Isi leaned back on his crutches and laughed a laugh that could've been compared to the boyish taunting laugh of Peter Pan. Spinning away on his crutches, the crippled boy began leading Edgar away from his two precious frei, shouting all the meanwhile, "That's right you pompous a**! Come and catch me!"
Edgar, enraged like a bull that chased after a dancing toredor with a red cape, flung himself at Isi. He managed once to clip the boy's ear, but the crippled kid managed to spin out of the way and spin off in another direction. Alright, there was nothing he could do know! For sure he'll get this blasted crippled Isi this time! He chuckled menacingly at the thought and reached again.
Surprisingly for Isi's usual slowness, the boy was deft and used his crutches to their full advantage. He used them to swing himself over roots and obstacles, and also to gain speed. He would swing, take a few steps, swing, and take another few steps. "Come on!" he hooted again, taunting him by singing 'Casper the friendly ghost' songs.
Moaning still in pain, Eiry forced himself to suck away his anguish. Rushing forward he floated low and wrapped his arms around his brother. Almost immediately, spirit orbs appeared around them and they began urging them towards a certain direction. Struggling to hoist up Rivener, Eiry tried to drag him towards where the spirit orbs where pointing him to. He knew that Isi had come, that much was certain. He was still confused though. Thoughts raced around in his head in a blind panic, and the only thing he was concerned with was: escape
"Riv...I can't carry you...Come on, Riv!"

A pair of arms wrapping around him registered faintly in Rivener's mind, and he lifted his wings threateningly, thinking he might be threatened again. A moment later, however, he recognized who they belonged to. His little brother. Relaxing once again, Riv's wings dipped weakly and he shook his head, bringing up a hand as he lifted himself up off the ground. "Uh, wh-what happened?" He asked, not able to make any sense of the events that occurred after the ghost had strangled him.
He was starting to get his senses back. He could see Eiry was hurt, one of his wings bent in a strange direction. The little orbs that had accompanied the minty Frei all night were flitting about in a craze, and Eiry himself looked anxious, in a hurry... Not asking more questions, Rivener let himself be led by his brother, although the Scorpion's speed wasn't nearly as good as it had been before. He was still reeling from the lack of oxygen.

"Isi come, Isi's here to save us. Isi hit the ghost. Quick! Into the bushes!"
By this time, Isi had hobbled out into the center of the graveyard where a huge boulder stood like Elijah's rock. He raced around it as fast as his crippled legs could go and then slammed his back against it as he came to a sudden halt. Wheezing, he glanced around both sides for his predator, reaching into his pocket at the same time. Just as his fingers clentched around the object he was searching for, Edgar leapt out from one side of the rock and threw himself at the boy. So startled was Isi by the ghost's sudden appearence that he actually dropped the item he was holding to the marsh below.
Isi gasped, and he was able to duck just as Edgar whipped his arm out for his throat. Unfortunately, Isi's legs are weak. They buckled out from underneath him and he collapsed to the muddy with a slight moan.
"Boy!" Edgar hissed at Isi, standing over his fallen prey, "You have outrun me for the last time!" Raising his leg, Edgar slammed it down into Isi's back.
Isi cried out as he was suddenly pressed into the mud and dried verdure of the marshes. Mud seeped into his mouth and the boy spat it out wildly as he forced his right arm to search the mud for the fallen object. As soon as his hand closed around it...
Another foot slammed down hard into his back. Edgar began to laugh harshly.
Isi gave one more groan, but as soon as he was able, he rolled himself out of another blow and flung the object at Edgar's face.
...The holy water from the delicately carved vial splashed all over Edgar's visage and with a violent hiss it began to bubble in the ectoplasm. Suddenly filled with a searing pain, Edgar reared back, tearing at his face with his own claws as it steamed and burned.
"BOY! I'LL GET YOU FOR THIIIS!!" Edgar shrieked, and then, with a wispy breath of wind, Edgar disappeared.
Exhausted, Isi laid in the marsh mud for a while as he tried to catch his breath and force his legs to curl up underneath him.
The raevans...
"Ugh..." Forcing himself up from the ground, Isi fell more than once as he tried to force his crutches underneath his arms. After he finally managed to get himself balanced and up on his two feet, he began going to the edge of the graveyard. "Eirdirsceol! Rivener!" he called as he stuffed the vial back into his pockets. "It's safe now! Come on out, let's go home!"
Eiry perked his pointed ears and glanced up from where he and Rivener were securely hidden in the green foilage of a hollowed out bush. He was holding himself, trying to nurse his wing that he couldn't reach. Slowly floating back out of the bush, he beckoned Rivener to follow after him.
"Brother? Lessgo."

