She laughed lightly. "that would be funny." she said softly. She moved to walk beside him, keeping an easy pace. Fairly longs legs did have their uses. She glanced up at the sky before looking abck at Morthan. "are you sure you'll be ok? I mean, if you might get burnt...That would be awful..."
She was surprised however, as he spoke again. "they do? I would think, even if you only saw a few others, that you would recive nothing but." she smiled. "After all, you are extreamly kind. Unless your just giving me a special privlage and secretly you like to be a git." she smiled a bit, her embaressment going away, her previous, slightly playful tone retuning.

The pale stallion smiled at his companion's concern and bobbed his head in an affirmative. "Yes, I'll be alright; the hottest part of the day is done with. Day like today worse I'll probably get is a few mildly sore spots in any case and as I say, I'm used to it." The pale-eyed stallion spared a glance up at the sky and gave a soft snort. "Yes I think I'll be alright," he reiterated with a nod. "If there are any patches of trees on route I'll go through them though if you don't mind; no point risking more than necessary."
The albino cracked his tails at a swarm of small insects, scattering them before turning back to Eria. "Honestly, sometimes I can be a bit of a cynical git," he admitted. "I'm... well not the most stable I suppose you could say. Not as in I go raving psycho every so often but as in... Mood swings I suppose. I'm prone to great highs and lows alike. Right now I'm a bit better than usually am but that's because... well because I think I've made a friend. Having people I like around stabilises me a bit and makes me far less likely to go into one of my depressive moods."
The white-coated stallion smiled uncertainly across at the Ichsa mare that walked beside him. "I hope I haven't put you off with that." She was a lovely girl and, as he'd just said, one he would like to consider a friend. He didn't want her to pull away now that she knew he wasn't always as nice to be around as he currently was.

She nodded. "so long as you'll be ok." As he talked of mood swings she blinked. The catch. She knew it was there so it didnt surprise her. Least he wasn't a lunatic or a murderer. She was silent, thinking, before she realized if she was silent to long it might give the stallion the wrong idea.
So she smiled at him softly. "THen i'll just have to stick around more won't i? I hear that it can be dangerous if somone is depressed at all. And if being around might help you...then i'll show up alot. If you don't mind of course. Because...everybody has some flaw, somthing that is diffrent and that others shy away from. Mood swings arn't somthing that are big enough to make me turn tail and leave." she laughed softly. "so long as you don' become a raving psycho, i see no reason i should be put off. I realyl like your company Morthan. Your nice to talk to, and...I think i've shared more with you then anyone else i have met...i feel like you, oh what is the word...understand i guess. You understand me more." her smiled showed a bit of embaressment at her words, not sure if they sounded silly or not.

The white stallion relaxed somewhat as Eira spoke. "Thanks," he said with a slight smile. "I'd certainly like to have your company on a regular basis. I suppose I don't really mind being alone all that much but... Well, we're herd animals, no? We do better with others than completely by ourselves and... And I enjoy your company too. I don't tend to spill my guts to people I don't know either, especially not about the piss poor eyesight thing, but... Well. Yes. I suppose I feel understood as well."
It was a nice feeling, to be able to open up, at least to a degree, to a mare he'd only just met. He felt daring for telling her about his weaknesses and elated when she made nothing of them. Things had clicked like this with his former mate, too... Humm. He'd have to be careful with those thoughts. The Ichsa had said she was looking for a mate too, yes, but much though she seemed to like him, the blue-eyed stallion suspected she would want someone closer to her own age.

Eira smiled and nudged his shoulder a bit. "You look like such a toughy but your such a softy at heart arn't you?" she laughed softly, smiling at him. "Just wanting someone to be with you." For a moment she was silent, thinking. "What...You mentioned before a mate from before...may i ask why they are no longer your mate?" she asked, her voice softening, her tone clearly saying if he refused she would let it drop. He was kind to her, and he seemed...more mature. She knew he was older then her. But by how much was a mystery.
And honestly she didn't care. She smiled mentally at a thought. They got along so well. He...really was everythng she was lookign for in a mate. But she must sound so childish to him. And, as she thought a bit more...cross breed pairs were not smiled upon, and surely and older Nequus would be less likely to mate another breed...After all why endure the ridicule or possible harm. The thought saddened her a bit, but she pushed it back.

To tell or not to tell, that was the question. Morthan held his silence whilst he considered it. Well. She'd find out in the end anyway, right? It wasn't as though it was a deep dark secret anyway. "I met her when she was coming through my forest on her way to climb Casa Tiner," the pale Reya began. "She stopped with me a while and we fell in love. She was a bit younger than me but it didn’t matter to us. After some time together we had three daughters but when they were nearly grown, she decided she had to realise her ambitions with the icy peaks. She didn't come back down."
The blue-eyed stallion flashed his companion a faint smile. "That was quite a long time ago now and... while I suppose I still miss her thinking about her doesn't hurt like it used to. I've moved on; wouldn't be looking for a new mate if I hadn't."
Well, now she probably had a better idea of how old he was. Still, nothing seemed to have perturbed her so far so this probably wouldn't do any harm. If she'd been considering him as a potential mate and would be put off by age then it was best she knew now. If she hadn't been it wouldn't matter between friends. If she had been considering him for a mate and age didn’t matter… Well. That remained to be seen, didn't it? He wasn’t a young stallion by any means but he was still fit and healthy and would remain so for many years. She'd already said she didn't want another Ichsa, mentioned that feather winged Jala weren't what she was after. Perhaps a Reya was what she sought, or at least something she'd consider.

