Houndour growled under his breath as the panther Ulaya began to follow him. He knew in the back of his mind that he would but Houndour didn't want to admit it. "So in other words he's playing you like his pawn." Letting out a slight chuckle he continued to look forward. "He does that for entertainment." He began to be more aware of the forest around him rather then on the following Ulaya, sniffing the air every so often for an attempt to begin his tracking once again."

Houndour knew how dangerous the forest was at this time but Dubhán had no clue. This somewhat made him uncomfortable but a little more relaxed at the same time. Having someone tense and worried would just distract him and make him have to loose the stranger.

User ImageDubhán's eyes flashed dangerously at the other ulaya's words. The most dominant part of him wanted to taste the other's blood, but if there was something else out there, something big, then he wasn't stupid enough to try it now.

Trying to play things down he shrugged as if he could care less about the other's words and replied "If thats what you want to call it" his eyes narrow. He knew that the God was having his way with him, but he refused to back down "Your God challenged me, and I took him up on it... I'm not backing down" he clarified. He could walk away anytime he wanted, which was why he hadn't done so yet. Had the God tried to force him into anything, he would have fought against it with everything he had, but now, he was doing this on his own principles, and therefore didn't really see himself as pawn for the God.

"Suit yourself but if you get eaten it's not my problem, you're on you're own." His words were as honest and sincere as they could have ever been. He didn't know what to expect from the mysterious visitor Yin had asked him to follow and didn't like how it wasn't in his sight. Houndour never once stopped scanning the rainy forest with his eyes, pausing often before replying and even stopping between sentences just to make sure he didn't hear sounds.

"So what do you plan on doing then?" He wasn't sure what Yin had planned for the Panther Ulaya and wondered what he was gonna do about it. Looking up at another tree, Houndour paused and made a large leap, pulling himself onto the branch for a slight rest. He knew finding his prey was just about impossible now and he didn't want to stray too far from the last sighting spot.

User ImageDubhán's ears kept flicking back and forth, his subconscious mind picking up on any unwelcome sound, as they made their way through the forest. When other jumped, he didn't as much as batter an eyelash. And kept walking a few more steps before answering with a shrug.

"He told me to meet his pack, thats all I know" he answered "who knows what will happen then" he didn't like how he felt obliged to answer this other ulaya, and he didn't like the way that he didn't feel like fighting him. Not really, anyways. He wanted to tell himself that it was just the idea of a common threat, that made him put this normal hatred for other ulayas behind him.

"Perhaps I'll meet them, and escape with a few scratches" he paused "perhaps I wont escape at all" he guessed, showing how he honestly didn't really care much. "Its a question of honor and principles."

"It's a question of if you'll listen to the god or not. That's all he cares about." Houndour tried to explain this to him the best he could but the ignorant Ulaya just wouldn't listen. Giving a rather large yawn, Houndour skimed the area once again before resting his chin and closing his eyes. The rain didn't look like it was going to let up any time soon and there was no point continuing until it did.

He still didn't understand why the Panther would actually listen to Yin. Houndour knew best but he had also gotten a few scars to remind him who was boss, unlike this one. He was unscafed and barely had Yin's scent on him, meaning if there was a brawl then it was too short or pointless for Yin to even care about.

"Speaking from experience?" it was more a statement than a question, and it came out mockingly, however, the tone in Dubhán's voice showed that there was nothing truly evil behind the sentence.

Noticing the other ulaya had closed his eyes, Dubhán copied his actions, and joined him in the tree. He, however kept his eyes open. He wasn't exactly enjoying the other's company, and he would surely have enjoyed finding the pack by himself, but he figured this would be the easier way out, plus, he wouldn't be getting any further in the rain anyways.

Houndour found it interesting that the other Ulaya had followed him in the tree. He only knew of himself and Yin to sleep in the branches and never saw another follow him so much, well other then Akumu. Shivering some from the cold rain, Houndour shifted his weight and found a more comfortable position, one he could stay in for hours.

"The pack gets together every evening." He began, not even bothering to open his eyes. "They're all probably already together at this moment if you really want to go find them." He didn't see any point in him meeting up with the pack, it wasn't as big as it could be though that was just how Houndour enjoyed it. Giving a slight stretch he dug his claws in the tree's bark and looked up at the Panther Ulaya. "What are you expecting to find when you meet them?"

The black panther's ears twitched at the unexpected sound of the other male's voice. Hearing him out, Dubhán shrugged. "I don't expect anything" he said "thats one of the first things I learnt" he continued with a hard laught "expecting anything simply leads to disappointment."

He sat in silence for a few seconds, before talking again "I plan on going there, meeting his pack, and then leaving again." he gave another harsh laugh "its not as if I expected to join the pack or anything. I prefer to stay to myself."