Rivener had been watching through the leaves, now that most of the grogginess had worn off. It was like watching television! Isi ducking, getting hit, getting pushed into the mud, searching for something, finding it, throwing at the ghost... And most surprising of all, whatever Isi had done, had WORKED! Edgar hissed and fumed, but he faded!
Riv watched the cripppled boy pick himself up out of the marsh with new grudging respect. That stupid Isi was a hero. Pouting slightly, Riv crossed his arms and looked over at Eiry, who was already floating out of the bushes.
Riv's expression changed when he saw the crooked wing. Concerned, he followed Eiry over to Isi's side, but he spoke quietly for the Minty Frei's ears alone. "Does it hurt? I can try and stop the pain if you want!" He could generate poison that would numb the area, much like a doctor's needle. He wasn't sure if it would work on a ghostly Raevan, but he could try if Eiry allowed it...
Before the other could answer, though, they were at Isi's side.
Rivener turned to him and took a deep breath, resisting the urge to say something snippy as he usually did to the boy. Instead he crossed his arms and looked away petulantly as he spoke. "Thanks."

Smiling warmly at the scorpian raevan through the mud and grime on one side of his face, Isi simply nodded his head at him. He didn't say anything because the look that he gave Rivener said it all. Just by glancing at Rivener, Isi could say with his face: 'your welcome', 'I'm here for you', 'anytime', and 'Hey, I got your back' all at the same time. Besides, the way that Rivener gave him the words of gratitude, Isi could tell that it was hard for him to say such a thing. Isi was glad for it, but he didn't think he wanted to make Rivener feel anymore than what he felt like feeling. Isi was sure he'd warm up in time. After he had communicated that through a single glance, Isi's face warped into worry as he surveyed the raevan's floating bodies.
"Hey, you guys are hurt. Riv...Your neck. And...Oh my god!" Isi gasped aloud when he saw the contorted wing on his Eiry's back. Glancing up at the raevan with large worried grey eyes, he growled softly, "That Edgar...I should've come faster. I knew he would do something stupid to either of you if he was able to get his hands on you. Come on, let's get back home. Aphi is going to be worried and he'll probably freak out. So let's not make him freak out any more than he has to by getting there before the night is speckled with stars, okay? Eiry? How much does it hurt?"
The minty green raevan was pushing himself close to his brother, shaking and wide-eyed. When Isi asked him the question, Eiry gave a loud wail and shrunk into Riv's left arm. Turning his anguish-filled ruby eyes to Rivener, he pleaded softly, "Please? Help me, brother..."
"Can you help him, Riv?" asked Isi, looking now at Rivener as he began to lead them away from the swamp's graveyard.

Riv lifted a hand to his neck when Isi mentioned he was hurt. He didn't think a strangling would show... When the Raevan drew his fingers away again, there was a slight sheen of blood on them. He blinked in confusion for a moment, before remembering that he had tried to claw at Edgar's hands... He did this to himself, then. Oh well, it wasn't very deep or particularly painful. He was wiping most of the blood away when Eiry crowded against his arm.
Riv's face melted into worried concern at Eiry's wail. The adrenaline must have worn off, and the kid was feeling the pain of his wing again... When both asked for the Scorpion's help, he smiled affectionately (a rare expression for him) and nodded. He turned to his little brother and placed a hand on Eiry's good shoulder, using it to turn the boy around so he could see the base of the wing.
All of the wing's pain was coming through that area, into the body... If he could manage to numb there first, he would be able to sting the wing nearer the break and ease the pain at the source. "This might sting, but it'll pass soon, okay?" he counselled, as he raised a stinger and summoned the numbing venom.
A faster-than-the-eye strike of his wing, and a tiny p***k to Eiry's back. Leaving a moment to work, Riv moved over to the wing itself, but waited for word from the ghostly Frei before stinging there; if his poison didn't work on Eiry, he didn't want to sting the break directly and cause more damage. "Does it still hurt, Eiry?" he asked, ready for another strike.