Eira listened to him carefully as he spoke. He had lost her...She carfully reached out and nuzzled his cheet. "I'm sorry..." she said lightly. The shook her head. "That makes me feel a bit bad." she said lightly, "I left mine because i just....didn't want to be with him anymore. Yet you lost your mate...Even if you say you've moved on..."
Not once did she think about his age as he spoke. She knew, or assumed, he was older. And his words just confirmed it. But she didn't worry about it. She began to think a bit. She enjoyed his company, definatly. SHe would have to think some. Because honestly, they seemed to get along vary well, better then her and Dark could ever have connected. And he was as neive to the world as Dark had been. Perhaps...they could continue to talk, but mabye...date? a possible seeing if they were relationship compatible....She'd have to see what he thought of her.

Morthan grinned and returned the nudge. "Don't," he said firmly. "She was right for me, so we stayed together. If I hadn't wanted to be with her at any stage or she with me, I've no doubt we would’ve split as you and your mate did. People... well people are different to each other, always. Sometimes it'd a good difference, sometimes not and sometimes something that seems like it's working at first doesn't. You've got to try though, no? If you don't risk, what can you gain?"
The pale stallion raised his head and squinted at the horizon. He doubted even one with good eyes could see the Ice Peaks from here and he certainly couldn't. Still, they were there alright, somewhere beyond the blur. It would take quite some time to reach his home, his patch of forest some way from their rocky feet. Perhaps it would be time enough to get to know this mare a little better. To work out what their relationship would entail.

She nodded lightly and smiled a bit. "yeah, you have to try...Living in fear of hurt or sadness or failer is no life to live..." she said lightly. "How much, tho, would you risk to see if somthing would work?" she asked, looking at him. She flicked and ear a bit as she herself thought while she awaited an anwser.
It was a simple question but she also ment it to hopefully help her deside on something, clarifiy a question she wasn't ready to ask. If she ever would be ready...

The albino met Eira's dark eyes with his pale. "For true happiness?" he asked, this tone deadly serious. "For that I would risk anything. My life, my health, my mind, my heart. For real happiness I would put it all on the line and more besides. I have lived alone for a long time and it is no life to be without people to love. Existence, yes, but not life."
An existence that had begun to weary him until the Reya lad had moved in near to him. Had the proud, youthful creature not happened along he would most likely have gone on withering away inside until nothing but the echoes of the past remained. Perhaps he would even have tried to follow his first love's hoofsteps up Casa Tiner... Still. That hadn't happened and there was no sense dwelling on it.
Perhaps instead he ought to be wondering what had led the brown mare to ask him such a thing. Interesting, certainly.

Eira nodded a bit. She had only tasted lonelyness a short time compared to what this stallion must have faced. The short time she could remeber before she met Dark, the time she spend travelign, and then the time between leaving him and meeting the stallion beside her.
Yet his anwser did not offer her what she had hoped for. So she asked another. "If you were standign beside somone, who was your friend, would you risk that friendship to see if they were more special then a friend?" she asked. "if they were somone you could love...?"

The stallion came to a halt and regarded the elegant Ichsa by his side. Was she asking what he thought she was asking? She bloody was too, that or he was going senile. Wow. Now that was unexpected. His day just kept getting better and better, didn’t it? How was he to respond to her? Something eloquent maybe? Something simple? Something soon was probably the best idea, before she got the wrong impression.
"Yes Eira," the pale-eyed stallion said with a half smile. "I most certainly would. Now tell me.” The smile widened a touch. “Would you?"

She was silent. Would she? could she? She was sure she had upset one stallion...would she risk hurting another? or getting hurt? or destroying a friendship that had barly had time to build? She thought for a moment, looking at him carfully. Would she?
"I would...But only if i knew for a fact i would not risk deeply hurting the other should things go afoul. I don't like the idea of doing that again. I'd live with them hating me, but the hurt...I don't want to hurt somone who is special..."

Morthan gave the younger Nequus a gentle smile and shook his head. "I wouldn't worry about it if I were you Eira. I'm fairly sure the other is a tough as diamonds. He's seen a few things in life and... well. If things did go wrong I'm not saying he wouldn't be hurt but I am saying he'd heal and move on."
The albino swished his tails at a swarm of small flies and awaited a response to his somewhat obscure phrasings. Hopefully she wouldn't be put off by the chance of hurting him; such things were always possible and he wasn't about to lie to her about that. Still, with any luck he would have assured her that he was capable of getting pretty much anything the damn world chose to throw at him these days.

SHe laughed softly. "As tough, i would have to take his word for it, but also as handsome." she smiled and nodded. "If he would beable to move on...then i would risk it...Nothing to gain if nothing is risked." And she didn't know if another dead end was upon her, or if somthing more wonderful was there...but she wasnted to find out...more then anything she wanted to find out...
And everything he said she belived. He could have said he ruled the sun and the moon and she might have belived him. His tone, his voice, his words, always gave her a sense of truth. He wouldn't lie to her. She was certain of that.
