I love both cooking and baking, but I cook way more than I bake.
I'm really experimental when I cook, I'll make all my own glazes and sauces and stuff, just from my head. (I made this really amazing guacamole, with mango puree, cinnamon, a little lime juice, and some cayenne pepper. My mom raved about it.) It's almost like I can taste it in my head before I even start to work. I can cook just about everything. Right now, though, my favourite recipe is tamagoyaki. It's soooo tasty, such a nice, cute little snack! And the way you roll it as it cooks is a lot of fun, too. XD
And baking, I love to make elaborate cakes. Like, several layers, with all kinds of delicious fillings and flavours, and I learned how to pipe roses and stuff~ It's so much fun. I made my mom a great cake for her birthday, it was a heavy vanilla cake, with raspberry filling and a thick layer of white chocolate under each tier (there were three), then iced in white icing with a bright blue icing piped around the edges, soft mauve roses with frosty green leaves, and 'Happy Birthday Mom' written on the topmost tier in blue, with a couple of rosebuds. It was beyond gorgeous~
But that takes a lot of work. For regular desserts, I love doing creme brulee and pot de creme. They're sooo tasty, far easier than fancy, expensive restaurants would have you believe, and they're such crowd-pleasers. I most recently made mint-Baileys pot de creme with crushed Skor bar topping.