Sniffling gently, Eiry bared his teeth against the pain. He wanted to be tough like his big brother, so he tried his best not to cry. when the pinch-like sting swelled in his broken wing into a numb nothingness, the ghostly raevan nodded his head.
"It's going away," he muttered, glancing over his shoulder to give a look of admiring gratitude to Rivener.

Rivener smiled. He was glad it was working! He was afraid that he might have hurt Eiry more. "Good! Just one more sting to help the pain for later, and you should be good for a while. Maybe a few hours, maybe overnight... I'm not sure how well the poison works for us. So if it starts to hurt again during the night, come tell me and I'll do it again, okay?"
Although Riv was not really wanting to pump his brother full of poison repeatedly (there might be side effects, or he might develop an immunity to it), he raised his wing for another sting. With his fingers, he prodded at the wing carefully, until he found the place that felt Wrong. Inching the needle-tip closer, he carefully pierced the flesh there, and injected. "There. The poison should keep you numb for a while." He floated away lightly and smiled. "All better. But you should probably go see Doctor Kyou or Doctor Tsu as quickly as possible." He mostly said this in Isi's direction, although the boy most likely already knew this. Riv's big brotherly instincts were kicking in hard, and he wanted to make sure Isi knew to go to the docs.

Relaxing after the second sting, Eiry released the tension in his body. The pain was slowly getting away, but it still felt weird the way his wing was twisted. It didn't feel normal. He didn't like it at all and he wanted it to go back to what it used to feel like. If it were a normal wing, things might've been different. However his wings were...Well...ethereal. Wispy. It was hard to describe. Just feeling them was weird enough as it was to any other. Now that it was...Well...Broken...It felt weird.
"Thanks, brother," he said.
Isi nodded at Rivner's advice. He was already planning everything in his mind. They'd get home, Isi would call Lab 305...Wait. No, before that they'd meet and deal with Aphi. THEN they'll go take a bath.
"Alright," Isi said, "Let's go guys."

Rivener stayed by Eiry's side as they headed out of the marsh and towards home. Night was creeping up slowly, and Rivener was starting to absorb nutrition. His rune glowed brighter, lighting their way easily in red hues mixing with Eiry's paler greenish tinge. The result was rather eerie to say the least.
Already Rivener's throat was healing; the energy he was freshly consuming aided his recovery. He smiled over at his little brother, making sure the other didn't suddenly show signs of pain.
They would be at the house soon; Rivener could only imagine how Aphismet would react. Of course, he'd be more concerned about Eiry and Isi than about Rivener. As always. The thought soured Riv greatly, and he turned an annoyed frown to the house he could now spot between the branches.

Floating slightly lower than Rivener, Eiry kept his head held high and his bottom lip bitten. About the same time the treehouse and the home slipped into their sight, Eiry managed to control his shivering body. Fear was beginning to slip away like the dying sun's rays and the pain was numbed by Rivenr's poison. He didn't say much. He simply stayed beside his brother and stayed on course. Once he turned to Rivener and gave him an ear to ear smile.
Isi hobbled along with growing difficulty. His legs were weak from the recent event and traversing through the soft and squishy marsh was not easy. His shoes and crutches would get sucked into the mud and he would have to struggle to tug himself free. Now, with each step, his legs would buckle lightly and his knees would quiver. Sweat beaded on his forehead and he held his head as if there was a great burden resting on his neck. It was plainly visible, now, that Isi was pushing himself to the limits just to keep his legs pumping and his arms supporting him.
When the house finally got into view, Isi made it to the harder, denser, grass lawn of their backyard before he collapsed weakly onto his knees. He hugged his crutches to either side of his head and breathed hard for a moment. His body was a crouching silhouette in the growing dark.
"Riv, Eiry, could you please get Aphi? I can't walk anymore," he breathed heavily.

