I'm on book 4 of the Troy Game series by Sara Douglass. Her sentence structure takes a bit of getting used to, but overall a well-written series.

I got done with the Artemis Fowl: The Eternity Code book.
It was foul all right. It's ... um.... too fantastical? Bizarre?

The next book?

The Looking Glass Wars by Frank Beddor

*Cracks knuckles preparing to type* my specialty...

Historial-ish fiction time traveler romance? One of my favorites is the Outlander series by Diane Gabaldon:

Outlander
Dragonfly In Amber
Voyager
Drums of Autumn
The Fiery Cross
A Breath of Snow and Ash

You can read the first 20 or so pages of Outlander here:Outlander preview page

In Outlander, a 600-page time-travel romance, strong-willed and sensual Claire Randall leads a double life with a husband in one century, and a lover in another. Torn between fidelity and desire, she struggles to understand the pure intent of her heart. But don't let the number of pages and the Scottish dialect scare you. It's one of the fastest reads you'll have in your library.

While on her second honeymoon in the British Isles, Claire touches a boulder that hurls her back in time to the forbidden Castle Leoch with the MacKenzie clan. Not understanding the forces that brought her there, she becomes ensnared in life-threatening situations with a Scots warrior named James Fraser. But it isn't all spies and drudgery that she must endure. For amid her new surroundings and the terrors she faces, she is lured into love and passion like she's never known before.

I was lame and sore in every muscle when I woke next morning. I shuffled to the privy closet, then to the wash basin. My innards felt like churned butter. It felt as though I had been beaten with a blunt object, I reflected, then thought that that was very near the truth. The blunt object in question was visible as I came back to bed, looking now relatively harmless. Its possessor [Jamie] woke as I sat next to him, and examined me with something that looked very much like male smugness."

Such a great read!!!! I give it 5 stars but I have to warn you that some of the scenes get a bit violent. It is set in Scotland during a war after all. Still! Wonderful!!!

Historical Romantic Fiction? The Clan of the Cave Bear series by Jean M. Auel:

The Clan of the Cave Bear
The Valley of Horses
The Mammoth Hunters
The Plains of Passage
The Shelters of Stone

It is about Ayla's journey from an orphaned child taken in by the clan of the cave bear to the strong woman she becomes and about the man she loves... as far as I know there is at least one more book in the works on this series.

Fiction/Fantasy? The Belgariad series (first season), The Malloreon series (second season), and the companion books:

The Belgariad Series:
Pawn of Prophecy
Queen of Sorcery
Magician's Gambit
Castle of Wizardry
Enchanter's End Game

The Malloreon:
Guardians of the West
King of the Murgos
Demon Lor of Karanda
Sorceress of Darshiva
The Seeress of Kell

Belgrath the Sorcerer
Polgara the Sorceress

This is a two part series with two different story arcs. The two companion books I've listed simply enrich the story once you've read the other books.

These three series are my all time favorite. I have reread each book at least a dozen times or more. They are all must read page turners that you can't put down!

At the moment though I am very slowly making my way through Help! I'm Laughing and I Can't Get Up by Liz Curtis Higgs. Good Clean humor that is just funny.

Finished reading Stardust novel and graphic novel by Neil Gaiman (I think I spelt his name right) as well as V for Vendetta. I liked the Stardust story so much that I bought the dvd movie. The movie is less bloodier than the novel with a Disney-que ending.

@Craftymama, I like the Eddings work too, but the only one I could really get into was Polgara the Sorceress. It's one of my favourite books to this day. If you've never read anything by Melanie Rawn, I would highly suggest picking up The Mageborn Traitor trilogy (only the first two are out, I believe). I find the writing style of these books somewhat similar to Eddings work, but with a more feminine outlook (which is what I think draws me to Polgara)

My favourite high fantasy author is George RR Martin, hands down. The Song of Ice and Fire series is so epic.

Lately, I've been reading a lot of fiction (but not fantasy, not really). I read Neil Gaimans book of short stories, Fragile Things, and I'm currently in the middle of Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke, and Bloodletting and Other Miraculous Cures, by Vincent Lam (a Canadian author out of Toronto). Jonathan Strange is great if you're into steampunky-magical-neovictorianism, and Bloodletting is a great bit of Canadiana, which focuses on several different doctors and short stories involving them.

