Veritas' skull felt like it was on fire. he now stood in the doorway to his master's cabin that lay deep i the woods. his mind was blank as he starred toward the body on the floor. on the inside he began to battle to regain control but it was too much, his body was numb and would stay that way. slowly he put his weight on the frame of the door and slid to the floor. he sat there for a few minutes in silence before he stood up, bowed to his masters dead body and turned to walk out of the cabin

*Spirit continued to glare at Anime, but she said nothing, what Anime had said stunned her for some reason. Why was she mad at her, for all she knew this was just another girl who had somehow found her way into her life. She let out a small sigh and then slowly removed her hands from Aly’s shoulders, and in the same motion she stood up and took a small step to the side, what am I doing? The voice asked inside her head, this is not me, this is not me. She put a hand over her eyes and as soon as she had eyes closed memories flashed back into her head, memories that she had locked up so long ago, why were they coming back to her now? The sting of a stone as it hit her flesh felt so real it was as if she was back at the moment, and then before it could go any further she pushed it back, as far away as she could get it. She took her hand away from her face and opened her eyes again, the sun hurt as it hit her eyes, it seemed to her that she had not seen it for hours, but in reality it had been barley over a minute. Reaching into her pouch she took out her small book and held it in her hand, she didn’t know if she was actually going to use it, but even if she didn’t it still felt good to have it close to her. She let out anther sigh and refocused on Aly and Anime, let the past be the past, whatever was going to happen was unknown and the past would not change a thing. “Yes, I would really like to know how it is we can know that you will not harm anyone?” she asked, restating what Aly had just said.*

*Anime looked a little hurt for she, once again, was being judged based on what she looked like and because of what type or creature she was! Her eyes went cold and dark instead of the golden color that they normaly were. "Look I would not hurt anyone because I have been resisting my thirst for humans for a long time, I even live with them. I hunt only animals that are over populated in cretian areas. I mean no harm to you." She stared at the fear and hatred that lied in Aly's eyes not knowing why she had judged her in such a baised way without knowing her very well....."Please, please believe me I mean no harm, I just wan't to help you two." She looked at Spirit a long moment and then continued trying to relax her voice a little but still having a hard time. "If you thought that I was really dangerous you would have attacked me by now woulden't you? That could only mean that you don't think that I am all that bad...or you ar looking in that book for a wat to hurt me..am I right?" Anime's eyes saddend at the thought of this.*

*Spirit continued her glare at Anime, ready to react if anything were to happen, “If I do not know you, then you would not know me, and if that is true then what makes you say I would have attacked you by now if I thought you were dangerous. Only a person who knows me would be able to determine the way I act, and since there is no one still living in this world who knows me that well, then you can not say that. And about my book,” she paused for a moment as her fingers traced the very detailed cover, “you should not talk about things that you do not understand.” She said in an even hasher voice, “If you wish to help,” she began again, back to her normal tone, “then you would have to ask Aly, since it was her who was trying to help in the first place.” She turned towards Aly, “if you want this person to assist you that is up to you. As for me, if you trust me and want my help I will give it, if not then I will go my own way.” She stopped and waited for Aly’s answer.*

*Aly's eyes flickered from face to face. Even though she felt frightened and uncertain of the path that lied ahead, she kept her face blank and unreadable. She took in each person's persona and there deeds. Spirit, a demon girl, who was unsure of the reason why she had came and helped Aly, had earned even more of her trust. It was very uncommon for her to be able to trust anyone after the nightmare that had occurred years ago, and even though she barely knew Spirit, she did not wish for her to leave. The thought of her alone in the world made shivers run up her spine. Next, she eyed Anime, very closely. She didn't know her very well and something about the girl seem to tug on the memories of that fateful night so many years ago. She knew that Anime was not human and although she was unsure of what she really was - it was obvious to her that she wasn't human- she knew that what she had said was true, for the most part. If she really did want to hurt her or Spirit, she could have done it while the were unsuspicious and unaware of her presence. Instead, she had introduced herself and informed them that she wasn't dangerous. Still, there were many reasons to stay suspicious. Perhaps this Anime girl could sense that Spirit was more powerful then her and if she attacked, she could get herself hurt. Aly's head spinned in confusion. She wasn't sure what to do and the more she thought about it, the more of a headache she got. Sighing, she returned her attention to Spirit and Anime. * " No," Aly cried out, " Spirit, I do not wish for you to leave, I still very much need your help, if you don't mind. As for you Anime, what you say does make sense but it doesn't mean that you still don't mean us any harm. If Spirit allows, for I trust her more because I have known her longer, you can stay. Before Spirit answers though, I am curious, what are you? I know that you are not human. " Aly stared at Anime curious, waiting for her answer, this was a crucial test for her and the outcome will help her decided whether or not to allow the girl to stay in her presence. *

