I could only find the TV series of it and thar was over four hours long. I was half asleep when the first tape finished. It was good but it wasn't that scary. ninja

I really enjoyed that movie. The old woman in the bathtub kind of creeped me out when I saw it though...The rotting pieces looked like cardboard.

One of my favorite movies ever....Jack nicholson wonderful performance, and that little kid was so creepy which made it more scary.....the book is pretty good too....I got really confused on the ending though, with his picture on the wall, I'm guessing he was posessed but how did his picture end up on the wall?

I've only seen bits and pieces of The Shining. I still haven't watched the entire thing because it freaks me out. I saw the made-for-tv one that somebody made. It sucked.

I take the film and novel to be two different things. One is Hollywood horror, the other is a work of art. The film is...good. But seriously, half the novel is missing. The novel totally freaked me out though. I couldn't sleep properly while i was reading it. I got to imagine it my way.
However, in Kubrick's defence, he gives the people what they want from a visual pov. (One that's possible to do, i agree that they weren't capable of making the hedge animals when the movie was made). For example, the axing of Halloran. It's jsut his style. The same goes for A Clockwork Orange. It varies from the novel a fair bit in some places, but only to make it more pleasing on the eyes.

The Shining is awesome! One of the best movies ever in my opinion. I always joke around with my family when I open a door in some odd way I always say, "HEEERE'S JOHNNY!"

I really like both but for me the first one is more watchable. I the part that really bugs me still is the part towards the end around the time of all the blood where there are two people in a room. I think I really need to read the book now. *runs off to used book store*

(But I had seen the movie before reading the book.) The movie and the book are both great. Jack is my favorite actor and it has a great story. Also, I can't help get the creeps just looking at this image: SPOILER ALERT

I love the original Shining movie. The twin girls are really creepy, the boy is creepy also when he says "red rum", and of course there is Jack.
I agree the book is better. Stephen King books do have a tendency of giving you insomnia.

What King books do you guys reccomend by him? I've got a long list at the moment but I want to get back to him. Right now I'm reading The Great Shark Hunt by Hunter S. Thompson and Naked Lunch by William S. Burroughs.
