his paws were shaking a bit... he still seemed calmer than usual. He was enjoying being close to her.

No words went by and the female seemed to content to keep it that way; her ears twitched every so often, as if she were listening to far off music only she could hear, but that aside, she remain rather inmobile against him. In fact, after a while, she was no longer just inmobile, but... she'd fallen asleep against him, purring softly as she exhaled with every breath.

She seemed rather calm in her sleep and perhaps not as... eccentric; all in all she looked calm. Her tail ahd slowly wrapped itself around his back leg, and her forepaws hung in front of her over the one he'd wrapped around her. It was clear that they'd have to leave the marshmallow hunting for some other day, because the excitement had done the young adult in already; surprising was the fact, however, that she'd fallen asleep against him. Not only did this show she rather much trusted him, but it showed she had no problem with him whatsoever.

Sure, he'd made one mistake, and had lashed out at her, but Huong, in her naive sort of way seemed to have already forgotten that... or if she hadn't, she had at least set it aside for the time being, for she too was enjoying being close to him in turn. He was, after all, the first being that hadn't yet run for the hills after meeting her; no other had stayed this much, not had anyone really made the effort to try and get to know her, or what might lie under the surface.

For that, she was clearly grateful.

In her sleep, the female moved slightly and curled up, nuzzling slightly into him as if he were her pillow of choice, "Mmmmm...." the humming came from the back of her throat no doubt lost in a dream, "I waaaaant blue marshmallowwws...." barely a whisper as she nuzzled into him, her words slurred against his pelt.
PostPosted: Sun May 27, 2007 5:24 am

All he did was sit there.. He didn't sleep, nor move at all. He was too afraid too... He just watched her as she slipped into peaceful slumber, his expression softening as time went by. It was only when he was sure that she was asleep that he finally completely relaxed against her, his paws and tail no longer shaking or twitching. He let our a few slow breathes and watched her. She looked so peaceful. It amazed him, and of course confused him, that she could so easily trust him like this. At any moment, he could just flick his claw up and tear into her, kill her if he really wanted. But he wouldn't. Not now or ever. He decided then that he could trust her, no matter what his primal instincts told him... Or at least trust her enough to be close to her. She was his friend, and he would treasure and protect her like no other could.

He let his chin lower enough to lay gently on the top of her head, though not letting it put enough pressure on her to wake her. His upper arms shifted a bit to hold her tighter, one claw stroking up and down her side slowly. Other than that he just sat and let her sleep for as long as she wanted, ignoring the pain that started to swell up in his back, cramping from sitting in one position for so long. It was worth it. And whenever she would wake he would guide her back to swamps, watching over her until she was safely at home, where ever that may be.

But for now they were there together. He leaned down to whisper into her ear in response to her sleepy mumbling. "Some other day... I'll find you blue marshmellows." For the first time in years, his voice didn't stutter or break.