*Anime looked at Aly curiously as she studied her face with great intent. Anime was curious as to how Aly knew that she was not in fact, human. Anime thought of her answer very carefully so that she would not frighten either of them. “Your right I am not human I am a….. Vampire as you humans would call it. I am not dangerous though to you because I have been putting off my thirst for such a long time, I only feed on animals because I do not like what we vampires do. I can run incredibly fast, I am hard as rock and I look appealing to my prey, which would usually be humans. I can also read minds. I have gotten good at tuning things out though. You see I would never harm you I have lived with humans for decades. Please don’t fear me.” Anime studied Spirit and Aly’s faces carefully. Then she waited for their replies.*

*Spirit listened closely as Anime answered Aly’s question, once she was done Spirit leaned up against the tree as she thought. Anime seemed like a strong person and if it were true that she could read minds, was she reading hers right now? She didn’t like that, her mind was the place where she was able to keep all of her deepest secrets and she would rather if no one went in them. She wondered why Anime was telling them so much about herself and also if there was anything she was not telling them, but she seemed to be telling the truth as far as she could tell. Then again she had never met a vampire before so how would she know if one was lying or not. After she had thought through everything in her head she finally turned to Aly, “I can not decide that for you, I will help you either way, but I will not choose which way that will be.” She said, if Aly did choose for Anime to come along she would have to make sure not to think of anything important when she was around, just in case.*

*Maya ran swiftly through the forest, following the trace of Black Magic she and the other sorceresses of her clan had sensed only a few moments ago. All in her clan, and in all other good magical clans were opposed to Black Magic and the witches and warlocks who practiced it. Maya was searching for the ones who had cast the dark spell she sensed before. Just in case she was attacked, she carried along side her, with her telekinesis (the ability to move things with one's mind) some fallen branches, boulders, and sharp weapons. She could hurl these at whoever she wanted, if she was threatened. Maya then reached a clearing in which she saw three girls, around her age. From what she gathered, they were a demon, a vampire, and a human. What a strange mix. Perhaps they had seen someone go by, and could give her some information. "Excuse me, but have you seen anyone go by here? Anyone sinister-looking?" she asked. Then she realized they might have been talking with each other. "Am I interrupting something?"*

*Aly was wallowing. Never before her had she had to make such a large decision. If she allowed Anime to come with them and she turned out to be dangerous, she would be responsible for Anime harming Spirit. Her own life meant nothing to her, but she didn’t know if she could take the risk of harming someone else’s with a decision that she had to make. If she rejected Anime, would she become angry and try to attack them? Aly’s head whirled in confusion. She wasn’t sure what to do and any decision she made could harm her friend. Something Anime had told them tugged at her mind. Why would she be telling them so much information about herself if she wanted to harm them? Was it because she wanted them to trust her and then attack them when they thought she wouldn’t? Anime had told them that she could read minds and Aly wanted to know if it was what was passing through the mind while they were thinking it, or if it was everything that they had ever thought. A shiver ran up her spine. If it were every thought that she had ever had, then Anime would find out her secret. On the outside, Aly looked nothing but a mere human. That was her advantage. When evil attacked her they had no idea that she was half - human, that she possessed powers that could destroy them when they were unsuspecting. Her cover would be blown. Aly was sure that panic was written all over her face and she tried desperately to wipe it off. She couldn’t have they thinking that there was anything wrong, even though Anime could read minds. Annoyed and violated, Aly stared at Anime with blank eyes. She couldn’t believe that someone, who could pose a threat to them, was able to figure out her secret if she so much as thought about it. With Anime around, she would have to be careful with her thoughts, and she found that was the only place where she could feel secure. * “If I allow you to come with us, you have to promise us something,” Aly began, “You must inform us if someone evil is lurking.” Aly was awaiting her answer, when she heard a voice behind her. She became white, perhaps even as white as Anime, and turned slowly. Panic spread through her body, new people seemed to be appearing right before her and she became frightened that one of them was evil. Aly stared at the newcomer, eyes wide with fright, unable to move, unable to breathe. *