"mmh I'm sure." Houndour turned his head away and rested it down once again, allowing a slight smile and his eyebrow to raise. "I'm sure you wouldn't be good enough to join his pack anyway." He had learned from Yin that if he goes to great lengths to bother someone then he has his eyes on them. Houndour was just doing his part to help Yin out. "The god thinks highly of the entire pack, I'm sure you couldn't do anything to gain his respect and get him to allow you in anyway." He was starting to have fun and understood what Yin saw in manipulating others.

He was starting to grow fond of this Ulaya. He didn't know what it was, probably his stubborn way of convincing himself of what isn't true, but he was almost glad Yin sent Dubhán in his direction. He started to get curious as to what he would say in respond to these words.

Dubhán growled in response, and narrowed his eyes. He was finding it rather annoying that he was being continuously insulted all night long. He was just about to snap something back, when he saw the likeness to the God's previous words. Of course. This other ulaya was in his pack, and would have been influenced by the dark lord.

He shook his head. He wasn't about to fall for it again. "Like I said" he replied instead "I was never intent on joining his pack anyway. Far too much of a bother, having to look out for each other, never knowing when somebody you trust will turn their back on you..." he trailed off. His patience was wearing thin, but he was intent on staying civil until the other ulaya had shown him the way to the pack. It wasn't because he was enjoying the company. Of course not, he convinced himself.

"No of course not." He didn't make this sound anything but annoying and only said it to amuse himself. "But what if you find that you want to live in a pack where you don't know if your best friend would turn on you." He paused and then slowly continued. "Well, isn't there where all the fun is? Never knowing who you really know?" Houndour had also gone through everything that was currently running through Dubhán's head and had also learned to ignore it all. "It doesn't seem like I'm watching out for anyone does it now?" His words were true, Yin never made anyone watch out for another member. He always felt that if they were strong enough to be in the pack then they're strong enough to fend for themselves.

Flicking his tail a little to get a mosquito off from it, he put his ears back to avoid the rain from getting into them. There was nothing he hated more then water logged hearing and mosquitoes. Looking up at the sky Houndour could see the edge of the clouds and sighed in relief. He may finally be able to get his stupid hunting over with and get back to the pack where he can completely rest. He started to worry if the Panther Ulaya would get in his way but shortly shrugged it off. If he fended himself against Yin then he can fend himself against his current prey, or so Houndour hoped.

Dubhán snorted slightly "Why would I join a pack just to do that?" he questioned "I'm managing that fine without all the responsibilites that follow with being bound by a group of insolent ulayas" he clarified. "Besides, I have never believed in the whole 'keep your friends close, but your enemies closer' thing... I don't believe in this phantom friendship, and I don't particuarly feel like having my enemies close" he scoffed.

"And aren't you out hunting some unknown creature on your pack land?" he wondered "Isn't that, honestly, protecting your pack?" he flicked his ears, picking up on faint noises that seemed foreign to him. However, this was unknown land to him, so as long as the brown ulaya didn't act, neither would he.

Houndour had waited for him to ask a question like that and didn't bother hesitating to answer. "No, I'm hunting another god Ulaya." He said this so blatantly and emotionless that it didn't seem to phase him. "Yin had to fight for the land, a great place like this doesn't come without a price." Sighing he continued. "I spent a week healing his wounds." Houndour was impressed with the power the other god had dished out to Yin and didn't think he would survive the powerful attacks. But Yin never failed to impress him and taking only a week to heal something that would have killed either if the two talking in a moment's notice was enough respect for Houndour to work along side him.

"Yin had no intentions upon starting a pack and still really doesn't care. He's a stuck up Undulcan god that cares nothing but himself and his land." Which is what Houndour respected the most. If it's welcome on his land he won't attack it. "He's so stuck up that if even I were almost dead he'd brush it aside and leave me for the creatures in the woods." Houndour knew that the only reason why the pack really existed was because he wouldn't leave Yin's side while he was injured. Other Ulayas saw his dedication to the crude god and also joined up with them, shortly creating a pack.

User ImageDubhán looked at his companion in surprise. He hadn't been expecting him to be hunting a god. "Impressive" he admitted "however, that doesn't change the fact that you are still hunting for, possibly even protecting, your pack" he pointed out.

At the revelation about the dark god, Dubhán could simply snort and agree. He hadn't really seen the God as stuck up, but he could really imagine it. However, when the brown ulaya so blatantly confessed how little the God cared for him, he couldn't keep the shock out of his voice "Why would you do something like that?!" he said, the concept of sticking by someone like that completely foreign to him "Why would you stick to someone who wouldn't batter an eyelash if you died for him... what could you possibly gain from that?"

"Respect." He closed his eyes and smiled again. "He gives me something to do and I give him the sanity of being around someone." He remembered Yin's words when he spoke of his sister. 'If I didn't have her chasing me around the world I may have killed myself sooner.' He didn't like how the god spoke like that and gave him someone to be around and take out his aggression on.

The sky began to clear up and the rain slowed down to a sprinkle. Houndour rose from his place and leaped down off the tree. "Lets go, the rest of the pack is waiting for our arrival." He waited for the Panther one to join him, deciding that if he was going to find the god it wasn't going to be today.