As far as romantic-fiction (with strong fantasy elements), I really loved the Kushiel's Legacy series by Jacqueline Carey. The books are very beautiful, creating a sort of alter-earth with a very erotic social structure. I've only read the first 3, so I'm not sure if the series continues to be good (who knows, she could be another Terry Goodkind. I hate Terry Goodkind.)

Polgara will always have a special place in my heart too Waz. I enjoyed The Song of Ice and Fire also. I tried to get into the Kushiel's Series but the author's writing style just ruins it for me. They all start out waaaaay too slow so you have to slog through the first half of the book to get to the middle where the story finally starts gaining steam. Once I get to that part I'm happy but getting there takes forever. I think there are more books to the series coming soon but I can't remember. I've read all the ones that are out too.

Currently I am reading Help! I'm Laughing and I Can't Get Up by Liz Curtis Higgs. G-rated humor at its best.

Thanks for reminding me to read the Eddings book. I bought Polgara almost 3 years ago but didn't read it (due to moving into a new house). Now, I have to go downstairs to the other basement (filled with cardboard boxes) to find the book. There was another Eddings book which my little brother (sorry about that... it's how I say it in Chinese and this is a literal translation for younger brothers. The same applies to older brothers... big brothers) gave me on my 10th bday. Ai ya ya ya ya... There are so many books I bought but never have the time to read them. I know I should've gone to the library but my card expired 2 decades ago. Besides, I only buy books which interest me and eventually, I'll get to them. Longest time reading the entire book: Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery(3 yrs, 3 months and 3 days). rofl

Ok, I started again a new book. I'm reading Terry Pratchet's Wintersmith book and so far I love it! It's the third book about Tiffany Aching and the Mac Nag Feegles, little blue men. xd I just love how he writes the Feegles so... well. I should try to finish the Eldest book but it's just doesn't flow so well as the previous one, Eragon, did.

I used to love reading. I struggle with it now, cuz there always seem to be other things to do during the day, and at night I usually try and am too tired, turn to a crossword instead. I love audio books for the car and when I am at the gym though! I just started "a brief history of nearly everything"... uumm,,, cant remember the author right now, think he is a physicist. I love this science creationy stuff, the BIG math!

I also recently listened to "Smashed" an autobiography of a problem drinker, that was good.

I have three books with bookmarks currently in them....OH! four!

Night Watch
Tales of Graceful Aging from the Planet Denial
Portnoy's Complaint
Parasites Like Us

Attempting to read Twilight Trilogy by Stephanie Meyers but... my little brother showed me another book: Werde's Dealing With Dragons. My little brother recommended me to read it... Oh! Found one of my unfinished reads: Anne Perry's Tathea. The reason why: Packed away just before Moving Day 2 years ago. xp

I love reading. That love, alas, has been slightly dashed with all the required reading I have to do for college, though. So when I am at home, I don't really want to read for fun because it wouldn't be fun crying . And I so miss reading for fun. But I have started to get better over the winter holiday. I have read a book called Wicked Lovely. It's about faeries and the modern world and it's great! However, I'm not up to my usual par because I normally read three or four books at the same time. I'm quite the multitasker.

I like to have two or three books going at once too but then aside from that I have to or three crafty projects, kid things, cleaning assignments, and so on going at the same time. I am what they call a multi-multi-tasker. However its rare that I ever get bored. I love to stay busy so its all for the best. Its a wonder I ever get anything done though.

Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment by James Patterson

This book has been marketed as a Young Adult book. I read the two original novels about these characters and it seems he decided to write new ones based on the same characters with some adjustments to make the story seem more... young? o.O So far it's alright. Fast paced, written from what I assume the writer feels is a 'young' voice, the main character. It's science fiction (not really his norm... he writes a lot of crime drama including the popular novels that spawned the films Kiss The Girls and Along Came a Spider)

I just finished reading Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr. I am vacillating between reading Wicked by Gregory Maguire or Wintersmith by Terry Pratchett. I can't quite decided. confused