*Anime twisted her head to the side to look at Maya for a second with a slight smile on her face, then she turned back to look at Aly and Spirit and the smile vanished. "Sure I will tell you when there is danger coming but I can only tell if they come within a certain range they have to be fairly close for me to hear them." Anime turned to look back at Maya, "Interesting....," Anime mumbled to herself. "It's Maya right? Umm what are you doing here? Also could you please let go of those weapons you have to be careful with those!" Anime waited to see what she would say in response but she already knew what they would say she only asked for Spirit and, Aly's benefit.*

Also could you please let go of those weapons you have to be careful with those!" *Maya smirked at the vampire. "Well, I guess you can read minds, then. If you knew my name, wouldn't you also know what I was doing here? So why did you ask?" Maya then turned to the other two girls. The one on the ground seemed frightened. Without moving, Maya dropped the weapons that were behind, and on either side of her. After all, it wasn't dangerous for her to drop the weapons for a moment. Within a fraction of a second she could send them flying at an attacker. "Sorry if I scared you," she said to the girl on the ground,"I mean no harm. Not to any of you at least." Taking another look at the girl on the ground, Maya decided that the girl might not have been entirely human. She also saw that she was injured, but that she was well taken care of. She wanted to help the girl, and assuming that she didn't need permission to do her a favour, stuck out her hand and let the healing power flow from her and towards the girl's leg. She estimated that it would take about ten seconds to fully heal. "So," Maya said when she was finished healing, "are any of you going to answer my question?"*

She continued to take small steps forward until she was in front of Anime and Aly, she didn’t want a fight to begin, “No we haven’t seen anyone come past here, why? Are you looking for someone?” she asked.*

*Maya looked at the demon girl, studying her face to make sure she wasn't lying. She seemed to be telling the truth. Maya sighed, "There are practitioners of Black Magic wandering around the country. They are responsible for a great deal of murders. The sorcerers and sorceresses of good clans of magic - me included - are trying to hunt them down. I was just following a trace of Black Magic when I got here." Maya gestured to the area around them. Maya didn't understand. The trace of Black Magic was still around. How could they not have seen anyone? "You are sure you didn't see anything?"*

*Spirit stared at Maya for a while, trying to make sense of what she said, had she just said that that she had followed a trace of dark magic and ended up where they now stood? If that was true then how come she didn’t sense anything? Could this Maya person be lying, if she was she was very good at it. “No, I’m sure I have not seen anyone here beside you and the two behind me,” she confirmed, “but I wasn’t the first one here, Aly was here when I arrived,” she turned and looked over her shoulder at Aly, “did you see anyone come by here before I showed up?” she asked still wondering why she hadn’t felt anything.*
* Aly was too dazed to be alarmed at the newcomer. Her instincts told her to be wary of this girl but too many people had come and introduced themselves to her. Spirit, Anime and Maya now, they had all came together at one point in the forest. Besides, Maya was healing her ankle. If she were truly evil she could have attacked her while she was weak and defenseless, or so it seemed. Maya would have no clue at the powers she possessed, but by the looks of it, Maya had her own powers too. The way the object obeyed her at command made her suspicious. She eyed the girl warily, but less defensive then the others. The throbbing in her ankle eventually subsided and she sighed in relief. She listened intently to the news that Maya was talking about and her mind wandered to the time where she was alone in the woods. It could have been minutes or hours ago, she didn't know. She remembered saying her goodbyes and the evil that she felt would always haunt her for the rest of her life. She had been so scared that it was because of her blindness or her surroundings, that she had tripped. She counted her blessings that her ankle was the only think that broke but in that moment, when she wasn't able to run away from the evil, she felt defenseless. It was when Spirit had showed up that it disappeared. Spirit's voice broke through her memory and she turned to stare at Maya.* "Yes, I believe I felt something evil," Aly confirmed, " I am not sure what it was, but it frightened me."

*Maya smirked at the vampire.

