Sandrina kept the position she was in, stumbling this way and that to try to offer more support, but sometimes forgetting to keep her balance in check as well. Finally when he made it to the shore and yipped she jumped up and let out her own joyous yap. But, in doing so she slipped the last leg of length and ended up getting her hind quarters wet. But that was fine by her, Sandrina oftened liked to play in the small pond her pack held anyway.
As she got out she shook her backside off, trying hard not to wet him in the process. Once she did she padded up to the right side of him just as he uttered his phrase. The sea up close! Gosh that sounded awfully nice. It made her maw turn into a grin at the mere thought of it all.
"Oh maybe, but I'm not all that hun-," She said, not wanting him to worry about the state of her stomach. But as soon as the phrase was half uttered a low whine grumbled from the mentioned thing.
She chuckled slightly, "Maybe I am a little hungry too."

He arched his neck proudly and gave her a little nudge with his nose. Suddenly he was filled with a determination to show of fhis hunting skill. He'd had quite a bit of practise at hunting rabbits with his father so that seemed the obvious choice. Besides, when he had been hunting deer with Equus he had always held a strange fear of them and their great hooves.
Rabbits, Remiel decided, were far easier to put on the menu.
I say rabbits then, unless you want something else? My dad was a master rabbit hunter so I learned all the tricks from him. It boosts our chances because there's two of us. One can spook and drive them into the jaws of another. That technique is the best but it means we're most likely only going to catch one. We could always bound in together, spread panic and then try to pick a couple off. Your choice. His tail was wagging madloy as he spoke and slowly he turned and continue don through the trees, his nose snuffling noisily as he went.
So many scents! But it wasn't hard to pick out a rabbit from all the other animals. They were very distinct and Rem's nose was intuned with their smell.

She smiled from the nudge, pleased that he was so carefree around her. It was a good feeling because she felt like she could be herself around him and not worry about what he thought. Her tail wagged back and forth as she watched him internally decide what their first meal would be. Her stomach gave another short rumble, but she ceased it with a giggle and turn of her head.
"Ooooooh rabbits!" she said excitedly. "No a rabbit would do well." In fact that happened to be one of Sandrina's favorite meals. It was lean meat and she favored the leaner meats rather then that bulked with tough meat and greasy fat.
Sandrina thought long and hard through the words and finally she can to a direct choice. "We can work in a team, then we'd be gauranteed a rabbit at all!" She felt smart in the moment.

Okie dokie! He called, raising his head up very slightly from the ground. He had picked up a few interesting scents now, one that smelled promising. It took him a moment to untangle the web of different scents and then finally he found one that he was sure belonged to a rabbit. On fuirther inspection he found he was right.
In the undergrowth a small bunny-sized hollow had been made from where the little creatures dived in and out. Rem realised they must have come to the path to drink in the puddles that gathered in the hollows. Now he had to find out how to get to the other side of that undergrowth. There had to be another one in.
He relayed what he had found to his companion in a whisper and continued on, crircling around the bushes as quietly as possible. Then finally he found a gap big enough for a wolf and paused. The wind hit him side on but luckily he was out of range of the rabbit's noses.
Would you like to do the chasing or the catching? Rem asked. The chaser would stay here and drive them into the catcher. He could see a wide opening on the otherside, peppered with warrens, that he was sure could be reached.

Sandrina watched him work and as she did she couldn't help but wear a smile firmly planted on her maw. She could never be that good at hunting! Probably because her place in the pack was merely an object to be used and discarded until the next male was interested. She let a soft sigh, sure by now that her pack members would realize she was missing. She doubted if they cared about it, but she was sure they knew it.
More and more she wanted to stay with him.
Sandrina nodded at his whispered words and tried to be stealthy as she followed. It was then that she too could smell the scent of rabbits and it made her mouth water hungrily.
"The chasing," she said in a whisper, coupled with decisive headnod, "I'd feel horrible if I accidentally let one go."

Remiel gave an enthusiastic nod of his head. This reminded him of the times with his father when they had hunted rabbits in the pack. It was an amazing feeling, adrenaline flooding his veins, his heart pounding. Everything seemed to slow down as senses intuned with nature. This was what a wolf was made to do! To hunt and survive!
Okay...I'll go take up position. When you see the undergrowth to the right of those warrens shake slightly you'll know I'm in position. With a wagof his tail he stepped past her, pausing to nudge the side of his head against her ruffled neck.
Good luck! It was a sort of tradition with his family to wish luck before a hunt. Then with that he moved off, circling wide so that the rabbit scent was carried straight to him and made his mouth water. Then again it worked neutrally, masking his scent and the rabbits'.
The undergrowth lay just ahead and what had long covered the warrens from wind and rain would now offer them dark jaws of death. To kill a rabbit came easily to a gentle soul such as Remiel. His father had said that it was to survive, that it was the way things that had always been. Besides, there were thousands more long-ears than there were wolves. Hunting helped keep the balance.
He pushed himself into the undergrowth and belly-crawled forwards until his snout almost broke free of the other side. Then lying on the soft soil and roots he waited, hoping that the leaves had rustled just enough for Sandrina to notice.