Rivener had almost forgotten himself and rushed forward to help the fallen boy. He managed to stop himself before he appeared TOO nice. Instead the Scorpion just made sure Eiry was ok, and he said: "I'll get him. You two stay here."
And with that he headed into the house. He wanted to have at least one moment where Aphismet would be worried about HIM and his neck scratches, before he got all worked up over Isi and Eiry.
Rivener entered the house through the back sunroom, and already he could tell where Aphismet was. The whole house smelled like bread, meaning the cook was in his kitchen trying out something new. Riv floated quickly through the rooms and hallways, until he came to the kitchen. "Aph?" he asked his guardian, whose back was turned as he worked on some concoction.
"Ah, Riv! Come try this. It's an awesome kind of bread I just read about on the internet. It's made with OHMYGOD what happened to you!?" Aph, having turned around to offer a slice of the bread as he talked, startled at the Raevan's mussed-up looks and dropped the slice of bread.
Aph rushed to his Frei's side and reached out with a finger gently, probing at the neck. Already the scratches were mostly healed, but the blood smears around it made it look much worse.
"There was this ghost," Riv explained, smiling slightly at the attention and not really wanting to ruin it by saying what came next. "It tried to kill us. Eiry and Isi are outside. Eiry is hurt..."
"What?! Where!" Aph began walking out, Rivener leading the way morosely. As soon as they were outside, Riv pointed to the back of their yard. Aph spotted the kneeling Isi and the crooked-winged Eiry, and ran towards them, Rivener following slowly behind.
"Isi, Eiry!! What the hell!!! AH, your wing!! And what about YOU, are you hurt?" Aphismet went back and forth between guardian and Raevan, fretting like a mother hen.

Isi chuckled tiredly, watching his adoptd older brother run around in circles between all members of the family. Isi, by that time, was still thinking about Riv. He had seen him start for him and soon catch his composure. Isi thought it was enearing in a way. Leaning himself away from his crutches, Isi raised his voice to calm the startled Aphismet.
"Hey! Hey, Aphi. It's alright. I'm fine, just exhausted. Our raevans, though, had quite the scary adventure. They met an old acquaintance of mine named Edgar. He's the b*****d ghost of an escaped murderer who broke Eiry's wing. Rivener was there for Eiry and he numbed his wing with his poison. I-"
"Big brother helped me!" interupted Eiry as he sidled up to his brother once more and nestled his cold body close. He attempted to move his numbed wing but it simply jerked like the limb of a dying bug. He winced slightly.
"Anyways," continued Isi, "We need to call the lab as soon as possible. Eiry needs to see a doctor, now."

Aphismet had been about to turn and yell at Rivener about poisoning their family members when Eiry had interrupted. Good thing he had. Aph blinked and lifted an eyebrow at his Scorpion... So, he could use the stuff to HELP? How... nice.
Turning his attention back to Isi, Aph couldn't hold in his outrage. "There's a friggin MURDEROR in our swamp!? And you never told me this? And here I was, letting Eiry and Riv out at night into that swamp, basically into the claws of that maniac!" Aph was herding everyone towards the house, ranting on as he did. "What if that damn thing comes back?! Should we, like, get an exorcist or something? H-he can't get into the house, can he?" The sudden thought shook Aph's voice and he glanced over his shoulder uneasily. "Ah!" he yelped as he spotted a floating orb near the big Tree. He hurried everyone inside.
Rivener lifted an arm to give his brother room against his side. He was careful of where he placed that arm on the other wounded Raevan. "Don't try to move that wing," he whispered to Eiry quietly as they floated towards the house. Riv was much more subdued now, knowing he was suddenly unimportant, concentrating instead on the one person who still thought the world of him; Eiry.

"No, he's trapped in the graveyard, he doesn't go anywhere else. He can't. I trapped him there." Isi explained as he was shepherded towards the home, "As long as they don't go in the graveyard, they'll be safe." Isi stumbled as Aphi pushed him towards the house as soon as he had lifted himself up. His legs were still weak so when he was pushed into the house, Isi stumbled and fell onto his knees in front of Aphismet.
Tucking himself close, Eiry took comfort at the near proximity of Rivener. He nodded and muttered gratefully, "Thanks, brother. Um...Can I rest in your room tonight?"