*Spirit stared Maya with wide eyes, she had never seen anyone carry objects like that, it surprised her, although she didn’t know why, she had seen things far more unexpected things before. Again she was stunned to see this Maya girl send out some sort of healing magic towards Aly’s hurt foot. She stood tense as the magic surrounded Aly’s foot, her hand gripping her book with tight fingers, when the healing power seemed to stop she relaxed a bit and looked other at Maya again. After a moment of going through some things in her head, hoping Anime was not listening in on them she stepped forward, as she did she placed her book back in the pouch, it would seem rude not to put it away when Maya had put down her weapons, but she knew that she could easily get to it if she needed it. Anime decided that she might be trustworthy because Maya put down her weapons. Spirit seemed to think that she was ok though. Anime searched Maya's thoughts for something useful then looked at Aly for a minuet, but quickly turned back to Maya and spirit. Anime wrinkled her nose up for there was a sudden stench in the air coming from the east, but who ever it was not close enough for her to read their minds. "I do believe there is a stench coming from the east Maya. I have no clue who or what it is because they are not close enough." Anime looked at Maya, for a second and then casually smiled, “I guess you are less oblivious than I thought." Anime Played with her hair for a wile and then let it drop to her side again.*

What with knowing that one girl had felt something evil, and that the other had smelled something, it would make the witch or warlock easier to track. Then she remembered something. "The reason none of you may not have seen or heard anything before is because the those of the Dark Clans can disguise their presence even from such beings as yourselves. If they are powerful enough, they can even disguise themselves to the point where you cannot even sense them. Of course that is extremely rare. But all the same, you three should be careful. We are dealing with more than average magic." For a second, Maya forgot about her mission and stared at the girls around her. They were all different from each other but in some ways, they were the same, and Maya felt oddly out of place. All three girls had long flowing hair, whereas Maya's hair just touched the base of her neck. They all had darker eyes, ranging from brown to gold. Maya's eyes were an unnatural shade of blue. Most importantly, these girls seemed to be free to do whatever they wanted. Maya was obligated to protect everyone from the Black Magic that so unfortunately existed around them. She hadn't had more than an hour of spare time since she was six, which resulted in her not having any close friends, either. Maya shook the feeling off. She was about to start back on her mission, but she had one more question for them. "What are your names?"

She was about to start back on her mission, but she had one more question for them. "What are your names?"
* Confusion swept over Aly, at what Maya was saying. She had said that the dark clans were able to shield themselves from their presence and yet, both Aly and Anime were able to sense their presence. Once again, memories flashed in Aly’s mind. The panic that she had felt, was odd because Aly was not easily frightened. She was able to take care of herself and if this presence was enough to scare her to not notice where she was going was enough to listen to Maya’s words. She remembered her prayers and the goodbyes she had said earlier, before she had met Spirit. She was sure that the presence was going to come and capture her. It was nothing that she had ever felt before and yet, it intrigued Aly. Frightening Aly was not easily done, and if these Dark Clans were able to do that, Aly wanted to know more about them. The girl, Maya she believed Anime had said her name was, obviously was trained to know how to handle them and knew more about them then anyone else she had ever known. She remembered hearing rumours when she was little about powerful beasts that were able to shield themselves from other people’s presence, but she had thought it was a myth. She had never known of anything that could do that before, therefore they had to be powerful. Aly clutched the tree that she leaned on for support, and pulled herself up. Her ankle had improved and she was grateful that she was able to walk and even run on it now. Aly had the time to study Maya. She had cropped black hair, cut to her neck and had unusual blue eyes. She had the power to heal and was able to somehow control objects around her, so it seemed. She intrigued Aly and she wanted to learn more about this girl who stood in front of her. Aly took notice when Maya looked about ready to go and was about to stop her, when Maya had asked them their names. Aly took a deep breath and stared right into Maya’s eyes. * “I’m Aly,” she introduced. *

*Anime was surprised that Spirit couldn’t sense the new power that was worrying the new girl, Maya. Spirit was clearly a full daemon where as Aly was a half daemon, it must have something to do with the type of daemon that she was. Anime was puzzled as to why Maya wanted to know there names when she clearly was just passing through. This didn’t scare her but it made her a little hesitant to tell her. This reminded her of an incident that happened a long time ago when her friends betrayed her because she was careful with her thoughts; she was good at it because she had been around Anime for so long. As far as Anime could tell these girls were not good at controlling there thoughts yet so she did not have a problem with them yet. Anime decided to tell Maya her name, “Hi my name is Anime but my friends call me Anie for short.”*