Sandrina too felt an alluring exitement in her chest at just his one solitary headnod. Her tail wagged freely and she shook just once as she 'prepped' herself both mentally and physically at the feet she was about to preform.
"Right!" she said, trying to sound self confidant and sure of herself. She sounded so true that even she believed it.
"You too," she said as she slinked away.
No musings or complex thoughts passed Sandrina's brain as they did with her wolf counterpart, only the sureness of a meal to come. She did notice his movement, even the softest leaf rustle and then it was down to her. Taking a deep breath she dove at the mouth snarling and growling before a panic rose through the small mammal warren and soon the little bodies began to hop/run for their lives.

Adrenaline thumped through young Rem's veins as he saw her leap up. Suddenly that peaceful and sweet-hearted wolf looked fiersome. Even he was a little scared! He forced his gaze from her snarling muzzle down to the scattering rabbits. They were spreading out like a fan but luckily there was more than one heading towards him. Yes, just a little closer.
This is what it meant to be a wolf. Hunting like this made him feel alive.
The rabbits came closer. One veered off slightly but Remiel held still. He had his eyes set on one of the larger ones. The one heading straight for him. The wind, still on his side, kept him masked until the last moment and with that Remiel leapt from the undergrowth, baring his teeth and snarling like a monster.
Two rabbits skidded to a halt and changed their course back the way they came but the leading rabbit was too slow. He skidded right up against the paws of the wolf and squealed as jaws fixed themselves firmly around the creatures neck.
Remiel only gave the creature a second to realise death was upon it before breaking it's little neck. Then with his kill at paw he raised his head to see how his companion was faring.

Sandrina had even surprised herself. She wasn't used to spitting and growling, seeing how she never stood up for herself. Oh put feeling this feeling of pure headrush and instinct was definitely a nice cry from the norm. When her eyes ticked up towards Remiel she felt her heart skip a beat. He was so gentle, but now she could see his power, all of it and it made the life giver within her jump widly about in her chest.
She wasn't sure what the strange feeling was that had taken hold of her, but perhaps she would find out later once the excitement had waned off.
The rabbits were darting this way and that, and there was so many! Sandrina may not be the smartest wolf in the world, but anyone who didn't catch one of these would have to be a deaf, dumb, and blind fool. At seeing Remmy's catch she twisted her body, quickly, even taking herself be surprise as she double back on her side and clenched her jaws down on the first zooming white thing that meant by.
She was greated by the warmth of freshly spilt blood.

He looked up just in time to see his companion strike and with a contented bark he threw up his head and gave a long, low howl. His chest filled with the sound and his ears quivered from the note. His call of victory to all those who might hear him.
Then he picked up the rabbit in his jaws and moved over to his mottled friend, dropping the meal to the ground.
We did it! He sounded surprised that it had gone so well. I guess hunger helps to drive the concentration. He continued with a dip of his snout and he licked any remnants of blood from his nose. You did wonderfully! I bet you're worshipped as a wonderful huntress back at your home pack. You could probably even show Equus a thing or two. He paused and gave a silly grin. He's the one who taught me to hunt the deer. Then he gave a small bounce and picked up his prize.
Let's go and find some shade to eat these in. Then onwards to the Outriders. They shouldn't be too far now. In fact I'm hoping we'll be there before the moon comes into sight.

"We did!" she repeated, as equally as excited and surprised as he.
Her tail wagged and she picked back up the rabbit, which she had dropped, by accident of course, but managed to pick the limp lifeless body back up. She did it fast, as if it would suddenly hop away, though it was already stiffening.
She turned her had at the compliment, both out of bashfulness, but also with knowing that the words weren't true. She wasn't worshipped or prized or any such thing. She was only Sandrina the stupid. Or at least that's what most thought of her.
But if he thought it, then that was enough for her.
"Speak for yourself," she said, giggling her lips around the rabbit. She nodded at the request and happily made to follow.

He laughed and with a small nod loped off into the trees. Soon he found a comfy spot where the grass was cropped short by rabbit teeth and the trees spread their shade all around.
Here we go! He said, flopping down hard onto the ground. This place seems nice enough. He dropped the rabbit to the ground, settled himself and began to eat. He was starving! The rabbit eased that uncomfortable spot in his belly and soon had him feeling one hundred percent again.
As he shook his head the wind changed and brought with it a scent that were very familiar to him. The pack wasn't far now. Not far at all.
I can smell the ocean. He murmured. They can't be far now. When you're ready we can continue. I'll keep my eyes out for the path that I used to leave and we'll be there sooner than you can imagine. He yawned then, his tongue curling in his jaws. And not a moment too soon, I'm exhausted and my den would be perfect right about now. His ears twitched. Oh, Sandrina, I forgot. We'll need to find somewhere for you to stay too. Hopefully there'll be a spare den or maybe... His heart gave a strange thump. You can stay with me, if you don't mind the snoring of course. He laughed and stretched out on the ground.

Picking her prized catch back up, Sandrina headed after him, her tail wagging to and fro as she went.
"'Erfect!' she said, mumbling the words around the dead thing once more. Chuckling to herself she dropped it near the place he had chosen and corrected herself. "Perfect, I mean."
She ate quickly, but not as fast as she would back home. For the likes of Sandrina, she had to eat as fast as she could otherwise someone might take whatever she couldn't eat quickly enough. Usually the culprit was Linn, but that was no matter. Here she didn't have to worry and thus she could enjoy the meal and the company of the other.
When she had eaten her fill she settled and began licking the blood off of her chops. "That was wonderful," she said happily, already being lulled into a world of comfort and dreamy haze.
The words suddenly brought her snapping out of her sleepy reverie and she was up on a whim. Inwardly she tried to tell herself not to sound too excited to sound 'coy' instead, as Linn would say. But Sandrina's mood outweighed any ounce of logic the wolf possessed.
"That sounds wonderful! Snoring, heh," she snorted, "no one snores as loud as my brother, so it cant' be THAT bad!"

He finished a little after Sandrina, leaving fur and a few bones that he hadn't been able to chomp down. Then raising his head he licked at his maw to clean it of any remnants of his meal. Then stretching comfortably he settled himself more comfortably and turned his hazel eyes towards her.
Sandrina was different from any other wolf he had met. She was always smiling, always happy, she seemed to embrace life and enjoy it. Even now when she was far from her pack mates she seemed quite content - though he still didn't know of the pack situation with her. He was wondering if they were searching for her when she replied to his comment.
Is that a challenge? He said, both ears perking up a little. I'll hold you to it. Inwardly he had hoped that she would stay with him. Ever since he had moved out of his father's den, his own had seemed ruther dull and very lonely. Wolves weren't meant to sleep alone but really he wasn't close enough to any pack member to ask to stay with them. Besides he was trying to be a grown up wolf and they might have laughed at him if he said so.
Okay we'll let our dinner settle and be on our way. He said through a yawn.
----------
With slightly slower steps than before, Remiel continued his path through the trees, energized by the smell fo familiar scents all around him. He could smell Phib's and anothers, possibly patrolling the borders. However, he did not catch on to his father's scent until a couple of minutes later and even that was further from the main pack than he had expected. His father was a shy wolf and didn't often like to go to near to the borders.
Remiel's heart twitched as he thought of his father. Would Gizmo be happy to see him or would he be upset that he had left him for so long! Oh to be the pup of a single parent, a clingy one at that!
Almost there. Remiel called to his companion, and they were. The trees were thinning out now, signalling the forest's end. Then you can see the ocean close up. And ten paces more brought them out of the trees and onto the grassy verge that led down to the sand and ultimately into the water. The water glittered like it was sprinkled with stardust and the waves were lapping gently at the sand.
He paused, absorbing the scene and filling his nostrils with that tangy, salty air.
Home.
He waited for Sandrina's response.

((Do you wanna make a new thread? or continue in here? : 3 )) Sandrina left more then her male counterpart, but that was more then fine. She didn't feel guilty as some wayward animal would probably come and finish off what they hadn't eaten. She'd seen it before before the pack existed and was sure the world hadn't changed since after. She continued to clean her maw well after all the blood was off of it, out of force of habit and then stretched herself, loving the feeling of a full belly.
Her tail flickered and then slowly wagged, brushing the grass and leaving leaves stirred from their original position in its wake. She wasn't sure what he was thinking, but Remmy had deep soulful eyes. By now she could tell that he was deep in thought even when he hadn't spoken of it. Had she known she would say she didn't think so.
Even if they truly were.
"Maaaaaaybe," she sing songed.
She enjoyed this. The feeling of being herself around him and not having to be used or abused or looked down upon. It really did take the joy out of life. Every so often she'd remember her family and it pained her. When Sandrina loved someone, even if they were mean to her every now and then, she loved them fully and unconditionally. So never seeing her family again was something she was fearful of.
But her growing affection for Remmy was growing more with each passing second.
It was truly a tough call to make. Soon however, the haze of the meal had taken hold and she felt her eyes growing heavy with weight. She drifted asleep in a small nap.
------
She woke up quickly, having only been asleep for a small amount of time. When she followed, Sandrina followed closely not wanting to loose sight of him. She'd grown to rely on the wolf a lot. Not just for company or his know how...but for other things as well.
Sandrina's head turned this way and that, her eyes shone like that of a newborn puppy who had just opened them to life. She nodded at his words, to enraptured by the wonderment of it all to make a better response. She inhaled her breath at the sight of it.
It was amazing.
Remmy had shown her so many amazing things on this journey and she couldn't help but have the feeling that the best was yet to come. So overcome with emotions was she that she didn't respond for several beats.
But finally she broke her trance and moved straight into Remiel's shoulder, bearing her head in his thick neck fur.
"It's beautiful," she murmured.
Her home was now becoming a distant memory.
